So I booked a hotwire deal in Vegas... it want cheap but i wantrd to ensure i had a room. The hotel's pool and outdoor area was closed for renovations... Hot wire said that if I had looked at the terms and conditions that I would have found out that there could be possible amenities closed... so they sell u a cheap hotel which I could have got half price at full price... knowing that its being refurbished.
A cheap hotel with substandard service and amenities is OK if you pay a low rate... I didn't!
No offer of a reimebursment etc
I won't use hotwire again and will let everyone I come across about my expiericnec with the company.
I feel ripped off... it really spoiled my holiday: 0(
In the last 3 years Hotwire has been a reliable source for travel. I have been able to book air fare from Seattle to Florida airports from 240.00 to 260.00 without fail. I have never had to call customer care for any reason. This is a truly hassle free company!
I booked a SPECIFIC hotel with Hotwire under the "Hotels" tab (not the "Hot Rate Hotels" tab). After I paid, Hotwire switched the reservation to a different hotel. I immediately called customer service, and they refused to switch the reservation to the original hotel I specified or cancel the reservation.
With Hotwire, THEIR technical glitches become YOUR problem.
Bait and switching M F'ers! So tired of going for something only for it to not exist and have junk fake $#*! deals crammed in my face at 3x the cost! 100% blocked website!
I am having a very difficult time with this company! Although they could not find my address, phone number, or reservation number, they had no problem charging me on my credit card. Strangely, they had that information. I wanted to cancel my car rental because the phone number they gave me did not respond, after calling it several times. It was through Alamo. I will never go through this company again!
I received a quote for a car rental pick up at the airport in Portugal this summer, after waiting 2 hrs in line and finally getting to the counter and showing my reservation I was told that not only had Alamo changed companies but I would have to pay double the price to rent the vehicle... Wth?
What do you do at this point? Wait another 2 hrs to get the same price in another line while you are on holidays?
So I bit the bullet and paid double the price and swore I would handle things when I got home, I am still fighting with Hotwire even though I have an email stating that they screwed up and I will get my refund sent to me by mail...
This has been going on since Aug 23rd and I have sent a complaint also to the BBB hoping to get some sort of resolution...
I have had to call Hotwire at least 30 times now and each time it's the same thing, once you give them your itinerary number they read off a prefab sheet in front of them to begin the the process or if you get cheesed off at them for having to hear the same b-$#*! over and over a again theft put you on hold forever and then mysteriously the call gets disconnected!
Brutal brutal outfit to deal with... I will never deal with these people again and I suggest all that are reading don't either...
It's the principle and I won't give up until I am refunded what is owed to me!
Stay Away from Hotwire, they are in the business of fraud. Don't bother trying their customer service for it is in the philipines, and the people just read off a pre-written statement. When looking at their star ratings you need to automatically take off one star in order to compare to other website ratings. The price structure they use is based on the highest price that chain charges, it is not what that hotel actually charges, so your hot rate deal of 40% to 50% off or more is actually a savings of usually 5 dollars. So for possibly a $5 savings you can't change the reservation, get a refund, know anything about the hotel or property. Higher end hotels typically give you the cheapest room they have, and give you a pull out sofa to accommodate more than two guests. The chances you take with hotwire will ruin your trip and steal your money, just stay away.
Hotwire is terrible! I booked the car in the airport, came to rent and the renting agency says "you have to pay extra insurance fee and we dont know why Hotwire did not inform or added this into the booking"! Had to cancel the booking! Terrible terrible experience! Definitely not recommend to book, since you never know what can happen!
Be careful Guys! This is really stupid. They charged us 200$ (tax recovery and fee) for suggesting a poor quality hotel.
I used Hotwire after a friend suggested them for a reasonably priced hotel last spring. I booked it and within 24 hrs realized I was on the list to stay with extended family at the main wedding hotel, the (amazing) Four Seasons. I called to cancel my booking with Hotwire and not only were they incredibly rude about it they informed me they do not offer refunds of any kind, EVERR.
Not even a credit to use on another trip, nope, NOTHING, $300-GONE.
Then to add insult to injury, they will not stop emailing me and I "unsubscribe" repeatedly. I will never use them again so they need to say goodbye.
They funny part is that the service they originally provided was not very good at all, a mediocre room in a mediocre hotel in a questionable area and not a great rate. Ridiculous.
Surprising that they are still in business. We would all be better off calling the hotels direct or even Travelocity has better rates than the slimy Hotwire.
BUYERS BEWARE!
For the last week at least 15 times I have been trying to find tickets out of town I find a great price, select it, get all the way to the checkout, only for the page to take 5+ minutes to load and I go to a screen that says the "deal" is no longer available, but here, try 5 other things that are twice the price... Screw this place, I would rather hitch-hike than deal with this trash site.
Rented a car to Hertz through Hotwire, with a seemingly great price. Only, when I picked up the car, I was charged a second round of tax, making it definitely not the cheapest rate! To be fair, there was some fine print that said taxes weren't included, but right beside that was a breakout of my online reservation cost--including tax. Apparentlly, there's more taxes yet... basically, you get double taxed.
Worthless. Will never use or recommend Hotwire again.
I recently booked a hotel in california for 3 nights and the booking was non refundable. But i had some family emergency and i had to pre cheked out from my hotel. I called up hotwire for a refund help and the hotwire representative did process the refund upon request. It was a releif and ease for me. Also, i find good car/hotel deals via hotwire at lower prices.
I would happily recommend it to my friends.
I made a reservation and found a cheaper price $52.00 cheaper the next day. Was told I didn't reach out soon enough to get a refund. Don't make a low price guarantee if you are not going to try guarantee it.
Pros:
-if you need to penny pinch its ok
-easy to use site
Cons:
-hotel location can be far away from location you want to be. Really examine the location area they give. Usually cheapest hotels are far from where you want to be close to.
-special services given with normal room may not be offered with Hotline ex) free breakfast, shuttle service, etc. So check what you want in a hotel
Just like another reviewer, I too booked a hotel through hotwire.com. But they switched the dates on me, my email confirmation had dates that I did NOT select. After 2 hours on the phone attempting to get this straightened out, I got nowhere. I was hung up on twice, the last time i was put on a silent hold for over 30 minutes. Nothing was resolved.
Booked motel online using Hotwire and arrival date comes up different than the date you select. They will not change or cancel the reservation. Also you cannot review the info before paying as is customary with legitimate sites, before paying.
So here is how it works, you select the arrival date you want but but when you pay another date comes up. It's a scam folks. SCAM. SCAM.
Customer service is not legimate either. It's a complete waste of time and money
SCAM.
Hotwire is agency for car rental. If you do reservation for the car rental, Hotwire will send you to Hertz Rental Car Company and if the reservation car not there you has to change or upgrade the other car. Hertz charge you full and hotwire will not refund your money. I called Hotwire for this case. They promised to refund my money after I faxed the bill of Hertz and later they argued that I upgraded the car and they will not refund money. That is SCAMMER.
That is Hot wire's email.

I've used hotwire a bunch of times--the annoying thing about booking a hotel with them is that it takes a long time for the reservation desk to locate your reservation everytime. I had an issue with a booking once, and the customer service rep was rude, nasty, and hung up on me. I called back, waited on hold, and the $#*! picked up the phone and hung up on me again. I'm speechless by how unprofessional it was; I'm never using hotwire again.
Answer: In my case it was only when I convinced a Hotwire customer service representative that I needed to speak to her supervisor that I got any "service."
Answer: Phone the hotel to confirm your booking at the rate you paid. Make sure you get the name of the person you talk to and maybe have him send you an E Mail confirmation.
Answer: They can't. For me it's $1400 (more characters to post answer)
Answer: Pay for it then you'll know. Don't book through these people. Read the reviews. I'm still upset with myself for paying lots more than I could have gotten it directly from the Hotel itself. There is no customer service.
Answer: No. I didn't see Richards Hotel on the list. Having said that I've never been to Richard's Hotel it could be great. They just don't show it as one of them. Be kind to yourself read the reviews and stay away
Answer: Never share your credit card info... they double bill you
