Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

I have been a paying on again, off again Match member for a number of years. I signed up at a discounted rate for six months, thought that I had fulfilled all terms under the guarantee, naturally thought that I would get another six months free, had received another six months free in the past, as I remember, not having to at all ask for it, but failed to ask. The next thing I knew I received a bill for another six month period under an automatic renewal choice that I had not to my knowledge made. You better know that you MUST now choose to decline automatic renewal (more in the fine print and believe you must decline within a certain period of time, not sure) OR you will be automatically billed. So, I called to complain, multiple times. I reversed the charge on my credit card and am now locked out of Match. Match isn't even answering my latest e-mail. A Match representative told me that by not asking for another six months free, Match assumes you have met someone. Well, that makes no sense. If in failing to get another six months, Match assumed I had met someone, then why did Match bill me for another regular six month period? This is one money conscious, business only organization, in my opinion! I am more than disappointed!
Very convenient for them to make it unclear that your policy will automatically renew while maintaining a "no-refund" policy. Bad site with terrible options. You're much better off sticking with the *free* dating apps. Would never recommend to anyone.
their customer support didn't send me the password reset link till 10 days after when my membership expired. and said they couldn't refund me the prorated membership fee. I'd like to ally people with similar experiences to sue them.
I signed my mother up, as she has difficulty meeting men her age (60-65) in her rural area. This site is a hunting ground for scammers. She became involved in 3... count them... 3 men in a matter of 3 months. Each and every one was a scammer who eventually (some sooner than others) made the "request" of financial assistance or goods. All 3 had phone numbers that were suspect. All 3 declared their love within a week or two of chatting online. The first one stuck around the longest. My mother did not lose any money, thanks to my supervision, but she did text pics. I'm sure they will be used to impersonate a fake profile to scam others.
As if this wasn't enough, the credit card I used was hacked and a whole bunch of charges were made for Match and two other dating sites. One site made 9 $50 charges in one week! There is only one reason I can think of... paying for a pile of memberships... to scam people. Surprise, surprise.
These sites are infested with the worst the human race has to offer... people who are trying to take advantage (of the elderly, in particular). If there is anyone "real" you'd never find them. Back when I used dating sites, the worse you had to worry about was people misrepresenting themselves (mostly age and physical appearance) to try to get their foot in the door. Now it's a den of thieves.
Unethical, fake profiles contact you, no refund policy
Deliberately try to catch you out with auto renewal!
Nothing good to say!
Don't get burnt look at trustpilot reviews!
Match.com has a really bad refund policy. I suggest you don't try to get a refund after an automatic undesired renewal because you won't get it.
I have called other companies and it is logical that if the service is not being used a fair refund should be given to the customer.
The charge was $60 and only $7.98 was suggested as a refund when I emailed right after the charge took effect.
One thing this company is not taking on account is the network of new customers that will be lost due to my recommendation.
I would not recommend match.com to anyone.
Customer representatives were mean and not helpful at all.
I asked to speak with a manager and the rejected the petition.
I am using it since 2017 and all I can say is that the site is filled with posers and the subscription I am paying for wasn't worth it. My advice to you guys: "do not find love because love will find you. So better to meet people face to face and date them in the traditional way". Have a great day everyone!
Match.com is awful! I've been in a happy relationship for over a year and a half, I originally signed up for a 3 month trial in April 2016, and have been charged without my knowledge for almost TWO YEARS! I canceled my subscription soon after my 3 month trial and OF COURSE they have no record of this.
Also, they don't send emails to let you know you're on auto-renewal! So customers have no way of knowing they're still being charged! It's absolutely ridiculous to not send an email every time a charge is run.
After realizing all of this, the only thing they could offer me was a $29 refund for the current subscription period I'm on.
Expect to lose money. I've spend over $600 on this stupid site that I haven't used for years.
I signed up for 6 month and tried to logged in when I came back from work but it won't let me in and they keep deducting morning from my account I called them for a refund but it's still the same... match.com is a scam!
I accidentally clicked a button for the add-on "Match Phone". To be honest I don't even remember clicking that button. I contacted customer service to for a refund and to remove this service I never used or wanted. They would not refund me and the kept stating that "it is policy to not issue refunds". I went back and forth with them over this. Since they are a technology company there are no costs associated with whether or not I used the service. Ultimately Match lost a customer Match lost a customer paying $70-something a quarter for $6.62. Do yourself a favor and find a date through a company that actually cares about their customers.
It will not let me in my password does not work but they took my money scam. Wow not even 6 hours and the site sucks.
Site will not let you edit profile.
Even when you choose only a one-month subscription, you are automatically signed up for autorenewal. I cancelled this and yet was still charged again. When I reached out to customer service I was told there are no refunds and I'm SOL. There are so many free dating sites that are better and they won't rip you off.
Worst customer service ever! They hang up on you. They don't give you your money back! Its a scam! They will take your money and run. Don't do it!
That about says it all.....and the rest are "currently seperated". Worst customer service ever. Worst experience ever....after 2 months and toms of fakers, scammers and hackers. All was left is "currently seperated" men who are not ready for a relationship becuase they are still tied up in the past.
I phoned customer service for a refund and was told that they cannot tdo that, I asked to be transferred to a manager/supervisor and toild that was not possible and then the customer rep rudely told me she was hanging up because she had answered my questiosn....whuch ws not the case.
I remeber being on this site 10 years age and so many of the men are still on here...so it seems they are not interested in a relationship. Women stop giving it out for FREE!!! Have some respect for yoru selves and clear boundaries.
The worst... just takes money. Sca bad... worst... customer service... took my daughter's money even that she. Canelled same day sign up
To begin with, Match is a SCAM! They block your account access 2 days B4 free trial ends, so you cannot log in to cancel b4 THEY CHARGE your credit card. Look out for a class action lawsuit over this!
Then their entire user interface is hideous, super slow and infuriating!
Their messaging system is awful. It does not allow searching your mail, so if you are looking for a specific email with a specific content or keyword, you have to scroll down and open each one of your dozens or hundreds of emails to find it! Then, if you answer to one email and you go back to your inbox, their system takes you back to the top of your inbox, so you have to scroll down and keep clicking "next page" a dozen times to get to the last email you viewed.
Custom searches constantly crash and you have to start all over again. It takes thousands of clicks and hours of work to do what other sites do in 20 seconds. I cannot believe there are millions of idiots paying for this trash. I bet most of them have been blocked out of their accounts, like I was, and Match keeps using their profiles to build false expectations in both potential new users and advertisers.
I joined match to find a great guy. I signed up for 1 month with no renewal. During that time I met an amazing guy so i no longer needed match. Expecting my membership not to renew i see on my bank account that they charged me $42. I contacted them and they said they are not able to give me a refund. I am now paying for another month when Im not even using it. Worst site! Will not refer anyone.
This is another American dating scam. The website created just beleive is stealing heard earned money of its users. They do hell lot of ads to get traffic. Once u user sign-up they just bill them illegally till the time he don't complains.
Absolute thief. Very bad user interface. Chance of getting match is next to non...
A really good sign up process, and a good section of people on this dating site. You don't get too many muppets on it.
I canceled my subscription but they somehow re-activated it and charged me for 3 months - they make it almost impossible to cancel, you have to click on a link and then it asks for your password - then it doesn't let you in.
I got contacted by many obviously fake profiles
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
