Vicky from customer services said she'd refund my purchase, and give me a goodwill gesture of £30, she lied and didn't do either. Terrible customer service...
I have previously bought books from this company. Very frequently the books are not delivered. Avoid
Well, after my recent experience with Music Magpie I'm not convinced that they are trustworthy I'm afraid.
I traded in a phone for an agreed price.
However, once the phone is in their hands they seem, almost by magic, to find something wrong with it and immediately reduce their offer price.
They told me that a phone with IP54 splash resistance, always kept in a protective bumper case and never used in wet or damp conditions, showed signs that installed 'damp indicators' had been triggered.
I disputed this and was eventually sent a blurry photo with no explanation. Whether or not this was a photo of my phone, a forensic investigator would never have known!
I asked for a explanation of what the photo was showing and was told they weren't technical!
Eventually I was told to contact their Complaints Department.
I wrote three emails and never even got the courtesy of an acknowledgement let alone a reply!
I reluctantly accepted the reduced payment as Music Magpie held all the cards. Would I have ever had my phone returned had I refused the lower offer?
If you are tempted to deal with this company I would be very careful. You have been warned!

Paid extra for 24 hour tracked delivery - item turned up 2 days later. Wasted monies, my time and customer service were useless and insulting.
Lost a customer due to dire customer service and lack of delivery even when extra is paid for.
They send unusable products and then take longer than two weeks to process a refund.
Staff are close to useless, their complaints team are arrogant and quite frankly it's been the worst experience I've had from a retailer

I sent a 2015 Mac Pro book for sell with a quote of £190. I bought it from Covent Garden Apple Store at the end of 2016 for nearly £1000 and started using it in 2017. The laptop is five years old, fully functional and reset. The only problem is the battery life, which takes time for being fully charged and runs around 2 to 3 hours. Music magpie sent me a new offer of £19 due to the low battery. Of course the laptop won't have a 100%battery life. They actually sent an offer of £19! It is worse than a joke. Please don't bother with this company for recycling your gadgets. They don't have any bottom line for the price they can offer and don't care about the difference between the quote and the actual offer. Save your time from this time waster.
SCAM COMPANY! DO NOT BUY OR SELL FROM HERE. Bought a tablet from musicmagpie. Tried to sell it back to them from a different account and they said the battery was faulty and offered 10% of the value. After informing them we purchased it from them a month prior, they said it was under warranty and would repair it. We informed them we would be selling it back to them anyway but they insisted they return it to us to be sent back to them anyway. After doing so, they have stated the damage was actually caused by accidental damage from us in order to void the warranty, without any proof of this. This is a scam company that buys products from users, claims they are faulty to pay a lesser amount, sells them at a high price and then blames the new customer for the faults.
Just the most awful company I have ever dealt with. Insulting, patronising, ignorant. They will fob you off, lie to you and then refuse to accept your return. I bought a defective phone for over £700 and I cannot contact anyone at the company. They are a phone company who can't call you. How convenient for them.
Disgusting company my item was damaged in transit they return it too me i know have a damaged ipad pro and lost £300. I would not advise any one tonuse them use with caution. I feel like i have been robbed
Lost £500 to this company. They will not respond to me at all. Sent 100s of emails and not received anything back. No phone number to call them. Hope I can at least save the next person some money - don't use them. They're straight up scam artists
Had my items over 2 weeks, asked how long process was they told me items were not sent, sent proof told we do have them then rejected whole box in seconds? Perfectly good condition but have not answered my emails. One box had 2 iPhones in and 2 weeks later still not even checked?
Sent my mint condition phone kept in a case whole time for trade in Iphone 13 pro. Took a week to get there. Within 15 mins of them saying they received it received another email to say it has failed their tests and the microphone doesn't work dropping my quoted price of £550 to £120 I of course declined the offer. It took another week for me to receive the phone back. I then took it to carphone warehouse/ currys who plugged it into their system and it passed with flying colours watched the man test the microphone with no problems! It's a con they are banking on you believing them it doesn't work and taking the lower amount! Complete waste of my time. I then looked back at other reviews and there are plenty more that have had the same experience as me! Avoid don't waste your time
Watch out for fake prices. Ordered a phone which was advertised at £1149 but it kept crashing at checkout. When it finally went through, I discovered I was charged £1169 as 'black friday sale'. Customer Services says the price is updated to reflect various factors...I suppose they mean how much fake they can get away with to get your money...shame and indeed disgrace
Ordered a phone on 22nd November, I paid the extra to get it delivered next day, it was not showing up on my DPD app. I contacted DPD and they have not got the parcel.
I contacted Music Magpie who initially said that they could not find my order. Then an operator could find my order but the parcel had not been dispatched, they immediately said that they have refunded the extra payment I had made for next day delivery and my parcel would be dispatched in 24 hours.
I asked clarification of when I would receive my parcel and was told 'should be Friday' which is the 25th November. I said that was not suitable (I would be away) and I would prefer a refund, the operator said that Music Magpie could not as the order had been fulfilled and was currently in transit and would be delivered within 7 working days, ie 2nd December.
I asked when was the parcel actually dispatched as DPD do not have it.
Music Magpie then said that they could not check as their SYSTEM WAS DOWN.
It is hard to tell if they are lying or incompetent or if they are incompetent liars. Either way you can't rely on what they say.
As of the 24th November, DPD still have NOT received the parcel.
BE WARNED: Music Magpie customer services have wait times of UP TO 5 DAYS! And when you can message someone they do not tell the truth.
2nd time I've sent in items after being quoted a good price only to have something wrong with it and revised quote is less than 10 quid. Latest one is a Samsung galaxy watch where they said the strap was missing... it was attached when I sent it... not sure how royal mail have lost the strap on the way. Won't use or recommend
I recently traded in an iPhone XR and was quoted £145, when I shipped it there was already minor wear and tear from use and the charging port wasn't working as well anymore. When they received my phone they sent a new quote of £45 stating my screen is cracked, smashed and lifting up completely. I sent them an email requesting photos and said the faults were either caused by shipping or that they were exaggerated/made up to make my phone seem worse. They replied 5 days later saying they wouldn't damage my phone and that they'll send me pictures but I still hadn't received them with only one day left to accept or decline the offer. I asked for my iPhone to be sent back and when it was I was appalled at the condition that it was now in, the back of my phone had fully peeled and was hanging on by one corner, they had left an arrow sticker on my front screen saying "faulty" which was pointing to a small crack, there were additional small scratches all over the screen, and a dried sticky substance on the screen which looked like food. I was going to trade the phone into Apple but now they have ruined that option and I will have to get it repaired first before I can do anything. I am extremely annoyed and will not use this website again.
These lot are a rip-off; my wife and I have sent three items now (2 phones and an iPad) every time they offer the highest trading price Vs others, and then every time they claim some damage, e.g. water damage which turns out to be a lie. The last time (Oct 2022), they offered 175 for the iPad Vs 135 from apple, BUT surprise, "water damage, so we can only offer 19" I refused and sent it to apple and they confirmed no damage and gave me the whole 135. A total sham; please avoid them.
I purchased a phone from MusicMagpie more than 12 months ago, and it has now been reported as stolen and blacklisted by all carriers. I contacted their support to have this resolved, and they take no responsibility, please see the ending to our chat conversation below:
I sent 7 boxes of cds, each box had around 40 - 45 cds in. Not one box was paid out for the amount quoted! I received payment for 6 out of the 7 boxes but for less than they quoted, even though they say they guarantee to pay you the amount quoted? I am currently waiting for payment for the 7th box which they say they received 3 weeks ago, but after sending numerous emails to customer services, I am getting no replies or payment! Definitely wouldn't use or recommend them again.
I bought a phone on a monthly payment plan but didn't read the small print and it is actually a rental be very careful read all the terms. I thought it was only for 12 months but it was on a rolling contract and I didn't realise until I had paid an extra 5 months. They then made me return device which I did and had proof of postage but they then said the box was empty, ridiculous!. Avoid avoid so not worth the hassle for a 2nd hand phone.
Answer: They quote you a price then say it does not pass the quality checks. They will also not send the items back as they get 'recycled'
Answer: On eBay ‘webuybooks' are often much better described in regard to quality, I've had nice quality games (clean and good condition). If there is any minor disc scratches/marks they do state that so we know before purchasing. Their pricing sometimes changes so at times you can get a great deal if your lucky and grab it before someone else does (similar to MM). They don't hold as many games as MM do and won't always beat their price but they have been reliable in my experience
