I signed up, and after signing up a friend told me to use their coupon code. Apparently, you can only load coupons when you first sign up... I deleted my account but couldn't make a new account because my phone was already registered or something. Really terrible app and website. Not user friendly AT ALL. Will never be purchasing anything from this website. Just use eBay instead, it's better anyway.
I sold a authentic Valentino handbag with tag and certificate of authenticity and buyer still called to fake which I didn't understand at first. And it was approved for return bc mercari doesn't know who to side with! When it was returned to me it was stained with jeans stains (it's a light nude pink bag). Mercari said that they don't know if it was stained prior to me selling the item!
They will randomly ban your account for no reason and not even give you an explanation why!
Customer service doesn't exist impossible to get anyone on the phone it seems like one person is running an entire company save your self the trouble and use eBay!
I mostly sell on Mercari and rarely buy. I don't sell anything with real value because I'm terrified based on reviews to get scammed. My biggest issues are really the changes to the app in the last year or so. First, shipping keeps getting higher and higher, which I know isn't completely their fault but other platforms I sell on haven't gone up this much. They make you pay 2$ to withdraw money if you have less than 10$, which sucks because I've been selling considerably less over the past year and don't always know how long it will take me to get to 10$. They now make your items inactive after a ridiculously short amount of time, and it takes extra work to activate them again (especially if you have a lot). It's near impossible to get a hold of someone with the company. I do like how they now automatically rate you if your buyer didn't within 3 days, so that is good. I'm giving it a 3 because I've never had any major issues but over time this service seems to have progressively gotten worse and harder to sell on instead of better.
I bought a signed Joe Montana football and then I returned it in the mail and the mail people lost it or something and I showed macari the receipts and when it left I showed them everything and they still made me pay like I think it was like $200 for the football after I sent it back and they person said they never got it so yeah you pretty much get ripped out there
I purchased ser a pair of Earno hearing aids for $850 and two weeks after receiving them one failed. After a few weeks of meaningless back and forth with Mercari I gave up waiting my time. This with Merciari then took me past the time I could leave a comment for the seller. So, the end is the seller got my $850 and I have nothing.
I started selling Feb 10 2019 during a snow storm with nothing to to but look at piles if stuff to sell.
I listed a bunch of baby clothes, cloth diapers and household stuff. Excitement grew as my pending balance did.
I quickly found that FedEx is very slowly but the cheapest method to ship.
On Feb 22 I ran into my first issues. FEDEX dropped a mini crib off at my door. Tape is falling off, box falling apart. How did they accept this?!?
No interior packing, bubble wrap or anything. This mini crib is values at $340 plus tax. I paid $153 plus $30 shipping.
Wheels bent, damage to paint, and the heavy duty staples from reused box left 12 rusty indentions on the side of the crib.
Mercari waited 4 days to finally get back to me except I didn't get the notification. I had been writing everyday. I got one a day later when they said I didn't respond and closed the case. I had opened a case with FedEx but that will take 10-15 days and the money goes to the seller. Now I paid $183 for a junk crib and the seller keeps money and possibly keeps insurance money up to $340 for replacement! I even offered to just take $75 to cover cost if new wheels, paint touch up from company and shipping/tax. Seller agreed but then disappeared.
Only way to contact company is to go through help center but they don't respond. And when they do, you don't get a notification.
They also delete messages between you and other party involved. Take screen shots right away.
This company is bs. They said they delivered my package I never got nothing so i notify them and also notify my paypal account and mecari had the nerves to send me a uncomfortable email. Im still havent got any issue resolve but a call fed ex for your package and for them to pay for it. So people if you order with them and don't receive your package they will only give you website credit or tell you call who ever delivered the package for them to give you the money.
People, please, don't use Mercari! They never read your emails! They close my account unreasonably and my balance over 1,000 is on hold for 3 month! They are so unprofessional! This platform must be deleted from Americans marketplace!
I can say a lot about Mercari! First, I definitely not recommend to use this platform for sellers! They don't have customer service and support at all! Competitors can easily report that you sell counterfeit items and Mercari delete your listing immediately. Even if you will send them proves... they can suspend your account unreasonably, based on someone opinion. Mercari makes things too complicated! When you register, it takes few minutes. After I sent them proves that my item is authentic, they requested ID verification, after that-Checking account ID verification. You should scan you passport, driver license or UD, then make selfie! It's rediculous. No one platform makes the things like that! And believe me, doesn't make sense to email them. You receive robotics answers by someone's name. They don't take care and don't even try to figure out what's going on! Don't use Mercari!

Buyers can repeatedly cancel for no reason and still be issued a refund, your shipping cost is not refunded. Really bad customer service, your money isn't released until the buyer decides to rate you, unlike ebay.
They're complete frauds and customer service is non-existent. I was sold a falsely advertised skirt. It was neither the brand nor even the size advertised. I immediately sent a detailed description and multiple pictures clearly showing the incorrect size (size large when it was adveryised as a size small), lack of brand (supposed to be Windsor), and very cheap construction (further inconsistent with the brand if they were to even argue that the tags had been cut out; no lining no store tags, the sizing tag is clearly not of the store, shedding sequins)They denied my request, ignored my additional appeals for help, and blocked me from contacting the seller. I posted a review several months later and was contacted by Mercari who after wasting much of my time... agreed to give me store credit that would expire in 30 days. When I said that was unacceptable they said I was abusive to their staff and that there would be no other offers. There is no customer support and the the "support" that exist are a complete farce. DO NOT USE MERCARI. If there's a class-action lawsuit against their unlawful asses, count me in!

I purchased what was billed as a 'reparable' iPhone 5s. After the device was paid for and shipped, I diagnosed the device and discovered that the phone was water damaged and its components corroded beyond repair. The phone was, in fact, junk, non-reparable.
Stay far, far away from theeis sham of a business! I purchased an item on January 26 and got notice of it shipping February 1. When there was no tracking available (usps said label was created but no product) I messaged the idiot that I bought from. Next day I received an email stating seller cancelled order because of problem with paypal payments. Wtf? 11 days, order confirmed and shipped on my page, no communication with idiot seller and then an email saying its cancelled. When I attempted to contact mercari... hahahahahahahaha... on hold for 10 minutes only to be told too many calls on hold and goodbye. Wow... both this seller and this business are horrible and I suggest to make your purchases aanywhere but here.
I purchased a modem and it was never shipped even though Mercari said it was. After both myself and Mercari contacted the seller LeggoDaEggo there was no response from the seller and Mercari insisted my order was shipped and I received it. I live in Connecticut and they claimed I received it in Illinois so they paid the seller and told me my order was completed. After several emails and phone conversations with different team members I was given a supposedly credit on my account and a coupon for 25% off my next purchase. That never showed on my account. After many emails and phone calls I was able to get my money back but I will never use this company again. I also would stay clear of a seller known as LeggoDaEggo.
I sent an offer to a seller after asking a bunch of questions about their product. They accepted my offer, then canceled it immediately and relisted the item for $210 more. Don't even waste your time. This ap is a joke.
This company did absolutely NOTHING to resolve the issue I had with a buyer... I had a rating on my account that was unfair and probably spam, and they refused to take it off - decreasing my overall rating. Their rating system is really effed up!
I would NOT recommend selling full time with Mercari... they just aren't fair towards sellers. Poshmark is much better in this area...
