While searching for a way to copyright a poem I came across LegalZoom. They kept popping up so I assumed they were who I needed to use to get this done. I didn't know they paid to have there information pop up over and over again. On 11/18/2016 I paid them $150.00 to have the copy right done on my poem. They said it would take 4 to 6 weeks and it would be complete and I would receive a copy. That was a lie! Today is 3/7/2017 and I still haven't received anything so I gave them a call only to find out that after they submitted my poem they were done with the transaction. I had to call the U.S. Copy Right Office myself to check on the status and I found out I could have submitted my whole collection of poems for Copy Right and it would have only cost me $55.00! I feel like a fool but you don't have too! Now you know, if you need something Copy Written do it yourself. You can also do wills, divorces and several other things they offer yourself as well so don't be taken like I was...
The Legal Zoom website and documents indicate the following when finalizing a Will... In Connecticut, it is highly recommended to have the Will and the witness signatures notarized. If not, at time of execution, either or both of the witnesses may be called upon by the probate court to validate the Will and the attestation. In Connecticut though, notaries are not allowed to notarize a will - only a law practice can do this. The cost of this runs well over $100 - $150.
The Legal Zoom website simply states that notary work is available from a UPS store. In Connecticut they cannot and will not notarize a Will. The Legal Zoom website provides NO warning or caveats with regards to Connecticut law. It provides no language about the high costs of notarizing a Will.
The purpose of a Will is to avoid conflicts with the Probate court. If the Will is NOT notarized and, either or both witnesses cannot be located, then the estate can be tied up in Probate.
So a few suggestions... You are the lawyers, not me. Enhance your website with regards to Wills in Connecticut and amend language about the use of UPS stores to notarize a Will. Going into this I expected to pay about $80 to Legal Zoom plus normal Notary fees. I did not expect to have to find an attorney, then pay double (or more of) the total cost in special Notary fees. Shame on you Legal Zoom!

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is simply built to take advantage of people that are inexperienced in starting a business. They blindly enroll you into a myriad of subscriptions that have zero value and then make it nearly impossible to cancel. The effort required to cancel is oftentimes not worth the $200 annual fee.
I wish the horrible customer service was just negligence instead of what it really is - a way to wear you out instead of trying to reach the right person (and I do mean person - NOT department) to simply cancel an annual subscription that you never needed in the first place.

I paid for expedite and it was a joke. Everyday they would need new information after I specifically ask if they needed more information. The worst part is they are taking in more projects than they can service and the phone support ties up 1 to 2 hours each day of my time waiting for them to call me back only to have them call and tell me they closed and to call back again tomorrow. Not sure why they can send an email with they need something clarified further. Just talked to customer service rep and they said "they will keep an eye" on my order, but by now one can understand I might be skeptical.

I purchased a Will for CA a few years ago and found out, fortunately within a couple of weeks, that one of they signatures LegalZoom directed me to get would have COMPLETELY INVALIDATED THE WILL. I have not trusted their site since. If they are not going to do the research to find out what is required for something this important, and what will invalidate the document, how can I trust them for anything? I don't. I am adding an m to the site name because LegalZoom requires an order number.

This company is a complete and utter joke. I had them file for a trademark application for me. I paid extra because I thought they were experienced and knew what they were doing. Got a letter back from the USPTO to clarify something. I contacted LegalZoom after countless emails and calls. They told me they were not attorney's that I should contact a trademark attorney to assist me. They completely and utterly dropped the ball and left me out to dry. This is probably after numerous minutes of hold time.
I would advise you find someone else to help you with your Trademark application. LegalZoom has no legal staff nor do they have any sort of expertise with filing Trademark applications. To make things worse you can never find anyone to answer the phone. IMHO this is one of the worst companies ever.

Doesn't matter how much u pay the service still sux I've spent 4 hrs in total to get to talk to a human and I'm not closer to getting finished any they are not helpful

Placed order with Legal Zoom for an LLC. My initial request was made on January 19th for a TN State Business License and a Federal EIN. I have a show scheduled for February 19th and needed this documentation to get my bank account established. The first mistake they made was delay the document submission for 7 days. They did offer me a discount due to this mistake which I appreciated. Today is the Friday before my show and I just found that they incorrectly completed the documents for the state and had to resubmit the application - So, I won't have my account in place in time for the show. Once again they gave me a $75 credit. I used Legal Zoom because I wasn't sure I understood the process, but the time I have spent calling them regarding my business, could have been spent contacting the state and handling this process myself. They say I will have my TN license the first of next week. We shall see.

5 calls. 4 disconnects when the "help" gets cornered by a question they cant answer... just the kind of professional help you want in a legal service eh?
I demanded a refund and all I got was runaround and phone disconnects. No way would I EVER mess with these people again... I ended up doing a chargeback on my card and blocking future charges from them!

They charge you and additional amount to speed up the process to be be sent in within 2 days then make excuses day after day on why they are unable to complete their side. 12 weeks and about 6 hours on the phone later and my application has still not been submitted. For everyone who has not yet filled with Legal Zoom, spend the little extra money and get a local company with quality service file for you. I have filed for many companies but this is the first and last time i will ever use Legal Zoom.

I paid $600 plus dollars to register my business, they call me and then put me on hold for 5-10 plus minutes. WIll never use it again.

I just spoke to someone named Brandon from LegalZoom. He was extremely rude and not helpful. He raised his voice to me and when I asked to speak to a manager he said there wasn't one. I was trying to explain that the corporation I set up last year was never opened and is being closed (dissolved) by the state of CA. I was trying to get LegalZoom removed from agent of service. I informed him CA takes about 60 days to do so and wasn't going to pay $159 renewal. Instead of being helpful he was getting defensive.

I was referred by an associate that used them when she started her business and so with reasonable expectations I contacted them. The person that took my information (to start a nonprofit) was friendly, professional, and, I later learned, not completely truthful. The first misinformation he told me was that my last payment would be due in December so I was unprepared in November to be told it was due. November. Two conversations later I still had to pay a decreased amount but to do so I had to change the plan I'd originally signed on for to one that offered free services.
The second surprise arrived with the paperwork to file for my nonprofit status: the fee to file had changed from: "it won't cost you anything" to $800. What?! The catalyst to write this review happened about 90 mins ago. I received a call from Legalzoom 2 days ago to make an appointment for a free consult with an attorney regarding filing taxes for my company. THEY called me. An hour before my appointment, 9a.m. Legalzoom sent me a reminder email which they should have sent to the attorney scheduled to talk to me because I haven't received a call from him/her. I don't recommend using them. They received $1100 from me and I've been lied to. Do not use them to file a nonprofit and if you do question everything and have them send you an email detailing everything you talked about.

Please do not... I repeat do not use LEGALZOOM for anything. They are rude and unresponsive and will only take money from you. Since they get paid by what packages they sell you. They don't do anything for you that you can't do yourself for waaaaaaaay less!
After I cancelled the services they still continued to charge my account. I had to cancel my account and open a new bank account so they can not have access to my funds. They are truly low people and am pretty certain there is a special place where it is hot down below for them...
Fortunately I was able to file a FRAUD CHARGE against them for what they did. They also were to refund me another amount of $129 that never came and I was told to get with my bank on it.

I hired Legal Zoom to file articles of Incorporation in the State of South Carolina. This can be done online the same day, yet after almost 30 days, I am still in "delayed" status despite having provided all necessary and required information.
I suspect legal zoom does not have a licensed SC attorney to sign off on the corporation paperwork, yet they are taking money and claiming they can perform these legal services. I have had no communication from Legal Zoom now that they have my money, and due to the delay, my client is angry with me.
Stay away from Legal Zoom, as they are not ethical in their business dealings. I am filing complaints with the SC Bar Association so they can investigate to see if Legal Zoom is, in fact licensed to perform the services they claim they can handle.
