First of all why should they be able to tell me how often I should mark down my items. Then if one person likes your item and you offer it to them you can't offer to anyone else for 3 days. Why? Then a seller requested that I cancel her order, but if I cancel the order it goes against my selling privileges. So I sent the order to her then she gave me a nasty review but kept the item. I contacted them and told them what happened and they said unless she requested they change the review they wouldn't. She said I shipped too slow, she bought Saturday night and I shipped Monday morning, she said the item was dirty, it was brand new in package and had no dirt, but they won't fox the review. It's a horrible site! Poshmark isn't great but I highly prefer it over Mercari any day. Plus it takes up to a week for them to deposit your money in the bank after it's in your Mercari account. Poshmark is 2 days!
I have only tried to buy from Mercari once, and sadly it will be my last. I was so excited to find a rare treasure on this website, only to never receive it. The seller had 3 days to ship the item, so after 5 days I attempted contacting the seller and Mercari to no avail. Is this an actual legitimate website?
Cheating transactions! The calculator I bought from the company is not working properly since the screen does not display all the number. I even could not make a contact with the seller because the company close all the contact channels after 3 days of delivery.

I purchased a used vhs deck from Zaza's Closet. The order has the correct address, but Zaza sent it to the wrong address, per USPS, who I had to spend several phone calls and hours to contact. Mercari told me to wait 48 hours to make sure the package wasn't just incorrectly listed as delivered, and by that time, when I finally got through to USPS and found out it had gone to the wrong address, Mercari had given Zaza's closet an automatic five-star review on my behalf for a product I never received. When I messaged Zaza, they said tough, it was delivered (to the wrong address) and without saying they would resend the deck if the wrong recipient returned it, Zaza blocked me, making it impossible for me to contact them.
I tried making an account w/ Mercari so I could save a page, for a product that I'm looking to buy. Everything went smoothly until I put the wrong code sent to my phone. I put the number that texted me rather than the actual code sent because I'm an idiot. Now they wont let me finish making the account, cant use my Google acct or FB acct, apparently they can't find an email that matches either accts? Uhh wtf does that even mean? I use my email to log in to BOTH accounts & BOTH accts are active. They seem to be bigger idiots than me. Oh & I cant use a different email w/ my phone number because even though the acct DIDNT complete or go through, they SAVED MY PHONE NUMBER. What a POS website. I'll stick to Ebay. Thanks for nothing.
First of all, I have made some sells on mercari. All 5 star ratings. Then suddenly I received a message saying my account is closed due to I have multiple accounts. I only have one account, not sure how they come up with that, then they need to verify my identity again which I already did when I signed up the account. Whatever then I verified my identity, the next day I received a message saying I violated their policy sold non authentic items... omg... that's more frustrating, because everything I have sold are Authentic and buyers gave me 5 stars review. So they decided to close my account and hold my money for ridiculous nonsense reasons they made up! I mean, seriously? I have over $600 in my account and I have to wait 90 days to receive it. To whoever want to buy or sell on Mercari, BE CAREFUL! They will "steal" your money and give you some nonsense reasons, the call center no one can handle this problem, contacted the mercari on Facebook, no one can help either, you can only deal with people that through the App, Email them and wait a day to get back with you, it's BS! Save your time, money and energy sell or buy at somewhere else. I am not gonna let it go, I have talked to attorney general in my state, and we will go from there.

To the buyers complaining about Mercari:
If you used paypal, you have Paypal Purchase protection. File an 'not as described' claim within 180 days of your purchase or payment.
If you paid with a credit card, do a chargeback.
I sold some brand new Zara shoes. I had pictures of the whole shoes and size. Size 40 is a size 10. I wear a 10 fits me prefect. The lady said she's a 9 1/2 and the shoes were way to small. She lied. Mercari approved her to get her refund back. No refunds! Sold as is. Smh closing my closet for good
It's good unless you have to do a return. Once you've gotten the product they FORCE you to rate the seller and once you have they REFUSE to give you a refund. JUST STAY AWAY
Over a month ago, I ordered a bag from Mercari, and the item never arrived. I contacted Mercari within 1 day of USPS being marked as delivered. They said they followed up with USPS and paid the seller. I noticed the seller had the exact same item still on her site, pointed it out to Mercari, and they ignored me. So, I contacted my bank to dispute this claim. Mercari immediately suspended my account telling me why. I had a previous account and dealt with a very aggressive and angry seller so I opened another account - never used the other one again. I had sold a bad on my new account and couldn't take out my funds bc the bank account was used twice. And then I noticed my account was suspended. They said it was because I disputed with my bank and immediately asked me to reverse. I said I would not, and they sent me paragraphs stating they used my funds to pay for the claim by the bank, and immediately shut down my account. I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone since then. They violated their own terms many times (not granting buyer protection), suspended my account without warning, and then force closed my account without permission. I was reading their policies and they list, in capital, no law suits and no class action suits. They must realize that these 700+ people giving them 1 stars would take them out of business. Truly a terrible and disgusting website. Becareful! I'm glad mine was only $90! I saw people lose hundreds to thousands after having their account closed and money stolen.
My 15 year old son purchased a iPhone X on the Mercado site. We received the phone only to find out it had a broken camera. We contacted the seller who said he would pay for the fix but he kept on saying " please mark it received" my son refused until he paid for the repair. What we didn't know was Mercari monitors the tracking number and after three days they mark it received and give the seller a 5 star rating. Once this happened the seller blocked us which made it impossible to contact him or write a review. We contacted mercari on 9 occasions explains the situation. On 5 of those calls I requested to speak with a supervisor which I was assured would contact me by the end of the business day. Not once did we receive a phone call or an email from a supervisor. Instead I received 4 emails from team members saying they were sorry but there is nothing they could do! Not once in the 9 times I contacted them and spoke to them did anyone say, " let me contact the seller to see if we could resolve this issue"! It's been two weeks since we received the phone and today we learned not only did the seller sell my son a defective phone he reported it stolen and collected the insurance money. The phone has now been shut down by AT&T and we were told it is the property of the insurance company and is it completely unusable! I called mercari back to let them know the additional information I just obtained and received an email 4 hours later saying sorry there's nothing we can do! This seller is scamming people using mercari's policy's and they won't do anything about it! You would be crazy to purchase anything using this site because they don't back the buyer at all! Maybe that's why they've received so many one star ratings!
So i took a chance and placed an order for a hard to find item. Yea, it was too good to be true. 12 days later the item is still processing though I got an email that stated it would ship in 3 days. I initiated communication with the seller through Paypal inquiring when the item would ship. The next day I got a refund with no explanation about my order. However, I was told if I don't use their help section in the future- my account would be suspended. Buyers proceed with caution with this company.
I just had a buyer send back a pair of Rayban sunglasses(that were new) that were worn, and broken. 6 days after she receive delivery... they basically said "sorry about your luck"
They grant buyers returns without telling the seller why or giving the seller the opportunity to defend themself or the item. So now my item went to a strangers house, was damaged by them, then returned. So I am out payment and the ability to resell. I deleted my account! Stick with poshmark... better policies and more reputable.
I tried Mercari for the first time when I saw an item that was new that I had been looking for. The seller was quick to answer my questions and post new pictures so I knew the item was real and new. The price was fair and I got the item in a timely manner- they mailed the next day. I was very lucky, and I got what I wanted. The site uses the USPS- which is bad- that alone will keep me from shopping there. The seller was great, but Mercari would not give me the 10% off as advertised because they want you to use the app that does not work. I want my 10% and mercari won't give it to me, so I will not be returning to the site. Secondly, unlike poshmark and ebay, there is no zoom feature. That is the easiest feature to have- mercari does not have it because they dont want you to examine the products close up. I can see how a sale can go really wrong on this site. You would need to know the seller to be sure of what you are getting. Buyers could get over on a seller as well- as I have seen via these complaints.
I have sold on Mercari for seven months. They have always been responsive when I had an issue as a seller or buyer. The app is user friendly and the fees are not excessive. For ease of use I give 5 stars. Things went pretty well until I successfully started selling handbags. I have Authentic items but don't like to reveal where I get my items from. I don't know of any restaurant that gives out their secret sauce. I don't know of any business that gives out their wholesaler. I would get questions from potential buyers which is fine. But I noticed the most antagonizing confrontations came from other sellers or low ballers that asked for already heavily reduced items at half off. These miserable people would flag your items out of sheer jealousy. Just a few days ago a miserable lump of flesh came messaged me and asked me to post serial number to which I responded I would when I got home. She instantly reported she was going to report me. So I asked for what? I looked on her page and she sold a Louis Vuitton bag with none of the LV signature hallmarks. I did in fact post my serial numbers and a receipt. Another person asked if they could have my original receipt?! Which I stated "no". Where where where do these self entitled delusional existences come from? You are getting a bag for at least 60% off retail but you want a full price receipt?! With MY information?! So THAT item got flagged and now my account is under review. Something is going on at Mercari. There are certain sellers that never post any proof of authencity and they never get touched. I have seen a few sellers with HUNDREDS of LV bags with no proof of authencity and nothing ever happens to them. I'm starting to think employees and particular Japanese sellers are favored on Mercari. If anyone outside of that makes too many sales they become a target. My gripe with Mercari is them suspending my account without giving me a way to respond and without them being able to prove that item was not Authentic. I see plenty of sellers that never show receipts. Frankly in resell don't think you should have to provide everything like a retail store. I do think you should be able to show Authentic hallmarks. But Mercari seems to have different rules for different sellers.
I order a product and was sent a mini sample. (Samples have no box or covering to show it has never been opened). That's because, they are samples, not something to be sold!
I returned the item and Mercari refused to refund my money saying I did not return it going through their usual process!
I am now without a product or my money.

Customer service is so so one time it's good then next person sounds like a 5th grader. Mercari has no phone number to contact them. They take 10% of your sale but cant spring for customer REAL service via phone? AND to top it off the apps not compatible with both my tablet & I pad!?
Only my phone is comparible which makes it more difficult since my phone dosent take great pics. Which in return can cost you sales... which equals money. I prefer Ebay BUT whatever your selling theres ******* other people selling the same item hence me using Mercari.
Idk why so many people say theres no way to talk to a real person or that customer service doesnt answer phone... I actually just called them last night. I was having an issue with the instant pay option and the nice man I spoke with in their C. S. got me on the right track within minutes AND he found out someone had opened another mercari account with the same debit card I have linked to my real account. There was no issues, he just unlinked it from fake/scam account and deleted that account and I was able to transfer my money to my bank account within 5 min. I've been warned I believe... 3 times now. Because in description of some posts I'd ask potential buyers to please mess me via fb. Found out quickly that's not allowed. But I buy and sell on there ALL the time. And, knock on wood, no issues with any buyers yet, and all items purchased have arrived in exact condition described. But, I also belong a certain community of people who buy and sell from the same companies I do, and for the most part they all legit. I actually sell on fb as well, but I find I prefer the safety and 100% money back guarantee from mercari and the fact I can print labels right from home as soon as someone buys. Goodluck to everyone else I guess... I feel like alot of these complaints are from people who tried scamming someone and mercari didnt fall for their bs. Just my opinion.
Answer: Please contact the Federal Trade Commision and Internet Crime Complaint Center. (IC3). It is illegal to keep anyones money! The IRS would like to know where all this money is also? Whos paying taxes on it? FTC will get your money! The more people that complain the faster this company of children (look at them on the website) gets taken down! The faster we all get paid!
