HelloFresh requires you to sign in and add your payment information no matter what. Once added, they automatically schedule you're next 6-8 deliveries. You must cancel each one of these deliveries manually in order to avoid being charged for them and they charge you more each delivery. Even after these automatically scheduled orders, they will continue to schedule more routine deliveries without prompting you. Essentially, they will continue to charge your account and send you orders unless you manually cancel them prior or if you close your account. I tried HelloFresh. Paid for one box, cancelled the rest. Didn't like it and forgot about it. About 6 weeks later I get a PayPal notification saying they HelloFresh charged me $50. I didn't even get a notification for this delivery! I called customer service, told them to cancel it and they said they couldn't because they have a 5-day cancellation policy. I was charged outside this 5-day window.
Alongside all of this shoddy business, the meals are low quality and cheap. HelloFresh praises themselves by stating that each box includes over $70 of food and that it's high quality. I could've went to the grocery store and spent $12, instead of the $40 I was charged from HelloFresh.
I can go on and on about this poor excuse for a business but I think you get the picture. Save your money and make sure to close your HelloFresh account before they charge you without your permission.
Be careful providing this company with your bank account or bank card information. Even after canceling they will attempt to charge you. My wife called customer service and the individual on the other end told her it was "too late" and hung up on us. It is October and we had canceled back in MARCH.
The food was OKAY (although current news articles cite E. Coli outbreak) but we ultimately decided the quality/quantity for the cost was NOT worth it back in March.
To the "customer service representative" who hung up on us, Go F$#% yourself.
It took me 3 times before my order was properly cancelled and only after they sent me a box I did not want. Sub standard communications, customer service reps speak very poor English and do not deviate from their set dialogue. Also sick of the substitutions they conveniently don't let you know until you have the box. No updated menus saw me with lots of celery (I hate celery) left over.
Was a day late to change my order as I was not in town, tried to get contact support to help me cancel the order. They said they can't because they don't want food waste... but It is getting wasted anyway because I cant even use it! Will not even give me a refund...$100 down the drain. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Order a box for an arrival of yesterday between 8 am - 8PM stayed up until 930 PM, waiting, but it never arrived.
Spent 35 minutes of excruciating pain trying to convince customer service I had a delivery. In excessive repetition had to explain my address, who I was, my delivery date, the charge, the fact that I had a box arriving.
In the end was told sorry for the inconvenience but expect your box by 8 PM tonight.?
As a service you agree to for time and convenience, I received the opposite. For the time I spent waiting for the box and on the customer service line I could have meal planned and actually had food to cook today. Not worth it. Also how long does a box last when its been in a warm unrefrigerated vehicle for 48 hours or more? That issue did not concern hello fresh at all, he basically told me to smell it when it arrived and let them know if its spoiled... THANKS.
You're honestly better just shopping smartly and going to Aldi, save a lot, or other stores that are lower in price and shopping deals, than to do this. I mean convince is awesome but Jesus it is EXPENSIVE if you really think about it and add it up!
I ordered four items, hamburgers, pork veggie bowl, meatball veggie mix and a chicken meal. At the 50% off price it was marginal, the elapsed time took longer, seasoning too salty and not marked so I could read which seasoning. Going to the next del I ordered 3 items and I'll give another try. Ext *******@20% off still not a value to me.
Worst customer service that I have ever experienced! Aside from that they do not care about their customers satisfaction, their food options are also crap compared to other services. I would not recommend this service and I would 100% go to home chef
When I first started this I loved it. The recipes were good and had no issues. Then orders started missing items, or have wrong items. I am highly allergic to nuts so imagine my surprise when my order shows up with nuts in it. Then the boxes seemingly just got more expensive. I notice how they offer discounts for new comers all the time but never for anyone loyal to the company buying weekly. And I got burnt out of this company fast. I started skipping a lot of weeks because it was too expensive and you can't cancel your account without jumping through hoops. Today I saw my account was charged on a week that I SKIPPED on the app so I called to get that resolved and cancel my account. The guy hassled me to try and keep my account open and said he could not refund me my money for an order I skipped. And even said his supervisor couldn't do it either…, after a couple minutes his supervisor now says he can refund me half my money back on this order. This company is complete bs… they don't care about customers, and the quality is barely 1 star. I'll never recommend them since at this point I feel they screwed me over!

For the last 2 1/2 months I have had nothing but trouble with Hello Fresh. Their technical support is horrible. It took them a month to change my email address and without any notice I received 2 food deliveries (2 separate times over these 2 months) without prior warning of any kind. I was guaranteed 3 times by various people that I would have an email sent so that I could choose what I wanted but, again, did not happen. Now I've got a delivery that they are refusing to refund the $55.55 taken out of my account because it was too late to cancel even though I did not order, and it is food I would never eat. So disappointed. I can't add a proof of purchase because it's automatic in my account and bank won't let me copy.

The quantity and quality of food they provide is ridiculous. One meal costs 10 USD, and the amount of food will not fill you. Take 10 USD and spend them in a grocery store. That will save you a lot. Upon arrival about 40 % of the produce was rotten. They did reimburse me. Check reviews, the average is 1 star.
The food is pretty good, so 4/5 stars on that, but you should be wary of their subscription model. We only wanted to do a trial of their service and one box, but in their fine print you have to cancel an order five days before its shipping date. You can try and ask their customer support for help, but he basically said "sorry, but you missed the window to cancel the order, can't help you". Its too bad, I really liked their italian rigatoni, but this has soured my taste for this company in the long term.

I was in the interest placing an order, but it turned out with bad impression and experience. I went online to see how much it will cost to order the meal for my family, in order to see the menu options, step 1. I need to create an account and enter my credit card information ( which is fine because if I like it then I will place orders), after reviewing their meal options and I decided to hold off the try out. I cancelled the subscription and first meal delivery, my account was deactivated. The next thing I know the first order showed up at my door and I was been charge for $75. I called the Customer Service and was told the first initial order cannot be cancelled, and if i don't choose the meal options, the computer will pick the meal for me. So I was forced to accept a box of order and forced to pay for the order wasn't even placed by myself. I got the rep to confirm my account was deactivated, but she told me once the order went out, there's no reverse in payment.
I was in the good impression with hello fresh at beginning that was why I wanted to try it, but with the way they work with customers, and lack in the management( I was told to be contacted by a supervisor with in 2 days; then what am I going to do with the food as I don't want to open it in case they say I open it and the charge will be on me, plus I don't even have room in my fridge for the food they sent to me) I am so disappointed with their service and how it works, all I want is my money to be refunded as I didn't place the order.
Always have surprise meals and the quality is bad. It happened three times to me that they charge me and send me surprise meals and charged surprise bills when I do not want them. The first time I forget to skip the week and only found out two days before shipping on my credit card statement. Their customer service told me it was too late to cancel and charged me without letting me choose the menu. No complaints because I forgot. But they sent me almost garbage (veggies already turn black). Then I remembered to skip the weeks for about one and a half months. Then they charged me another surprise meal again although I skipped the week and confirmed it was skipped when they wanted me to choose the dishes. Again, a surprise meal with all the chipset dishes but an expensive surprise bill and not allowing me to change things 4-5 days before they ship. The box integrate was absolutely nothing to do with Fresh, and the amount is small. Completely unsatisfied and untrustable!

I signed up to get a box from Hello Fresh with a trial period. After seeing the pre selected meals, and no way to change them, I just decided to cancel it right after. By the end of the week, I got a message that they charged my account. I contacted them, and asked why I was charged when I cancelled long before the shipping, the rep never answered my question, and then just said she would send me a refund. I contacted them over and over again about my refund, and they claimed it was "processing." Finally, I just disputed the charge with PayPal and it was taken care of... at the bottom of their website it says you have to request to, TERMINATE your account in writing and it takes 45-60 days for them to even respond to confirm your request! Canceling and deactivating your account doesn't do anything! They will save and hold on to you account info, and payment info and send yearly charges! They basically have your consent while your account is with them. So request them send you a letter in the mail, send it back certified to terminate your account, if you email them, they continue to lie, they are truly "Wolves in Sheep's Clothing!"

I had been a HelloFresh customer for over a year. Then they just start treating you like they don't care about your business. Do not use HelloFresh they don't care about their customers. They only care about getting your money. They will lie and deceit you just to get your money. After I was a long time customer they didn't care at all about what was happening. I had 3 different employees lie and deceive me even after I had proof that they were doing this. DO NOT EVER USE HELLOFRESH

Still kind of in shock over how this company operates. I signed up as I was interested in finding out more. When I couldn't view the menu without first supplying a payment method, I didn't think anything more of it so I added a credit card. I had a look at the vegetarian meals and decided the food wasn't for me and decided not to use HelloFresh after all. To my surprise I received an email the next day saying that my box was being prepared for delivery. I called customer service only to be told that by signing up, I was signing up to a subscription and even though I had just wanted to browse the menu first, some vegetarian meals had already been pre-selected for me. There was no "submit" phase for this order, no ability to simply browse the types of meals before committing, it was all arranged for me and as I had apparently missed the cut-off time (which had never been disclosed to me) there was nothing that could be done. I guess this is how HelloFresh get your money, in this weird semi-scam-ish way. So disappointing as the meals honestly look revolting. So BEWARE! Don't even risk signing up to find out more, because they'll take your money without you even realising you're signing up for a subscription.

Crooks to say the least. I got an email and opened it and looked at their programs/meals. They sent me an order that I did not request. They will not take it back or reimbursement me for it. I do not even know what is in the box. Interested that there is no way to make a complaint on their site.

Good food, but WAY too expensive for the portion sizes. I thought maybe it would be better to switch to a 4 person box, but even with a discount it would cost $130 for three meals! That's more than I pay for groceries for a week, for three meals a day!

Answer: I signed up and realised its a scam - your first order is only able to be placed 2 weeks away, meaning they get your money even if you use a coupon... and from other reviews they won't let you cancel. I just registered a voucher, saw the dates and tried to cancel... and can't - there is no "cancel" on their website
Answer: You will still have to pay for delivery and such because this company says those things cannot be covered by a gift card. Beware signing up, because they will subscribe you as soon as you enter credit card information. It is in their Terms and Conditions at the beginning of the process.
Answer: You're automatically on auto ship…any week you don't overtly cancel will get sent out and you'll get charged.
Answer: Nor really. They will want to give you a partial refund of the single ingredient you found to be of poor quality... and that's if you want to take the time to navigate the website to find out how to do it. Their website is totally designed to make customer service difficult.
