They only give the actual person mowing about 60 percent of what you pay. If there is a complaint, they don't pay the mower. So, anyone can complain and get their money back and the guy who just spent their time and equipment and paying his crew to mow gets nothing. I am so sick of seeing my husband come home sweating like a dog and then later seeing that they won't pay for his work. He even takes pictures every time of every plane and gets great reviews except when someone wants their money back. All lies but lawnstarter wont go out and look at the property to see that the customer lied. He tells them he has pictures but they don't care. DO NOT USE THEM! Call a landscaper/lawn company that do the hard labor.

Got this service back in March. They start you with a 3 cut deal. First service had to be rescheduled. Had two crew changes before that cut ever happened. The second cut? Nobody showed up, both days were nice days to cut. Sunshine and clear skies. Another crew change notification. Rescheduled for a week out. Had to call and make sure I didn't get charged a tall grass fee for it because they didn't show. Nobody showed up for the rescheduled cut either. Two more crew change notifications and a reschedule for 3-4 days later. Then I got a citation from the city code enforcement for an overgrown lawn. So I went and bought a new mower and trimmer and did it myself. Called and canceled. Don't bother with these guys. Just do it yourself.

They were okay at first, summer 2018. Come Spring 2019 everything went downhill. You can't get anyone on the phone. ALL communications are via email, when they choose to respond, which is rarely. They charge your credit card, and raise their prices without notifying you.

The grass crew string trimmed much of my yard down to the bare dirt. They set their mowers so low it cut down to the roots and damaged my lawn. When I complained the only response I got was via email saying they won't cut my grass for another3-4 weeks to give it time to grow back. Meanwhile, weeds have taken over and are 10" high. They refuse to come cut my lawn.

I cancelled my service, and had VISA block them so they cant sneak in anymore charges.

TERRIBLE LAWN SERVICE AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. STAY AWAY!

Over a year ago, we requested a bid from LawnStarter in Jacksonville, Florida. We subsequently decided not to use them and told them that we would not be using their services. Last week, there was a charge to my bank account from Lawnstarter for a job at our rental house. We contacted them immediately to inform them to cease any work at that property and demanded an immediate credit for the amount charged. At no time did we authorize work from this company. We are still waiting for our credit and it appears that we will have to fight to get a credit for this unauthorized work. Do not, under any circumstances,

LawnStarter does not honor their word to service providers. They make errors and penalize SP ratings rather correcting their issues and making it right. They take money from SP based on feedback from customers without as much as a conversation with SP. The want to control the SP who are independent contractors like employees. They make no attempt to address SP concerns even when they clearly know it's in the best interest of everyone. Overall their success is from low prices not from having or retaining and rewarding quality SP. I would think twice before becoming a SP for LawnStarter.

I was on the phone with customer service. And they would not transfer me to a manager. They hung up on me because I would not hang up. 3rd time they said someone was going to reach out. It has been over a week to get someone out. Everything is by email, and they will not call you unless you force them. I am about to get fined by my hoa because they can not get someone out to trim a bush at my rental property. The customer support is ridiculous. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

This is the first negative review that I have ever posted on the Internet. This company is based out of Austin TX and contracts with different lawn services in the DFW area. You can never expect the vendors to be there on the day that you are told that they will be there, and then when they do show, you never know what you will get. I used them a couple of times early last year before terminating their service. Then early this year, they began soliciting my business again by calling and texting me stating they were responding to my request. I made no request. When I asked them to stop texting and calling, the caller became very ugly. I would not recommend this company to anyone!

The first time Lawn Starter sent someone out they were to move heavy weeds and clean up. The sidewalks and drive were not trimmed, grass and weeds were in the street and driveway and there was no cleanup. I call and rated the job one star. I was told they would come out and fix it. They never did.

Because I have to use the service 3 times, they came out again on 11/5/18. I went by and they did not show. My grass was not moved. After rated the team 1 star, I get another email that I still have one more service. I guess that will be money down the drain. I would not recommend LawnStarter to anyone.

Our lawn was being maintained by a local company assigned by LawnStrater. They did a decent job for a few weeks and then discontinued service after August 26,2018. Excuses included equipment breakdowns and bad weather. LawnStarter continued to provide emails that they were searching for a new provider and emails were received with start dates that never occurred. Calling the company accomplished nothing.

Two days ago, LawnStarter emailed that they could not provide service. During this time, my lawn became overgrown and I had to hire a local lawn service company who showed up today as promised and did the job. I had to pay a $205 one-time fee to mow, edge and clean-up as the lawn was so overgrown. I contacted LawnStarter for a refund and provided the new contractor's invoice and photos of the lawn. They refused payment or responsibility.

I recommend that anyone looking for lawn care service stay away from LawnStarter.

I started with the weekly service in June and they did an okay job for the first month, then everything went crazy - I went through 4 different crews as the crews didn't show up for the set window or didn't do a good job or the crew actually went to the wrong address and cut someone else's lawn! Supposedly Lawnstarter discussed with the crews what happened but nothing was ever communicated to me, they just assigned a new crew... and new problem. As of August 29th I have not had my lawn mowed in over three weeks, despite customer service reassigning the service. Customer Service can only pass a notice to the "assurance team" or "managerial team" and promise they will follow up with the customer, which never happens. Customer Service can also schedule additional services (like long grass cutting or bagging the clips, since my lawn is over two feet high) but if a crew doesn't pick up the job, nothing happens. Also, these services are at additional cost - to get them covered by the company, another department needs to weigh in. If I did not call them to check up, I did not get any information. I do not recommend you use this service - it can go well initially, as they have access to multiple crews but when it goes wrong, it goes WAY wrong. I'm now looking at spending over $200 to have my grass cut, not to mention what other issues may arise from letting the grass get this long. I would have changed company sooner, but I wanted to believe they would address the issues and I've been traveling so not able to be home to locate a single guy with a mower.
