Terrible website and terrible experience. My first sale, I sent out a 4K blu-ray, but I didn't get a tracking number because I wasn't offered that option at the post office. The buyer said that he never got the package and that the tracking number didn't work (it was a receipt number). So because the buyer won't rate me, my transaction was cancelled, and the buyer got my item for free. If you don't get a tracking number, you will be screwed and taken advantage of! Don't sell with these guys! I reported my problem, and a customer service representative scolded me and said that this was my last warning and that if I didn't use tracking numbers going forward that they were going to revoke my ability to sell. Well, I'm canceling all of my listings and never selling here again! It's a freakin' joke!
This site is a damn scam! And when you try to contact them the recording states that there is no one available (typical). Let the buyer beware!
I use Mercari faithfully! Always receive my items and stuff i sell sales pretty quickly! The trick is to ask the buyer "how soon can you ship this" before buying.
It's almost impossible to contact them despite their contact us button. You have to choose options that doesn't fit.
A return does not go by their policies, it basically goes based on the person doing it and what they want to do. 2 examples. An item received that was suppose to be new and original packaging clearly wasn't but they deny a return. They say the don't accept returns for smells but clearly did. Examples and pictures of all available and provided by their minimum wage workers decide based on their mood of the day.
Don't buy or use mercari. It's not worth the hassle of receiving an empty box where tracking shows delivered but not what's in it.
Mercari has no way to override the system as to what they THINK your address should be. I live on an "Extension", and Mercari does not recognize the street name with the "Extension" on it. I contacted them and they basically said 'oh well, it's an automated system and there is nothing we can do, just ship to an alternate address'. While I didn't like that idea, I did really want the item so I had it shipped to my office (an address it does acknowledge that it exists). That being said, I now run into problems with billing. All of my cards are linked to my real address which has the 'Extension', so using the site is now a nightmare. Their customer service leads a lot to be desired. They do not offer any real answers and they don't seem to care either.

I purchased an item from "this and That" shop. The reviews on Mercari were good. My credit card was charged even though they stated that it wouldn't be until I received the item. A shipping label was created and no tracking information was available days later. There was also no reported scanning of the label or any movement of the package from the origin/location of the seller. I am not sure if the item was ever sent in the mail or if the label was just created for me to believe it was in transit. I just don't trust this site. Don't use. I contested the charge through my credit card account by disputing the charge and it was resolved.

Please understand that when buying a product on the app, you'll immediately be charged at the time of purchase, but these funds will not be available to your seller until they send the item their buyer receives, inspects, and rates the transaction. In the case that your seller does not ship or an item is not received we'd be more than happy to cancel an order, reimbursing the buyer in their original form of payment.

They send you the wrong size or product and then you are stuck. Never using this mercari app again. Don't buy from this mystery sellers.

Be careful they can to take your money and give you the wrong product Rick you have a girl pretty good I thought I hit gold fighting all this make up for cheaper prices but then if you order something if you got the wrong order they wouldn't give you your money back and you just be stuck with it I would not recommend it it's not worth it

Not too good for sellers or buyers
The sole of my boots came off the 2nd. Time I wore them. Mercari policy says you can not return them after you've given a review or 3 days past the date you receive the item. Also, there's literally no way to contact Mercari, even through email.!?
Thankfully the seller was really cool and helpful. They told me they had to reach them on. Facebook messenger. They were so nice about it I looked into shoe glue and decided to fix them myself. They fit well which is difficult for me.
So again, if you find a. Good seller then it's worth it. If not, stick to other selling sites.
I've also heard it's easy for sellers to not get paid on that site. They only get paid when the seller leaves the review. It's bizarre. It might work if people could contact them.

There are a lot of great buyers and sellers on Mercari, The app is fairly easy to use. All my buyers have been great people and once my bank account was set up with the site, every time I have requested a draft of my earnings, it is done in 1-2 business days. I do wish they had a vacation hold for your listings and a way for customers to bundle multiple items from your Mercari store. Of course like anywhere in life or dealing with the public, you may end up with someone who is impossible to deal with or just a plain scammer. It is sad to see so many people give this site a bad review because of a problem beyond Mercari's control. Overall it is a great site, I get sales every week. Eventually I am sure I will have a problem, but you will with any sales anywhere. You will always get lowball offers. If you sell on Craigslist you will meet skeevy people in person. I operate a retail store, people come in open packaging and destroy merchandise, break things accidentally throw things on the floor, go in to try things on in the dressing room and leave a mess of clothes everywhere you need to spend hours re-hanging and then some are just thieves and outright shoplift merchandise! If you are selling online you will need to deal with lowball offers and you may occasionally need to deal with a fraudulent return or possibly a theft of one of you items from a scammer buyer, it is simply a cost of doing business and, trust me, is MUCH easier than dealing with people in person. If you can't handle the occasional problem, you should not blame the site, blame mankind in general.

I bought an item which the seller termed "in good condition." When it arrived, it was missing a part. I contacted Mercari and asked to return the item for a refund. I just received pre-generated e-mails saying since the seller had " held up their end" they would release my funds to him/her and give me "Mercari credit." I am out $18.00. Don't let this happen to you.
They let someone return an item to me THAT THEY DAMAGED, and will not do anything about it.
All you get is automated messages. And 5 days later you get another automated message that states people can pretty much return an item for anything and not reimburse you for packaging fees and or damage to the item during shipping or while in the buyers posession
Mercari works hard to make sure that it's a miserable experience for sellers and buyers. They refuse to delete things that have sold and they make it hard for sellers to delete things that sold ON OTHER SITES. They make you pay for return shipping when someone cancels an order. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!

When browsing listings, please note that you can "filter" sold listings from your searches, and when selling, you can "deactivate" any items you may have listed that recently become unavailable.

If I would have known it takes up to 3 weeks to get paid I never would have signed up this selling site sucks period! Run don't walk away from the app.

Please understand that when an item is purchased on Mercari, we'll immediately charge a buyer for their order. Once a seller packages, ships, and it is delivered to the indicated address, buyers have 3 full days in which to request a return or complete the transaction. At that time, those funds will be immediately transferred to your Mercari Balance!
Although this process means it may take several days to receive your funds, it shouldn't take 3 weeks! I sold an item to someone on mercari. They got their shoes. My money still hasn't even been deposited into my account. Still, my stupid self decides to purchase something for this seller. I get home from work thinking whatever i purchased would be there after work since usps told me it was delivered and the app notified me also. Guess what? No package. Make sure to use ebay only. Everything else is garbage.
I'm so so disappointed and not very happy with this. Said my account is Suspended and Closed account without knowledge. I just join this since June 2018. I'm very disappointed this app Mercari company such horrible.

Signed up, placed ad-they removed it ASAP for some reason I can't figure out for sure-NO way to contact them-NO way to remove account. Would never attempt to use again or recommend. None of website pages will come up-they say delete cookies-did so, still will not load. Therefore unable to do a thing on there.

I used this app for over a year and never had a problem with anything UNTIL I uploaded a vintage AUTHENTIC Louis Vuitton wallet and it got taken down because I did not include a picture of the date code! This listing was taken down multiple times and my privileges were suspended each and every time! My frustration is due to the fact that the item was authentic, I emailed them to do their research about authentic vintage goods, they do NOT need a date code to be real! Not only that but they deleted my account after I sent this email! P.S. They are extremely hard to reach! F*ck this company.

Answer: Please contact the Federal Trade Commision and Internet Crime Complaint Center. (IC3). It is illegal to keep anyones money! The IRS would like to know where all this money is also? Whos paying taxes on it? FTC will get your money! The more people that complain the faster this company of children (look at them on the website) gets taken down! The faster we all get paid!
