Okay, so as annoying as getting charged for no reason was, i spoke to a representative again and got a refund for about a dollar less thank i payed which is fine with me. I still don't think i should have been charged in the first place since i cancelled my account. I have learned a valuable lesson about the semantics of fine print.
BEWARE of auto billing for $34.95 month that starts as soon as you sign up for $1.95 14-day trial. Wish I had seen all the complaints before signing up, cost me $80.00+ USD for a 1 page 1 time resume. Complete RIPOFF!

Thanks for your comments.
We take great care in letting our customers know what they are subscribing to. We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel anytime. Janet, we also make cancelling really easy as we give 4 ways to cancel a subscription if service is no longer be needed: By calling our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; by live chat, by e-mail at [email protected], or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.
Please contact us as soon as possible so that we may resolve this issue.

SCAM! I am very good about reading the fine print or so I thought and looked at credit card and had 4 months of charges for $34.95. I called them and they then did cancel it, but would not give me back the money from the charges because i didn't' not cancel it! If it says so much for 14 days then that is all you should be charged! Bunch of CRAP!

Scam! Stay away. I called this company after checkingmy bank account. I had been billed a total of 8 times in the space of 20 days. They hide all charges in their site which at first says its free to use. They use your bank details and automatically charge you £39 dollars a month wether you ask for it or not. I phond them up and they agreed to cancel my account but would not reverse charges from a service they implemented without my consent. Absolute joke
STAY AWAY

They act like it is so easy to cancel you'd be a fool if you ended up with charges. When actually that's how they make all their money. If you call the 800 number like I did you will never get farther then the automated voice message system they just hang up on you and if you live chat with somebody they're only going to draw it out they're going to charge you at least two months no matter what so do yourself a favor like I did call your bank have them change your account number and they can't take any money.
Dear Scott,
Thanks for your comments.
Scott, we did experience some temporary technical issues with our Customer Service number, which were speedily resolved. We apologize if you were one of our subscribers who experienced difficulty during this time.

I wrote about this scam about a year ago. I was shocked when I went back and found so many more have been scammed with the same story. In the end, I gave up on getting my money back. The company still owed me approximately $700. I also ended up cancelling my credit card. Every review has someone who may be named Anna writing the same answer. I acted on her very courteous response and still didn't get my money back. They are based out of a condo in India, not San Francisco. It seems to be less expensive to hire Anna (?) then what the company gains. I read the fine print and called the company within a week of using the site and cancelled my subscription. Somehow, that phone call was not kept as a record. I went to what is supposedly their office in San Francisco, nobody there. Don't understand why they are allowed to continue operating in America. Tried reporting them to BBB but the company isn't registered here. There seems to be no recourse and they know it. Good luck! Hope you get some of your money returned.
Dear Wendy,
Thanks for your comments.
We take pride in providing effective and valuable career, resume and cover letter assistance to hundreds of thousands of people. And yes, we do have a business office in San Francisco, CA.
We do not know exactly how you have cancelled the service, because we provide several ways: By phone, live chat, email and through “Account Settings “online. If the account has been cancelled successfully, a cancellation confirmation email is being sent automatically to the email address used to create the account. Cancelling a service successfully prevents you from incurring a monthly charge. The refund that was processed was given as a courtesy credit.

I paid for the 14 day trial, although the resume builder templates and guides are great, I had some problems with downloading and printing the resume. As a result I chose to cancel my subscription within two days. I cancelled using their site. Before I cancelled i was given the message to review my resume again get pointers on my resume and download a plain text copy. I did, and afterwards I was shown my subscription had been cancelled. Unfortunately 12 days later i was charged the full price. I called to find out why, to my shock there was no record of my cancellation but the representative was willing to prorate my refund (give back most of my money but charge me something) as a courtesy. I asked if there was somewhere i could send my initial cancellation email, so that I could prove that yes, I did cancel during the 14 day trial. I was asked if i was willing to accept the refund, implying that if I was my proof that i was charged in error didn't matter. I appreciate getting my money back but i should not have been charged. If you use the 14 day trial and cancel please keep you emails. You may be charged anyway.
Dear Natasha,
Thanks for your comments and we apologize for any inconvenience.
We may not know how exactly you have cancelled the service online, but if you successfully did, you will be prompted that it was cancelled and an automatic cancellation confirmation email will be sent to the email address used to create the account and as you’ve stated you were prompted that it was indeed cancelled and received a cancellation confirmation email.
We would like to get in touch with you again to resolve this issue at hand. You can also email us a copy of the cancellation confirmation email you had. Please feel free send it via e-mail to [email protected]. You can also contact our customer service at toll 1-888-816-0576 or by live chat.

I would give it no stars as they charge you a huge monthly fee that you do not agree to. Luckily they do reverse it if you request it ( at least they said that they would. I 'll have to see if it comes through). What a shoddy company!

What a scam!
They opened a ticket for my claim of being robbed twice by them, but now that I asked for an email as a proof of my membership cancellation, they can't find me in their system... jajaja this must be a joke!

I created a resume. When I downloaded it the bullets didn't line up and I had to retype the entire thing. It wouldn't let me move or delete them. On live chat I asked for a refund of my original $. 95 since I wasn't able to use the product. This was the response I got "The charge is valid since the account was used. The bullets that do not line up could be the software you are using to view the file". Ridiculous! Don't waste your time on this produce.

This site is RIDICULOUS. I paid the initial fee to make my resume using a re loadable Visa. After reviewing my charges on the card, I then noticed that they charged me for an 7 months at the rate of $34.95! Who thinks that keeping a resume should cost that much per month! REALLY? $420.00 per year? When I contacted them they said my fault for not understanding that they could keep charging me for a one-time service month after month. After objecting, they credited me back 2 months. BEWARE OF THIS SITE
Dear Mark,
Thanks for your comments.
Mark, we take great care in letting our customers know what they are subscribing to. All of our subscriptions are auto-renewing if not cancelled. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
We offer the option of a monthly subscription, as many of our customers realize that creating a custom resume and cover letter increases their odds of getting the perfect job for them. Thus, they keep their subscription for the duration of their job search.
With regards to the refund processed, it was given as a courtesy credit.

TBH, I cannot speak to the quality of the product as I did not get a chance to complete the intended service.
I can however, say that the fee structure is very deceptive:
Sign up for "Monthly" fee and you will be charged annual amount. The verbiage on the various pages do not clearly state that you WILL be charged for an entire year and can only cancel AFTER that year. That is NOT a monthly fee payment structure.
The Chat services offered are responsive and provide appropriate credit but were rude and implied that I didnt know how to read :). I see it as deceptive wording left up to interpretation and I fell for the scam.
S o regardless of quality of service, they lost me with the BS.
Dear Andrea,
Thanks for your comments and we appreciate your feedback.
The details of our annual subscription states that it is $7.95 per month, pay upfront for the annual service and can cancel at any time. It is the best value because it saves 75%. We are sorry for any confusion.
We apologize for any inconvenience if you did not get the best customer service experience. Again, we are dedicated to providing our subscribers with the best customer service experience possible. We will address this matter as we always want to give our subscribers the best experience in customer service.
If you have any further questions or concerns, we have Customer Service available to all of our users 18 hours a day, 7 days a week at our toll free -888-816-0576 to help with any issues. You can also contact us by live chat or via e-mail to [email protected].

The software that they use to walk you through the cover letter building process is very nicely done. Unfortunately, they lead you to believe that the service is initially free until you have spent all the time building your document. Once it is finished you realized that you are locked out of actually using it unless you sign up for a recurring payment of $40 per month, which they sneakily phrase as $10 per week. That idea that someone would pay $40 per month to store a resume or cover letter is just absurd with so many actually free alternatives. It's a shame to see an admittedly good product ruined by shading business practices.
Dear Eric,
Thanks for your comments and we appreciate your feedback.
On our site our free account gives you the ability to try out our product to create resumes and cover letters, and to explore our templates, designs and text tuner samples. If you want to print a resume to bring to an interview, email your resume/cover letter, or download a professional looking resume then you do need a subscription. However we do offer the ability to download a FREE Plain Text format.
A monthly subscription to Resume Builder makes tailoring, customizing, and creating cover letters for every job that you will apply to. You can email, print and download unlimited resume and cover letters for your desired jobs and store it onto your computer. If you think a monthly subscription is not suitable for you, you can always cancel at any time. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings, if service is no longer needed.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: [email protected]

The resume builder is excellent and really helps you to set up specific resumes for different types of job applications. My complaint is that they call it "free" and then after you spend and hour or so building your resume they tell you there is a charge. The charge screen clearly states that there is an auto renewal at $9.95 per week that is taken once per month but that you can cancel any time or there is a $7.95 per month fee that you pay yearly, up front and requires a one year commitment. I believe that paying $94.00 to create as many different resumes as you desire with professional quality is an appropriate charge but $40 per month is not-unless you are at the Executive level.
Dear Jeannine,
Thanks for your comments and we appreciate your feedback.
Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. If you like what you see, we ask you to pay for a subscription. The ability to print, email, or download your resume are only listed as a feature of the paid subscription and are not listed as a feature of the free trial. We're sorry for any confusion.
We listed different prices variation based on our customers need. The reason we have it on a monthly subscription is because many of our customers continue to use our service for several months during their entire job search. For best chances at getting a job, we do encourage users to create a customized cover letter and tailor their resume for each job they apply to. A monthly subscription to Resume Builder makes tailoring, customizing, and creating cover letters really easy and fast.

I signed up to help my 18 year old make a resume for a job. I did cancel that night. I have so many automatic withdrawals on my account i did not notice for the past 6 months they have been deducting $34.95 from my account. When I called them it took them forever to find my account (so how was I supposed to). The email was my son's and had been going into his SPAM folder. Not only would $34.95 be a ripoff for 1 resume, but imagine paying that times 6 for 1 resume with no work history. Anna B. Please don't bother responding. You know you rip off people so don't even bother with your company lines. I don't know how you sleep at night. Karma is a $#*! though. You will reap what you sow.
Dear Shari,
Thanks for your comments.
Shari, we make cancellation really easy, we provided 4 ways to cancel: By phone, chat, email and through “Account Settings” online. We are not sure how and what method of cancellation you have used, but if it was cancelled successfully you will receive a cancellation confirmation email to the email address used to create the account.

Who thinks that keeping a resume should cost that much per month! REALLY? $420.00 per year? What a rip off. This company sucks with their customer service. I cancelled one day after I noticed this charge go through for the month of march, and they WON'T REFUND MY MARCH PAYMENT. This company must be so hard for money that they enjoy ripping people off. Well played, scammers... well played.

Answer: This is what the site advertised: For 14 day access, $14.95, and for a year $39.80. However, signing up for ANY service aloows the site to store your payment information for further billing, and getting in touch with them, much less obtaining help is nigh impossible. After two weeks they will pull $39.80 MONTHLY from your payment method (please see my review and others on Google and yelp for further verification of this).
Answer: Do not use this site!
Answer: I had to cancel my Debit Card account with Bank of America, because the Bank refused to block LiveCareer from my account. I wonder if they are in cahoots or what? I believe a class action suit may be required so we can get our funds back.
Answer: Call your bank and change your card number Call them and let them know you have contacted your bank and will contact the better business bureau of you don't get a full refund. Then contact the better bBB and file a formal complaint. You will have a refund within a week. That's how I got my money back
Answer: Dont waste your time trying to contact them. I went to my bank and had all future billing refused AND I went to the State Attorney General and reported them.
Answer: Hello, Sarah - Thank you for getting in touch with us, our subscriptions are auto-renewing, we have a continuous billing feature that charges your account after the 14-day period and every month for the regular price afterward. However, if you are only interested in the 14-trial and wish to avoid any recurring charges simply cancel your subscription before beforehand. We hope that this helps clear things up for you, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Best regards, LiveCareer US

Dear Anelise,
Thanks for your comments.
The options to print, email and download the resume and cover letters require a paid subscription and you can cancel anytime.
