This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had!
I purchased two TVs from Walmart around Black Friday and scheduled installation through HelloTech for January 28. Two days before the appointment, HelloTech cancelled my installation with no real notice. The only communication they sent was an email that went straight to my junk folder.
What's unbelievable is that HelloTech has my phone number and had been texting me nonstop about my upcoming installation — yet somehow they decided not to send a text or make a phone call to notify me that it was cancelled. A simple text would have prevented all of this.
When I finally spoke with Nina, a supervisor, I had to ask for a refund. Let that sink in — they were not even going to offer to refund the money I already paid for a service they cancelled. I was told my refund check would be "in the mail," but after this experience, I'm not holding my breath.
Their reason for cancelling? They claimed they couldn't find a technician in my area. Funny enough, one phone call on my end and I found a tech myself.
HelloTech is completely disorganized, lacks basic communication skills, and shows zero accountability to their customers. If you value your time, money, and sanity, do yourself a favor and avoid this company entirely.
I scheduled an installation with Hellotech only to have them cancel three times and then no show on the fourth. I contacted customer service, and they promised a full refund. Six email exchanges and a month later, there has been no refund. Each time they were contacted they said they had "escalated" my concern and would contact me within 24 hours. The only contact I received was an email for a customer satisfaction survey which I had already filled out three times. Still chasing, still waiting...
They say they are 24/7 but refused to help me even when they say were open but wouldn't take new tickets. Complete run around that they say they are 24/7 but won't help in an emergency during working hours. Very disappointing.
I ordered a nickel elegant shaped smart lock and received a black square version. Bait and switch tactic 100%. I called customer service and received no help. I'll supposedly receive a call in the next 48 hours but the man on the phone could not even send me a confirmation of contact email. As this is a tech company you would think this would be possible when a ticket is create if not auto generated. Be very wary of ordering merchandise from this company.
I had an appointment in February on a Saturday and cancel the appointment 24 hours before the appointment date. I'm still being charged 19.99 a month and have canceled my membership the same day as I cancel the appointment.
Hellotech quoted me a price to dismount and then mount a new TV on my wall. They overcharged me $69 more than they quoted. I brought that to their attention numerous times but no one would follow up on it. Finally I received a refund for $50 but not for the $69 they agreed they overcharged me. Then they put the $50 refund and the $69 back on my credit card. I disputed the charges with my credit card company. The lack of any follow up and the incompetence and the overcharges, what a mess. Don't use them or get a quote in writing.
I booked this service because of the advertising, "Same Day Installation." The appointment has since been rescheduled 4 times after having been assured the appointment was set. This is NOT how servicing services should be scheduled (or lack of in this situation) should be handled. If I could leave less than 1 star, I would.
I had an appointment for a tech to show up and nobody did. I called the company and they had no idea. They will call back, they never did. I called them back and they said the tech will not get there even though no call text or email. Company is awful
Installation went ok but the monthly membership is a complete waste of money. They said $99 per device is their normal rate but with membership it's $69. The ring devices barely cost $99. Complete rip off to be a member.
I was told by Simplisafe that I needed to contact HelloTech for home service. I was then told by HelloTech that they would be unable to help me. HelloTech then started charging me monthly! TOTAL RIP-OFF!
Hired this company, HelloTech to install a SimpliSafe alarm. The tech arrived, mentioned he "was in a hurry, and needed to knock the job out quick. Even asked if I could assist him in unboxing and connecting all via my iPhone.
He proceeded to install two door sensors. Then got to a window. He could not get the sensor to stick, so he decided to drill. He drilled a hole into the window frame and the window glass immediately cracked all the way across.
He asked if he'd like me to proceed. Declined and told him this job is done and would like to terminate. Also, asked him to file an incident report of the damaged. He asked me to just do it all via email. Again, I declined and asked him to file the report while still on site and on speaker phone.
Very unprofessional and unequipped to do a simple job and task. Did not even apologize for the damages he caused.
Now the fun part, getting my property repaired back to original form. A brand new home! They have been extremely unresponsive and is tracking towards a date in small claims. Also, spreading the word about how horrible and unprofessional this experience has been.
Proceed with caution with HelloTech. They don't care that they damaged our brand new home. Nor respond to several calls, emails and chats. Stay far away and hire a company or individual with better practices.
I do not recommend. They like to add charges that are not requested. I ordered their services to setup my tv. All I wanted was the onetime charge. They tacked on a $4.99 trial charge for their monthly service. I told them to take it off but they never responded. I cancelled the service and was charged $25. Not sure what the charge was about because when I talked to tech he had open times. Not reputable in my judgement
I requested someone to mount a flat screen TV on my wall.
I initially was linked with a tech in my area, but after several hours, was emailed saying the tech was no longer available. Their advice was just to choose a greater number of availability. I phoned them and they said I was in a limited availability area and they would get back to me. Again said choose more dates and times for availablity. After 24 hours I have received NO UPDATE! Please do yourself a favor and find your own resource to do the work. You will probably get a faster response and pay less $$.
I purchased a Honeywell Smart Thermostat and hired a technician via HelloTech in mid-November to replace my current thermostat in my brownstone. The technician installed it, but didn't check to see if it worked. It didn't and my house was without heat for me and my tenants. I called HelloTech within a few hours, and they promised they would reach out within 24-48 hours. They didn't. My house was without heat for six days in 30 degree weather, I called every day to resolve this issue and talked to absolutely useless customer service agents that promised that they would get back to me, only to completely disappear. Finally, I had to hire an emergency electrician to come in and tell me that the thermostat was faulty. When I finally did get a hold of someone at HelloTech who did something, one week later, they told me I would have to return the thermostat, wait for a new thermostat, then make a new appointment with a technician. That would mean 2 1/2 weeks without heat in December. They offered no solutions.
This was an absolute nightmare. DO NOT HIRE HELLOTECH. I have truly never received such horrendous customer service in my life. I have been emailing them every three days since trying to get a full refund for the thermostat (which they finally provided me a UPS shipping label for) and the labor. This cost me about $900 more than it should have, with the HelloTech cost plus the emergency electrician. Truly unbelievable. I've had plenty of bad experiences with contractors, but this takes the cake. BEWARE.
We called HelloTech to fix a remote that acts as a liaison between the television set on the wall, and a cable box in a closet. They charged us $79+ tax, upfront for the service call. Turned out that the technician jiggled two wires, and bingo, the remote worked. He never removed the tv from the wall, never played with the box, jiggled two wires. When I booked the service, I was told that the $94+ with tax would cover fixing the unit. American Express has caught them trying to charge us an additional $203.14 twice and blocked it! Yay, Amex. I called their cs department. It was evident from the accents both times that I was not speaking to representatives from the United States. Both times, I was assured that the error would be rectified. So far, not. Stay tuned in for further updates. Oh, they also had my email wrong.
I booked service with HelloTech in October 2021 to connect my television cable, a DVD player and a Firestick to a new television I'd been gifted. TV service and the 2 devices were operating normally on the older, smaller set and we wanted to change over to the bigger set. The tech who showed up ["James"] held forth at great length about his claimed experience and expertise, but when he left we had neither television reception nor a functioning DVD player, and the only thing working was the Firestick. I was billed a total of $158.19 for the service call and the "membership fee" and after numerous efforts to secure a refund under their "30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee" I was left worse off than I was before James' arrival and am out the $158 dollars. Fortunately our cable provider sent a tech out 2 hours after I called them and he was able to get everything working in about 30 minutes, a good bit of which was spent undoing James' work, and for which there was no charge. I am a retired County Probation Director and am 73 years old, and can provide reference numbers for the HT charges to my VISA card on request.
For the first appointment, the technician assigned was a no show. After 2 hours I called HelloTech and they gave me another appointment the next day. HelloTech then assigned the same technician who was a no show the first time, which I don't understand. He called about 3 hours before the appointment asking if he and his partner could come early, I said that I was in meetings for the next 3 hours. He sighed and said if they didn't come now, he might not have someone to help him. I said I'm sorry.
When my meetings ended earlier than planned, I called and told them they could go ahead and come now. When they arrived, the technician complained from the first moment he walked in the door through the almost 2 hours he was here. It wasn't on the work order that he had to take down a 45" TV so that's an additional cost…the Sony TV he had to mount was new and had a bracket he wasn't familiar with…the instructions only had pictures, no words…the instructions didn't make sense…if the bracket had been a normal one, they would have already been out of there…I didn't put on the work order that the HDMI cable for the Apple TV that was there had to be pulled from the wall so that would be an additional cost, etc. Any time I asked a question or offered to help in any way, he snapped at me or gave me some sarcastic/snide response. He actually called me "Baby Girl" at one point (I'm over 50 years old).
When the TV was hung, it was not even close to being centered, was crooked, and did not hang flush to the wall (which is one of the reasons why I selected the bracket I did…a Sony one that was especially made for the 2021 model Sony TV). When I pointed out these issues he said "there's nothing I can do" (although he never tried). Then he called into the office and told them that he tried to center it, but I complained it wasn't perfect, which was a lie. After the call he did try for about 5 min and then said the TV was too heavy (even though he had someone there helping him) and that the only way to fix it was to take the bracket off. He said he wasn't going to do that.
The second part of the work order was to hang the old TV in a different room. After 10 minutes, he comes in to say they couldn't hang it because the screws on the back of the TV were too tight and he didn't have the tools to take the existing bracket (for the 45" TV) off the wall. He then called into the office again (3rd time) to explain the problem. Each time he called, he talked about me in the most derogatory way.
In the end, I'm not sure if my new TV is hung properly, much less being centered. It doesn't look stable. They left packing materials all over the place. The 65" TV that was there is propped next to a bed. They removed the 45" TV and then threw it back on the wall, even though I told them to leave it off. It also does not look stable. When I asked for his name, he told me to call HelloTech and they would tell me. Then they left.
I did call, and HelloTech is refunding me for part of the job. I'm now making an appointment and will pay additional money for Geek Squad to fix what HelloTech did not do.
Absolutely the WORST customer service experience I've ever been through. I go through their online scheduler and set an appointment for 4:00 on Saturday. I get a confirmation email and text that the technician "Jamie" will be there. I wait all day for "Jaime" to arrive and around 4:15 I decided I need to call and make sure this technician isn't lost. I call the company and they say that they need to get in touch with him and they'll call me back. 20 minutes goes by and I hear nothing so I call again. They give me the same script and a few minutes after I get off the phone "Jamie" calls me. At this point its 4:45. He says that he's stuck in a neighboring town (thats over an hour away) and that he'll be on his way in the next hour (making him a minumum 2 hours late). I call the company and there's nothing they can do and ask me to reschedule. I waited ALL DAY for this technician to show up. All they had to do was call and tell me they were running late yet they didn't. This company does not value their customers time and business. They absolutely do not deserve a chance to work on your home. Don't waste your time with this scam.
Ok so I went to hellotech so I could get my tv mounted the same day I moved in and not have to wait like 2 week for the geeksquad to do it and the guy was very nice but literally the same night that he installed it I could see I start to fall off the wall luck I caught it before it fell all the way so naturally I asked for my money back and they said that they would be happy to once they got pictures of my wall and it has been over two weeks I have talked to 9 different people and I still have not gotten my money back I wish I could give them negative stars
They came in for an instal, but didn't complete the job. 4 phone calls later, and numerous promises that someone was going to come back and finish the job, and NOTHING! Total waste of money. Stay away from these guys
They scheduled a time to install a smart thermostat, the time came and went, and no installer showed up. I sent a message asking them what is going on, why is the installer not here yet. About 45 minutes after the scheduled time I receive a message saying that the installer is no longer available. Do not use them, they are unreliable and have no concern for their clients. They wasted my time and did not even have the decency to call to let me know they were running late or unable to keep their appointment, nor did they apologize afterward.
I scheduled an appointment to have my TV mounted to the wall 3 days ago. The tech did not show up this morning. No call, no nothing. I called Hello Tech and was told the tech was no longer available and to reschedule as early as tomorrow. Gave them 2 different times for tomorrow and they said no one is available. I canceled my order and request my money back that they already took out of my account.
