The company's customer service approach is characterized by a mix of commendable support and significant concerns regarding billing practices. Many customers praise the helpfulness, professionalism, and genuine nature of the representatives, noting positive experiences in resolving issues quickly. However, a troubling trend emerges with numerous complaints about unauthorized charges and difficulties in canceling subscriptions, leading to feelings of frustration and distrust. While the quality of the service, particularly in resume building, is acknowledged, the company's billing transparency and communication practices require urgent improvement to enhance overall customer satisfaction and trust.

Ms "*******@livecareer.com", listen to this, as this is just a follow-up from my first review. Quite despicable to know that after reviewing more than a dozen of complaints, your company has not been able to curb the pattern to trick your unsuspecting customers. Why did you not redesign the online auto-renewal system so that your clients will not be trapped again to the the same, sorry to say this, scam? Wake up people!
My remaining effort now is to retrieve the money you took from my account. Period!
My wife mistakenly forgot to cancel the auto renew subscription after signing up for the service. I get it. But she has now called to cancel 3 times yet the charges keep rolling in every month. She is about to lose her mind. I just emailed anna. B who has responded to the various comments on SiteJabber. We'll see if she takes action. Stay tuned

Horrible customer service! Very illiterate people and very rude and condescending. They are sneaky and will give hidden charges despite the monthly charges.

Unlike many other users, I had no problems at all with this company. You can build your resume for free, there are a lot of nice templates and pre-made descriptions for all kinds of industries, so it really helps you to get more ideas of what to write and how to put it nicely. You have to pay to download this resume, and they clearly state everywhere that you are given 2 weeks free subscription and will be charged later on, unless you cancel the subscription. The day before the free trial expired, I went in to my profile on the website, and clicked to cancel the subscription. As a bonus, they offered me another month free, but I didn't need it anymore, so I proceeded with cancellation. And that was it. I wasn't charged and didn't have to do anything else... Very easy, if you know how to read. No idea why people had so much problems with this site. I think it's a great service and I will recommend it.
Hi Polina K.,
We are so happy that you found our service great. We appreciate your feedback. Thanks for recommending us to others. We wish you career success!

Paid the initial $1.27 and then cancelled my account during the 14 day trial period. Was still billed $53.44 the following month. 2 live chats and 1 phone call later they say they can't reimburse the charge as I "deleted" my account not "cancelled" my account. Brutal!
UPDATE: 2 more live chats (had one person not even respond to me after they introduced themselves?) and then I contacted my credit card company. The fraudulent claims person contacted live career and they told the credit card person that I had cancelled on the 14th day and it had to be BEFORE the 14th day but they would reimburse me. 4 days later I had a $51.00 reimbursement from live career... summary... not worth the hassle.

They lure you in with a super cheap 14 day trial and then charge you a bunch of fees after the 14 days is over, I had to get a new debit card because of this.

I have recently deleted my account and upon that there wasn't anything stating that the subscription would still be running. Because I'm from Canada it took $54 out of my account! I called to get it back and nothing. I asked to talk to a manager and I was told no they will tell you exactly what I said to you. The lady I talked to was very rude and kept cutting me off and was talking to me like I was an idiot.
I want a refund back of all my money.
The lady told me that she had "great" news that she can refund me only 29.00 back to me. That is nothing and will not help or make the situation better. I am very angry and will never use this site again. And from reading some of the comments on this I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
I have reported live career to my bank and will be contacting the bbb.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Brianne. We strive to deliver A+ customer service and apologize if we haven’t met that standard. We’d like to help you address your concern so you can have a great experience with us, please contact us at https://www.livecareer.com/contact-us
The service was great! Very helpful, many suggestions and templates. However when it came time to cancel my subscription I felt ignored. Conveniently the "my settings" page to cancel was always down. I emailed twice in a span of two weeks and got no response. I had to resort to live help and she was very nice. I don't like how tricky it is. If I didn't stay on this they would have charged my account again. I'm not pleased.

I too fell for the $2.95 resume, seemed like a good deal. It was not made clear that an auto renewal would be applied after 14 days and I actually cancelled my subscription immediately after generating resume. Just downloaded a few months worth of CC statements and kept seeing the repeated charge from Live Career. I contacted them and they said they would only chargeback pro-rated amount of current month, they had billed me for 8 months without a single invoice telling me of the charges. No email, not hard copy, nada! Disgusting, underhanded scam tactics by a completely unscrupulous company. AVOID THIS OUTFIT LIKE EBOLA! I will be filing a chargeback for all but the initial charge of $2.95 through my credit card company and I will be reporting to the BBB.
To Anne B., who is replying to all of the negative reviews...
How do you sleep at night knowing your job is to defend an indefensible company who exists by ripping off unemployed people using dirty underhanded tactics and a wall of indifference?

While my resume was fine, however; the site makes it intentionally confusing to cancel your account. This way they can "technically" charge you the 40 dollar subscription fee. As evidence by the responses I received when I contacted customer service, and also the responses to complaints filed here by others. I do not like being manipulated or duped by unethical companies. I would highly suggest another provider for this type of service. Any site can provide templates, try some other site that won't try to ripped you off.

The site helped me create my best resume because it has good templates and it provides guidance on how to word the resume. A problem I had was that the site was terribly slow! The webpage froze often and this was a huge inconvenience. Worst, sections kept jumping around and I had to keep using the up and down button in "manage sections" to correct the problem. Also, sections of resume kept disappearing completely and I had to continually rewrite the section. It was a nightmare! It took me so many hours to create a resume that should have taken less time.
If the problems I mentioned are corrected, the site will be great.

I was very pleased with my services but opted to cancel my account two days before the 14-day trial was up, knowing that I could reinstate my account at a later date to make updates. OR just create a new account and start over. The services were very helpful.
Well then I followed all of the proper steps the company illustrated and googled how to successfully unsubscribe. Of course I saw all of the discreditable reviews so I made sure I properly unsubscribed. I went through My Settings and received confirmation that I successfully completed.
Then I was charged $40... as you can imagine I was baffled and also upset because my immediate reaction was "Oh great another company just screwing people". Via email I stressed my case and then called customer service. The woman was nice and just doing her job, explaining to me that I cancelled my account, not unsubscribed. So even though I cancelled my account and did not have access to my resume, I was still technically subscribed. Nice guys... does it feel good to be a scam?
After speaking with her, she reimbursed $19 which seems nice but i still paid $21! Not to mention, I work for an international company so I was charged fees on top of it.
Moral of the story is I should have called directly to unsubscribe instead of doing so online. All-in-all I will not recommend their services to the 800 employees at the international company I work for. I'm not a fan of companies who perform trickery to make a profit.
It's a shame because I will use a difference service next time I need to update and polish my resume. This company has the potential to do well but they choose to be a scam instead.
Hi Kara M.,

I signed up for site and realizing the charge was a pre week charge not a per month charge. First mistake. Then I come to see a charge that is 4 times higher that stated on their website. Because they billed out changes on a 4 week basis. So for those of you signing up for a trail. Make sure you cancel. I would have been charged $35.80 every 4 weeks Which is $465.40 a year... a small fortune to those trying to find a job. I check my charges week or two but some people do not. I may not agree this is a scam, I do feel that I was able to get a decent resume from it however their advertising practices are deceitful. Please avoid.

Like hundreds of others who have trusted in this site, a site that is making millions of dollars off of people by stealing from their bank accounts (without them realizing), and without them even using their services! A complete and total joke, scam, and honestly the most unethical company I have ever seen. How does a "career helping", resume building website that is supposed to be HELPING people who don't have jobs aka DONT HAVE MONEY, take money from the people who need it the most? Many magazine companies & websites automatically renew subscriptions but I've never had a company not apologize and refund me. It's sick what these people are doing and they need to be exposed, taken off the web & sued! Obviously if this many people are having the SAME issue, wouldn't you want to fix it? No! Because you're all about the money Live Career, you don't care about offering people good products or services, you're all about getting the free money! Luckily I have a huge network since I recently graduated from the University of Texas with my M. B. A. And I have over 500 UT alumnis in my immediate network, so I will quickly get the word out for them to get the word out to all the people in their networks which links all the Universities and colleges in the United States together, and the faster we get the word out, the quicker we shut down Live Career! Live Career stole the food out of my wife and children's mouths this week. They do it everyday. They trick, scam and take money from trusting, unsuspecting, hard-working Americans who are simply trying to feed their families and make a better life for themselves. To the CEO of LIve Career. I hope you read this (you obviously won't since you care nothing about customer service or PR since you haven't made any proactive policy changes to become a more ethical company) and know that you've hurt and set back SO many people that it doesn't matter if you've helped even one person, so I hope you don't justify taking people's money when you and your website have done NOTHING for that money. Lazy Pigs.

My daughter made a"free" resume, but in order to print or save or edit, she needed my card to pay a one time fee of $2.95. Of course, there is fine print stating you have to cancel within 14 days... blah blah blah... but when you are paying a one time fee, you normally don't need to read the fine print for the 14 day trial, because that isn't what we were doing, Right? Wrong... read it all. Apparently, the one time fee is also associated with the 14 day trial. So, they charged me $39.80. I chatted with customer service and they told me it was a valid charge since I didn't cancel. I am now disputing the charge with my bank and Visa and had to cancel my debit card so I won't have a debit card for 2 weeks. I am so mad right now. I was actually thinking about using this site to make a new resume for myself... but NEVERMIND. I will take my business elsewhere. Sneaky sites like these should be monitored. Karma is a $#*!!

The resume templates are very useful, but beware of their cancellation scam!
I called the customer service rep to explain that I cancelled my subscription months ago, and I asked why am I still being billed? She stated that I didn't cancel my sub. I just deleted my account, (isn't that the same thing)? Apparently it is not, and they are hoping most people end up in this situation.
Looking at the other reviews it sounds like they are making lot's of money... Customer service is horrible... I don't recommend this company!

Answer: This is what the site advertised: For 14 day access, $14.95, and for a year $39.80. However, signing up for ANY service aloows the site to store your payment information for further billing, and getting in touch with them, much less obtaining help is nigh impossible. After two weeks they will pull $39.80 MONTHLY from your payment method (please see my review and others on Google and yelp for further verification of this).
Answer: Do not use this site!
Answer: I had to cancel my Debit Card account with Bank of America, because the Bank refused to block LiveCareer from my account. I wonder if they are in cahoots or what? I believe a class action suit may be required so we can get our funds back.
Answer: Call your bank and change your card number Call them and let them know you have contacted your bank and will contact the better business bureau of you don't get a full refund. Then contact the better bBB and file a formal complaint. You will have a refund within a week. That's how I got my money back
Answer: Dont waste your time trying to contact them. I went to my bank and had all future billing refused AND I went to the State Attorney General and reported them.
Answer: Hello, Sarah - Thank you for getting in touch with us, our subscriptions are auto-renewing, we have a continuous billing feature that charges your account after the 14-day period and every month for the regular price afterward. However, if you are only interested in the 14-trial and wish to avoid any recurring charges simply cancel your subscription before beforehand. We hope that this helps clear things up for you, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Best regards, LiveCareer US

It's a matter of policy for not providing the last name, mostly just like other companies who follow corporate rules. However, we are allowed to give out the first name and employee ID for reference. LiveCareer is a Resume Builder site, and an online transaction. For customers who are interested with the service to print, email and download the resume or cover letter created on site, those information are required to process a payment. However, if customers just want to create a free account we only need the email address and account holder’s name.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously.
