Update: Like magic, 10 minutes after I left this review and contacted Lyft legal, I got a call from the driver. So I changed this from one star to three stars out of fairness.

My son left his Airpods case in a Lyft in NYC. We immediately contacted Lyft customer service who confirmed that the driver found the Airpods case in the backseat where my son was sitting. However, the driver never responded to my attempt to coordinate recovery even though I was willing to pay the required $15 service charge. I then contacted Lyft customer service and they basically said too bad. Not their problem. Apparently, Lyft is ok hiring thieves as drivers. Beware.

Painful Lyft
September 13, 2022

If you're looking for pain and suffering, choose Lyft. One of the very worst rides in the US. I hope they'll go out of business very soon.

Safety concerns
September 9, 2022

While I have had some good drivers with Lyft, I am very disturbed that Lyft literally follows CDC. As an immunocompromised rider, I of course wear a mask and lower my window int he back seat. Now Lyft says drivers do not need to wear masks or ventilate. Simply carrying a mask for someone who is immunocompromised and requests the driver to please wear it and provide some ventilation, provides the rider with some safety. People are still getting sick and dying. Giving a rider a choice to feel safe seems very basic.

I traveled to the airport. When I landed I saw an $80 damage fee charge. Turned out there was another one for $70. $150 in damages. I contacted support. It took an hour for them to give any reason. They finally provided a photo accusing me of peeing in the seat. It was a morning flight with my wife. I'm a 36 year old sober male traveling. The damage fee came 30 minutes after my drop-off. There are tons of people waiting for cash rides at the airport. The driver blatantly took someone off the books, and dumped the charge on me. Support kept giving generic responses and toying with me saying they did a thorough investigation. They ignored any of the common sense I provided. A longstanding customer vs a driver who's clearly blowing off all Lyft rules. Now I need to file a claim through my credit card company. Wonderful.

On 08/25/22 I was riding Lyft I Baytown Texas it was about 3.3 miles from my location to the hotel and I had $50 dollars gift card and I put that on my Lyft account then I was trying to request Lyft ride it showed me the price was $48.99 I was shocked I put only $50 and I just imagined that there some kinds of fraud or or there are people waiting to wipe out your money or might be the bank works with hackers or the driver might compromised to charge me other way so when I saw the price that much for 3.3 mile is unusual so before I confirm request I push back button and logged off my account and log in again and requested ride it was $11.99 then I confirmed to to get ride and on their app the driver was 5 minutes away but I have no idea what was she is doing on the same place on her location she was rounding where she was the same place still it was 5 minutes but the driver was moving on the same distance. After waiting 20 minute driver arrived and picked me up so after I got hotel I feel to check my account 13.79 is gone with out my interest okay I new that from the beginning something is wrong I called the phone# from the back of the card usually they about 6 or 7 option to choose even to talk to customer service but all of them has locked there was only three option 1/ you check your balance 2/ to hear frequently asked questions 3/ if your card lost that's all. So what I did is just choose #1 to see my balance I was shocked about my balance it was only $16.16 that's all I got.
Ok here is the list 3.3 miles ride fare $11.99 +$5 tip
$19.54 unknown charge $13.79 unknown charge look when you add all these $50.32 that was very funny it is over than my gift card so I just searched another phone# to contact I got people to talk 3 people they transfer me to Simone else however few seconds later the phone hanged up and I called again one guy told me he doesn't know about it and he said I have to call meta bank I called there no one pick up just computer it says I have to call by the phone number at the back of cad that was very funny no help no solution so I get back to my account to check again the first time when I checked it was $16.16 when I check the 2nd time it was $19.22 I was laughed I think when they check how much they took they saw it that was over the gift card amount then they turned $3.06 to my balance then now my balance is $19.22. People imagine how money citizens are victims and deferred where there is no solution so who is going to stop this fraud in this country? I think ther and other parties and the bank has compromised to robbed our money the amazing thing when I check Lyft account there only $16.99 which is I paid for ride fare so who took my money $30.27? I need justice really

I tried to go to the Smithsonian in DC and the driver took me into the middle of a neighborhood and dropped me off, saying that the Smithsonian was behind a house.

There was no Smithsonian behind the house or anywhere near that neighborhood. I was 5 miles away and on limited time. I asked Lyft for a refund and they said that they did an "internal investigation" and decided that I didn't deserve a refund. I'm furious. They never tried to call me during their investigation to get my side of the story. I feel ripped off.

From my home near Seattle, I reserved a Lyft ride online for Indiana granddaughter from Evansville to Indianapolis airport. I specified pickup time of 2:30 p.m., plenty for the ride, with a little margin. Lyft software interpreted this local Indiana pick up time as Seattle time (my location, not the ride location) and changed the time to 4:30 p.m. Thus my granddaughter missed the flight and spent the night in a chair in the Indianapolis airport. WHY NOT ALLOW ME TO SPECIFY LOCAL TIME OR TO SPECIFY CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, OR TO CHOOSE FROM A LIST OF TIME ZONES? Incompetence. FIX YOUR SOFTWARE, LYFT.

Tricky Business Model
August 16, 2022

I tried out Lyft for my past week trip from Los Angeles to Detroit MI, and felt pretty regret that I should've done some research before riding with Lyft.
The Drivers were quite friendly and nice, but Lyft's tricky promotion emails, Lyft app cunning setup, as well as the customer service, all those disturbing experiences convinced me why Lyft could never make it as big as Uber.

*I took my first ride with Lyft from Detroit airport on 8/8, while Lyft sent me a promotion email on 8/9 stating "75% off 1st ride up to US$12.00/ride"(attached).
*I took another ride with Lyft to Detroit airport on 8/12, while remembering Lyft sent me another promotion email on 8/11 stating "75% off your next 1 ride"(attached)

Seeing my both charges(attached) showing the full amount, I contacted the customer service and was told the coupons don't apply because my 1st ride coupon was started on 8/9 while I took my first ride on 8/8. My mind got twisted so hard: either Lyft system didn't detect my first ride on 8/8 and sent out the promotion email on 8/9 by mistake, or the offer was not legit since Lyft knew I wasn't able to use the offer because I took my first ride a day before. I wish I am wrong, but how the manager handled my escalation made me believe it's the later logic that Lyft is trying to trick the consumer to ride with the discount but in reality it's a different story - it's a tedious process to reach to the customer service, not even mentioning to talk to someone to address the real issue

I'm not going to waste my time asking why the second coupon not applied, since Lyft does not care not only the riders, but the drivers at all - reading through the reviews. Therefore, just be careful what you are told via Lyft emails doesn't mean what you will be offered as is. At the end of the day, Life would be better staying away from insincere people and business, God Bless!

Side with drivers when drivers are dishonest
August 16, 2022

Lyft drivers changed my address to go nextdoor from where i was, then canceled it, and when i had to redo it it was 2xs the amount they charged me $42 total to go 1.5 miles away, literally 2min drive. Then took me to wrong place and charged me for the mistake. Bottom line its impossible to het in touch with anyone and they dont bother even reviewing charges. No phone number email takes forever amd they never help! LYFT is cheaper than Uber but i would rather pay a few $$ more then not be able to have chsrges corrected if wrong... uber def easier to deal with if mistakes happen... WILL NEVER USE LYFT AGAIN!

Thieves
August 13, 2022

So I decided since I had free time in the evenings I would drive to make a little money. Ha! This piece of Sh** company refused to pay me my $49.64 I earned for giving rides that day. Contacted customer service and their reply is let's wait too see if you get paid next week? What kind of answer is that? I had to put gas in my car after driving expecting to get paid but no they are still refusing! The customer service rep was named SHANE. This company is a complete sham! If you have to ride share make sure it's not with Lyft!

There is no number for you to call to speak to customer service about fraudulent charges on your account. You simply write an "email" and they may or may not get back to you.

I have very bad experience with lyft, I drove more than a year with lyft and I had excellent ratings, but they closed my account without any reason, they mentioned that someone had complain against you, they didn't ask me anything during investigation that someone who complained is true or false, when they closed my account I sent them lots of emails, but there reply was not satisfactory and their behavior was like that I had killed someone. I went to their office, they also didn't help me to activate my account.
