I had an account for shopping. I tried to change my email in my account so I can sell. They wouldn't let me change the address or add a new one. They asked me to verify my account but I wasn't able to log in to do so as my password wasn't working. I reset my password and still couldn't login. I explained all this to them. Instead of helping me they shut down my account with no explanation. I set up another account but they shut that one down too with no explanation.
One of their sellers (HOT WHEELS AND STUFF in Cape Coral, FL) cancelled the transaction AFTER I had paid for an item. Not only is that unethical but it caused me to not bid on and thus miss out on a comparable item that is no longer available, making it a double whammy of disappointment. Most of all, Mercari would not allow me to leave an honest, objective review of the seller's practices because they claim there was no actual transaction to review (due to the cancellation). This lack of logic amounts to complicity and disdain for Mercari's users. Stay away!
I purchased a sweater that was much smaller than the one described and did not match the photo in the ad. Mercari made me send endless photos and measurements, all of which backed up my complaint, only to reject my request to return the item. Waste of time and money. Do not use this site.
Beware of selling on this site! This use to be a great place to sell things but now they've started scamming people on shipping! Keep your receipt at drop off. They will almost always try to charge you shipping overage when your item is under the weight and you will have to dispute it. It is up to you to prove the weight and it takes days to get it fixed! This app has went down hill and is no longer a safe platform to sell on.
They have a strict 3 day return policy, but won't let you return defective items. Sellers can dupe you easily and they're protected. Don't waste your money.
I've been unsatisfied with several items on Mercari been trying to work it out with the sellers and partial refunds so I had to return anything and their website shut you down and doesn't allow you to continue or do any returns this website as one of the worst and I'm losing money on it not doing it for a long buyers beware and I see I'm forced to give them one star which I don't wish I could give them any
Bought an item, the dumb seller sent the wrong item, I cancelled the order they threatened to not return my money if I left a negative review, I screen shot the email from them, don't buy from them, not worth the Hassle, they wanted my to wait for them to return my money, it was already 1 week of waiting on the item, I called my bank the same day, I did sent the item back, buyer be aware, they are not worth it
More times times than not I've had to have my money refunded or transaction canceled due to the seller (usually worth a good rating) never had responded or never shipped the item I had attempted to purchase. Mercari doesn't seem to do anything about sellers waisting peoples time. Some of the purchases I had made were as described but some were in lesser condition than described and depicted in pics provided. It's basically a crapshoot when it comes to making purchases on this site.

Saying her mom bought the same bag and found out that was not authentic either. I got it authenticated from proauthenticators saying its not authentic, meanwhile its listed on mercari as verified authentic, thats the only reason i bought it, until someone reach out to me saying i have to get authenticate again. I dispute with Paypal and message Mercari about it, reaches out to the seller but then blocked me after i told her its not authentic. I paid $1642 on the fake lv bumbag, and today this seller just sold another fake bag on mercari of course marked verified authentic. Waiting for mercari to get back to me, mean time i have to wait from paypal 90days. This is ridiculous, we need to stop this account misc_closet before she victimized more people for selling her counterfeit lv items. I bet there were others she scammed already.
If your spouse/someone in the same home also has an account with these guys. They will ask for multiple pictures of your license. Your credit card. Your social security numbers. Pictures of the front. The back. The barcode... HORRIBLE! This will lead to identity theft quick..
I bought a mother board in mercari, installed it and it didn't work then they tell me I can't send it back because I'm past the 3 days. They didn't even have the decency to call me back. They're terrible I'll never use that app again
Mercari allows counterfeit merchandise and will close out a buyers account for simply filing a claim. This is even more so when its an expensive item that they make a bigger commission on. They have zero customer service and their platform is a joke. If you've been scammed file a dispute with your bank. They need to be removed and shut down.

I sold on Mercari. I made 186.00. I had this in my account and got a hundred reasons why they couldn't deposit my money in my bank account. Later because I couldn't get my money in my bank, I decided to let my girlfriend spend that 186.00. Mercari didn't take the money out of my existing account, they took it out of my bank accout that they could not manage to put money in. They cost me my rent and I had to kill myself to make that money back in time. I will NEVER use Mercari again. I suggest that you do that same. This company does not care about you..
I ordered a pair of black flats ladies shoes from a seller. They fell apart while wearing them the first day! The soles split from the upper part and the buckled hung off! They had been held together for shipping by two sided tape! On closer inspection, there were places where the vinyl was coming off and hanging there in several places in the shoes. I have tried and tried to get a hold of Mercari to get my money back but no one ever writes back. WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS DISREPUTABLE COMPANY.
I've had 2 issues with Mercari recently. One as a seller where a buyer requested a refund on an item I didn't sell him. Mercari sided with the buyer even though I pointed out the photos he submitted came from another seller. Thankfully, when I emailed the buyer he didn't go though with the refund. Second, as a buyer, I ordered a women's medium shirt but received a kids medium. I requested a return and refund since it was advertised incorrectly but Mercari said returns for the wrong sizes is not part of their return policy. The item was incorrectly listed in the women's section, how is that not a part of a return policy? Do not recommend them based on customer service.
I put an offer for a camera that seemed like a good deal. The seller accepted my offer. Then cancelled the sale in 15 minutes. They then relisted the product at a much higher prices without some accessories. Mercari allows sellers to cancel transactions for any reason at any time. So sellers can keep canceling transaction and relisting to their hearts content.
I advise you not sell on Mercari, they ripped me off and just all of a suddened closed my shop. Wouldn't allow me to reopen it. Had just ordered some things and they came damaged. They won't let you back in to get it settled either. I did real good until all of a sudden they just closed me down. No explanation, nothing. Tried to open another shop and got nowhere. Mercari is a bad place to sell any product, First of all its very difficult to get any response from them. And when they respond back, they don't even answer your question! And I have to repeat my self over and over to get across to them! And second of all they promise to resolve the issue within 24 hrs and when that time comes, they don't have a resolution and the tell you it's still pending! And now it's been 2 weeks and still no resolution! Iam done with them! Horrible customer service.

Ordered from a seller that listed their item as a very popular high quality jewelry company and didnt measure the ring accurately. She sold me a ring she purchased off of aliexpress. I was told to show evidence that it was the incorrect size with a professional ring sizer (me, the buyer). They closed the ticket and I decided to take the loss to give the seller a review. Their policy states that if a buyer does not get refunded they can leave the seller a review. After leaving the review, I was notified they removed my review. That's against their policy. Nothing in my review was disrespectful, inappropriate, or untruthful. They protected this seller and removed her negative reviews. The reviews should be unfiltered. How else will other buyers to know what they are about to sign up for.
