The company has garnered a solid reputation for product quality and value, with many customers expressing satisfaction with their purchases, particularly in terms of craftsmanship and timely delivery. However, customer service experiences reveal a significant concern regarding slow response times and difficulties in handling returns and refunds. helmet sizing is WAY off. I have a 22.25" head, at the bottom of the medium scale. I got the helmet, tried it on and broke a BTE hearing aid getting it off. It was THAT too small. Had to get a Large instead. RMA wasn't a hastle at all, but the replacement box was beat to all heck. Seems Leatherup doesn't keep good care of their stock IMHO. Helmet still has issues, the shade lense is all distorted and foggy on the lower half, not good for seeing, but I dont want to hastle with another return. Tried cleaning it with lense cleaner to no effect, issue is with the plastic itself.
Otherwise its a good helmet, I like the full foldback feature of the front face, and the built in shades are a blessing, when they are clear enough to see traffic. Large fit my head firmly, and should be considered a medium in my opinion.
This helmet fits nicely. The sun-visor is very easy (even for a new rider) to use and handy especially in a setting Florida sun. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I priced a similar helmet at the Harley store for $250.
Great helmet. Sun visor a real plus. Very easy to flip the face up. A ...
I recently purchase this helmet. I ride 60miles round trip to work daily. I leave early in the morning, and rode in temperatures below 48 degrees. the helmet kept he from feeling any cold weather. the slide down sun viser is an awesome feature. Love the helmet and the price was great compared to other modular helmets
Typical oflow price helmets with flaws that is unacceptable.
1. clear face shield don't fit snugly causing wind noise and leakage.
2. inner shield don't go down far enough to be effective in sun shielding, you'll see reflection off the gas tank and the chrome trimming.
3. inner liner is poorly fitted, exposing the foam cushion.
4. chin strap is improperly located, too far forward to where the strap barely go across the chin when worn correctly.
Still, it's a vast improvement from the previous "Advanced Hawk" modular helmet I bought from Leatherup.
This one actually fit correctly.
You get what you pay for.
Nice paint job, good functionality and very effective aerodynamic design.
The Hawk Helmet,is great. I didn't give it a 5 star because i found it a little heavy when visor is all the way back, but i'll get use to it. I like it for those long runs & in the rain. The drop down shades are great.Thank You Leatherup.comI've ordered other riding gear from you & you.ve always exceded my expictations.

I have been on two trips with this helmet, both days were warm but not hot(80's). Ventilation was really good, and noise was not too bad with the visor closed, or win the openface positions. Found it to be a very light and comfortable helmet. Was concerned because the sunvisor control is located where my scala ride rmounts but it fit with no problem and works fine. Took advise of others and ordered one size larger and worked well. Overall much more than I expected from an inexpensive helmet. Thanks Leather-Up for proving customer satisfaction means something. Good value for the money.
Great helmet. Extremely well made and worth much more. Easily mounted my SCALA G4 (Was worried it wouldn't fit...it does) Order 1 size larger than you think.
Previous Hawk modular I had was size XL, I might have been more comfortable in a XXL for the Transition. I had to modifiy the ear cup area to get my JM Elete speakers in. Cup was not deep enough so I routed them out about 1/4 inch......might not have had to do this if I had ordered an XXL. Mike mount did not enterfere wth the activation lever for the inside visor.
I liked the styling, but some distortion in the clear shield and lots of distortion in the interior visor spoiled it quite a bit. Mine also came with a chip broken from the control tab for the chin bar. Leatherup does have return risk, as they don't allow the return if you wore it and found out how poor the interior visor is.
This is my second HAWK helmet. My first being the Hawk 6607 Bluetooth helmet. I like this helmet much better than the Bluetooth helmet (except for the lack of Bluetooth). This helmet has better construction and definitely better ventilation and internal padding. This helmet is quieter and more comfortable than the 6607. I wish that this helmet came in a Bluetooth version. This helmet with Bluetooth would be a superior product to the 6607 which has lousy ventilation. The quick release strap on the 6607 would also be a good improvement over the "D" ring that this helmet has. Living in the desert southwest ventilation is extremely important. Having a light colored helmet also helps to keep the temp down when riding in the summer. I really love the way the chin bar flips all the way back it makes the helmet much more comfortable to ride open faced.
HAWK: make a bluetooth version of this helmet and make it available in more colors (white would be nice), put a quick release strap on it and you will have a home run!
I love this helmet! I had no problem with the size. After searching for a new helmet I'm glad I found this one at LeatherUp.com

This helmet is the best helmet I have ever purchased. From the 180 degree flip face shield to the button on the chin strap to keep it from flapping in the wind and the drop down sun shield, awesome (old school expression)! I will suggest that all my peeps check out your web site. Thanks!!!
I wear eyeglasses and behing the ear hearing aids. The helmet works fine with the glasses but I could not wear the hearing aid with the helmet. The wind in my face was less with this helmet than with my 1/2 face helmet with sun visor. I ordered one size larger than normal and it fit loosely. I find myself cruising 10-20 mpn faster when I wear this helmet. I did disassemble the visor. It took a while to reassemble w/o instructions. The manufacturer reccomends closing the visor when in use. I agree. The helmet offers little protection if used with the visor in the up position. Don't disasseble the helmet
Excellent value for the money. This the only helmet I wear, the different options make it a real all around helmet. I would recommend to anyone.
My husband is very happy with the helmet. Great features and price!
I order a medium and found the weight to be close to 6 pounds. The manufacturer clearly states that it is not to be worn in the open postion. I found with it all the way back you feel the pull from the weight on the back of your head and you would still need good gasses or goggles because the wind come under the tinted visor and into your eyes. My head measured 22 1/2 and the medium was a perfect fit. The locking device is plastic and I am not sure how that would hold up when needed or how long it would last if you wear the helmet all the time. The air flow through the vents is really good. I did get a whistle sound when I tilted my head down but that and the wind noise was not too bad. Overall I would recommend this helmet. For the price I don't think you can beat it!
One of the reasons I bought this helment was for the retractable sun visor. It turns out the visor is so distorted as to be unusable because of the distraction caused by that distortion. There is also excessive wind noise caused by a gap between the top of the face shield and the helment. Otherwise, it is a comfortable helment and I like the flip up face guard feature, which works very nicely.
This is a very good helmet, it is qiute, comfortable and my uclear sounds realy good.
But Leather did not sent any care or operation manual. So I called but they were not very concerned about it. If this was my first helmet I would not know what to use to clean the face shield or sun visor or how to replace the face sheild.
Bought helmet for myself after buying the same helmet for my son in black-his helmet was of such good quality our local state hi way motorcycle policeman was totally impressed
He said his helmet was $400.00 -i gave the patrolmen Leather up info for ordering !!!
Answer: Leather can be stretched some what if it's wet. But you should seek a professional cobbler to see if they can be stretched before you try it. Quite honestly you won't have much luck with customer service I found. They're very obnoxious, unhelpful and generally not pleasant to deal with. I wish you good luck
Answer: This is why Revzilla.com, denniskirk.com, and motorcyclesuperstore.com are so popular. I called each of these companies before and spoke to an actual person who had the product in their hands while talking with me.
Answer: You unfortunately made a bad choice doing business with this company. Go check their reviews. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I'd be amazed if you get ANY response from them at all! Sorry to tell ya.
