Used to be decent

Very very annoyed with instacart. It is likely a store issue, but our store used to charge "in-store" prices even if it was instacart. In the last 3-4 weeks they have now increased all the prices if you choose instacart, even if YOU GO PICK IT UP yourself. And I am not talking a small increase in prices. I have noticed a 30-40% increase in prices when food costs are at an all time high. (Thanks Biden.) If that isn't enough, our grocery store now charges a $ fee for you to go pick up your own groceries. WHAT?!?!?!?! VERY disappointed to the point where I will be cancelling my instacart subscription and shopping elsewhere.

Ordered pickup from Sprouts.
IC shopper refunded NINE items without my approval and without suggesting alternatives. Lazy! Then he closed out my order an hour early so I couldn't request any alternatives. He wouldn't communicate at all. IC customer service set up a new pickup time with a new shopper and told me to wait for a text to order alternatives. Pickup timeframe has come and gone. Called customer service AGAIN. They don't even k'ow when the new shopper will show up! So that wastes my day and my meal. I can get a $5 credit for my inconvenience but only a IC credit on their app, not applied to my bill. Their customer service is f**ked. Cancelled entire order. Never again!' Now I'm writing a bad review on every platform I can find, They are the WORST! One star is too many!

Do not spoil your mood

I was trying to give this service a chance. Nothing worked. Every time either missing or expired item or poor substitute...There are plenty of out of stock products on the grocery websites, which you order and never get. Always the same. Nothing changed in my 2 years being a customer. I closed my account. Don't bother. Just find the time to go to the store and save money and good mood.

Every time I used this service, every time something was wrong. From different groceries. I got absolutely rotten tomatoes, a huge up to 2lb! Horseradish, etc. The service fee charge is absolutely out of understanding. What it is for?! I am the Amazon prime member since 2006 and if during this entire period of time I had issues, they were ALWAYS! Solved via customer service either in chat or on the phone. On instacart, if you received an expired product, they refund you to your instacart account and if you want to use your own money, you have to post a new order same day. So, your refund works only same day. Seriously? The Instacart looks to me in the way in works like a one, big, legitimate scam. I tried a free membership with Chase credit card - nothing helped to get a better service. I cancelled everything with them and will never use it again. Unfortunately, a couple of my favorite groceries that hold a good quality products directly from farmers, are a bit far away to drive. But I better drive than spoil my nerves with instacart. If you look for the quality service, the only one is Amazon. Amazon Fresh has a not super great variety and the prices are little higher, but if you got any expired product or something was missing, you get an immediate refund.

Beware

They're thieves ISTACART STEALS money. Their drivers will take food items or even deliver to wrong address or substitute without any permission and customer service will tell u nothing they can do about it.

The female delivered my items somewhere else and the guy substitutes a 5 dollar pack of fish for 2 20 dollar cases and customer service told me o well nothin they can do.

Wish I could give 0 stars

I mistakenly subscribed when I was putting in an idea while visiting my son. Instacart is not available where I live. I called was put through to subscription dept. explained and was told that since I got free delivery I could not get a refund. I told her I'll gladly pay for any benefit I received but I literally had the service less than an hour. I explained that I was older and sometimes things like this are difficult, she told me to have someone read the policy to me, and I was rude and hung up, prior she told me there are no managers for that dept. called again, was disconnected, sent email revived response no one manna the email go to app. Did a chat they said I couldn't get back my 106 dollars for my 7 dollar benefit. Refused to give me any information regarding the management of the company.

They don't listen. I wish I could get help but they so pressed they didn't want to refund me the unauthorized subscription fee. I won't dispute with my bank. They didn't do it. I filed a report with the BBB and sent screenshots of the conversation. Can't deny this.

I cancelled my membership a year ago. I found a bank charge on my account unexpectedly a few weeks after I had been charged. Called today to get a refund and to cancel my membership and was unable to do both on the 1st call. She did not cancel my membership and hung up on me. I called a 2nd time to attempt a refund and was unsuccessful and was told that I would get a call back from a manager in 1 hour--which DID NOT HAPPEN. I went online and cancelled it myself and removed all payment info. Then on my 3rd call to confirm it was cancelled and make a 3rd attempt at a refund I was given a lot push back about closing the account. She stated my account was not cancelled and that I still had an active membership even after I tried to cancel it online. She made this process very difficult and her scripted answers were frustrating, I might as well have been talking to a pre recorded phone service. Eventually she told me and emailed me a cancellation of my current membership (a membership I never authorized in the first place!) and told me my account was deactivated, but I do not believe she deleted or deactivated my account. This whole process was shady and hard. Its seems the company aggressively tries to hold onto its members by bullying them and with theft. The only customer service person that was helpful and kind was Jose who transferred me to the membership team. I am currently having my bank investigate to see if my account was never properly cancelled or if it was reactivated by the company. I have not used or logged into the account for over year since cancellation. Its absolutely wild I can not get a refund since I haven't even used these service's in over a year.

Don't work for instacart

I do not recommend working for this company they care nothing about the workers only the money. When you contact about problems with customer or within your app your left feeling more angry then you started. Then don't investigate or have any real pro cools to insure that there employees are safe far as people tryna commit fraud wen a customer give a bad address or don't want to answer the phone they'll have you wait for a customer for more then 10 minutes to wait and see if they come around or answer don't care wat neighbor your in nor your time to fo other others and the batches don't pay good but want you to work very hard and they will let you sit on line for hours without giving u any type of orders jus horrible I swear don't do it you will regret it

I'm literally hearing the conversation on the 844 #! This lady is snoring also never acknowledged the call! I've been on hold over 30 minutes! This is my 1st x using this service and need guidance! Sounds like they having to much fun! Please help!

Melted groceries

Only one driver ever knocked or rang the doorbell to tell me that my order delivered. My cold stuff is melted and/or bad - AGAIN! I have had a problem EVERY SINGLE TIME and have had to go to the grocery store to fix it. Isn't worth it to rely on instacart.

Don't care about seniors

I use there service over 2 weeks,paid each delivery 5 tip,my acc was locked suspicious activity.paid the membership refuse to refund the money,and won't unlock my acc.would suggest there service to anyone.

MEH! Not worrh the cost

I've really tried with the service. I joined their instacart+ program. I use their three hour delivery window ($2 credit), I check the website of the supermarket before i make a purchase and try to buy items which are marked up $.50 or less and are on sale. But the service is terrible. They charge a service fee and they charge at least $1 more than the supermarket charges for EVERY item you buy (just another service fee) and they charge a bag fee and they charge a tip fee, they just charge. I buy yogurt from Shoprite. Shoprite charges $1.25 in the store and on their website, instacart charges me $1.65 for the same yogurt... and then they charge their service fee, delivery fee, tip, etc... so if you buy 20 items, expect to pay at least $25 more than if you went to the market or purchased on-line directly from the market, plus a service fee, plus a delivery fee, plus tip, etc. that wouldn't be so bad except many of the workers are very young and don't have a firm grasp of what they are doing. My ice cream arrives regularly as 'soup' and not ice cream, my items arrive expired, i order one tomato and they deliver 12 and i have to pay for them... sometimes i am charged for items i do not receive. Wouldn't be bad but after a few complaints they put you on a 'restricted list' and refuse to give you a refund for damaged items, item not received, items you didn't order. You might think i am abusing the system but no, the representatives i speak to every time this happens see the problems and the photos but not much they can do except tell me to send photos, emails, requests etc to some 'order appeals' email.,. Personally i would rather dispute the charges with my credit card and warn everyone i can about trusting this service. I have only had one order arrive successfully out of my last 16. This service is so expensive and the only good experiences i had with them was while i was on a free trial. The trial ended and so did the service.

I tried to place an order. It locked my account so I called in to be sure I was not charged the 79.00 Fee. I was told that won't go through either. They managed to charge that fee and refused to review or give me the full refund because it was 6 days later then I noticed it. They lied and fought with me. Refused to listen and even threatened no refund at all. Don't give them your money!

Shopper Lied

I am 71, handicapped. Today, my order arrived missing six items, Four
Items from the deli. The shopper texted me stating "the deli is closed".
This was at 10am. I called the deli. It opened today at 7am. The shopper
Lied, to avoid waiting in line. Also missing 28 oz. Can of tomatoes. I
Called; the store had plenty.
I emailed customer service at Instacart several times, asked them to
Redeliver the missing items so I could eat. They told me they were sorry,
But they cannot re-deliver. The cost to me is an additional delivery fee
Of $7.99, an additional service fee of $2.49, plus tip, $3.00
I summation: Shopper lied, then customer service (after four attempts),
Asked me to spend $13.48 more for their mistake.
It's unconscionable

I placed an order thru Instacart and was offered a free trial membership for one week, I then proceeded to advise them not to renew my membership and to cancel it. However Instacart went ahead and charged my card for another year AFTER I TOLD THEM NOT TO, this is not the first time that it has happened its the third time. I advise customers not to have any cards on file because they will ignore your requests and charge renewal fee regardless of what you tell them. I will no longer be using instacart because of this. I am still waiting for my refund.

I never seen a scammer bigger than Instacart first of all they have all hidden charges then they double charge your account don't give it back this is not first time I caught them highest robbery legal robbery you guys found a loop hole to scam everyone didn't you? Message two times no money back lnow going open dispute if you can get to a store go because shopping to expensive and we are getting robbed already! The workers are even worse being all shopping missing items they double charged me cause I changed the tip which is my right so know they punish you with 245.00?! Right like you think your gonna get extra another 245 your pipe dreaming

I've been using Instacart since 2015 and they have seriously gone down in quality, service & professionalism.

I got a notice that "Igor" was done shopping and my order was "complete and out for delivery". A few moments later, I get another notice that "Sarah" is now starting my order.? I told her that I was told shopping was done and out for delivery. She was clueless; understandable, so she agreed to complete the order and deliver it.

I got another notice that "Sarah" was out for delivery and then soon after that she had "arrived and was waiting for me." This was quite odd. In the 8 yrs I've used Instacart, they just ring my apt and I buzz them in the building and they leave the groceries. I immediately went to meet the shopper and no one was there.

I contacted Instacart and found out that the shopper cancelled the order. My debit card was charged $184 for 20 items at Ralphs, TWICE, (totaling $368) for orders that I never received, in addition to a $15 cancellation fee that I did not request!

A 3 hour ordeal just to get 20 basic items (which never arrived) and to get $ that was stolen, refunded (which can take up to 7 days to post) and I still need to go shopping.

The horror stories about Instacart are true. App deleted. Do not use or beware if you do.

Bad service!

I ordered a specific brand of TURKEY lunchmeat and was charged for it ($14.99) but got the lower grade lunchmeat ( which was HAM)which was $ 4.99 less that I was charged the price of $14.99 I was also charge for product that I asked for plain and got garlic. Call customer service could not tell me why. When a Shopper goes through the checkout line, they scanned each item, so I am not sure how they were able to scan one item that was for more money and two others that were not the same bar scan code. Called customer service really did not seem to care and could not tell me why, be aware of what you're ordering and what you get please note no substitutions were asked for or approved on my part!

I wrote the following to the Instacart service: "I just... the parmesan crisps were the reason in the first place that I made this order. And it takes time to sit there and doodle at the computer to make an order. I do not mind the fact that my order was delayed by four hours from what was predicted. I have come to accept that NYC has taken on less and less of what is associated with punctuality and predictability taken for granted in a a lot of cities. Maybe other places work better for Instacart. But when it clearly says that the thing I want order in the first place is "in stock" and is not likely to be sold out... And I have have had this problem several times now. It just makes it pointless to use this service. It's as useful as asking strangers on the street for the thing you wanted to get. It just defeats its own purpose. No criticism to the person delivering, but this is as useful as exhaust flavored lollipops." I think that there is one situation where Instacart is for you: if you do not mind any variation of the cr#p that is delivered to your door, like if you want oranges and then you get onions instead 4 hours later than promised. Then it's great. Otherwise I suggest you go and buy a bicycle at worst and get stuff yourself. It will be worth it if no better alternative is there. It sounds so harsh, but this is my objective experience. You have no idea what you are gonna get and when you get it. Santa Clause's wishlist has way more going for it.
