I help small businesses with their web presence. I have been an IONOS customer for more than 10 years and I have to say I am highly disappointed in the MyWebsite Now Plus package. To date I have ordered four packages for various web projects and to date NONE OF THEM WERE SUCCESSFUL. The technical support - wait what technical support - it doesn't exist, they can't even size a font, have very basic knowledge and always promise to call you back and don't. Just a glorified customer service rep trying to sell you more products than helping you solve your problems. They only have 23 templates, yes 23 (WIX has 900+ templates). I have complained so much about their support, website options and lack of follow-up that I've decided to move all my clients to another provider. They state "No Fuss WordPress" and they are right, don't call them to fuss about the lack of service just deal with it. I called about a technical issue on their part and four days later I still don't have an answer accept, we have escalated the issue to technical support, "wait I thought I called technical support." Only to be told they escalated the problem to someone who they can't call directly, can't tell me the hours of operation or don't know when or if I will receive a call back. The current site is stuck on the website template, after working four hours to create my site and they can't seem to fix it. So save your self the headache, financial cost and as I've told EVERY sales rep that calls me...fix my problem first before you call me about buying more of your crappy service. If I could give them a -5 rating I would as I didn't even want to give them a 1 star rating that was too much! I hope this review helps you.

I called in and spoke wth Michael (called in Tuesday, Jan 30,2024 at 6 pm Pacific Standard Time) and was on the phone for 1 hour and 18 minutes. I can tell you that Michael was absolutely useless in answering any questions. He cannot explain was SSL certificates. All he can say is that it makes the website more "secure"... but not telling you how. Then Michael is always trying to upsell you... again not caring about the client's need, but maybe only to fulfill his own quota. Then I was chatting via text on the ionos.com website with Breza T. I had to ask there times where to go and make a complaint. I finally got an answer after I said their name will be on the complaints message that I sent in. I've been with the company since 2002 (when it was 1and1.com)... that's 22 years ago. I have seen the company do well, but with the incompetent staff they have hired now, I find it a terrible company to deal with. I hope ionos.com can do better and get rid of useless staff as those staff aren't helping the company, rather they harm the company a lot. Cause now I'm thinking of moving to another company.

Absolutely appalling customer service they don't care about your custom. Its been ten years with ionos and due to change of circumstances they made switching/cancellation process so difficult I sent them cancellation notice they didn't bother to call back despite they say they do and now covering themselves with their strict T&Cs for sake of few bucks. I wouldn't recommend neither use them again.

Purchased IONOS web hosting for a company website. Chose this host because our company has used it previously for other projects. Purchased the "Web Hosting Plus" package for a low - medium traffic website. As someone who has hosted with other companies, the experience here is lacking and it turns out that it's going to yield higher costs in the long run. For example, you can't use a 3rd party SSL certificate so you have to buy one from IONOS, even if you've already paid for one elsewhere. The free wildcard SSL that came with the package I purchased can't be used unless I use their nameservers. I'm not interested in using their nameservers for a variety of reasons. Everything here is an upsell, and they even employ "scare tactics" to aid in this. "There have been 34 attempted attacks on your website already. Buy our security scan blah blah blah" Totally fake, considering this is a dev site with a brand new domain with zero SERPs history behind it. Should have just gone through some extra steps internally to use a different web host. Would have saved money, time, and effort in the long run.

Basically, I have been trying to cancel services with them for a couple months now. Knowing the renewal time was coming up I canceled everything online yet I was still billed after this. I called to cancel and get my refund - was told it would happen, it didn't. 2 weeks later I call again explaining what is going on and they hang up on me.

First of all their customer service is absolutely atrocious! Most of them have no idea what they are talking about. You get transfered multiple times for one simple question. They will NEVER transfer you to a supervisor even if your issue isn't resolved. Emails go down A LOT. Just don't do it. We eventually went to GoDaddy. They are slightly more expensive but worth every penny. Every person I have spoken with there is helpful and they obviously know what they are talking about. Seems like GoDaddy hires educated people and IONOS just hires people right off the street.

Based on my experience it seems they intentionally do not warn you when your Cc is going to expire and hope you fail to renew. Then they immediately shut down your domain and force you to buy your domain name back at an exorbitant price. In my opinion this company and it's business practices are nothing but an unethical scam. Customer service is non-existent. They will not take Cc payment over the phone. They forced me to pay the $7 renewal with a WIRE TRANSFER! Really? Then after wiring the money, they still refused to re-activate my account saying they had deleted it due to the ONE DAY PAST DUE of a $7 bill because the date on my Cc had expired! AVOID AT ALL COST!

I got hooked like every other victims for there $1 DOMAIN...and i got debited for the purchase of the domain but when i want to login the website says and i quote "Your password is incorrect'' and when ever i try to reset password "user login details are incorrect" 100% scam don't fall for it

It was a hassle to cancel

I received an invoice from Ionos stating that I was going to be charged for a yearly renewal (which I thought I had already cancelled) so I tried to cancel online but I had to call them in order to do so. After cancelling I received a confirmation via email and thought that it was settled but the next day I was still charged for the invoice which put my bank account in the negative so I had to rush to the bank before work to deposit funds. Then I called customer service again and I was told that they would refund the charge but I only received a partial refund so I had to call them a third time. And for some reason I received the rest of my refund in three separate increments.

If you value your business and your mental health RUN! These people are the most idiotic, dishonest, unqualified morons I have EVER had the displeasure of having to deal with. I'm so aggravated right now because I have to find new hosting and switch over all my clients sites, domains, and emails. I was with this company when it was 1 & 1 and I really liked them. These idiots have DESTROYED my patience and my websites with all of their unauthorized changes. If money is something that you care about, again, RUN! I cannot begin to tell you the random nonsense that these people have tried to charge me for. They literally tried to put a block on my account because of a bill and a plan that I NEVER ordered (I had been with this company for nearly 10 years at this time and they REFUSED to back down on this). Someone used my email address (a publicly listed email address) to order some services and then ditched the account. SO, YEARS later, I get a bill in my email for the amount of these services. I call and they tell me that because it was under my email address, I'm responsible. It's not under my name, my address, the card on file (which had expired at this point according to them), or ANYTHING else that belongs to me, but they honestly wanted to stick this bill to me because the person used my EMAIL address (publicly listed ALL over the internet and on my business website) as a method of contact. I had never heard of anything so ridiculous. There is so much more to this story that involves obvious legalities, but I think you get the gist of it all. Save yourself and just don't EVER deal with these crooks and idiots. If you are a current customer who is reading these reviews because you are wondering if you should stay or go (because they probably just screwed you over too), JUST GO! It will be a royal pain, but go now before it gets worse. Backup EVERYTHING to your own personal drive and just settle in for a headache that will soon be resolved once you rid yourself of this nonsense that IONOS has the audacity to call a web hosting business. I wish I could rate this company with ZERO stars! I hope this review helps save someone from the drama, frustration, and wasted time that IONOS will cause you.

I've had it with Ionos

I have just finished with my Ionos, even that involved firstly canceling everything on their website and then having to phone them to confirm.
Sadly, over the years they have become increasingly spivvy and scummy. Every time I had to phone one of their techies, I was always almost forced to either upgrade my package or pay for some extra. Lately, when some of my domains contracted a virus, I was told by a work-at-home techie that he could sort it out for £70 per site. When I complained, he suggested a deal; three for the price of two. A real barrow-boy experience.
Last January, I moved half of my domains to Siteground. It's worked out cheaper so far, and the speed is faster. You have access to a control panel, and you can, if you get really stuck, talk to a human. Most importantly, you know where you are billing-wise. It's almost a relief to get away from Ionos.

AVOID AT ALL COST!

Avoid at all cost!

Company only gives a days notice for renewal of hosting plan at increased price every year. A day is not enough time to move files out and they count on this. To retrieve files after expiration not only do you pay the increased price but also a reactivation fee. How is this not considered corporate extortion? They need to be investigated by the consumer protection agencies!

I was a new customer trying to find my way around their confusing packages. I paid for a few and left it as that so that I could sort out what I wanted to put on it. There is a certain time to renew or cancel your subscription I was one day late and was charged. I called them and asked if they could just show some leniency but I was bluntly told I could not and had to pay. I do hope you can be more lenient to your new customers, as I was even taken to debt collectors! I paid the amount but shan't be heading your way again.

We signed up and created our website for Ionos to host and it kept crashing. We even upgraded (paid more) and it kept crashing. As our customers were complaining non-stop and give US bad reviews on our website. Ionos was too slow to fix the problem and even when we paid more, we were still having problems. Then they assigned us an account manager and it made absolutely no difference as it just meant more "I'm sorry." However, what is worse is the it took to fix the problem. It seems they have to report to "teams" and escalate to "more teams" and escalate to "different teams" to fix the issue which meant the problem wasn't fixed quickly after the fifth time we went through this charade with them, we left them and it was a hassle to get our refund be forewarned.

After purchasing a domain and webmail service, I contacted customer service to ask why my account was not working. I was informed I had a "delinquent" account and needed to pay more money to make things right and for them to unlock the account. I spend over 45 mins on the phone with them while they tried to find a manager to help correct the issue but they weren't able to find anyone. They even told me "why don't you just talk to the billing team and pay the bill so you can move forward. Such fraud and a scam. Please save yourself and your money by avoiding this company!

I cancelled all my services in the cooling off period as the quality of the website builder was very low and lacked many functions compared to competitors.
I checked with the support team that I would receive no further charges, only to find months later that I am still receiving invoices. The man on the phone insisted that every single service needed cancelling separately despite the UI not making this feasible or intuitive; nor did the support staff mention this when I asked for confirmation that I would receive no further invoices. I was told that I was now outside of the cooling off period so they would no longer cancel it. I was not offered the chance to cancel immediately or receive any refund for the services which I clearly cannot use with the other services cancelled. I am appalled at the Ryanair level chicanery to try to keep charging dissatisfied customers. Not to mention the incessant marketing calls for overpriced services
