HostGator (866-96-GATOR) is a leading provider of web hosting, VPS and dedicated servers. Discover why over 9,000,000 websites trust us for their hosting needs.
Overall, the company has established a reputation for providing reliable services and competitive pricing, with many customers noting ease of use and effective technical support. However, concerns regarding customer service persist, particularly related to inconsistent support experiences and delays in response times. While some users have had positive interactions with knowledgeable representatives, others reported frustrations with unresolved issues and inadequate communication. Despite these challenges, a significant number of long-term customers express satisfaction and loyalty, indicating that while improvements in customer service are needed, the core offerings are generally well-regarded.

This company displays an alarming lack of concern for its customers. I've reached out to their support team seven times in the past four days, and the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. What's even more infuriating is that they made a fraudulent charge of $700 on my son's credit card to renew my hosting for three years, despite him only using my account for a $15 domain purchase. This has left my son dealing with a $700 discrepancy in his account, and HostGator has shown no willingness to refund the money, even though our billing isn't due until next month.
To make matters worse, as we make our exit from this company to migrate to A2 Hosting, we encountered yet another roadblock. We need to create a backup of our cPanel to facilitate the move, and we have unlimited data with only 15GB of data used for our sites. However, we discovered an absurd limitation that restricts us from creating a backup over 10GB, which is both baffling and frustrating. This limitation requires us to submit a support ticket, and we were informed that it would take 24 hours to resolve. It has now been over three days, and each time we reach out to support, they keep extending the timeline by another 24 hours.
Incredibly, when we contacted them today, they claimed that the ticket had only been created this morning. This situation has effectively locked us out of creating a backup, seemingly as a tactic to prevent us from leaving. It's clear that this company's practices are questionable at best.
I strongly encourage anyone considering HostGator to do their own research and read genuine reviews on platforms like Reddit, where you'll find real, unfiltered accounts of users' experiences, rather than relying on potentially biased or fake positive reviews.
Awesome, just start again unlimited storage plan for new buyers.
Nothing but a run around from level one support. Never transfer to suppervisors each one just left me on hold. 45-60 minutes per call. 7 phone calls and still have not spoken to a single supervisor or had my issue resolved. Absolutely disgusted.
The team was exceptionally supportive, professional, and timely. They never said "NO" to any of my requests, even when they were very challenging. I would highly recommend your services to everyone!
Their are a lot of problems in your servers please fix them
Been trying to move temporary site to actual WP hosting on Hostgator. Have already spent hours with tech support with no resolution so far... About to try to contact support again. Very disappointing
Good price and all the things i was looking for in a host.
I waited over 10 days for my refund and still waiting. Customer service knows they still have the funds but didn't say it didn't go through until I followed up 3x.
My site went down. I lost 8 hours of service and wa snot compensated.
I chose it based on a recommendation from my assistant and it's high ranking overall online. I have serious regrets.
It helps me update my Website & gives everything I need at my finger tips!
After hosting my website for four years on Hostgator, I discovered today that it had been infected with malware. I was told by customer service at hosthator that my web hosting account wasn't secure and that I would have to pay more if I wanted it to be secure. In the meantime, I would have to contract with a third party to have my website cleaned, then go back to hostgator to have my site restored. According to customer service, Hostgator doesn't have access to the files they host. That's why a third party must be paid.
Go with godaddy. They suck, too, but not as bad as hostgator.
To host my website and get the free email accounts they offer is the main reason I chose HostGator for my webhosting. It is very disappointing that they discontinued Gator.com and we are forced to either purchase a third party or use WordPress which is the most unfriendly application I have used in my 40 year experience

I am in IT, and I have been doing this over 20 years, I like Hostgator, but its not user friendly. I had used Godaddy in the past, and found it much easier to use, perhaps I should of had the system build my website for me.
I think they are great, always quick with getting back with me for support
Idk, been relying in HostGator for like 12 years now. Been recommending HG to all my clients during this time with no worries regarding the services provided. Thank you!
It is highly rated as one of the best. I cannot afford to take risks with my hosting, plus the 24/7 support is important.
Looking and so far... by far your team is the best, I live in Louisiana, and it's hard to understand the foreigners, they talk different from us, but everyone is fabulous
Answer: SITEGROUND FIXED IN HOURS WHAT HOSTGATOR DID NOT OR COULD NOT FIX IN 9 DAYS
Answer: The chat will get you to someone but they will never know what to do to help you. Courteous but useless.
