This company has gone down hill. Poor quality of food, missing products, horrible customer service
I am approaching my 100th box of hello fresh and have loved this membership for a long time and still do. It's helped me learn to cook and eat healthier than I normally would because I am a college student and don't have a lot of time to plan, shop, and cook healthily.
Lately the chicken, specifically the chicken strips, have been very low quality. About half of the chicken provided is just pieces of fat and has big weird pieces of veins/cartilage. I am having to sort through the package to get rid of the gross stuff and I think I am getting half the chicken I am supposed to. If they would just keep it to chicken breasts only and have the customer chop it themselves it would be much better.
I tried to investigate HelloFresh just to see if it was something I would be interested in. I DID NOT actually place and order, yet they generated an order, charged me and refused to cancel it. I called customer service and was repeatedly given the script of "I'm sorry for any inconvenience". They told me that once an account is set up, I had to give them my email address before I could look into what they had to offer, they automatically generate an order. This is unacceptable! I will never recommend this awful company to anybody and I will discourage everybody from using this company. I can't add proof of purchase because I have not received a confirmation email. My order number is *******577
Avoid Hello Fresh
We order 5 meals for 2 people, each week at a cost of approx £50+ each week.
They constantly ignore our delivery instructions.
The last 2 weeks we have made changes to our menu, which have not been recognised and we have received the wrong meals.
In addition to this, this week we have missing ingredients!
When ringing in it's clear that the call centre is not in the UK and they are most unhelpful, it sounds like they're having a party in the background.
If you ask to speak to a manager you have to wait 48 hours for them to call you at their convenience.
Avoid this company at all costs they are appallingly bad.
Date of experience: 29 December 2022
They have ripped my account off for more then $200 and will not refund me my my money they are fraud
Hello Fresh has a 50% chance of making an error with your weekly meal kit. Either they pack the wrong menu item or about 80% of time there will be missing ingredients. I've been a customer 2 years and they promise to "look into" these problems, yet they occur almost WEEKLY. Also, if there is a holiday they will often mis ship date by 2 or 3 full days. Try Instacart and order your own stuff. That gets there faster and is cheaper
Well I look at my bank account on Christmas day and I'm being charged they are closed and you can't go online to change your meals which is Joke cause if my payment doesn't go through. Now the selection is limited each week and what you may like is Premium choice which is Premium price.nVery disappointed in company that supposedly give health choices NOt
My room mate had been ordering hello fresh for about 6 months (he is NOT any more) In those orders there are cards for a free box for new orders. The card says, "claim your free box" & "give a free box" Go to, hellofresh.com/free-box... Etc. So I figure I will try out a meal plan different from what I have seen my roommate get. The fine print says, "may be an $8.99 shipping charge" "value of free box equal to $65.00". So I go to order a "free box"...my particular plan was UNDER the $65.00 limit. When I go to checkout, Not only do they want my credit card number with no explanation, But they also want $10.95 (what happened to $8.99?). Again, no explanation. I have eaten hello fresh with my roommate, It's just OK... Just OK. Right on the line of, "I don't know, is this really worth the trouble it takes... the meals are sort of easy, but not THAT easy (or fast) to prepare, BUT, I'll give a different type of meal plan a try".
However, I Despise being treated like an idiot by a company, being mis-lead and just flat out lied to. For me, this is an automatic deal breaker. My philosophy about this is, "If your company is truly a good value & high quality"... you know, It may not even be about "value" I will gladly pay for high quality as will most people. But when a company lies, mis-leads, however you want to say it, It tells me that the company doesn't even have faith in their own product and they think I am stupid and will just overlook the deceptive advertising. I am sure I am not alone in this feeling.
I wanted to try the food and understood auto-replenish was part of the deal. Once my first meal was ordered, I paused delivery to give my family a chance to try it before we automatically order more. So I pushed my next delivery out to 1/3/22 (don't need this food during the holidays!). Hello Fresh shipped my second box anyway and once I was provided notice it was being prepared, I called Hello Fresh directly and told them to cancel that shipment. They won't cancel it, even though I had requested online to pause the shipment. The food is now 2x the cost of the first shipment, and not worth the price.
The food is mediocre and the plastic waste associated with this type of program is sickening. Hello Fresh has proven themselves an unethical company and they will bait and switch you into joining their program, and then not letting you cancel until they get an additional, over-priced shipment sent to you.
They also offer no refunds, so the customer is always wrong from their point of view. Horrible company - do not use!
Always on time, always delicious, good proportions and easy to follow instructions. Packaging is also getting less. Things like oil shouldn't be included though since we have it at home.
Consumer be aware, I received a gift from a purchase of 21 meals plus other gifts.
I registered in HelloFresh nothing free, no gifts nothing
You have to pay with a small discount all the meals.
I didn't ask for this gift, I was willing to try until they kept on pushing for my credit card number and my info
I had wanted to skip an order and unknowingly the stupid thing I did was "donate the box". I wasn't thinking all that clear and I was not under the impression it would out of my pocket. Now y'all can say I'm stupid all you want, but no where else it clear that it was my pocket. I thought surely this company would just pay since they are a *well reputable* company and during the holidays that's their nice way of giving to the needy.
As soon as I saw the payment processing my account was in the negatives. I quickly opened the app and contacted support to let them know it was very hard to scrap my last pennies to save my account and that this month is very hard. I was hoping they would be empathetic and understand and since I don't use the services anymore that they could see I've been skipping every delivery for the last year. They make it EXTREMELY difficult to cancel without talking to a representative.
TONI seemed very understanding and said they would gladly refund me and to try to enjoy the holidays. I was told it would take 5-10 business days to complete. So I was grateful that they actually seemed helpful. On the 6th day I logged back in to check the status and to confirm it was being refunded, someone rather quite rude said to wait and I asked why they don't send an email or if they did and never received one saying my refund would be processing. They said they do not do that and that I just need to wait it out. Now surely it's appropriate for the company to acknowledge this through email for security and confirmation reasons, right? Nope they just go about their day hoping you'd forget and not to mention the date of the reversal would be helpful on both ends of each party.
I waited until the 12th business day hoping I was maybe counting my days wrong or that they processed it the next following business day because I had talked to them initially on a Thursday. I reached out to make sure my days were correct and why is it that it's been 10-12 days with no funds returned. Of course they asked everything all over again and they looked back through the history. They come back saying they see no chat history in the beginning which was December 1st. They only saw the second chat and asked if I had "proof* of the initial chat. I said no and that's unbelievable your agents would dare to delete that.
They told me my bank already has disputed the charge and I just said bye and left the chat.
I called my bank and told them everything again and what had happened. They said no dispute was ever made and they I myself had to do that myself through them. So we began the process and they said they would cancel future payments just incase.
The fact Hello fresh lied and was sneaky makes me NEVER want to return to them. They are snakes and should be out of business.
Never again!
Our family has been enjoying HelloFresh for months now. The food was good and easy. But beware if you ever have to talk to someone. I thought I skipped a week and when I realized I didn't I called right away to stop the shipment due to finances. They tell you they cant stop it even though the box was not set to ship out for 4 more days, then when you ask for management they give you the run around, tell you they will have them call you and after 5 phone calls in 2 days still NO RETURN CALL! Horrible customer service... Get better HelloFresh, there are to many other delivery options out there...
I have ordered 3 boxes, every single box had a missing ingredient, how does that even happen? And its so expensive!
Stopped my meals the month I graduated college, 13 months later my credit card was billed $400 and they was sending meals to my old address. When I called them they said I started it back up. The only thing that could've happened is the person living there got mail sent from them and started it back up. After numerous times trying to get my money back for food I didn't pay or received they wouldn't do nothing. So my suggestion is to never buy from this company. It's a total scam and their customer service sucks!
I entered all my card data to place an order. I discovered you could not select diet restrictions, so I left the order incomplete. Without any email order verification, or any notice, they pulled the amount of the subscription out of my checking, completed the order, and sent the food in a wet, tore up box. When I contacted them to cancel the subscription, delete the account information and reimburse my account, they refused to reimburse. I had to cancel my debit card. Request a new debit card, in order to stop payment. They are extremely dishonest. DO NOT GIVE THEM CARD INFORMATION.
Order No. *******387 as a gift to. Kalamazoo address was placed 12/6/22 and was to be delivered 12/9/22. My notice said delayed. How is this food going to be fresh since it's the weekend and still not delivered. I should have checked the reviews of this company before ordering as there were very few good ones. If this order gets delivered it better be safe.
DO NOT EVEN GO ON THEIR WEBSITE. I went on the website just to check it out after hearing about it from influencers. You HAVE to put a CC on the account to even look. Didn't even pick anything just took a little look and than I was charged next day, it said I COULD make changes so I called and once I gave the account it said I COULD'NT make changes "it has to be 4 days in advance" the representative was rude and said sorry after charging me $200 for something I didn't want
I tried this for the first time yesterday. The food turned out delicious. Nice flavors that were a good change from my normal weeknight meals. It was more work than I was expecting. For some reason I was thinking these would be simple meals (i.e. Ready in 15 minutes). But that's not a negative. Having all the fresh vegetables and ingredients to make it yourself taste way better than pre-prepped meals out of a box. Overall I thought it was pretty darn good. My only complaint would be the amount of packaging that it comes in. It's a nice presentation and very well packaged, but it's sooooo much packaging. Seems like a lot of waste.
I signed up for an account while away on a business trip. Was excited to try but knew I wouldn't be home for two weeks after looking through the website. So I clicked pause my delivery and was going to come back to it when I was coming home. Little did I know the button did not work and I get a message the day before saying a box is on its way and I was charged for one. Called customer service saying I wouldn't be home and I didn't intend on paying for it. Twice was I told there is nothing I can do so a box of food I didn't want will be sitting on my porch for a week before I get home and nothing could be done for a credit or anything. I didn't even click to add food yet to a menu so how does that happen? Already canceled.
Answer: I signed up and realised its a scam - your first order is only able to be placed 2 weeks away, meaning they get your money even if you use a coupon... and from other reviews they won't let you cancel. I just registered a voucher, saw the dates and tried to cancel... and can't - there is no "cancel" on their website
Answer: You will still have to pay for delivery and such because this company says those things cannot be covered by a gift card. Beware signing up, because they will subscribe you as soon as you enter credit card information. It is in their Terms and Conditions at the beginning of the process.
Answer: You're automatically on auto ship…any week you don't overtly cancel will get sent out and you'll get charged.
Answer: Nor really. They will want to give you a partial refund of the single ingredient you found to be of poor quality... and that's if you want to take the time to navigate the website to find out how to do it. Their website is totally designed to make customer service difficult.
