Company claimed that I listed prohibited Baseball Cards, They were in fact 1989 Topps/Bowman Reprint HOFer Cards. I noted in my listings that they were Reprints and listed them for $2-5. They suspended my account and are holding $600 of my past sales balance. My satisfaction rate was 100 % positive and I had 75 Followers in two months. My balance was going to be used to visit two sick Family members in Florida. Please stay away from this platform. Total SCAM!

Bought a Atari handheld game system, found after 4 days, unit is defective, Mercari also left AUTO positive feedback (always after 3 days of delivery) and, paid seller and I have no recourse to either send unit back at sellers expense nor mine and no refund offered now thier polices SUCK.
Seller ghosted after saying they will take care of me, now they don't have too. As if a seller sells a defective unit and you don't know past 3 days. You are screwed. Completely & Utterly.
Worst buyer platform I had used in 21 yrs. Period, disgusted and sick to my stomach, and trying to roll a charge back to get my hard earned money back, is almost impossible, due to thier seller friendly, fee hungry, non buyer friendly platform, will never buy again from that crap site.
I did a password re-set on April 3rd. Then it did not recognize my device, so it texted a confirmation code to an old phone number. I sent a help desk on the same day. April 5th Mercari sent generic request saying they were looking into it. Then sent a message that my request needed extra care. No other contact from them until April 11th, and I received a response from a tech, and then another response from a different tech 36 mins later. April 13th, the 2nd tech contacts me he's closing the case because I didn't respond to him. (I responded to the first tech). So I re-sent info on April 13th. Today, April 16th, I was contacted that my case needs extra care. How hard to update a phone number when they were both in my name? App deleted and moving on! What would happen with this group if I had a hard problem?
Is looking like costumer service is like sleeping beauty. I waiting more then 4 days for refund and return label. People often citet like new but resel ve rd y unsanitary lingerie. Be car ed full. To many fake and flakey sellers on Mercari. To many times I bought items and sellers just don't send you anything and ignore all messages after 3-4 weeks nothing was shipped by sellers my messages are ignored. Zero help from customer service and what's worse you can't leave negative feed back of your experience. There for new buyers are left going through the same fake and stressful experiences as I have. After. So many weeks has passed and all your left is to cancel your purchases and have to wait 10+ days for a refund. Because your not allowed to leave a negative feed backs JUST STUPID!

They care nothing about the seller. They continue to cheat the seller and allow customers to do it as well. They used to be ok year's ago. Now they have become greedy and do not meet sellers needs.
Two buyers got my name and address reported they sent package and it was never sent! Mercari held onto $565 for several weeks. I've sent 15 or more requests and zero response. I fear identity theft in one seller that received all my info, I paid and then she immediately cancelled. If you receive no product or damaged YOU CANNOT Leave a review. Only good completed sales allow reviews. DO NOT USE mercari please. Save yourself the nightmare!
Sold an item and the buyer lied saying they item was dirty and the wrong size. Mercari "verified " that I sent the wrong shirt and sided with the buyer. Meanwhile the buyer sent Mercari a picture of a totally different shirt. I sent pictures of the shirt that was sent with tag and design, front and back proving the buyer lied and they still sided with them. So they don't verify anything nor does customer service help when you reach out to them. I was told to stop messaging them the case was solved. This app is a scam and customer service is a joke. Several other people with these issues. Don't buy or sell in this app. Save yourself the headache.
I bought a pair of sunglasses that was delivered to my mail box while
I was away for a long weekend. Sunday night I come home, retrieve the item and it is missing a nose pad. I emailed Mercari, they said basically "sorry it's past 72 hours and the transaction is closed, no returns".
I'm not using them again. And, for this transaction I'll have to contest it with my credit card.
If you receive damaged items (even if it obviously intentional), Mercari will use "policy" mumbo jumbo to approve the transaction and leave you with damaged goods. AVOID lilke the plague!
They give sellers false fie star reviews- I spent way too much on a designer sweat shirt that arrived with stains and holes, USPS put the package in the wrong locker / gave me the wrong key that means I lost a day right there also out of town that day so now I have lost 48 hours- I said something to the seller in time they acknowledged there may be an issue and then Mercari rated the seller and released the funds and gave the seller a 5 star rating. Don't shop here clearly sell here if your a shady seller
I ordered a recording device that came with the wrong charger in the box and when I got a charger for it and plugged or tried to plug it in the charging port slid back in device. Finally am able to plug in and it doesn't even work. Mercari submitted their own review and didn't even allow me to write my own and when I tried to put in for a return it goes to an error page! Buyers beaarey
After 3 purchases, 3 different sellers, I've never had my items even shipped out and had to wait 7- 10 days for a refund after waiting over a week for just to figure out I wasn't getting what I bought! Mercari experience was awful and deleted my account!
I have made 30 to 35 purchases on Mercari. I have found this site to be unprofessional, and their technology is rudimentary and flawed. For example, every time I make a purchase, I receive messages that I changed my address in the system even though I did not. Another example: even though paying with PayPal is an option when you submit an offer on an item, and I am able to complete the transaction, an error message appears afterward in the messages sectionr indicating "this card cannot be used." Mercari Support's response to my complaint is that PayPal cannot be used for submitting offers. Yet they have left it in the workflow for some time. I guess they're simply too unprofessional to clean up their systems even when they are aware of the defects. I refuse to store a credit card in their system since they have implemented technology so poorly; I have no confidence that they are keeping credit card information secure. Navigating their site and application is painful as well. The app doesn't even have a place to look up your purchases. You have to go to the main site for that. The searches work sometimes but if you enter more than one criteria, it frequently only returns data on one criteria. When you click to view an item and then try to return to where you were in the search you had implemented, it frequently punts you back to the very beginning and it's very, very painful to find where you formerly were. Response time is frequently slow. In addition to the pain of using their system, the way they allow vendors to do business doesn't make a lot of sense in general. For example, the seller is not required to put in the listing the color of the item they're selling. I can't possibly count all the times I've had to ask a seller the color of an item. Why would they not make that a required field for clothing? They also have a great many sellers that I consider to be deadbeats – that is, very unprofessional, TERRIBLE pictures, no measurements, little to no description about their listed items, and it is very common to find that the brand or size listed is contradictory to what I see in the pictures. In addition to bad and/or lacking information, The majority of sellers don't answer questions, and I've had several cancel my order with no explanation, cancel my order based on their own mistakes, and several others just never bothered to ship my item and I had to file for a refund. It's a very unprofessional site. They clearly do not set expectations with their sellers or hold them accountable for any kind of performance standards. I have complained and complained, and management does not improve anything. Ever.
I listed a Michele diamond watch on Mercari and was contacted almost immediately someone wanting to buy it. When they tried to purchase it the transaction wouldn't go through saying my account hadn't been verified. Then I was sent an email saying I had to go to CVS or Walmart and get a vanilla Visa card with $210 on it and send them a picture of the front and the back of it and the receipt then the transaction would be able to go through. Stupidly I did this then the buyer said they completed the transaction to purchase the watch, then I get an email saying I need to get another vanilla card with $499 on it to prove I was a reputable seller... Then they would refund me the $210, $499 the $1500 for the watch... What kind of c*** is this? $210 was immediately taken off the Visa debit card and it wasn't Mercari. I just told the buyer forget it after I realized they were scamming me... Then the buyer continued to harass me saying they couldn't reverse the transaction not my problem contact Mercari... I deleted my ac ount. Then I started reading reviews that this is a scam they do then they hold your funds and will not release them... so for me to sell my watch they wanted me to give them over $700 what for? These are deceptive practices... Do not list any items on Mercari and if I were you I would not buy a product on Mercari they do not answer their phone, they just send you emails, all they want is more money... Just another scam..
I added my card info as a seller and someone apparently hacked they're site and stole my credit card info and made almost $700 worth DoorDash purchases
So I bought a few things and sold some. But this one purse I sold on there was perfect never been used. Me being me I took pictures of the purse. The day I package and shipped it. Now it's been returned because of damages and she had it in her care for 24 hrs before she wanted to return it... So how is that right or fair. I sent undamaged goods out and get damages stuff back. There is no buyer seller protection

I just recently decided to try selling some items on Mercari after a couple years of mostly good buying experiences. Sold my first item without issue, but my second sale was an infuriating! After I took pictures of my items, I carefully packaged each one so they were ready for shipment. To be able to choose the best shipping option, I weighed each item AFTER it was packed. I KNOW my weight was accurate. However, 3 days after the item was delivered I received a message from Mercari saying the package was overweight by 2 ounces, so they charged me an additional $7 for shipping. Bringing the shipping cost to $14 for a 5x5 inch tile! Surely this must be a mistake? Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I emailed customer service. I explained the situation… only to be spammed with a bunch of automatic responses. No customer service. No f*cks given. They do admit that if the buyer overpays for shipping, they keep the excess money. So, they are bullying sellers into overcharging for shipping so they can keep the "extra" money. So sleazy, it should be illegal. I will not be using this app as a buyer or seller going forward.
