They robbed me out of $70.00. And when I asked for a refund to a website I used once, the awful, incompetent computer representative signed off.
This website should shut down; they are thieves!
Like many others before me, I was charged $34 for no good reason. If the company is so transparent and upfront as they claim, why so many disgruntled customers?
I should have googled LIVECAREER* before doing anything with them; I would have never given them a chance to cheat me out of my money. I wan't the charges reversed!
Hi Ewa G.
Thanks for your comments.
We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature, and if you don’t cancel your subscription, we will bill you at the monthly rate of $34.95. We inform you of this feature on your payment confirmation page and again give you this information when we send you your payment confirmation to the e-mail address that you give us.
We give you multiple ways to cancel your subscription: By calling our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; by live chat, by e-mail at [email protected], or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.
Best regards,
LiveCareer
Yup they did the same thing to me. They get with you their 14 day trial for only $2.95. NO WHERE does it say that they will auto bill you for a monthly fee of $34.95 after the trial is over. And low and behold I see the charge show up on my credit card and now they are refusing to refund me, saying I agreed to their policies when I signed up they are truly STEALING!
Dear Logan,
Thank you for your comments.
We are puzzled at your statement that we do not let our subscribers know of our recurring billing feature. We clearly state on the payment confirmation page as well as the e-mail confirmation that we send to every subscriber, that your subscription has an auto-renewing feature if you do not cancel your subscription during the introductory period. It is not in small print; it is listed as one of the subscription options. We also provide you with the information on the many ways to cancel your subscription, if you wish to avoid your subscription renewing at the monthly rate.
I If you have more questions, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: [email protected]. We also list our contact information on our "Contact Us" and "About Us" Pages on our site.

I signed up to help my son work on his resume. I googled "free resume builder" came across this site and saw there was a minimal charge. So went for it. That was on 27th June 2013. JUST CHECKED MY BANK THIS MORNING 12TH JULY AND THEY JUST TOOK ANOTHER £24.00 OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS. THIS IS STEELING. ALSO THEY APARENTLY ARE GOING TO TAKE ANOTHER £24.00 IN AUGUST! MY BLOOD IS BOILING AT THESE SCAMMERS. ELLIE. UK.
Dear Eleanor,
Thanks you for your comments.
The subscription that you purchased has a recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time. It is clearly stated on your subscription sales page and the confirmation e-mail we sent you upon purchase.

This company is a scam. They have illegally withdrawn $34.95 out of my account. I am currently disputing this with my bank.
Dear Marcia,
Thank you for your comments
Marcia, regarding the $ 34.95 charge-- we make every effort to let our subscribers know of our auto- renewal feature. We have it in print when you subscribe and we even e-mail you those details when we send your payment confirmation. We also inform you of the many ways for you to unsubscribe your accounts – either by telephone, live chat with a LiveCareer representative, or by e-mail. If you do not want to use any of our customer service options that we’ve listed, we also have a cancellation feature right on our website.

Although the site itself is fairly helpful in creating a resume & or cover letter their business practices are at best unethical. First they reel you in with the "free resume builder", which is as close to a total lie as possible. You can build it for free but you can't print, download, or e-mail it unless you pay $2.95 which obviously isn't free & unless you pay it your resume is useless so you've done the work for nothing. Then they slide in the recurring monthly charge which is $34.95 unless you cancel. The recurring fee is clearly there to scam people as are all automatic renewals. Had they been up front about their fees & not had an automatic monthly renewal I probably would've used the site several times & recommended. However their shady business practices have driven me away for good. I would suggest no one use this site, but if you choose to beware they will get every cent out of you they can take until you force them to stop.
Dear J H,
Thank you for your comments.
We appreciate that you find our site helpful in creating a resume and cover letter, however our free account gives you the opportunity to try out creating a resume and cover letter resume before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume are only listed as a feature of the paid subscription and are not listed as a feature of the free account. We also take great care to inform our subscribers that the subscription is auto-renewing. The subscription that you paid for $2.95 has a recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time. Underneath the description of the subscription in bullet form, as well as in the confirmation email you receive once you subscribe. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings!
JH, we take pride in providing effective and valuable career, resume and cover letter assistance to hundreds of thousands of people. Because the job market can be tough these days, many of our customers use our site for more than just a month, realizing that a customized resume and cover letter for each position for which they are applying increases their odds that they will become employed.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: [email protected]

I was stunned to find out that I suddenly need to pay to download/print my resume - Horrendously dishonorable, to say the least. Why aren't people informed of that BEFORE they start and finish a resume? Or is it printed in the bottom of the webpage with a size 2 font?
Anyway, suck it livecareer.com! I managed to get the resume I spent hours working on without playing into your scam!
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Patrick. We strive to deliver A+ customer service and apologize if we haven’t met that standard. We’d like to help you address your concern so you can have a great experience with us, please contact us at https://www.livecareer.com/contact-us
My teenage daughter believed this was a one time charge of $2.99 to assist her with writing her first resume. I just called the company and was told they tried their best to let her understand this was a monthly subscription through email, yet there are no emails in her inbox. The company is unwilling to return the monthly fees.
This indeed is a scam.

The site shows up on Google as a free resume builder... only after you have spent quite a bit of time building your resume do you discover that you have to pay to have any kind of access to the resume you have made. The fee is minimal, however... it turns out to be a monthly subscription that you have only 2 weeks to cancel or they charge you $34.95! I missed the deadline by 2 days and was charged a pro-rated charge of $4.95 for 2 days! And they could confirm that I had not accessed the site in weeks. Stay far away from this money-making scam!
Dear Nicole,
Thanks you for your comments.
The subscription that you purchased has a recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time. It is clearly stated on your subscription sales page and the confirmation e-mail we sent you upon purchase

Nicole, despite the fact that you were aware your subscription had an auto-renewing feature and did not cancel your account in a timely manner, we extended a courtesy refund of $30. We wish you the best of outcomes in your job search.

I was looking for a website to build my resume for free. I googled " free resume maker"... the first website that came up was "livecareer.com" it DID say it was free on the google search, BUT at the end the ONLY way to actually download or print your resume you probably spent 30 minutes making is to pay their stupid fee... I didn't... I spent another 30 minutes copy and pasting what they helped me make... so HAHAAA livecareer you ended up not getting my money you liars... if your company wasn't trying to rip people off by auto billing you would probably get more business from repeat users by only billing. 99 cents per build. Instead you create mad customers after ever user builds a resume and then finds out they have NO option to get it free "AS ADVERTISED"! Your company is bad... and mean... THINK ABOUT IT... they need a resume to get a job because they HAVE NO MONEY A$$ holes...
Dear Dominic,
Thank you for your comments and we wish you the best of luck in your search for the perfect job.

I needed to write a resume and searched online for a form. I found this site and decided to pay the 7 day try-out. It was about 2 dollars. After that period ended, they send me an e-mail, saying that the 7 day period ended. But they didn't send me an e-mail, saying that they will freely take 35$ from my bank account! They are really unprofessional, so don't use them!
This is the letter, that they send me, after I said I will sue them!
Dear Gergana,
We appreciate your trying out the Resume Builder.
Since you no longer wish to have access to your Resume Builder subscription, we have agreed to prorate your subscription. This amount is based on the number of days that have passed since your last payment of $34.95 We have also cancelled your subscription so that you will not be billed further. Please note that it may take 2-3 business days, depending on your bank, before you see this refund in your account or on your statement.

I was frequently online and I was struggling to find the job that would really match what I specialized in from college. I was growing hopeless about this of course during those times. The lucky thing is that I found out about this site called as Live Career. If you are on a predicament on what would be the best job for you, try checking out Live Career web pages that I have seen already.
It was voted as one of the most outstanding employment and professional services website as well as one of the top 100 employment website. LiveCareer.com continually delivers more favorable answers and assistance to jobseekers that are looking for the right career path.
There are many web based sites that would offer us help in finding the ideal jobs but then I would say that there is nothing that could match the capability of LiveCareer. You should check it out and benefit like the way that I did.
Matthew, we are glad to know that you have found the site helpful in finding what you are looking for in your chosen field. We realize that finding just the right job can be difficult in these challenging times.
We appreciate the good reviews and that you have found our service and assistance to be of value. We thank you Matthew and we wish you great career success!
What scam artists. I signed up for 14 day access for $2.95. They just charged me $34.95 because in the fine print your "membership" (WHICH I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR) renews after 14 days.
SCAM ARTISTS. DO NOT USE THEM!
Dear Diana,
Thank you for your comments.
Our subscription prices and policies are not in fine print, but rather are clearly stated in the details of the subscription underneath each price option, in bullet form as well as in the confirmation email you receive once you subscribe. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email, and self- cancellation in your Account Settings!

Be aware that they hide a monthy subscription fee in their Terms of use even if you only want to do a 1 time Resume for a couple of bucks. Then when you notice it on your Visa statement its a pain in the $#*! to try and get a refund and they will only refund the latest charge. Hopefully you catch it quickly. Writing the Resume on their site was dificult the info I entered (dates) kept changing. I had to save it as a pdf. Or word doc. (can't remember) and modify it on my computer becasue their software sucks.
Dear John,
Thank you for your comments.
John, we do not bury or “hide” the fact that your subscription is auto-renewing. It is in the bullet point list of the subscription page; it is in the bullet list on the payment confirmation page and it is clearly stated on the payment confirmation e-mail we send to you. We also offer a variety of ways to cancel your subscription: by e-mail to [email protected], by telephone (17 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year), or through live chat on our site. You can even self-cancel your subscription by going to the “My Account” section and cancelling from there. The refund that was provided to you was processed as a one-time courtesy credit.
We apologize for any inconvenience if you have encountered formatting issues, but we appreciate the feedback so we can continue to provide better services.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: [email protected]

I paid Live Career $20 to review my resume` and make suggestions; then decided to pay them $245 for an Executive Resume`... The final resume had over ten (10) errors consisting of: misspelled words, missing information; no research on my field of expertise so the overall description was totally incorrect; formatting was off in numerous places... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE TO ANYONE... A junior high school student would have done a better job... NOTE- THEIR SYSTEM MAKES YOU CHECK AT LEAST ONE STAR FOR THE RATING OR YOU CANNOT MOVE FORWARD... Not worth one star...
Dear Sharon,
Thank you for your comments.
We apologize for any inconvenience, if you were not satisfied with the outcome of the resume, but included in the cost of your service is one free revision. You’ll have a chance to review your completed resume and give us feedback. We’d be happy to revise the resume so that it better serves your needs.
Please give us a call immediately, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. The fee for this resume service is somewhat expensive, approximately $34.95/month. I have been subscribing to this site for a few months and created numerous resumes. They look professional and there are many options, however, they have several glitches in the software when creating the resume and it frequently freezes during "autosave" resulting in a loss of some of your data that you may have spent hours on. Called tech support and they said there was no way to retrieve the data. I would suggest finding a more reliable site.
Dear CW,
Thank you for your comments and for utilizing LiveCareer throughout your job search.
CW, if it would not be too much trouble we would appreciate you either e-mailing your account details to [email protected] or once again reaching out to customer support at 1-888-816-0576. We are anxious to resolve any issues you are having with our site. When you contact us, please mention that AnnaB asked you to re-contact us.
Thanks again, CW and we look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
LiveCareer
Well when Google searching for a quick way to make a "FREE" resume and then be able to mail it for "FREE" this site doesn't live up to it's promise of "FREE" service and allows you to make a resume for free but they don't seem to tell you that unless you are just wanting to make a resume for $#*!s and giggles and think it's a fun way to pass time, that you're resume can only sit on the site and look pretty. I proceeded to call customer service and complain on the fact that they had WASTED 2 hours of my life making a resume only to find out that the "FREE" resume builder wasn't free and that you actually would need to get a subscription of either $2.95 14-Day Full Access or $7.95 Per Month. I resisted the urge to blow up on the woman on the phone as she told me that even though they say that their services are free that their Terms and Conditions clearly state that it's only free to create not send or show your resume. I'd like to say a big $#@! You to the makers of this sight and I hope they know that because of them wasting 2 hours of my life I have no interest in applying to this job anymore.
Sincerly-
A $#@! MAD 17 year old

I have had a run in just like everybody else! I used it to update my resume in Feb and paid the $2.95 and cancelled after a few days. I received their cancellation confirmation and thought nothing after that thinking everything was taken care of. I noticed this morning that I was charged the $34.95 and when I called, I was originally going to have my money credited for the 4 months that I was charged. But then I was put on hold and the representative said that I had re-activated my acct in April, which is total B. S. I said that I never received an email stating that I re-activated my account and she told me that she had just cancelled my service and will be deactivated in July. So needless to say, Livecareer.com is useless and I had just taken a hit of $140 that I will never get back.
Dear Jennifer,
Thanks for your comments. We welcome all feedback from our customers.
Jennifer, our system does not allow for an account to be re-opened without the subscriber re-activating the account. We have a database to check all the customers activities and what transpired on the account, it also included the date and time.

I used this site to help me out getting a resume put together and was willing to pay the fee, but there's have a recurring charge that steal $34.95 a month from you. I got hit twice within one billing cycle on my CC so they stole $70 before I got my first CC statement. Give me my money back. Yeah right, this is your hook, you've got whatever recurring charge info that is available buried in a non-obvious location. After putting in a search for "live career review" I see you've ripped off a lot of people in this manner. Eat $#*! and go $#*! yourselves. Give me my money.
Dear Mark,
Thank you for your comments.
The subscription that you purchased has a recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time. We have not buried it in some “non-obvious” location. It is clearly on the subscription page, the confirmation AND the confirmation e-mail we send you.
We take great care in letting our customers know what they are subscribing to, as well as providing the many ways in which they can cancel. You can cancel by calling our customer service center (which is open 18 hours a day, 7 days a week), or by live chat or by e-mail to [email protected]. There is even a self-cancellation feature under “My Account” on our website.
If you would like to discuss your issue with a live customer service representative, we invite you to call 1-888-816-0576.
Mark, in closing, we are not in the business of “ripping people off.” We have assisted hundreds of thousands of people in creating resumes and cover letters which have gotten the positive attention of recruiters, and job decision makers. We extend our best wishes to you for a successful job search.
Best Regards,
Livecareer
What a joke. I spent a good amount of time building a resume, in good faith, since it said FREE resume builder, then when I got to the end I have to pay? I would not even mind this, but I work in the IT business and think it is dishonest to do this. I WILL NOT give any money to a company that is not up front about wanting money in the first place. How can you trust them to cancel your account after the trial period? I will give them that, they do say you will be billed if you do not cancel your account after the trial period. And did anyone besides me notice that only one person, AnnaB responds to all the complaints? SO disgusted with all of these so called companies that get by with stuff like this from people that are trying to make a living. I have to wonder, are all the good reviews from their own employees?
Dear Patti,
Thank you for your comments. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. If you like what you see, we ask you to pay for a trial subscription. The ability to print, email, or download your resume are listed as a feature of the paid subscription and are not listed as a feature of the free trial. We also make every effort to let our customers know that our subscription service is auto-renewing and that if you don’t cancel before the end of your trial, we assume you want to continue using our service on a monthly basis. We offer many ways to cancel your subscription -- e-mail, live chat, or by phone. You can even go to our website and cancel your subscription from there.
With regard to just one person responding to complaints: Patti, we do have more than one person answering our customers’ e-mail (whether it be negative or positive, but found it convenient to create one profile. That is why you see “AnnaB” answering the posting on this website. And no, our good reviews are NOT from us. We have hundreds of thousands of grateful and satisfied customers who have found their perfect job because we were able to give them the necessary tools to make their resumes and cover letters stand out from the crowd.
If you have any questions, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: [email protected]

Answer: This is what the site advertised: For 14 day access, $14.95, and for a year $39.80. However, signing up for ANY service aloows the site to store your payment information for further billing, and getting in touch with them, much less obtaining help is nigh impossible. After two weeks they will pull $39.80 MONTHLY from your payment method (please see my review and others on Google and yelp for further verification of this).
Answer: Do not use this site!
Answer: I had to cancel my Debit Card account with Bank of America, because the Bank refused to block LiveCareer from my account. I wonder if they are in cahoots or what? I believe a class action suit may be required so we can get our funds back.
Answer: Call your bank and change your card number Call them and let them know you have contacted your bank and will contact the better business bureau of you don't get a full refund. Then contact the better bBB and file a formal complaint. You will have a refund within a week. That's how I got my money back
Answer: Dont waste your time trying to contact them. I went to my bank and had all future billing refused AND I went to the State Attorney General and reported them.
Answer: Hello, Sarah - Thank you for getting in touch with us, our subscriptions are auto-renewing, we have a continuous billing feature that charges your account after the 14-day period and every month for the regular price afterward. However, if you are only interested in the 14-trial and wish to avoid any recurring charges simply cancel your subscription before beforehand. We hope that this helps clear things up for you, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Best regards, LiveCareer US
