The company's reputation is mixed, with notable strengths in product quality and delivery efficiency, as many customers express satisfaction with their purchases and the overall aesthetic appeal of items. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly in handling issues related to delivery options, billing disputes, and product defects. Customers frequently report difficulties in reaching support and receiving timely resolutions, leading to frustration. While some patrons appreciate the extensive product selection and smooth purchasing experience, the inconsistency in service responsiveness and problem resolution highlights areas for improvement in their customer service approach.

Bought two HomeSelect ceiling fans on the assurance from Houzz that I could buy longer downrods if I needed them, Turns out, that was a lie - nobody at HomeSelects, or Houzz or the many vendors (Lowes, Home Depot, etc) that they sent me to had any idea where to find this item. Finally had to by pipe and take it to a machine shop to have them fabricate. Rather than save money/time, this online purchase cost me more of both.
The quality of project leads, demographic and user sold in your initial conversation by the sales team is very different from the leads generated. After purchase, I was informed that Houzz trade marketing program is "not a lead generating service", it's only an add-on service to the exposure. Bottom Line- It's expensive and not as sold.
They say items in stock and can get in time for an event but then if you don't stalk their online for updates you'll find out it's a lie. I spoke with a rep to cancel who didn't cancel or put notes in and now am on hold forever with someone that repeats themselves constantly. Worst decision ever!
I made six purchases on Houzz while I was remodeling my kitchen. I returned three items. Each time I had to "open a case" in order to apply for a refund. I have received one refund, I am waiting to see about the other two. The user interface is really unfortunate, you have to prove that USPS or other service delivered your product to Houzz; I am glad I had the tracking number that proves Houzz received it. Also, the "case form" is not tied to their website, you have to enter their own tracking number into their own form. And the sad thing is that their design is so very good I don't want them to fail, yet they seem to be failing at least in this area. I would use the site to find great products, then buy the products elsewhere.
I will never shop with Houzz again. They canceled my order and never notified me. They claim to have called, but never sent an email and never left a voicemail. When I called days after the order was canceled, I was finally told about the cancellation. Then I tried to fix the issue and spent half an hour on the phone and was told someone would call me back. No one ever did. I called again and was told that there would be an "investigation" to determine why my order had been canceled, the same thing I was told when I called before. Then after being told for 20 minutes that nothing could be done (on my second call) I was transferred to a different department and was told that my bank had canceled the transaction. I call my bank and they see that no transaction was ever attempted, meaning that Houzz had canceled the transaction without ever attempting to fill the order. I call Houzz back with the bank on the line and only then is the order re-filled. It's days later and I still don't have the item I ordered. I ordered a bed. I need somewhere to sleep. I still don't have it. After all of that, I ask Houzz if they can give me free expedited shipping on the order so it will arrive when they said it would based on my original order. They say they can't do that. They instead offer me 10 percent off my next order. There will NEVER be a next order, so this is pretty useless.
I ordered 10 outdoor farmhouse sconces for the exterior of my house on 6-13-18. They should have arrived between June 16th and June 22nd. My credit card was charged and my order was stuck in "processing" mode for six days. I contacted customer service on 6-20-18, and was told that they should ship out the next day. On 6-21-18, I received an email in the late afternoon but the order was canceled as they were out of stock. Getting ahold of customer service was a nightmare, because their phone recorders were full and not accepting any more calls. A phone call from Houzz would have been more personable, rather than an email for their mistake. They could have even offered a discount on your next purchase to make up for their mismanagement. Essentially, I wasted a whole week with this company and will never purchase from them again. Customers have better options than Houzz for expedient shipping and good customer service.
I posted in gardenweb-forums since 2011. No problems whatsoever until Houzz took over. Houzz has a system glitch where anyone can delete others' comments, The owner of the comment can see his/her, but the public cannot. Houzz deletes any comments that has a link to Amazon. Houzz deleted my comments when I informed others of the truth.
I bought two recliner chairs from this company. I was not satisfied with them and told them that I would like to send them back to exchange for something else. They said that I would have to pay to ship them back in the original packaging. Only problem is that the delivery team unpacked the items in order to get it thru the door and they kept the original packaging, therefore now I cannot return items. So I am stuck with it. Houz would not recommend an alternative. BAD COMPANY
I had ordered a 24 x 24 poster print for in my kitchen. I found a really nice frame for it and about a week after purchasing it, I received an email stating that the item had been discontinued. I once again went to Houzz and found another poster print by the same artist and the same theme that I was looking for so ordered it. I never received a shipping confirmation and after close to two week, I went back to their site and looked at the order. It said I would have the merchandise between June 12 and June 17th. On the 19th I still had not received the poster so I wrote to them only to receive another email that that item had also been discontinued. I for one, will never try purchasing anything from Houzz again.
Do not buy from houzz they shipped me terribly damaged chairs. I've been trying to return them with no luck. They are giving me the run around, and now I have to go through the hassle of filling out forms with my bank for a charge back it will take months to get a refund. These were for an occasion that has since past. Terrible service.
At best Houzz management is incompentent, at worst these they are rossly negligent. E.g. Sonnet, a vendor that they allow to advertise on their site, posts an add with a price that is different fronm the price that appears on the order after you click "Add to my cart." When questioned their uncaring representative just said "Well, the vendors can change their prices. It is obvious Houzz.com has no interest in customer service or the integrity of their business. They are not actually producing anyting. They are simply providing a site for any company, regardless of performance, to advertise and making money off of the vendors sales.
They have no idea what they're doing! The customer service is the worst. I needed just one item delivered and when I had called the company because no one has called me to schedule a delivery, they first told me that the item was out of stock and they couldnt ship it any longer. They said that they would call me back with more information. Fast forward the next day, I had to call them and they wouldn't even pick up their phone calls for hours because they had a company meeting. How can they not take any calls for hours because of a meeting? That is so ridiculous! When they finally picked up, they told me that the carrier been trying to contact me via email and phone number since two weeks ago. I have recieved neither notifications! Then they told me to call the carrier number directly. So I did, except the carrier wouldn't also pick up their phone call for the entire day! I had to call back Houzz the next day, and then they gave me another carrier number and two separate tracking numbers to give to them. Turns out only one of the tracking number was valid. I had to call for four days straight just to straighten this entire mess out. They are almost impossible to reach at times as well. Most of them don't even seem to know what they're doing. I will never deal with this company again.
No customer service. What a joke this company is. I have wasted three week's time trying to order a bathtub. I asked for specs 3 times and 3 times was given the wrong specs. Customer service does not exist.
If I could give less I would. They sell items however, when you receive them and find what has been labeled as the same exact color you receive it and they do not match you are on the hook to return the items at your cost. We purchased bathroom items both marked with the color "espresso" when they came they don't even come close to matching "espresso". We express our need to return and they then inform us we must pay for return of $165.00. There is no information on the site stating colors may vary etc. Who would think that if you purchase items to place in a bathroom that this company expects you to keep it even when it doesn't come close to a match. BE VERY LEARY OF PURCHASING LARGE ITEMS FOR YOUR HOME ON THIS WEBSITE. Their customer service isn't even willing to work with you in regards to their policies being none existence in such cases.
Bought from a 3rd party seller on Houzz. Paid $50 plus $10 shipping for a pillow that looked great on the website but when I got it, was so cheap it wasn't even worth the shipping cost. I had to pay another $10 to return it. So $20 down the drain to find out that it was a total piece of crap. In addition, took 10 days for delivery. Let's see how long it takes to get my account credited. Could've been worse after seeing some of these reviews but I'm sticking with companies that offer better return policies and better products. My LAST time purchasing anything through the Houzz website.
LED Mirrors - I bought 2 mirrors and saw that they were being shipped to my billing address which was wrong, so I called them to tell them the correct address to ship it to. One day I get an email saying they had tried several times to call and email me regarding the change of address, and that if I didn't respond within 24 hrs, they would cancel the order.
Really? That was the first email I had received and I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. They did not leave any voicemails either. Plus, I had assumed that the phone call I made to them sorted everything out. I guess the line of communication got broken along the way.
After all of that, I emailed them back and they verified the new address etc. And guess what - the mirrors were still shipped to the wrong address.
Bed Frame - I ordered a Cali King-sized bed frame and the delivery dates kept changing on the tracking service. One day, I got a call from Houzz saying that the bed frame was backlogged and that it would arrive even later. I told them that was fine. Then they emailed me again to tell me that. That was fine too.
Yesterday, I looked at the tracking info and it said the bed frame was to arrive later that day! I emailed them and they said oh don't worry about it if the carrier hasn't called to confirm a delivery time, then to disregard the tracking information. So what's the use of the tracking information?
Also, in her email, she said it would be curbside delivery. CURBSIDE? I live on the 2nd floor and they will be dropping it off for me to lug a Cali King sized bed frame by myself and assemble it by myself. When I voiced that, the lovely, ditzy customer service rep asked: " Do you have family or friends to help you?"
Yes, Houzz, that's akin to buying a car and being told later that I would only be sent the parts to assemble the car myself.
Ridiculous company. And we wonder why Amazon is as successful as it is.
I order this NYRangers sports couch cause it looked good in their picture. At the bottom of the couch it is stitched in their New York Rangers. In the couch that was sent to me it is a little patch sewn in there that says New York Rangers. That is a picture of my couch the sent me and this link will be the couch that is used for pictures on their website
You can Google New York Ranger Couch and see a picture of what I thought I was getting.
The delivery men told us also we should have up graded our service for them to bring it in our house. I should have read these reviews before I purchased here. My bad but I got it now!
Basically I lost 3k joining Houzz, they promise me so many goodies for my online campaign and after signing me on a contract not only I never got anything from their platform I also had difficulty shutting it down, Im a small business and what they do is awful, I wish they bankrupt.
Awful company with awful service and they are very pushy and dont believe anything they promise you, its all false, the reviews they told me I can ask anyone to leave them if I did a job for him or not, just a shady company with the most pushy sales people I ever seen, horrible experience, do not join houzz, trust me they just want your money.
If you purchase an item, be sure you open immediately. I purchased a bird playpen from Houzz. It arrived in January 2018, My house had sustained horrible flooding during Hurricane Irma. The whole downstairs had to be gutted. All of the items in the garages and sheds were destroyed. Our renovation was supposed to be completed in January, however, due to delays associated with the flooding, the renovations were not completed until April. We are still trying to get the furniture, blinds, drapes etc. installed. We put together the playpen, and found it arrived damaged. We contacted Houzz. It took them a week to get back to us, and we had to send them pictures of the damage, and explain why it took so long to open the item. We had to send multiple emails to two separate divisions advising why we took so long to open the item and put it to together.
Houzz, after a week and a half, advised that due to the time it took to open the defective product, they could only refund 20% of the original paid for item, $27.19.
So now, because of them sending a damaged item, Houzz will only refund 20% of the original purchase price, or $27.19.
Buyer beware. These large companies don't care about your natural disaster...
I was issued a tracking number over a week ago. No one knows where my product is. They've already charged my credit card. Everyone is very nice when you call customer service, but I feel like this is a huge scam. I have tradespeople waiting to install my vanity and no idea when it's coming in. It's getting more costly everyday, not to mention all my time checking up with them. Why is it so hard to deliver a product you order. Amazon does it? I will never order from them again.
Answer: Good question Maggie. I don't think there is. I think this site is just there to help their vendor and not assist consumers in making informed decisions. I found had a contractor who had defrauded us and changed his business name on Houzz. I posted a review on his profile notifying the public of what he had done to us, and Houzz did not publish the review. I joined Sitejabber to warn the public about Houzz.
Answer: I began as a Pro on Houzz and spent $2000 on Advertising. This was supposedly for a year of top exposure. No one purchased, the couple of calls I received were people wanting to USE my service for ideas. I have since discontinued complimentary initial appointments. These people are the biggest scammers in the world! I'm still one of the Pros just to see if anything bites but I noticed they go into vendors photos and try to find similar product then they sell their products. Great way to sway your client and to steal customers!
Answer: Go straight to the top at Houzz. Ms. Adi Tatarko, CEO, Alon Cohen, Pres. If tha doesn't work, I suggest you file complaint with the Consumer Affairs Division of the California Attorney General's Office.
Answer: The Pros, at least at the beginning, were not in competition with this company (Houzz). They convinced the "Designer" world that the were strictly collecting ideas for the public and to help improve the vendors chances of being hired. Those reviews on the Pros are about the Pros, they come from their clients. About 2-3 years ago, Houzz began selling out from under all the vendors! They are SO low they have gone into the photos of the pros, look for a product they have that might be similar to something they sell and lead them away from the pro. The 1-2 stars you see here are the reviews for "Houzz" and their service but the reviews under a Pro are for that Pro. Don't be fooled... If you want the job done right, call the Pro! Listen to these reviews of Houzz and you won't get burned. Two different animals completely!
Answer: Steer clear. The advertising doesn't work, and although they originally started up as a company that would work alongside the vendors, they are now selling out from under most of them, especially the interiors decorators! They are SO low they have actually tagged products inside some of the photos of interior designers and tabbed out similar products to stay the customer away from the Pro and to purchase through them directly!
Answer: Do yourself a huge favor and find it somewhere else. Houzz contracts with third party sellers and their freight companies, they're just a middle man. What a nightmare this has been.
