What a scam - you try out MyFax and then, when you want to cancel, they won't let you cancel online or via email. You have to CALL them in order to cancel the account. Isn't that illegal?
This is a terrible company that likes to just charge your card.
1. You have no option to cancel your plan. You must call or email.
2. They will bill you without emailing you an invoice.
3. The only option is to upgrade to a higher plan.
Basically once you sign up and give your credit card information they will charge your card for their *free trial* then you have no way to manually cancel your plan or close your account without contacting their support. If you forget about this they will keep charging your card monthly without ever sending you an email invoice.
If they do not reply to my support request soon (been 7 days) I will be contacting my back and stating that these are unwarranted charges since I am being charged with no way of cancellation.
I sign up yesterday for the 30 days free trial, today I realized my credit card was charged, I call them and they said I sent over 100 pages, and the free trial its only for 100 pages. I cancel the service and demanded my money back, that I am not sure I will get. Stay away from this company. I wish I had read these reviews before signing up.
Let me first start of by saying that the free 30 day trial just shows how desperate this company is for your money. They are hoping that within the first 30 days you will either forget that you signed up for this service or gave up on trying to cancel because they make it very difficult to do so. The method of operation is that they do not send you any e-mail correspondence after you initially sign up in hopes that you forget about their service and/or can't figure out how to cancel and they can quietly steal money from your bank account month after month with hopes that you don't notice.
After being billed for this service twice after requesting a cancellation during the trial period (via e-mail, which apparently you can't do. You must call in to cancel. Just learned that today). I noticed my card was charged yesterday for the subscription, called to cancel and requested a refund for that month. Realized I had been billed for the previous month also, but I figured a refund for the month I was just charged for would suffice.
The representative I spoke with at first was hard to understand and did not understand me, so I asked for a supervisor. I think they must have transferred me to their lawyer instead. This guy was pretty bad. His level of customer service was probably the worst I've ever experienced. Based on his defensiveness of their policies, I suggested that the company must need the $10 more than I do. I asked him if his position was in jeopardy with the financially struggling company and he hung up on me. I take that as a yes.
Don't do business with this corrupt company that wastes your time and does not value you as a human being, let alone a customer. However, if you are feeling charitable, go for it. They really could use the money.
*** WARNING! MYFAX IS DEFINITELY A SCAM! ***
SEPT. 17,2016 I SIGNED UP FOR THE "FREE 30 DAY TRIAL". I SENT 11 FAXES TO THE SAME NUMBER. ONLY 8 WENT THROUGH. *ALL 11 WERE TO COLONIAL LIFE (SOMEWHAT LIKE AFLAC) WHICH IS AN INTERNATIONAL CO. SO THE FAX # IS THROUGH A NETWORK.
OF THE 8 SUCCESSFUL FAXES, ONLY ONE WAS 11 PAGES INCLUDING COVER. THE OTHER 7 WERE BETWEEN 3 AND 4 PAGES *WITH COVER*.
OCT. 4,2016 I WAS CHARGED $10. WHEN I CALLED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD SENT 180 PAGES! I SAID, "NO WAY! I JUST SENT INFO. TO COLONIAL LIFE FOR MY HUSBAND'S INJURY AND ONLY ONE FAX WAS 11 PAGES WITH COVER." (BECAUSE I RESENT THE DOCS THAT WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL IN THE 4 FAXES"
I THEN ASKED IF I WERE CHARGED FOR THE FAX ATTEMPTS THAT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL "BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY I SENT 180 PAGES" AND WAS TOLD NO.
***COMPLETE SCAM***
I ASKED FOR A REFUND BECAUSE I WAS CHARGED FRAUDULENTLY AND WAS MET WITH RUDE OPPOSITION. SO, I PRINTED OUT ALL OF THE COVERS, SCREEN SHOTS OF MY SENT BOX AND THEN TOLD THE RUDE REP TO PLEASE CX MY "FREE 30 DAY TRIAL".
I CALLED MY BANK AND TOLD THEM I HAVE ALL SUPPORTIVE DOCUMENTATION NECESSARY TO SHOW I WAS RIPPED OFF.
They are thieves, a total scam. I would like to join a class action lawsuit. I read their terms and conditions and they give no specifics, it seems they are intent on scamming trusting customers:*(
They charged me 70.70 for claiming I sent 254 faxes when I have proof it was only 30 pages during my free trial. I also sent an email to cancel and they charged my account after. They violated their own terms and conditions.
THIS JUNK IS HORRIBLE! As I'm sure you've seen online it states that it free... #LIES
Sure it's free IF it doesn't take too long for the receiving party to accept/get your fax. NOW in the event that they take too long (longer than usual), Myfax will bill you $10+ depending on how long it takes for them to get it. In all I was billed $30 and when I called to cancel they were only willing to credit my account $11 an change, which was the amount I lad left of my "FREE" trial period. At this point I'm disputing it with my bank and hopefully they'll have better luck than I did... #youvebeenwarned #DONTDOIT #NEVERAGAIN
I closed my business and sent an email to cancel account and terminate auto renewal. Several months later a $200.00 auto renewal hit my card. Upon complaint and demanding a refund they advised that they don't accept cancellations without a phone call (though sign up was totally via electronic). They have denied me a refund even though they admitted they received my cancellation and non-renewal. They never gave me definitive rejection until the time had lapsed for me to make a challenge on my credit card bill. Highly deceitful practice.
BEWARE!
I cancelled this service before the trial was over knowing I wouldn't use it. They continued to bill me which I missed as I sat bedside to my parents and 2 dear friends in Hospice this year. I called them to get it resolved when I could see straight and they hung up on me and now I my phone number is blocked and their number goes to a ring and a busy signal.
These people are thieves and will sell your dirty underwear if they think they can make some money off from you.
Charged for 600 pages of "try's" for@ 35 pages of successful sends. (And as I was only faxing documents to one number, it was not an issue of my providing an incorrect number). Of all the unsuccessful send notifications I have - they do not add up to 600 pages. No way to 'audit' how they are adding up and see what they are charging for. Every time you go over the 100 page limit included in the $10, they charge another $10, etc. Additionally, very difficult to cancel account. Hard to log in, & they provide inconsistent service. STAY AWAY
I initially sent in an email to cancel, and they responded within 2 days letting me know that they don't cancel accounts via email and that I had to call. In the email they told me to dial star when the IVR requests for a fax number. Did so, and was sent over to a representative.
He asked me for my fax number, name, call back number, and to verify my account with last 4 digits of the credit card on file.
He told me my fax archive would be deleted when the account is cancelled, offered me a lower rate, and a free trial to one of their other services. Which I declined.
I was given a cancellation number and that's it. I'm not sure what everyone is going through, but check your emails if you're emailing to cancelling.
The 'free' trial isn't. There is a hidden charge. To cancel the service you must call a telephone number in the Us even if you live half a world away. An email is considered a legal document but my fax doesn't recognise this. I question the legality and the ethics of this procedure and I am sure that this type of sharp practice no doubt enriches the company but it spreads a revulsion of american business practices. I do not understand why anyone who values their one self worth would work for a company that treats it's customers as another few dollars to squirrel out and make the month's numbers. Disgusting and disgraceful conduct and I am not sure it is legal.
Absolutely horrible customer service with extraneous charges. I sent 41 pages (my plan allows 50 per month). I got charged for 145 because they don't actually charge per "page" they charge per 60 second increments. Very difficult to get my account closed and get my refund since I paid a year in advance. I do NOT recommend myfax.com
The website is terrible. Customer support is terrible. I stopped receiving faxes and had to switch and they still charged every single stupid fee they could. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Before the end of the 30 day trial I decided I did not want this service but there is no information about how to cancel the service on the website. The look of the website also changed and it did not seem friendly to use with my Apple tablet device. I would not recommend this service because of the difficulty I am having in cancelling it.
This company would not respond to requests to cancel my service, yet charged my credit card three months in a row.
When I called their number after this time, their offer? Give me two months free. I told them they should instead offer to give me my money back and they refused.
But, really the worst bit is where they send you an email that advises you to cancel your account (& that fees will continue to accrue until you do), then make you chase down the method of cancellation, which requires calling them or emailing "customer support". And that email is signed "Sincerely, Doug M, MyFax® Customer Support. When I emailed "Doug" back (more than once) asking why he couldn't handle it himself, I got no reply.
Like everyone else said, cancelling is hell. Even had 2 customer service phone numbers that went no where. The 3rd worked but magically hung up on me after a few minutes. Tried again and got someone that I was able to cancel with. Hope it actually was cancelled but I don't trust them.
Also, as others mentioned I have yet to see this magical 24/7 chat box you can use to cancel.
It's a real shame since I liked their service but now I would never recommend them.
I emailed a request to cancel my service after a few months. I didn't receive a response so I figured it was being taken care of. I was billed again. When I inquired as to why (sat on hold for 12 minutes waiting to talk to someone) I was told that you have to use the chat feature or call them to cancel. The chat feature on their site doesn't work, so I guess that leaves only calling them to cancel. I asked why I didn't receive a response if they will not cancel via email. He had no answer as to why their billing department doesn't return emails. My guess is so that they can continue to bill you. I work graveyards so calling during their hours is not easily done. I wouldn't recommend based on their lack of response to cancellation.
I had to cancel my account because of a move out of state. I'm not certain if I will need an online fax service after the move. My card was already charged for 30 days (10 days after the move) and the rep said they will not prorate a refund. His explanation was that I was charged "for a time period" whether or not I used the service.
Not good. I had considered getting a new account with them after my move. I will not do so, now. Thank goodness I didn't prepay for a year!

Answer: It is a scam service, they will not fix your problem, cancel and call your bank for a charge back. They are offering a service they do not provide.
Answer: Because they can. I am sorry if that sounds flippant, but it is the truth and there is no other logical reason for it. Please note that they don't charge by the page, but rather by the minute and they purposely use a very small bandwidth to send pages.
Answer: If they canceled your account, the login won't work! Mine doesn't work anymore and I know for sure that it's right.
Send and receive faxes through your email, the web, or smart phone. MyFax provides exceptional value, a great low monthly price, and 24/7 Customer Support.
