At first macari was a fantastic app. I bought alot of nice things from nice people. Always got my items on time. I had a couple of ordeals when a seller decided not to put up correct size of clothing. Macari do not do returns. You just lose your money. A couple of times macari did credit my account because of false advertisement.
I also sold alot of products which was fantastic also. I had great ratings and comments buying and selling.
But all of this was a to good to be true episode. I recently had unauthorized charges from macari on my credit card. Even though it was small amounts. I asked macari why did they charge my account. They claim it was for verification. After so call verifying my account. They never took the charges off. After I called my credit card for my own safety. I decided to put a block against macari. I was going to choose to use a debit card. Instead of using my credit card. But before I got a chance to use a debit card. Macari not only remove all of my items I was selling. But blocked me from buying again. After I repeatedly ask why couldn't I buy or sell on my account. They finally responded telling me because of unusual payments and how they are trying to keep a safe happy community they are deciding to delete my account.its funny how they made that decision after I had my credit card blocked.and decided to use a debit card.if you decide to use macari beware of unauthorized charges from macari. Even though they charge cards a little amount. They never pay it off. Just imagine taking 1.00 off of thousands of credit card users account. Thats thousands of free money they are getting.and they take little so no one will notice or complain. Well I did complain.and now they delete my account. Booooo on macari app.it was a good start with a bad ending
When I first signed up I thought "Finally a place to sell for no big fees", and while that is still true, I can't believe how customer service isn't very fair to sellers when a buyer wants a return based on false claims, never do they contact the seller to get their side on the claims. They decide if something is not as described based on what? I always list everything in the description, it isn't a sellers fault if a buyer doesn't read it, but the seller will get decided against. I think that unless the return department is knowledgeable in all items they cannot possibly make a fair decision. But, they don't want to upset the buyer, however if they are not careful they will lose sellers, and no sellers mean no buyers, which means no Mercari. I have bought on there as much as I sell so I understand that there could be legitimate issues, but some are completely false. So, your item sits until they decide against you, than you wait for the buyer to hopefully return the right item undamaged, and have to relist. Thanks, I appreciate it! If you get an honest buyer, pray they rate you, otherwise, you wait and wait to get your money, I mean they already have your item and if they decide to not rate, you have to wait 3 days, then start the request which means another day to wait and when Mercari gets to it, they will finally release your money. Seems completely reasonable to wait that long to get paid right? I mean as a seller you have 3 days to ship or that's it, you can be cancelled on that transaction, but buyers well, they can give you the run around to get paid and that's okay. Come on Mercari, you could be great but you are sabotaging yourself, stop allowing false claims for returns and trust me if I am selling lots of one particular item, I think i know what I'm doing, so if you decide one transaction of 30 is not as described, who exactly is the expert on that? I believe it's the buyer who didn't read the description, not that it's falsely described, I would rather pay more in fees elsewhere than continue to see this kind of customer service that is unfair to sellers. UPDATE: since writing this review things have gotten worse! As most reviewers are stating, and I touched on above, the customer service is absolutely horrible, a business can thrive or die on the quality of their representatives, and mercari's is slowly killing itself, most reliable, trustworthy sellers won't stay with a platform that cannot provide at least decent customer service. Smart buyers won't be willing to trust in a company that can't do something as simple as provide a basic, courteous, knowledgeable and timely service. I just, like today had yet another horrific experience with their customer service. Honestly, I am going to close my account down and just keep my business to a few other sites, I can spend my money anywhere and I can give my selling fees to anyone, but not these people anymore. Please be mindful and cautious if doing any transactions on mercari.

First let me say that to get a hold of customer service is close to almost impossible! It's all FAQs that give you the run around. Best way is to go under "issues with buying something", then at that point, one can write to customer service under a headline that has nothing to do with your problem. But once they respond, it's like they are not even human. Repetitive responses and then they close the communication. You cant clarify any confusion and you are left with "WTF?" feeling. Its better to go through FB but even through there, I feel as if I am dealing with the dumbest customer service reps ever! Hey Mercari, save everyone precious time by at least not deleting certain transactions from our history. Just add "TRANSACTION CANCELLED". I need to know how much I am being refunded on an order that was damaged. No info on this transaction anymore and still no refund!

I've only been a buyer for over 2 years, I'm a teenage girl and of course have bought nothing but clothing & jewlery. If never been cheated out of my money, I've never had a transaction take too long nothing. I've had a great experience since I've started. Ive boughten from my homecoming dress to a pair of Victoria secret socks. I've boughten over $200 of goods and have only had nothing but a GREAT experience with the app & will continue to keep buying from there.

Mercari sucks when it comes to sellers! They have no protection against scamming if your item is lost in transit they will cancel your transaction and you will lose your product and money, do not I repeat DO NOT sell on mercari app!

We ask sellers to reach out to USPS for more information regarding the package, or to file a claim. I have been selling on mercari for a year now I have over 200 reviews and have a 5 star rating sold a jacket to a new buyer fully describing and close up picture of flaws on jacket received mail saying was returning item because it "was damaged" I wrote asking for a description of the damage received their generic email saying they would get back to me I was told that the issue has been resolved and they are returning the money to the buyer. Problem solved! The person probably tried it did not like it damaged it and merc just takes their side I think this is grossly unfair no protection I am switching to posh mark you pay more but are valued more than this site I was so mad but I guess with the reviews on here I am not alone. Stay away

I bought a lighted vanity mirror off of Mercari, a buy sell trade app. Well I thought I did anyway. I paid with my debit card, and including shipping it was a little over $100. Well I have patiently waited for over a month and still no package. I've tried messaging the seller repeatedly with no reply. Then I went to the "contact us" section of the app. (Which is total bull$#*! btw) There is no customer service number, no live chat, no nothing! There is just a box for u to type our your issue and hope someone gets back to u... which they have not. It's just ridiculous. I feel like they helped that woman rob me of $100. I would never recommend this app to anyone!

Beware! Plenty of fake sellers. They can cancel your orders at anytime for no reason and your refund will take weeks.

When Mercari started it was a money maker for me and if you didn't purchase something right when you seen it then you would miss out. Now everyone wants your goods for free and listings will sit around forever. Mercari is always sending messages to sellers trying to repremand them like they are their children. All because some buyer you wouldn't give your product to for $5 is ticked off and reports your listing for no reason at all. I seen it coming when Mercari was trying so hard to become #1 in the app store so they were advertising everywhere. This brought in a bunch of teenagers who drove the prices down tremendously. It is such a gamble selling and buying on there now. Unless you buy from a seller who has been around for awhile with plenty of great reviews and sometimes that isn't even a sure bet these days. This doesn't help the seller though. As new pe2iple go on Mercari just to scam a seller out of their merchandise because they have heard how easy it is to do so. If you cancel a sale because the buyer has no reviews and you don't want to take the chance of getting scammed then Mercari will send you a warning about cancelling orders. It is just too big of a gamble to shop and buy on Mercari anymore which is too bad because it was such a wonderful thing.

I sold an item on friday, shipped it out monday, and it was received and five star rated on wednesday. It is now the following wednesday (7days after rating) and I am still waiting for my money! If you can avoid this site please do so, they are the worst. Try Depop.

I just tried to purchase a watch. They first charge me $1.67 to verify my account? I have never seen this before, but I was okay with it. After verification, I went ahead to purchase the watch. They completed my order and deducted the money from my account. I thought I was all set. A few minutes later I received this email "This transaction was cancelled because we were unable to verify that the item was still available. We've issued you a refund in the original form of payment. In the interest of keeping the Mercari marketplace secure, it is our policy to cancel transactions and suspend accounts that show signs of unusual payment activity. Therefore, we have decided to revoke your user privileges and remove you from our marketplace." Now, I was just trying to buy a watch. First they say everything is ok and then they cancel the transaction, refund the money for the watch and deactivate my account? Why? They didn't even refund $1.67, verification charges. I would not advertise anybody to buy anything from this website.

I started sell some stuff on Mercari recently and within a month I have decided to quit selling there. I had some Louis Vuitton items and had some users giving me unbelievably low offers so I had to ignore or reject them. My items are perfectly authentic, with receipt or certificate of authentication. However, after I rejected several sellers my items kept getting deleted. I asked the CS why, and only answer I got so far is "multiple users have flagged your listings as counterfeit. Please refrain from selling counterfeit items", and I cannot even relist the items. What more I can do when the items have receipt or been authenticated?!? And they say that if items that have been "reported" as fake sells, they will keep the money not giving it to me... What a scam! I am guessing that some people might have flagged my items as a retaliatory action, but Mercari don't even bother investigating the "counterfeit" claims and automatically accept their claims. Of course, that way they can make more money by stealing from the victims (in this case the sellers)! I am no longer selling on Mercari, even thougn their low commission was what attracted me at first. Higher commission is worth paying for the safety. I would rate zero stars if I could.
And after reading all the other review by sellers... Now I think it was a blessing in disguise that my items were flagged before being sold! The nasty buyers could just go ahead and purchase, then claiming that they are "fake", receiving all their money back and keeping the item. I am not selling any item on this app until they implement more seller protections and control scammers. Like other company that has item shipped for their authentication center first or sellers can first send proof of authenticity (photos, receipts, authenticators' opinions, etc.) to Mercari first then list the item guaranteed by Mercari to be authentic (this way any dishonest buyers that claims items to be fake can be flagged for future reference).

The warning includes a statement describing how we will hold funds for 14 days in the event that your buyer requests a return. We do not hold the funds for our gain, but rather to protect the buyer in the case the item is confirmed as counterfeit. As selling counterfeit items is illegal, Mercari takes precautions to ensure a safe an friendly environment. If there was an option to give this company zero stars I would. Horrible customer service. Tried to buy a sweater. Error code pops up, can't purchase. Talk to customer service literally 8x throughout this fiasco as not counting email. Tried using a different credit card. Each time i spoke with customer service they said the problem has been fixed and it never was. Customer service is useless. Get email accusing me of fraud due to multiple times trying to purchase item with no success. Then after wasting all this time I receive another email saying my account has been removed... somehow I committed "fraud" and endangered their community without even getting past the make offer page. Please don't waste your time like I wasted mine. Stick with poshmark or ebay. Mercari is a joke

Please do not put your items for sale, do not project sellers only to buyers and hold your money for a long time. They are not reliable if the buyer decides to return the item mercari only reimburses them the money that takes away from you and never returns your package in a few words the buyer keeps your merchandise without paying it and mercari does not investigate and does not bother to have your package returned to you they are a scam

Where do I start. Out of three purchases. I have bought I have reicived on in tact the other broken and the other hasn't shown up it's been three weeks. This site is out of a horror film. I have had no response on the unshipped item. The broken item visually states an electronic error and was photographed together with the return request, and what do they do? Ask me for more photos of a non working electronic item. Come on... how are you to provide more photos of a non functioning heater than the stated error that means there is an electrical failure. On top of that the seller had already acknowledged and verbally accepted the return request! Mercari is a joke and is misleading in their procedures. I am taking a look at this and digging in to how many others they have ripped of as a company please share if Mercari has mislead or has denied a rightful claim just to keep the profits.

There are some genuine things I like about this app but it uses a terrible bait and switch method of offering coupons to get you to buy. "Have a friend create an account, get $__"
Nope. Never received the promised coupon. "Here's $_____ off your next purchase". Nope, not in my account. I contacted customer service and their response was that "the coupon expired", even though it was offered the second I completed my purchase. Another time I had an issue with a seller mislabeling the size and brand of an item I purchased and their customer service was again horrible. The app claims to protect or reimburse buyers but they refused to give me a refund, only credits. If Poshmark's shipping fee wasn't so outrageous, I'd never use this app again. Poshmark, Amazon, and Ebay all do such a better job of taking care of their customers.
