70% of the so called women on there are either from Africa or web cam whores. And then if you forgot to cancel you have to send them an actual letter on why you want a refund! Seriously who ever runs the site are total morons and should be shot and the site should be taken down! Biggest piece of $#*! site out there!
I joined Mate1.com in 2009 and met my hubby through the site. What more can I say. We have been married now for 2 years and happily as well. No every experience is the same and I can only speak from mine. So don't knock it till you try it.
Just sit and look at the number of "women" who are "from" Providence, UT, Allen, TX or Tempe, AZ and those should be the three largest cities on the planet - occupied solely by females!
I haven't logged onto this site in over a year & all of a sudden I get a text from two different people saying they got my number from this site. The only time I've been on this site is when I signed up & I haven't been back since because it looks so boring. I haven't talked to anyone on here but somehow someone got my number? I don't remember putting my personal cell number on this site & even if I did, it shouldn't have been given out! The guy who texted me posed as a girl looking for a friend, but then told me he was a guy, sending me sexual texts. SCAM CENTRAL. STAY AWAY
Mate1 could be all junk I agree but cannot say for certain since I never upgraded my membership because I felt something was amiss. After reading the reviews by various others here I am happy for not having fallen prey to this online fraud but that is not the reason for penning down my thoughts. Basically I understand that the internet is full of African scammers trying to make a quick buck from naive unsuspecting guys who are dreaming for a genuine hookup & in their excitement never really take the trouble to verify the credentials of the site or its members. What I understood after scanning through many profile pages across dating sites is that some fake profiles could look incredibly genuine & the person on the other side has no chance in hell to really authenticate the person's identity. So the best way according to me is to request all potential hookups to interact live through skype wherein the chances of cheating or impersonation is considerably lowered since it's a live video conversation so if the person turns up he/she is most probably genuine, if not we all know the truth. Hope my suggestion could help many lonesome hearts like me to meet somebody truly nice. Take care. Cheers. Swayambhu
This needs a negative 2 stars. When someone wrote that the profiles were full of fake women scammers from Africa I had the same thing happen to me except with a guy on the fake profile side. He confessed his undying love to me over a 3 week span. Never meeting because he was on "business" trips... then asked me to wire $7,300.00 to him
He had a great story. Very believable. And had I been one who "needed" that attention I could see falling for that trap.
DO NOT SEND MONEY... EVER LADIES. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Even if u don't want to believe it. TURN HIM DOWN! I ran across this guy again under another profile name. SAME SITE..."reliable_dad" was one and "myohmy*******" was the second. And he went by Marcus Alfrado Davidson.
But the name doesn't matter... DONT SEND MONEY. EVER!
Its complete trash. Circa 2010 to August 2014. Still just a bunch of euroskank running up our CC# to act like they are right down the road. I live in a super small town. Trust me I would know if there were 15 hotties that lived here. Try 2 and they are both married and cheating on their husbands with the other husband abd we all know except them.
Don't use Mate1, I bought a 6 month membership because my gay female cousin told my it was a good site. Once I join I found out that all the woman that contacted and I contacted were trying to get me to buy a cam session. This site is a scam stay away from it do not use this site. I repeat "DO NOT USE THIS SITE"
I used this site a few years ago and had great luck. I didn't meet the "one' but I definitely met some really cool women and had a lot of fun. Being single again and with my past experience with Mate1 I decided to rejoin. Boy what a mistake. This site is FULL I mean FULL of scammers pretending to be women. It literally will freeze my browser with the amount of chat invitations I get after logging in for 5 minutes. I would like to think it is because I am a good looking guy but after reading the broken English profiles and all the random websites they want you to go to you realize this site is a total waste of time. I can't believe I paid for a 6 month subscription!
After the free trial on MATE1.COM, I decided it was worth enroling just for a month but they took my payment and put me on MATCH.COM where the members/format was completely different so wasted £20.99p! Tried & failed to get my money back. The other 'free' sites for gay women were no better... I was 'matched up' with women from canada, africa, USA & many 'bots' so be careful!
Mate1 used to be good (circa 2007), I met many friends there including my BF.
It was never for serious relationship type guys, but the people use to be genuine and really good people (albeit a bit naughty).
However lately (since 2013 - or earlier according to my friend), when I visited again it was just scammers. Male in my case and seem to be from overseas pretending to be American - ohh they so bad that they sometime do not even knowtheir city or the uni that they said they graduated from.
Not worth a browsing anymore.
Scammers! Most of the people contacting you are bots. I paid the $1.99 for the trial, and cut it out after 3 days. They charged another $50 for I don't know how long, because I'm getting Visa to charge it back.
I got 2,000 interested women and not one thing has materialized except they ask you to send them money. Since this isn't my first rodeo I didn't do it, but they sure are convincing.
The site is good but the admin of site made it selfish, you cant include your email address in a note to another member. Then why are people on it, its easily blocked and photos dont get verified easily.
Mate1 is packed full of fake female profiles by scammers in africa. If Mate1 has ANY redeeming value, it's that you will see so many fake female profiles that you will learn to recognize the fake ones right away. 9 out of 10 "a new match for you!' emails from Mate1, and those messages in your Inbox, will be fake profiles by scammers. Thanks to Mate1 I can usually recognize the fake ones simply by the nicknames on the profiles. And I've learned the names of several American internet porn models because the scammers so often attach those porn stars' pics to their fake profiles. I've even seen profiles on Mate1 with pics of Sofia Vergara and Brittany Spears. Don't waste your time on Mate1. If you do, don't give them a penny of your money.
They charged me for a service I never signed up for. I emailed them 5 times and never got a response from them at all. It's all auto replies they should be investigated for fraud big time
I got spammed by mate1.com. I don't know who would sign up for this junk.
Like many so called dating sites, this is just another scam where they are looking only for money. I joined for free in July and almost immediately received notification of the many women who were interested in me based on my profile. Of course in order to contact them or receive their messages, I would have to upgrade which of course costs money. The comedy of it all is that since I joined, 172 women have sent me emails, but only one individual has viewed my profile. In addition, most of them do not even come close to what I'm looking for (simple things like age and distance from where I live). Fortunately, I never upgraded or spent any money (having been burned on other sites), but get a chuckle on the almost daily notifications of who's interested in me. Stay away from this site like the plague.
Nothing but scammers and very unfriendly women there if they are there, its a waste of time for guys, but at least the scammers will chat with me, I would get these messages in my email that this lady message me and I would message her back and none of them reply to me, I got to looking and some of those ladies have not been online for a very long time, so how did they send me a email... and the real ladies are stuck up I guess like most dating websites...
There are a lot of people overseas just waiting for you, to help them $#*! up your life. Stay away from both sites. All I met were female scammers from overseas, who say they live in the US, but in actuality don't.
