Last night I purchased a Jurassic World Irritator. I paid way too much for it but was thrilled that my grandson would have it in time for his birthday. I paid immediately through paypal. This morning upon checking my email I realized that the seller canceled my order. When I asked why it was canceled the response was, " I have never purchased anything through MERCARI before so, of course, my order was canceled." Seriously? My money is not as good as those that have shopped on MERCARI before. That kind of thinking from MERCARI sellers guarantees that they won't be able to build their business. I checked the seller's sales, albiet after my sale was cancelled, and discovered he/she frequently cancels orders. That pretty much guarantees there will never be new customers. Not a smart business practice. I know I won't be shopping there again.
Mercari does not have ANY safety net or help for sellers who receive unjust ratings. Even when it can be proven in your transactions and history.
A user bought a mens wedding ring from me and then claimed she ordered a women's bridal set item from me as well even though she didn't. When leaving feedback for the men's ring, she actually gave me a poor rating claiming the non-existent ladies bridal set never arrived.
The item I sold her arrived and was perfect but she left me bad feedback for something else that I didn't sell her. She is confusing me with another seller. I checked all of my sold items and she never bought a wedding set from me as she claims, I never sold anything for $60 which she claims, and I never blocked her which she also claims in her rating. She has obviously mistaken me for another user and left me poor feedback for their mistake. I attempted to message this user, but it says I cannot contact them because the transaction is over.
This is very poor management and a very unfair system when mistakes are made. There has to some type of protection in place for unjust ratings or mistakes that can be proven. I asked Mercari to have this feedback removed or changed and to le the user to know she has made a mistake because she did not rate me based on the item she bought from me, but on her interactions with another seller - MISTAKEN FOR ME.
Mercari refused to clear this up. One of their team members, Angel, never investigated this but simply copied and pasted their statement about ratings from the website giving me a "gentle reminder" that it can't be changed. I find this very unfair, especially since I can prove in my selling history that I never sold her the item she complains about in her feedback. Mercari needs to step up and provide some protection for sellers or sellers are going to leave. I am going back to Ebay because although their are fees and many rules, at least they protect sellers when they are wronged.
Don't sell on Mercari. Also... don't buy on Mercari. I have seen so many fake products, particularly jewelry, that sellers are passing off as genuine and scamming the buyers. The buyer only has 3 days to complete the transaction and rate it, so they don't even have time to realize their product is a fake. SKIP MERCARI... GO ELSEWHERE as a buyer and a seller!
After receiving a broken item. I gave up after a week and twenty emails trying to return it. Avoid this like the plague.
NEVER BUY OR Sell on Mercari. They support people scamming on their website! If you get a counterfeit card like I did they will not refund you. It was only a $13 card but i buy thousands worth of cards sometimes one card is a thousand plus. Clearly if it was a $1000 card they still would stand by the scammer. This makes them just as guilty if not worse! They give you automated responses. They do not care about their customers experiences. They are the definition of greed. Their excuse is I left feedback. Well I didn't notice it was fake until my buddy pointed it out a few days after. And if you know Mercari they rush you and pressure you to leave feedback fast! Don't support their illegal practices! I hope they go out of business!
They suck balls I had over 1,000 reviews I had 5 stars and because I posted a designer inspired air pod case they close my account. It was my first unnecessary warning not multiple. This company is the worst I don't recommend it at all.
Very, very disappointed. I have made several purchases. A few were good but a few have not been good, items of smoke, items not in good shape. I guess just bad purchases.
So I made my first sale. $5 to ship with a $8.50 profit. I put in my information and wait and wait. 2 weeks later I get a message the account information isn't right... they deduct $2 from my profit. So now 2 weeks ago I up front ship for $5 2 of products already worth more than the measles $8.50 profit and now I have $6.50.
So I delete my account and say forget it.
Overall experience is horrible.
I've been selling on Mercari for years and every interaction I've has with customer service has been abysmal. They do not respond to questions or deal with issues, they simply tell you too bad it's not our problem and steal your money. I sold an item and out of the blue Mercari cancelled the transaction WHILE THE ITEM WAS ALREADY IN TRANSIT. I contacted them and they told me that they refunded the buyer and there was nothing I could do?! They straight up stole my item and refuse to give me my money back. Stay far away from this app.
If I could give this site no stars I would. It's a lie and a sham. There is no customer service team. They sabotaged my sale, cheated me out of shipping charges and then put on my profile false information to sabotage my seller profile. They say they are easy to get in touch with for customer support, they are not. They will not help you. They are not there to help you. When you choose "contact us" you are cycled back to the help FAQ page. I had to google search their support number and email. BARB, responded 7 hours later and was unable to tell me where to find basic information they must supply me. Going back to eBay and VERY sorry I tried this site at all. Never again.
They do not even deserve one star -- item may look cheap but if the item when received is not working ro as indicated... forget about asking for a refund it will not happen.

Mercari? More like Mercreepy. Makes ebay look like Saks Fifth Avenue. It's a den of thieves. Do business there and you'll regret it.
I haven't had any bad experiences with Mercari. I just wish the standard search engine results were only for items for sale, and then you have the option to include sold items (I'm not sure why you would want that as the default).
From start to finish, Mercari as a buyer platform was a horrible experience. I was able to find and place an order but from there it was all downhill. The seller failed to send the item and it took weeks to figure out how to cancel the order and get a refund. Their help center is completed convoluted; you'll waste considerable time figuring out how to maneuver through their circular help loop. They don't even get "unsubscribe" right! No unsubscribe option included with continued emails requiring you to go back to their Contactless "help" center then, instead of a one button process to unsubscribe, you'll have to hit about 30 buttons to turn off every single type of notification they could think of. Don't go near this site if you value your time and money.
Is there anyone on here that can actually get ahold of anyone some customer service. Without listing all the BS I have gone through nutshell I've been on mercari for over 5 years from day one I have done all profile verification including submitted driver's license. I started racking up some money from selling some stuff then they suspended my account. I have read from a lot of people when your money starts going up they hold it. Got an email saying thank you for verifying please submit receipt of items that you are selling so that we can proceed to review your account. I was like what. As strange as that was I submitted receipts. Still when I go to my profile it states in my inbox verify so I click on it and it says thank you for verifying. However I cannot direct deposit my money into my account that i earned with my stuff. And buyers cannot purchase my product on my page. Is there anyone here from customer service for god sakes.
PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO PURCHASE ITEMS BUT CANNOT. THIS IS WRONG WRONG WRONG. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRANSFER MY MONEY. THIS IS INSANE. Mercari is great UNTIL something goes wrong. I mostly sell rather than buy. I use USPS when shipping. My items were lost in transit and Mercari cancelled the transaction without notice. I filed multiple claims to USPS & Mercari. Mercari customer support is awful. There is no protection for sellers, just buyers. I lost money from the items lost in transit and from the shipping costs.
Terrible company to list products with they spew orders at u if u misunderstand they dont care they just shut you down. Terrible people no heart
They provided wrong shipping options and weight and post office wouldn't deliver without extra shipping. Seller said they just choose what Mercari defaulted to. Mercari states in their help under "Why was I charged for overdue postage?" (apparently they have this happen so often they created a help section specifically for it) that they will credit you back with store credit and deduct from seller. They also told me this in a chat. However, once I paid the extra 5.63 in shipping, the credit they gave me was only good for 30 days. Had I known about the 30 day expiration, I would have refused delivery. At no point was I ever told about this expiration and it's not in their help section. When I brought this up to them, they said there's nothing they can do and marked the ticket as resolved.
Mercari says no returns except for not as described. My buyer changer his mind 20 minutes after I posted and said he was sending it back. Lied about condition. I'm out 35$ postage. They've seen my last money.
I ordered a hair care product and I received AN EMPTY CONTAINER! I contacted the seller who suggested that I repost it on Mercari and they would re-buy it. Sounded way too complicated and just wrong to me. So, when I tried to return it for a refund, there was NO link to a form to complete the return process. JUST STAY AWAY FROM MERCARI! Very disappointed: learn from my mistake and STAY AWAY.
Too many sellers who sell to a buyer but won't ship the item. Don't say shipping unless you follow up. Act with respect for your buyers.
I an pretty disappointed at mercari, I had the chance to buy a few times and sell once and the experience was not pleasant.
I could not find a way to contact the mercari website and after searching in the web I found a number where there is a message that says leave your name and number and we will contact you.
My last experience I bought a wireless headphones that where delivered on a friday afternoo, we have a manager on site to receive packages. I actually got the package on a sunday, everything seemed fine until I tried to pair the headphones with my phone, one of the pieces didn't work, so I sent a message to the seller explaining and he tells me to open a return when I try the mercari website won't let me saying the transaction was closed after 3 days and the item is no longer returnable. I tried to contact the website and again not only confusing but it keeps taking you to the question page and that's all. Buy at your own risk.
