STAY AWAY FROM INSTACART! This service is dishonest and takes advantage of the Pandemic crisis. Beware! I was over charged items 100% - I called them and sent emails which were ignored. All I wanted was the breakdown of what I was charged. They said they have their own pricing list. What? I thought you pay for service and delivery plus tip not for their altered items and food prices. So dishonest! NOW YOU KNOW. Stay away! Attached hereto is comparison of Costco prices and Instacart detail. (I gave extra cash to delivery lady)

Save your money

DO NOT TRUST THEM! They are rude and dont care about doing the right thing for the people they serve or are supposed to help! They will take advantage of you and make you feel responsible for their lack of morals. Receipts dont matter to them. They let their shoppers add items you never ordered and when it's on the receipt and the total on the app is ALOT less than the receipt they lie and say some items cost less and you didnt pay for what's on the receipt... makes no sense when you add it all up. They dont understand math and do whatever they can to pass their incompetence off as yours. Horrible company that takes advantage of people in need.

Hello Guys, please check the actual prices before you order in Instacart. They charge more than 25% than actual prices. I will give an example how prices are different.
Item Costco. Instacart
Coconut water. 17. 49. 20. 89
******* Item no.
2 ct.
Kulfy 12 ct. 7. 49. 9. 39
******* X 2
Avacado. 5. 49. 6. 99
*******
Mandarins 7. 59. 9. 09
*******
Eggs organic. 5. 99. 7. 19
******* X 2
Total Costco 75.32. Instacart 96.5.

This Instacart pricing 96.5 - 75.32 = 21.18 greater than original price.

Guys when we ask them they direct you to look pricing policy. This is something people should be aware of. Just wanted to share so that you guys can plan for alternative. Instacart is just looting money that is my opinion you guys decide. I just realized how much money I paid.

Also there is one item coconut water which I ordered for small cans, they replaced with big ones and cost of them almost 60% more than original item. When I asked again they pointed to policy default order replacement all this. Customer support is not user friendly. I asked them on return policy, I have not heard about it till now. It's just what they want to give we need to take our choice is secondary the shopper gets some default power to shop for us which we need to accept and if we ask that is factored and pointed to policy. This is just insane.

If any one want to talk to me I have bills provided by Costco and Instacart as well and email conversations too.

The shopper shops in the store and checks out at the register. My Instacart final receipt says I paid $23.77 for a roast but right on the roast it says the price is a total of $17.15. They will not reimburse me because they said I have to pay what the price says on the app not the actual price of the item. They pocket the difference. Very deceptive practices. I won't be using them again.

I work in a grocery store, the people that you hire are SUPER RUDE. During this covid they call us racist, they literly shove their phone in your face and demand where something is. They don't read it to you, no thankyou from them or please help me. When you ask them to keep 6 feet away, they call us racist. Maybe you should be screening these people before hiring them on. I have only experienced ONE and only ONE person from instacart that is super friendly and nice. I'm so not impressed with these people. But after reading the poor reviews on this company, discusting. Shame on you instacart!

Ordered from Aldi and was told a two hour window. Salvatore started shopping my order right away. An hour later no communication. An hour and a half later, a text said my order was three hours away. How could that be? He already shopped my order. Aldi could not get in contact with the driver. Just disappeared. I was making dinner for a friend on a Friday night. I could not go out shopping myself because I bought a new puppy. I ordered in plenty of time to prepare dinner and after the text came in I tried to straighten it out over the phone and of course puppy couldn't hold it and went in the house. So no dinner and cleaning up after her for a canceled grocery order. I'm surprised they are still in business with the bad reviews. Try another delivery service instead.

Rip off
June 19, 2020

Instacart not only charge a service fee, a handling fee and a tip but also take to store discount i. E you pay full price for everything on discount. They accidentally left in the store the store receipt which showed the savings for that store on the Instacart credit card, which was $465K for the past 6 months. So at this difficult time they are ripping people off.

Ordered groceries from Safeway using Instacart. Total of Safeway receipt was $133.18. Amount charged to my credit card was $185.16. Instacard added $9.63 to the cost of groceries, an additional merchandise markup of $16.52, a delivery fee of $3.99, and a service charge of $10.03. To this we added a tip. What a ripoff!
They markup the markup! They'll never see us again!

June 16, 2020

Shopper took a long time and delivered on a wrong address. When we called she came to our place with warm chicken breasts and melted frozen vegetables, plus hot yogurts and melted ice-cream.
Said would be right back and disappeared leaving us on a bind since store closed at this point.

Instacart refused to process a refund for three items that they failed to deliver from Wegmans. It went so far that I contacted the Better Business Bureau and asked for help. Instacart flat out LIED to the BBB and informed them that they processed my return on a specific date. That did NOT happen, when I told the BBB that, Instacart replied and told me to call my credit card company because they definitely processed it on the specified date. They DID NOT and I informed the BBB. They then replied to the BBB and told me that I needed to contact Wegmans because they were a third party vendor? Why would I need to contact Wegmans about a refund that Instacart handled, you ask? Yep, me too. So, when I contacted Wegmans they informed me that Instacart had indicated that my refund was handled and that I was happy? So, clearly Instacart threw Wegmans under the bus and continued to lie to the BBB. Wegmans, being the quality store they are, handled the refund for me - the BBB left a comment that "Instacart tried in good faith to make good on what happened." A lie. A complete and utter lie. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I live in NYC, by the way.

No

I have been shopping for them for a little under a month. Customer service is the WORST. #1 it's obvious they don't speak English. When you're in a major problem they spend 5 minutes saying "hello" "how is weather today" "I look into that no need for worry I work on now"
They've literally NEVER helped me with an issue.
The app does not tell you what aisles the items are in nor do they have pictures

95% of the time they give the wrong address for the grocery store.

They do not require apartments to enter an apartment number. So you get the joy of standing outside an apartment building for 15+ minutes in the rain hoping someone will come down

They do not pay fairly. Not even poorly. $8 to drive 20 minutes to a grocery store and to spend 1+ hour in a grocery store.

If you have an item on the list that is out of stock, and you refund it- they automatically take a percentage of the tip and keep it for themselves. Not telling the customer that their shopper lost some of their tip

They allow the customers 14 DAYS to rate. I'm sorry... who takes 14 days to look at their groceries on their front porch?

Price Gouging
June 14, 2020

I've been a instacart customer for nearly 2 1/2 years and I'm noticing an increase in pricing. They are over charging for goods and services to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair.
For example, I was charged $38.00 for a Costco pack of chicken tenderlions whereas, the original price at Costco was $18.63. I reached to the company by email and recieved a response that read:

Thanks for reaching out about the difference you see with the in-store prices reflected in your Instacart digital receipt. I'm happy to assist you with this.

Retailers set the prices of items available for delivery on the Instacart platform. Retailers who offer the same in-store prices through Instacart can also include most sales, promotions, offers, coupons, and discounts.

Although prices are based on retailer data, sometimes in-store prices may differ from those available online as a result of the data the retailer provides or recent price changes in the store.

Next, I asked for the original store receipt and received this response:
Thank you for contacting instacart care, we understand you want a receipt from your order.

Unfortunately we do not have access to the Costco system to pull out this receipt, however we can provide you with this receipt from Instacart directly.

If you have any other concern, please let us know.

Sincerely,

They don't provide the original store receipt in efforts to keep the customer in the dark as to how much they are actually paying for items.

I am no longer throwing my money- no longer using this service.
I hope this helps.

Never Ever Again
June 10, 2020

In light of current events, I decided to try it out since they offered free shipping on my first order. Even with that little boost, it was absolutely not worth the expense AT ALL. I know it's probably stressful out there for the instacart employees, but the whole experience was just frustrating. They seemed to not want to deal with the specifics of a lot of items and "replaced" them with alternatives that I did not suggest. The tried to tell me there was only one kind of a lot of items, but I know that Wegmans would seriously never only have one type of hot dog... The bagging was unbelievably careless and my sushi looked like it went through a washing machine. The icing on this God-awful cake was the fact that despite overly-specific directions, they could not locate my address and kept getting sent to another city. I have had plenty of grubhub drivers that could find it without incident. I gave a good tip and did not retract it despite really wanting to. I know times are tough, but I could never rationalize spending the delivery charge and tipping premium to have someone manhandle my groceries and leave out so many items. I tried it to reduce stress and it caused the exact opposite. I can't express enough how I would never use this service ever again.

Disappointing..
June 8, 2020

At a time like this when a senior is restricted because of pandemic it would be such a great service... but when they inflate the cost it becomes extravagant for a senior on low SS. My $35 order adds up to $48. Don't mind tip and delivery. Then they add service fee and then finally they charged $60 with a little note I had to search for. Said I was charged $60 in error and it will be adjusted within 4 or 5 days... lousy way to do business... losing trust in Instacart... at a time like this... seniors like me are grateful for service but taking advantage is not good... I don't know if they car
