Slow and unresponsive

I've been unimpressed with LegalZoom's process. I am attempting to incorporate in PA, my home state. It's taken over two months and I still am not incorporated! There have been multiple delays on the LZ side with no communication back to me. Example issue: they initially asked me to describe my business, so I said "engineering consulting". Then I heard nothing for a week. When I checked on my status it said "delayed." So I called LZ and they said that PA regulates the use of the word "engineering" and had rejected my application. LZ couldn't have told that to me at the time?! Same thing happened with my business name: I suggested a preferred and two alternates. A week or two went by and when I checked the LZ website it said my application was delayed. Again I called and was told "sorry, all three names were taken." LZ couldn't check that sooner and notify me?

It's easy!

It was easy to get legal documents that you can print at home and execute at home! It's good because I'm handicapped, I can get my affairs in order without going anywhere. Thank you!

The worst ever

Everything takes at least 3 times as long as they tell you plus they never follows up and you never talk to an actual lawyer but they'll take your money in a heartbeat and leave you hanging, been waiting since july

Horrible customer service and failed to do the job. They messed up my simple, uncontested divorce paperwork and I got the papers returned from the New York court almost a year later. LegalZoom still has not sent me corrected papers though I sent my forms to them and they were supposed to get them to me but it's been three weeks and my case is about to expire with the state of New York so I'd have to start over again. I am upset I paid them hundreds of dollars for nothing and a lot of wasted time waiting for my divorce. Terrible, rude and unhelpful customer service on top of everything else. Would never use again.

I have filed 3 trademarks through legalzoom. Their "customer service" reps are increasingly unhelpful and downright rude. The reps' advice contradicts what other LZ reps say, and when you ask to escalate or report rep incompetence, you go into a black hole. It's unfortunate how unprofessional they treat a repeat customer.

I can only blame myself for this.
I was in a rush and believed the hype and the advertising.
After applying for an S corp, I was told that it could take a month. Being the end of the year, I needed it more quickly and was upsold to the "Gold" package. I later found out that multiple services would have done it cheaper and quicker.
But here's what pi**ed me off. After paying for the Gold expidited package, although it was overpriced, I was happy to get my package this past Saturday. Great! I can now open my bank account. Oh. Problem. THEY DIDN'T GET ME AN EIN! I can get my own instantly from the IRS! They said it was missing info. WELL THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU LET ME KNOW I WAS MISSING INFORMATION UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE?!?!?! I called this (Monday) morning. The rep was nice enough and apologetic and told me that I would have my EIN this afternoon or tomorrow morning. (and gave me a small discount) Well. I guess it will be tomorrow morning, because the absolute B**CH that i just got off the phone with now told me "You should have got the EIN yourself! We are a big company that does 100,000 a day! It will take 24-48 hours!" in the NASTIEST tone! Terrible customer service.
The joke is on LegalZoom. I will need 18-20 new Corps. & LLC's in 2017 and you can be sure I will be going elsewhere.
You should also go elsewhere.

Prepare to be ripped off.

They have no remorse in not telling you what paperwork you would need. Then they charge you a monthly fee without telling you. Believe me, they sneak it in there. After I wasted $375. On something that was way more than I needed, it was that $14.95 charge that showed up in my acct 3 weeks later that prompted me to write this review. Not happy. Look for other options. You will be glad you did.

Jonston was amazing 5 STARS

Whom it may concern,

I wanted to express my customer experience with Johnston, he was very informative and help me clear any issues I had with processing my nonprofit. He was very knowledgeable and help me through the process.
I spoke with several Legal Zoom agents but Johnston by far offered the best customer experience.

Worst experience to date.

I purchased an LLC.
Paid the $368.95

Called the day after i realized it was going to take up to 30 business days to receive the paperwork to see about getting expedited processing.
I was told it would be $165 to receive it within 7 business days. It took 10 business days. Not awful but $165 is quite steep to get it later than they said it would come.

I also knew what i purchased came with 2 different 30-day free trials for legal advice and accounting services.
Both of whom i spoke with and did not get any valuable information, only a sales pitch as to how much more i would need to pay to receive the info i needed.

So i called to cancel the 2 30-day free trials:
1- it took 50min to get someone on the phone.
2- i had already been charged for TWO 30-day free trials (one $320 one $375)
3- they told me that an RA (registered agent) is legally required for LLC business owners, and that they charge a fee of $159. So that was also charged on my card. I called NY State and THAT is 100% false.
The only way to remove them as my current RA i have to mail in a form and a $50 filing fee to NYS!
3- in total i had 5 charges totaling to OVER $1000!

I would say you should still get an LLC from them just be carful with all of the "free trials" that come with it and lies about things being required when they are not BUT i am so angry i would not even recommend that!

DONT DO IT!

Watch out after purchasing ANYTHING from Legalzoom. They'll start charging you every month for mysterious benefits that don't show up in your purchase history.

Consistently horrible customer service! They have had so many opportunities to get this right that I feel like I'm in the Twilite Zone. It cannot be possible, in this day and age, to be this awful at CUSTOMER SERVICE. I don't know who or how this company does it's training and hiring, but whatever they're doing is not working. Where are they recruiting these people from? I've spoken to 9 different representatives about the same two companies. Not only does every single person tell me something different, 8 out of the 9 were rude and obnoxious. I simply want to be refunded for the registered agent fee for companies that were dissolved. Representative #7(Ronnie ID: 8311) claimed he issued one refund and would email me, which never happened. When I followed up, representative #8 actually issued the refund, so I thought, but never cancelled the order. He cancelled my order from 2014! What?!?!?! Representative number 9 said Rep 8 didn't issue it correctly and it never went through. I have a different credit card than when placed my initial order in 2014, so am now told i have to wait 4 - 8 weeks for a check that they refuse to issue anyway. Not only that, after two months and 9 representatives, i have to wait all this time for them to still keep making mistakes. This place is more like a holding company for my money and a stress inducer. They've not provided any services. How can one company have service reps that all give different answers and procedures? How can an entire company be this clueless? One company's policies should be uniform, it shouldn't matter who I speak to. I used another similar company for my clients, and while they were more expensive, the customer service alone was worth the price difference. Representative #9 is the only decent representative they had, yet he still could not correct the mistakes of the other representative and i have to wait for a check in the mail because they refunded the wrong transaction. This place is a joke. I can't believe they're still in business! I'm going to the Better Business Bureau regarding this company. I still have no idea what's going to happen with my refund because i can't get straight answers from anyone and I have no faith in what anyone from this company tells me!

I was extremely disappointed that Legalzoom didn't mention anything about the publishing requirements i NYC after I had a long conversation with them about the different costs per state. Customer service was useless thereafter. There are cheaper options like registering the LLC ones self
