The online portion of the identify verification was easy enough, but if you have any potential anomalies in your file (change of address, frozen credit report, etc...), then you have to talk to a video agent. The wait is over FIVE hours, and usually if you try to wait, after 2-3 hours, the site hangs on you and you have to start over. This is the worst system ever designed, and when it's people's unemployment money at stake, it's even more atrocious.

My EDD came to an end so I needed to renew my account, but to do so I had to go through ID.me to verify who I am. During the process of identifying myself with ID.me online by uploading all the information and copies of documents requested they rejected my application. So I started the process of reaching out to their support desk to resolve any issue.
That 'Support' desk interaction started 3 weeks ago and all I've had from them during that time is 3 emails (auto generated I would guess) telling me to 'rest assured' that they are dealing with the issue.
I've Googled a number for the Support Desk to try and speak to someone, but all you get is a recorded message saying to email them... which I'm having no joy with.
What they don't grasp is that without ID.me confirming who I am I can not apply for further income support which is my only form of income right now during what is a very difficult job search. So I'm at the point of not knowing which bill to not pay so I can buy food.
This is totally unacceptable. I don't know where to turn next.

I've been trying for 10 days straight. Best case was when I was done to 2.5 hours and minutes later back to four hours wait. You are pretty much responsible for many families going hungry, hope that accountability comes back and bites you you know where.

I try to set up a meeting with this system with trusted referee due to ca Edd i log it in 4 am need to wait 12 hours no respond day by day i try 5 am no working 6 am same no one take my video call, i use straight 12 days to connect id me referee finally i did it at today how lucky i am best time to call is 4; 30am then only need to wait less than a hour thank you my night mare finish. This app is a poor excuse for identity verifications. It automatically enters incorrect info and there is no way of correcting it. There is no phone for customer support. The so called support it offers is a joke. The worse app I have ever had the misfortune of installing. The authentication is a mixed up mess.

Not only Did I get a 5 hour waiting time, I waited the full 5 hours for a Referee to verify me, just to be told No Referees were available and to wait another 4 hours.
This is week 3 of waiting for Referees to get in contact with me and I've heard nothing.
The website is Garbage.

What's the point in having a verification system if doesn't work? Hour waits, sometimes day waits, only to have a Google number pop up that may or may not be them or it may be a scam, who knows! It's not like they identify themselves or anything. Pro-tip: if you're going to have an agency that verifies things for a governmental agency, make sure it works. Because ID.me does not. It's inefficient and practically useless. I've had my appeal held up by this "system" and for the length of time that it's taking to verify, I might as well walk to Sacramento. I'd get it done faster. I'd give it less stars but there's not an option.

After losing millions of our tax dollars to fraudulent unemployment claims, California's utterly incompetent EDD has changed their focus to screwing over millions of legitimate claimants in their hour of need. To facilitate this, they have contracted with ID.me, a company which appears to have been woefully unprepared to deal with the volume of ID verifications they would have to make. No doubt millions more tax dollars have been wasted on the ID.me contract. I wouldn't trust ID.me to verify that the sun rises in the east.

ID me claims to be available 24/7 for verification but every time I have tried them the wait is over five hours. I waited three hours and then the message repopulated saying the wait was again over five hours (!). If I cannot verify my identity, I (along with 1.4 million other people in California) will lose my unemployment benefits. Heads should roll in Sacramento. Because EDD left the system wide open for fraud from organized crime and Nigerian and Russian scammers, legitimate CA residents who are unemployed because of COVID are losing their homes (and their minds). All EDD had to do was eliminate the easy to defraud Bank of America EDD card and deposit unemployment checks directly into recipients' bank accounts. You have to go in person and show ID to open a bank account. This simple act would have eliminated 80 percent of the fraud or more. Because of their own mistakes, we CA taxpayers will be footing the bill for between 5 and 8 billion dollars, and those of us who are unemployed can't pay our rent or mortgage. With their customary incompetance, they froze virtually everyone's unemployment and force us to verify our identities through a private ID system that is unavailable.

It is very hard I mean very hard to get a hold to someone. I waited in front of my computer more than 4 days for more than 5+hours for the id.me video chat and it doesn't update you at all it just keeps saying "more than 5 hours". After waiting 5+hours it just doesn't make sense. I wish we could just talk on the phone with someone from edd and they ask us detailed questions that only we would know. I know they are trying there best with the Edd fraud activity and stuff but Id.me is a long process. I'm sure a lot of people are frustrated and can understand where I'm coming from.

I logged on to speak with an Id.me referee at 10:30 am it is now 9:15 pm and though an hour ago it said I was an hour away from speaking to someone, now it says I'm an hour and 45 minutes away. This has got to be the most atrocious website I've ever had to deal with. First two hours wasted getting kicked out of the queue for not being active on a support chat window that has no activity. The next 10 hours spent actively engaging with chat window every 10 minutes, no meals, no hygiene, now it's 10:20pm and I'm just now finding out that they closed at 3:30pm PST. My queue position is #1, and it's been #1 for the past 2 hours. The whole reason I'm trying to speak with support is because actual live agents are apparently non-existent, wait times say "more than 5 hours" despite literally leaving the window open an entire 24 hours, overnight on the computer. Lo and behold, you are logged out of the website after something like 30-60 minutes so waiting on that window is completely worthless. Basically, this website will never, EVER get around to helping you, if their automatic ID detection methods all fail. You are completely screwed. And yeah, of course this is the website the United States government uses, it doesn't get much more incompetent than this.

So I couldn't get through, wait time always above 5 hours - and finally I decided just to call EDD directly and let them know. I mentioned it was impossible, and I was frustrated because I had all my documents on hand and could show to my worker directly that very moment. He informed me he would make it possible to upload directly to the site. I waited 24 hrs, as directed and low and behold an upload button was in my UI account page, and I was able to upload. Just waiting to here from EDD now. Contact a case worker at DMV and let them know. You'll probably have trouble getting through, but easier that and more likely to get through if you just keep trying with the EDD number, as opposed to ID.ME.

NO. DO NOT USE THIS APP. Rather tell your EDD office that you'll verify in person. ID.ME clearly states that it WILL share your identity and information to third parties? WTF? There is no way to contact this company besides chat or email. Both forms of communication will not respond.
THEY TRICK YOU INTO A TAKING A "SELFIE" with your phone which gives back door spyware and facial recognition to a privately held company that shares your info. NO NO NO WAY
