Most of the 33,8mm tapes we had digitized resulted in videos of such poor quality that they aren't even viewable. They are either too dark or have a line of static going through them. The tapes were 20-30 years old and had been stored in a closed box, so they shouldn't have been damaged. After viewing the first "examples" I called the company to let them know that the quality was unacceptable. I would have appreciated knowing in advance how poor the quality would be--before spending almost $500. On the positive side, several of the tapes resulted in the preservation of a precious memory.
My expectation from iMemories based upon their marketing was that my slides would be "freshened up" so that any dirt would be removed and the colors enriched in the final digitized product. This was definitely not the case. Some of the images even appeared upside down. The colors of the digitized images were washed out and even out of focus. A big disappointment. They did turn around the product quickly which was a plus. And it was easy enough to download all images to my computer without having to invest more money in iMemories.
Hi Jean, Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today regarding your order. We understand you want the best quality possible from your memories. Our team does dry clean all of the images to remove any loose dust or debris, scan them through filters and put the images through a color correction process to help make sure the colors look natural. We do not however do any digital enhancements, that would change the original images. That is outside of the digital conversion process we provide and better suited to a restoration service. We do want our customers to have the best experience possible with iMemories, so I have issued the refund that we discussed. We sincerely hope our efforts and service have helped to restore your faith in iMemories.
I was hesitant sending my old videos and tapes because of fear of damage them getting lost etc but service was outstanding! My beloved videos were converted and returned much quicker than expected and i was very pleased with the service and quality

So excited to be able to watch and share family tapes with my family and friends we grew up with. You can put them on your phone, laptop and TV. Brings back Great memories of people that have gone before us. Easy process, you pay for the box sent to you. The instructions are in there. You send your tapes and pictures in the box back to them (postage paid) They digitalize everything. It was great

Hi Rebecca, Thank you for your feedback. When we do the digital conversion we can often help reduce tracking (gray lines through the picture), audio issues and some other quality problems. We cannot make color corrections to tapes or add light where it did not exist originally. Our team does review, repair and make adjustment to ensure we get the best quaility capture based on the condition of the original tapes. This process can take a couple weeks to complete. Due to the amount of work involved there is not an option, with any company, to preview or know the quaility of the video on the tapes before the work is completed.
