I made a mistake and checked 8:30a instead of pm. Tried to change it 10 days in advancee not changing day or anything. Customer service is all by text. Arnie said they dont even have the abililty to change. If you pay $1,200 for 8 days, you should expect a little more. Dont do it.
Do not do business with HotWire! I rented a car thru them. The rental agency failed to pick us up from the airport. When I tried to contact the rental agency the phone was disconnecting. After several phone calls to Hotwire, no resolution, no refund. ($1,000) Hotwire stated a no refund policy. Not EVEN for services NOT received. I followed the directions as stated on my reservations from HotWire. Hotwire should be responsible for their services, They do not stand behind or value their customers!
I would rate them all "0" if that was an option!
I bought plane tickets and a car rental in July to travel to Florida to see my daughter. Covid Delta Variance has spread quickly since then. My family there was sick. I contacted hotwire.com to refund my car rental. I called 3 days prior to travel date. Hotwire refused to refund or give a credit to me. I lost $600. I will never, never use hotwire again. It is sick that they want to take your money and not provide a service. Their customer service is horrible. They would only communicate through text. I would not rate them at all but had to to write a review. Please, do not use hotwire. I would never treat someone like that if I had a business.
I prepaid a rental using Hotwire but I had a flight delay and the rental place was closed. Hotwire did nothing about it, I had to use ride shares the entire trip at a further cost. Then they kept my money even though they never delivered the car.
Hotwire sucks.
I added a promo CODE to my reservation to get 10% discount of the hot rate. My promo code was applied and $51 was subtracted. It asks that I must agree with the total amount due less $51 USD before I click to book the reservation. I did agree and click to book it. I received an email confirmation for my hotel stay but HOTWIRE did not apply my promo code and I was charged more which I did not agree. I called Customer Service and she was rude. She kept on talking over me and asking me where did I get the Promo Code because HOTWIRE no longer used that code. I took a screenshot that included my discount and told her that I can send it to her, but she said she cannot receive screenshots. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor. She told me that I have to call back in the morning. However, she told me that I can chat with an agent and I can send the screenshot there.
The chat agent was on and he told me to give him 10 mins to check my reservation. It took him almost 20 minutes to come back to tell me that he could not fix it. I was supposed to check in with my son, but it was already 2 am. The chat agent told me he could offer Hotwire Credit for $51. I declined and asked him to modify my reservation for Monday because the hotel could not accommodate me this late. I told him that since he could not help me that I will call back in the morning. My son and I were in the hotel parking lot all night. I received an email from Hotwire confirming my refund for $645 and that it would take about 5-7 business days for me to receive it. That was all the money I had to pay for my son and I to stay since we have been staying in my car. I was furious and spoke to 2 supervisors and they were not helpful at all and told me that is the best that they could do to give me a full refund. I asked her what kind of business does Hotwire operated by taking customers money without customer's agreement without providing any goods or services and expected the customer to wait for a refund. I asked both supervisors if it would be ok with them if they had to stay in the car in this very hot weather with their loved one and that there was nothing that the merchant can do to expedite the refund or release the pending charges so my bank can make my funds available so I can book another hotel to live in. Supervisor said she can offer me $40 Hotwire Credit and I refused and hung up on her.
Awful service. I had an agent tell me that my flight was changeable. I talked to my boss and told her that I would change it. I call back, and they will not change my flight. Now I am stuck with a flight that I can't use. The service team was not helpful at all.
The employees closed earlier than the website stated and left the building. We showed up as they were walking out. We were told to come back Monday. They still charged us for the full rental and we never received the vehicle.
From the airport I reserved a pay-in-advance (the only way Hotwire operates) automobile to pick up at my destination. When my flight was canceled only a short time later, I immediately phoned Hotwire. They kept my money but refused to use it toward another car or to refund, or to make good in any way. Furthermore, when the $1100. 00 appeared on my American Express card, Customer Service refused to help, stating that the "merchant" would not let them open a dispute case against them. (Who's in charge here?) Beware of this and Priceline, with whom the customer service rep said Hotwire was associated. I can only hope that someone decides to file a class action suit against allowing companies to get away with such unethical practices.
DON'T BOOK WITH HOTWIRE! IF YOUR PLANS CHANGE, THEY WON'T GIVE YOU A DIME BACK! EVEN IF ITS MONTHS IN ADVANCE. THEY SUCK!
On 6/16/2021 I booked a car with Hotwire, Hotwire Itinerary # ******* for $677.15. My credit card was charged $552.48 that day. The remaining $124.67 was due at pick up.
On 6/22/2021 I had to wait 3 hours at Tampa International Airport to pick up a car from Thrifty Car Rental. I was not charged $124.67 at car pick up as indicated on the Reservation Details.
I did not request any extra features for the rental.
I returned the car on 7/4/2021 and was told that I will get a statement from Thrifty via email later.
I received a statement from Thrifty showing a total charge of $188.80 and my credit card was charged that amount. No explanation was given for the extra charges of $64.13! I contacted Hotwire customer service and was told to contact Thrifty to resolve the problem. I called Thrifty many times and was put on hold three times more than 30 minutes without talking to someone!
I booked the car with Hotwire and Hotwire should be responsible for the bad actions of the rental car companies that they use!
Terrible. My mom booked with them for my wedding. Changed her flights, to 8 minute layover,, then no option for her to change her flight booking online. She had to call. Almost 2 hours on hold and they hung up on her. Still no response from any of them other than my department doesn't handle this. So it will be at least 4 hours wasted on hold before we can get things straightened and that's if we get someone who can help and don't get hung up on again.
I purchased a reservation with Hotwire and failed to receive the confirmation email because it went to my spam box. When I didn't receive confirmation, I rebooked the same reservation, resulting in a duplicate. When I called to explain what happened, they failed to cancel one of them, even though they were the exact same reservation and as one person, I can only drive one car at a time (they are also non-transferable to another person). I spent over 2 hours on phone and chat with their agents to no avail. I will never use this service again. Beware as ALL bookings are completely non refundable!
Hi, I'm writing this review about Hotwire, a company used to find hotel, auto and travel reservations.
I rented a vehicle through them and was not able to pick up the vehicle. I contacted them and asked if I could get a refund for not receiving the vehicle but was denied. I understand they have company policies but did not want to give a partial refund or a rain check style of vehicle reservation. I do not approve of anyone using this service.
One of the worse companies I ever dealt with. My wife and I were on an out west trip for 10 days. We booked a hotel in the Denver International area through hotwire and they canceled our reservation a little over midway through our vacation. I received an cancelation email 3 days before we were supposed to stay at our hotel that we booked through them. We booked this months in advance so there should be no excuse as to why it was canceled. Thankfully, I checked my email because they didn't even have the courtesy to call me. I talked to one of their representatives who was very unhelpful. They said they could give another hotel, but they wouldn't be able to tell me what hotel or if the hotel that had a shuttle. We specifically booked this hotel because they had a shuttle that left out at 4 a.m. and our flight left at 6 a.m. The other option was to get a refund, which 20 days later we still have not received our refund. Also the representative flat out lied and said the reason why it was canceled was because the hotel we booked recently closed completely down. We called the hotel and asked the receptionist if they were still open. We also told her what happened and she chuckled and laughed and said that they were still open and never even shut down through the pandemic. I highly do not recommend using hotwire.
Got to our suppose to be "oceanfront destination" one night cost of $350.00/ night first of all they had no info on us coming. Had to spend 2 hours on the phone w/ Hotwire for them to tell me I was in the wrong location, when I wasn't. Then finally they gave us what looked like to be a left over condo without ocean view. It was dirty, sheets felt like we were sleeping on sand paper and they had holes in them. Spent hours trying to get compensated through the live app then called for them to tell me they would put $30.00 towards my next trip with them as if I'd ever book with them again. They even told me ocean view was what they would normally classify the condo we had because I guess the resort was ocean view although we would have to drive at least 5 minutes to get there! Don't use Hotwire! Such a lying site and they continue to get away with this crappy service!
Hot deal with free parking was $109. Price paid was $150 for the room PLUS an undisclosed 'gate fee' of $20 for each of 2 vehicles to access the free parking. Total cost $190. I feel like I have been robbed
I booked a car rental for 9 days recently for my Denver business trip. I had to return home 3 days early for a family emergency. I returned the car to Sixt expecting a refund for the 3 unused days. The Sixt car rental lady informed me if I booked through a third party (hotwire, etc) they wont issue a refund for any unused days. I would have received a refund had I booked through the rental company directly. What a bad business practice on Hotwires part. They pocketed the money, ran and never looked back. Seems unreasonable to me that they wouldnt refund any amount unused for the time booked. No skin off their backs. Car is back in the fleet for future rentals. And hotwire is still compensated in full for time used with rental car. An absolute scam if I ever saw one. A small detail they cleverly conceal until after the fact. I deleted the app from phone. I have used them several times over the years but I wont any longer. There are better options available for those of us that have to change plans on occasion for emergency's, etc.
Terrible, dishonest company! Should not be able to stay in Business! Ordered a car for the week to help my elderly mom move. I filled in the times my airplane arrived which was 10:30 PM they chose a company far away from the airport and closed at 7:00pm. Hotwire would not refund my money and there were no cars available anywhere. Had to call UBER. The rental car company said Hotwire has done that to many of their customers so they don't even get paid. Hotwire keeps the money!
They are not reliable of something goes wrong. Terrible customer service. They left me stranded in the middle of the night. I ended up having to walk far to another hotel and pay triple out of pocket since Hotwire did not help.
I called Hotwire customer service to first be told that the code did not exist even tough I had it in my inbox. Second, I was told that the email did not come from Hotwire. I repeated again that I could email this to them to prove that it indeed was from them.
I asked to speak to a manager to be told by the employee that the end result would be the same, just to find out that she was right. The manager did validate the promo code just to tell me that this could be applied to my next booking. Thanks but no thanks... customer service was very lacking and sad to say I will be looking some place else the next time around.
Answer: In my case it was only when I convinced a Hotwire customer service representative that I needed to speak to her supervisor that I got any "service."
Answer: Phone the hotel to confirm your booking at the rate you paid. Make sure you get the name of the person you talk to and maybe have him send you an E Mail confirmation.
Answer: They can't. For me it's $1400 (more characters to post answer)
Answer: Pay for it then you'll know. Don't book through these people. Read the reviews. I'm still upset with myself for paying lots more than I could have gotten it directly from the Hotel itself. There is no customer service.
Answer: No. I didn't see Richards Hotel on the list. Having said that I've never been to Richard's Hotel it could be great. They just don't show it as one of them. Be kind to yourself read the reviews and stay away
Answer: Never share your credit card info... they double bill you
