I love Lands' End. There clothes are good quality. However their pricing policies are CRAZY. I purchased a dress in one of their stores for 25% off. The exact same dress online is 40% off. Pricing should be the same whether I purchase online or in the store. They are the exact same company.
I have been a customer for decades and am beyond appreciative for their stellar customer service. I have no issues with their returns and quite the contrary I am very happy with their policies and how hard they work to satisfy customers. Today an online supervisor worked so hard to find a happy resolution to an issue that would have inconvenienced me with a 2 hour commute by public transportation to their store.
I don't know any other company that would find 'out of the box' solutions on behalf of their customers. I can only say a million thanks to them.
I hate shopping at Land's End. The website is not user-friendly. Their sizing is inconsistent. I had to order two skirts in a size 2 women's and a size 3 junior, because one skirt wasn't offered in juniors. These clothes are not made for tall skinny girls, either. With their size measurements, I am expecting to have to alter the waists in order to get the correct length of skirt, which will cost more money. Their quality isn't that great, it doesn't hold up in the wash.
In the last several catalogs I have seen Lands End advertising "Authentic" Madras shirts. They aren't even close to being authentic. Ads claim "from country of origin," which is correct, but the real Madras cloth plaids were made in the Madras region of India and were dyed with vegetable dyes which when washed faded to the prized soft patterns that were in huge demand in the 1960's. These shirts may be from India and may be plaid, but any resemblance to "Authentic" is verbal only. These ads are deliberate lies.
I've been meaning to write this review for awhile. My giant family all ordered matching flannel pjs for Christmas. Foolish me left ours in the box until the week before we needed them. My husband's were too small. I called right away. Although they didn't have anymore in his size in the correct pattern, when I explained why another pattern wouldn't work, the wonderful lady on the phone went to the warehouse to see what she could do. She found what we needed. Thank you Lands'End for making our Christmas picture happen!
I received some paper gift certificates from my mom before she passed away. They were old. So I called to make sure they were still good. Gave the customer service rep all of the gift certificate numbers and were told they were still good. So I placed my order and it was supposed to arrive on December 8th. I was told because they were paper gift certificates my order would be delayed one day. I did not use all of the $535 and was told that a gift card would be issued for the rest. I received a gift card for $135, missing the additional $150. I called to find out why and where my order was and THAT is when I was told that they would not honor the rest of the gift certificates. Even though it doesn't say that on their web site. I have to contact the company that issued them and they have to say it's ok. If I get the remaining balance and use the card for $135, they won't get my business ever again.
Called me to verify payment for an order placed online. Charged me AGAIN. Customer Service refused to refund or issue a call tag for duplicated order and are still charging ME for the return. BOYCOTT this greedy weirdos! Taking money by any means and keeping it. Disgusted, I don't know how they stay in business! Happy Holidays, we're keeping you addition $100 and we'll process your return after you pay to send it back and it sits in our warehouse a month. Completely infuriating!
I have bought Land's end sheets and towels for many years and they are consistently the best. I love the feel of the sheets and everything lasts for years (or until I want new ones). LOVE Land's End!
I purchased two sheath-dresses from Land's End. They came in a timely manner but were to small. I had to exchange them. Ok, so I'm thinking their GREAT return policy that I had heard so much about. I returned them a week ago via UPS and the return label provided by Land's End. I call asking for an update on the return. The return is not in their system. The lady in customer service informed me returns take at least three weeks! Moral of the story. Do not order from Land's End unless you are sure of the size.
These are not wrinkle-free in the least. I tried 4 pairs about 4 years ago and had the same disappointment. Thought maybe they had a new supplier but the same results happened. The first washing produced a puckered, wrinkled fabric and even the creases didn't hold. Haven't heard back from them yet so stay tuned. JC
Eleven years ago as new grandparents we decided to get our kids and grands - and ourselves - nice personalized Christmas stockings. We've bought more each year as the family has grown. It's great that Lands End has kept many traditional favorites, and added new designs. We just bought our 21st stocking this year - following the birth of our 11th grandchild. I hope they keep up this tradition so our kids and grands can keep up our tradition!
It's probably not fair to compare any company to Amazon but then again why not. I'm a prime member of Amazon and really enjoy ordering items that are prime, free 2 day shipping. But I thought I'd give Lands End a try. I ordered a couple pants on August 8th and have been informed the items will arrive on August 31st. Really 14 days, are you kidding. Totally unacceptable! Okay, so I knew it wouldn't be the 2 day like Amazon but 14 days is not acceptable. Sorry to say but Lands End is just not competitive. You would think they would recognize they must step up their service or simply go out of business. Their products are not exclusive other than their brand and can be purchased from countless other competitors. So my advice to them is to figure it out or die a not so fast death!
I ordered my swimsuit a day before their 50% off memorial sale started, and when I called they refunded me 50% anyway. Very helpful.
I just received an $18 credit on a $34 item that I had returned. I understand having to pay some shipping costs on returning an item, but I feel that $16 is excessive. While I have a number of items from Lands End that I enjoy wearing, I will hesitate to order from this business again due to the risk of losing money when returns are necessary.
Horrible experience all around. This company does nothing to help you negotiate their web site, makes the whole gift card thing difficult, advertises as though they have merchandise in stock and in most cases they don't. Big fat waste of hours of time.
Never ever ever ever ever again
Lands' End tall clothing is almost exclusively knitted fabric. I heard this is because knits are easier and cheaper to manufacture than woven fabric. But it often results in an ugly product. So many of the Lands' End tall women's clothes would be great if they'd just make them in better fabrics. And if they'd actually add length to the torso the way they say they do. Half the tall dresses come with a waistline that is practically "empire." You end up looking like Holly Hobby.
I think if lands end is going to send you multiple promotions they should honor all of them. I had 2 promotions I wanted to use 40 percent off swim suits and 25 percent off full price items. Online you cant put in 2 codes. I called the company and they would not help. They actually suggested that I spit up the order since I could get free shipping on both orders. They would rather use more packaging and boxes to ship separate orders than put in the code. I needed expedited shipping so I didnt want to pay expedited shipping twice. Needless to say I deleted merchandise and will rethink shipping for a company that makes senseless decisions.
The quality of Lands End is excellent. Far better quality the LL Bean. The folks that work the Lands End departments within Sears have a true love and interest in Lands End. The merchandise is so wonderful that it woulgreat if they had their own seperate brick and mortar stores. Would love that is Massachusetts!
Love their stuff but usually only buy when have a promo code...
Lands' End has excellent quality merchandise. I love their business line, as they can put any business logo that you send them electronically on most of their merchandise. The prices are higher than they should be, however. I wait for when they have a free logo or free shipping promotional.
Answer: They charged me shipping on my order. (I no longer patronize them because they charge for shipping returns, even if the product is deficient.)
Answer: Beware of Lands End's current "free" shipping scam. We get emails almost daily from Lands End offering discounts on certain items or even any item they carry and the have also been offering "free" shipping. Of course almost every online shopping site is offering free shipping right now. The difference between all other sites/sellers free shipping is that they will either give it to UPS, FedEX, or the USPS and those people make the actual delivery to your door in a few days. I'm assuming it is an effort to save money Lands End "free" ships packages via UPS BUT only to your closest major postal facility and drops all the "free" shipments there. It is then up to the USPS to sort everything and deliver the package to your home. This can result in a delay of from several days to a week or more. Our latest purchase was dropped at the sorting facility on 12/5. From there it needed to be sorted and delivered to the mail facility that handles home mail deliveries. Bottom line is that we didn't get the delivery until 12/9. That is after leaving the Lands End warehouse on! 2/2. I get shipments from LL Bean or Amazon purchases delivered in 2-3 days. The response we got after questioning Lands End was that if we want deliveries in 2-3 days we would have to pay for shipping. Considering the delivery times I get from other sellers offering free shipping, I think Lands End is misleading customer's expectations of "free" shipping. Come on Lands End, I want that big brown truck to bring my packages to my front door and want it to be REALLY free or you have lost a long time customer.
Answer: I don;t know about knit pants but I have had the Starfish for a couple of years now and they don't become baggy--just a little but they bounce right back after washing. I was very happy with mine, went to get a new pair and ended up with a pair I cannot wear. Dismayed to find that returns are too complicated (expensive, too) so will be getting out the sewing machine to make them fit (they are huge in the thigh). I think the problem lies with having ordered Tall. The old pants are just Regular. Be careful about sizing!
Answer: Several years ago i ordered 5 bridesmaid dresses from LE. I had to send two back for a different size. The replacement dresses were a slightly different shade of the color. Then had to send all 5 dtesses back to get all same color. What a mess!
