The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I had a problem with the work being done, called home advisor problem solved
Professional and timely service. Would recommend to anyone needing home improvement work.
Attic insulation completed in very short time frame and at less than expected cost. Home Advisor supplied us with 3 good choices & reviews.
What a nightmare!
I tried to book land mowing last week with HomeAdvisor. I called and was quoted $93 which I accepted (and give my CC numbers).
I never received a confirmation email and the name of the contractor so I called back. Long story short, after explaining the situation to five different persons, they all confirmed that the booking didn't get through. At that point my CC has been weirdly charged for $125, then reimbursed. (HomeAdvisor is suppose to charge only until after the booking is completed.
Fastforward, one week later my CC is charged AGAIN! For $125! $30 more than quoted. And this nice contractor arrived totally unannounced. I have no idea who he is. I called again HomeAdvisor. After again a long wait, this time someone find the booking and say it is recurrent (which we were never interested in).
A nightmare. After many hours lost over the phone over the two weeks, we apparently are getting the money back (we have to wait 3-6 days to confirm) and they say that they canceled everything. I am just hoping the HomeAdvisor is finally over. I felt really bad for the contractor that had to go, they canceled the job last minute as he was already there so he won't be paid. HomeAdvisor seem to be all the way bad, with the customers and with the contractor. Run away from them as far as you can would be my advice.
Quick & painless... the tech even cleaned up his mess from the wall.
Took on job with Southwest Tree Care and was quoted a price that I felt was too high and Adrian worked with me and split the higher price with me and I hired him and his crew for tree trimming. Very Happy customer here!
I was trying to confirm the credentials listed by Home advisor with regard to and Remodeling contractor. Such as Licensing,. Insurance, and business registration. None of them can be confimed by Home advisor.
A request was made via HomeAdvisor for commercial window tinting in our area. CGT, Inc. of Union, NJ was interviewed and ultimately hired for the job. Home Advisor communicates were adequate and contributed to the process.
I realize that Home Advisor has little control over their contractors once a project has been assigned. However, we received recommendations for three plumbing firms to complete our project. One failed to make the appointment scheduled for the quote. One failed to provide a copy of the quote after multiple requests. The third struggled with their schedule but completed the project.
I was a bit impatient with the manufacturer's delays, but thoroughly impressed by the crew that did the installation.
Outstanding workmanship and well trained crew. Work was done in a timely manner.
We were given several options of repair people which was great. Once we picked the company to go with, I found the continual recommendations to be annoying and unnecessary. Also, when I picked a company I accidently pressed the "book the work" button - I meant to say I was interested, not book. I couldn't find any way to change my error. It ended up working out ok as I did go with that company, but it would have been helpful to be able to go back and change my error.
Sean from Blue line painting responded the same day.
Surprised how quickly it worked in about 4 hours I had my 5 bids set up for appointments for the next week, and this was on a Sunday. Chose the contractor the following Friday they did the install 1 week later.
Great experience. I found a great electrician. The young person doing the job had knowledge, great communication skills and I for sure will use him again.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
