I think this show is good.the couple is fixing up homes and getting people to move back... America needs more people caring about where they live. Not a fan of the art in the beginning of each home showing... but I like the couple, and the town. I would love to move there.
We watched hometown for the first time tonight and all I can say is this is the worst show I have ever seen on HGTV! Everything about it is horrible. From their designs, their personalities, their bad acting, and awkward chemistry. This show is boring, and pathetic. It literally seems like you yanked people off the street with no talent. Do yourself a favor, and listen to what your viewers think.
What made the network execs think this was a good idea. Erin's voice just grates and I am tired of seeing them paw each other. I watched two shows and that does it for me. I was surprised to see how many reviews say similar things. This one is a loser.
This couple is as charming as talented. I love it. Home Town is very interesting. It's wonderful. It's happy, beautiful and just as good as fixer upper, happy to see good bones coming back too. Please don't cancel home town, it's a breath of fresh air. These two rock. Watching from Iowa
This is just a copy cat version of fixer upper. I hate to give a bad review but this is the absolute worse show on tv.
I think this couple tries way to hard to be like Fixer Upper and I agree no talent. I'm not caring for their chemistry either pretty boring. Not sure why they were able to even get a show on this network but I know you guys can do better!
Thank you for allowing this couple to show how to restore a home without a huge expense. I appreciate the small town feel of the show. I really don't like all the commercial type renovation shows. I also enjoy their personalities & talent!
Watch all of the HGTV shows but the usual canned plastic gets old. Home Town is a breath of fresh air!
Don't like new series fop or flop vegas. They look to much like Christina & Trek. Why can't we still see the originals don't need cheap copies. They already did things just like them. So sad.
My wife and I love HGTV, but Hometown is the worst show they have ever aired. The couple has no onscreen chemistry and their designs are absolutely terrible. I'm sorry, but shower curtains on the front porch. And her artwork looks like something at 3rd grade level. I would ask that this show be cancelled immediately and please don't air the commercial any longer. They are the most annoying thing on TV.
I really wanted to like this show but could barely make it through the 1st episode. The couple is unappealing and her artwork and vision for the house is child like. Have to change channel when this comes on.
The couple is cute, but they have no personality or decorating skills. Sad :( I deleted it off of our VCR. No bueno!
What is with this woman's accent? I lived in Mississippi for 8 years... she has the fakest accent ever... it is soooo exaggerated I can't stand it! Does she think it makes her cute? BLESS HER HEART!
Unlike some other harsh reviews, I enjoy watching home improvement shows with genuine, enthusiastic adults who are not actors. (Home Town in Mississippi, Good Bones from Indianapolis and the two sisters in Memphis are just three examples. I like to see regional differences in housing.) I appreciate the many talents that Ben and Erin have. They value history, and they know quality construction when they see it. They are careful to use reclaimed wood as much as possible. I avoid watching shows where plastic hosts rip out everything, restore nothing and put in the same layout and use the same materials over and over. My Midwestern house is almost 100 years old, and I learn good ideas from Home Town. Thank you HGTV for this show.
"We're SAVING this town"... REALLY? Is it your uninspired, vanilla renovation designs or your over inflated egos that qualify you to do that? Thank goodness you are so humble, are you sure you have time for "town saving" between groping your large, furry husband & exchanging sloppy, sweaty kisses? It may be just me, but I find it difficult to get behind a designer who's creativity to coordinate her outfit goes no further than grabbing a sloppy handful of her shirt & stuffing it down the front of every pair of pants she owns? And is it completely necessary to burst out in giggles & clap like a two year old over every comment you both make, that only you seem to understand the humor in? I'm sorry but every time the commercial for this show comes on I gag & want to physically run from the room. Please, PLEASE HGTV I know you are desperate for someone to watch the show but forcing the ad for this down our throats every 4 minutes isn't doing you any favors. Please cancel the show asap.
Clearly many people dislike this show, but I think it's great! The town in Mississippi where they live is lovely and full of beautiful historic homes. My favorite thing about this show is that the houses are each historic home, full of unique details, and that the renovations maintain the historic and traditional aspects of each home. Erin also incorporates much more color into her designs than what you'd find in Fixer Upper. Love it! While I do like Fixer Upper and Chip and Joanna, I do not like the "farmhouse" style that uses farm sinks, rusted antiques, and empty frames to make gallery walls, etc. (this type of style that is so "in" will look awful in a few years!). Whereas the homes in Home Town look lovely in a classic Southern or craftsman style and will stand the test of time. Personally I would love to live in a home renovated by the Napiers!
Two things - First, it is just an attempt to copy Fixer Upper. Ugh. Secondly, we get they are married. Really. Can Ben just keep his hands off his wife long enough to film even a few minutes of an episode? Many of us are happily married but we are also able to act professionally. We are not tuning in to see 'happy couples.' It's about home and gardens. Please... stop trying to copy one HGTV show to create another. Makes you seem afraid to try anything new. I can hear your people talking about 'recreating a format that works...' Actually... it doesn't work. Viewers are smart and able to understand more than one format. Not interested in copy cats. Can't watch Home Town and haven't even tried to watch the 'new' show 'Flipping Vegas.'
This couple is the cutest couple on this series of improvement shows. They renovate beautifully. Looking forward to more shpws!
This has got to be the worst show on HGTV. I cringe just from seeing the previews. They're awful and have no talent. This show needs to be cancelled to make room for someone with talent. It's plain to see these two are trying too hard to cover the fact that they're clueless.
This show is so bad. The characters have no personality and cannot design to save their lives. I watch tv 90% of the time, but turn the channel when this comes on. Take it off tv and do more Fixer Upper shows.
Answer: There are SO many commercials for Hometown ( more than 6 per hour), I won't be watching it because I am sick of the couple posing and posing. So many commercials mean something is wrong with the show. HELP PLEASE!
Answer: I agree! Landscapes, gardening... something that blends in vegetation to give a nice break from home remodels.
