My old email address was used to open an account and investigate myself in 2017. I am disabled and do not work, why would I investigate myself. My husband realized this charge on my card and I did not recognize it. We called and were told what is was, that it was never used since activated but being charged monthly. They closed the account but said they would only return 12 months. Asked why only 12 months and the answer was, that is how far our system allows. How can a legitimate company acknowledging what has happened cannot return the full amount. Taking $$ from someone on SSDI, does not make a company trustworthy.

Instant Checkmate blocked us on twitter and Facebook. They have yet to contact us to resolve this. We did get an email from Amy, Director of Member Services but when we called, there was no Amy or a Member Services. Maybe they need to be investigated.

I would leave NEGATIVE stars if that was an option. I was conducting research on an individual in connection with a civil litigation proceeding. Instant Checkmate fraudulently indicated that there were 10+ criminal records pertaining to the individual whom I was investigating. That was the only reason I opted to sign up for the month. After being misled and fraudulently induced into purchasing a report, I discovered the individual actually had 2 traffic violations. Had I known that beforehand, I would NOT have purchased a report from them. I notified them of this and requested an immediate refund as they clearly violated the Deceptive Trade Practices Act which was enacted to protect misled consumers, such as myself. Then they continued to charged my credit card over 37 DOLLARS for two more months, even after they stated in writing that my account was cancelled and no more charges would be placed on my credit card. In fact, the same day that was put into writing, my credit card was AGAIN charged. CONSUMERS BEWARE. This company is NOT to be TRUSTED. SCAMMERS.

The only reason I rated instantcheckmate.com 1 star is negative stars are not a choice.
A background check was requested via instantcheckmate.com by me for me. I received a system-generated email stated in the body of the email: "2 Potential Criminal Records Found"
This is a false statement generated even before the report downloaded. It is especially damaging during this time when I am seeking employment. I wrote to them and received a system-generated customer support message.
I've notified legal counsel.

I don't recommend this service. Waste of time and money

Address's wrong, phone numbers wrong, NO employment History, no pics, licenses not correct. Did a check on known friends and their info was nowhere close. I can find more info on a Google search, myself.
Sent email to support at instantcheckmate.com asking for cancelation confirmation number. As of yet I have no reply and no idea if my account has been canceled.
"Our number one goal at Instant Checkmate is customer satisfaction. If you wish to cancel your membership, feel free to call one of our excellent member care staff at *******985." Doesn't appear to be the case.

Just for the heck of it, I entered my OWN name in the search. I have been getting numerous pop-ups everyday now, and the info they are using to bait me with is TOTALLY FALSE. I have NEVER EVER been in any legal trouble, but it says things like... Ms Dadada's info is shocking! Or "You must see Dadada's report, 1 felony record... etc. I am FURIOUS. I can't even find a way to contact this stupid company to tell them to stop. Instant checkmate is NOT credible.

Reading through these reviews, I see that I am not alone with in experience with not being able to get my personal information off of this website. I followed the opt out instructions exactly but my information still shows up as a result on this website when I google my name. Yet when I go directly to the website and search my name no results show up. I have even emailed their customer support at least 4 times with the link to my information and a screenshot asking them to remove it and I've gotten no response whatsoever. This company is clearly not following the laws for letting people opt their information off of their website. I was easily able to get my information off of every other website I found it on, except for Instant Checkmate. Their opt out process is completely fraudulent! This is causing me a lot of stress. There are so many of us who have tried unsuccessfully to get our information off with no success, maybe a class action lawsuit is in order.

When will ICM IT people add the ability to use Folders to keep all these background reports organized? As it is, the amount of reports is overwhelming after a while and the ability to find /return to a certain report is extremely difficult with all the growing stacks of incorrect (misidentified) reports. Or at least, can't ICM add the capability to look at a generated report and have the option to save it, or discard it.? Why not have something so simple yet effective? AND only being able to delete report from the online phone ICM APP is ridiculous. All these troubles are making it seem pretty inviting for us to return back to Spokeo, Been Verified or Spyfly and use their services instead. ICM has a good product but ICM needs to stay up with the times or be left in the dust of history.

They posted a picture of a black woman as my sister and a some of the info was incorrect about her. I tried repeatedly to get them to take down the picture but they wouldn't do it. I researched at least 10 others on this site and there was so much info that was inaccurate. Almost all the info I already knew, so it wasn't worth the price to have ever used it. It was as if I was doing a title search on the property someone owned because they kept showing me previous owners of the property. I couldn't understand why they thought anyone wanted that info. I wouldn't recommend them or any other site like this one. Don't waste your money.

Month after month, they continued to charge my credit card, ignoring my requests to cancel their 'so-called' subscription! I've spent HOURS on the phone, with them and with my credit card company, to get them to CANCEL & GO AWAY!

I feel duped and hustled! They're like an infection that you just can't shake as them slink in and tap your credit card, month after month, making like it's MY fault because 'I subscribed' to their 'so-called' service!

Buyer BEWARE! I'll NEVER use this horrific company again! I'm a business owner and if I treated my customers like this, I wouldn't HAVE customers! This company doesn't deserve to be in business and I can't WAIT until they go under after hustling people again and again! No good ever comes of that sort of behavior!
