HiBid works pretty flawless and is a useful auction service, but I have problems viewing items in catalog mode. As an auctioneer has live auctions taking place the screen changes to half grid pattern and half up coming stacked line format. If the auction has say 14 pages of auction items to look at it is hard to maneuver the catalog in line format or general catalog format. If I want to look at say item #267 on page 10 I can scroll the live catalog or go to general catalog setting, but after looking at details about item #267 I then cannot return to general catalog page 10; it returns to live bid page. Hard to browse at this point. Too many steps to get to general secondary pages to browse.

Signing up, registering for each auction, so easy! The bidding was fun, everything is so self explanatory. But, when the items are purchased, there's no tab on the site to assure you paid for/and arranged pick-up or shipment of all your purchases

I bid and won a truck from Morris Auctioneers. Someone called me an hour after I won the auction to tell me I hadn't actually won the truck. They said they forgot to put a reserve on the truck. I thought this seemed unfair but I finally came to terms with it and the auctioneer offered to sell me the truck out right the next day for $4400. I agreed to buy and arranged to get it the next morning. She then told me she could not sell it to me at all now because it was against the law. Hibid allows these sellers to take advantage of the shoppers. There is no recourse. I think Hibid could atleast ban them from their site after treating people like this. It is very unprofessional.

The details of how the bidding is done, the post-auction follow up and the shipping information could not be clearer. I will admit, I had never done this before HiBid and was impressed by how it went. Of course, the involvement by the auction house I bought from was a HUGE component.

However, very frustrating when bidding at Commercial Liquidators, Mt Holly. The site constantly looses connection often. It was great until the last 2 months. Back space button doesn't take you back. Re generates to home auction page constantly. You loose your spot, taking away from possible buying. Always downloading causing delays in bidding. When you win a bid, you saw you won. Now reads May Have Won? Surplus liquidators in Willow Grove works great. Pa. Auction in East Earl works great.? Only sites I've dealt with so far.

Overall the experience has been good. I just wish there were some failsafe measures that can be placed to prevent auction houses from inflating cost to the max number bid. In a very few auctions (mainly the larger houses) I have noticed that they employ people to increase bid numbers to maximum number bid by bidding up to, but never over the highest number bid on random items. I have literally watched while the items I have bid on are artificially increased to one increment under my highest bid, always the highest dollar items. I'm not sure whether this is done by human or programmed bot, but it is definitely happening. I have no idea how you can battle this plague as it is almost completely random (except for random high bid items) and probably impossible to prove whether it is a legitimate bid or auctioneer subterfuge. I for the most part have identified a few offenders and reached out to them directly. They of course have denied any wrong doing and even momentarily haulted the practice where my bids were concerned only to resume them shortly after. Again, making it almost impossible to prove. All they have to do is follow the bid increment increase until it jumps an increment, thus telling them what the highest bid is and stop bidding... i.e. $2, 4, 6,...10... stop bidding at $6 and you have pushed the bid to the max number without going over. This entirely defeats the purpose of an honest auction not to mention it's massively unethical. For now all I can do is identify when I've been cheated and never use the offending auction house again. It would be great if HiBid could help in fighting these thieves directly.

Answer: Licensed auctioneer here- auction law is that if you give notice that you need to retract your bid before the hammer falls (or the auction ends online) that the auctioneer is required to retract the bid. Actual law also dictates that bidding must start over at opening bid, not the next highest bid.
