We canceled our subscription years ago… then suddenly we started getting charged for packages being delivered when we never even got them. And never agreed to restart our subscription. This happened for weeks. They stole a lot of our money and Hello fresh did nothing. They wouldn't even give us a free box for all the boxes we paid for but never got.
Do NOT trust Hello fresh! They are only out for your money and once they have it that's it.
I bought a Groupon and went the Hello Fresh site with a code to get my meal that was $22.00 on Groupon. Went to order my meal, which was already paid for with my Groupon. In order to do this I was required to put in my credit card before I coupon place my order. Big mistake. I went it a few days days to remove my credit, but they had already charged my credit card for future meals. I called to them to have the money refunded and they refused. Currently working with Citi Cards to get my money back. This company is scammers and I would caution everybody to stay away from them. The food was awful, the fish smelled, the potatoes were not fresh and the veggies was dry and old.
Hello fresh is a company that gives advertisments for free meals offer and once we take subscription even i didn't place the order, wothout choice of my meals which are pork,beef which i won't eat.They ordered without my notice and adding a bill for it.When i checked my mail after work and called them they said it's too late to cancel and i have to pay 75 cad for it without discounts.but the order reciept which i got in my mail is for 30 cad.They are playing with discounts and automated orders.don't trust this
My husband and I first started this as a way for us to do something together, cooking a great meal while learning new things about food. When we first started, we planned our grocery trip accordingly. We excluded a couple meals from our weekly menu to make room for what was being delivered, only our delivery never showed up. Not a great start! I reached out and they credited my account for the charges to be used on a future box. The next week went better, our kit showed up with great timing, the food was good and we enjoyed cooking it. It was time consuming but we thought once we got the hang of it, it would go faster. Fast forward a month later and it was still taking us approximately 45 minutes to cook each meal. One in particular, a pasta meal which was probably a favorite, ended up taking me over an hour to make. Yikes! After that, we decided to take a break. I skipped all our meals possible, 5 weeks. Then, we went on vacation and I forgot to skip. That same day I went online and cancelled our account, letting my $80 credit go even though it should have been used by then. The account said no upcoming deliveries, I assumed no more boxes and thought my money would be refunded since it hadn't shipped. That was not the case! They still charged me, shipped the food because it wasn't cancelled 5 days before delivery and I had to forgo my credit because I was still in a promotional period. Their website can be hard to navigate, there are lots of ins and outs about the promotions that are not clearly stated and they can take your money and not provide product. We've tried Blue Apron, Factor 75 and Hello Fresh and this has been by far the most disappointing.
We have been ordering HelloFresh for years and almost always thoroughly enjoyed the variety, quality and freshness of the food. In fact recently HelloFresh emailed us to thank us for having ordered over 160 boxes! However, the delivery reliability has absolutely fallen off a cliff recently. When HelloFresh sends you an email on your delivery day entitled "Important information about your upcoming delivery", that basically means "no box for you this week". In the last month, out of the 5 boxes we have ordered, only 3 have been delivered. The other 2 just never showed up, The FedEx tracking consistently showed the boxes as never having been received by FedEx. When I called HelloFresh they did try to blame FedEx a few times, but I double checked with FedEx for our most recent missing box and they confirmed they never received it. HelloFresh has credited our account for the undelivered boxes but it is a huge annoyance to have to make alternate dinner plans for all those days that we planned to have HelloFresh. A 60% success rate for deliveries really isn't good enough and unfortunately I will need to start looking into alternate services.

I didn't realize how incredible Hello fresh was until I tried other meal delivery services. Package arrived nicely with no damage and within two days of delivery. All food was separated into bags with labels - meat was packaged separately. I canceled so I could try other food places. I am glad I did because I realized the quality of food and time they take to package their items. Food was excellent in flavor - It did take longer than expected to cook but that's because it challenged me to do things I hadn't done before. I was not raised cooking homemade - but this is actually a positive because I learned new ways to cook. Great quality of food - just would like it to be a little less expensive.
I was a first timer on Hello Fresh and thought I would try it out. Not a week went by, when I noticed a strange 146.00 charge on my account from hello fresh in less than a week. Turns out they send you what they want to, you don't pick, and they bill you 5 days before they ship the merchandise. This is in their terms and conditions and you will not be refunded, you will not be able to do anything. Canceling your account is another issue. You have to go through hell just to get that done as well. When I got my first order, the food that needed to be frozen was completely defrosted. Watch out for what you choose, because certain food items have higher prices. I learned the hard way, that it is worth the trip to the grocery store than to keep up with this. You don't know what you get and you never really know what you will be charged. Good Luck.
1. They immediately ask for your card information BEFORE seeing anything. 2. I cancelled the subscription b/c I didn't like the meals and didn't want to pay for them. 3. I STILL got charged for the meals. 4. Customer service hung up on me when I asked why I was still charged. (I called back obviously) 5. I canceled my subscription SECONDS after starting it bc it had already chosen my meals FOR ME… and "apparently"… I can't get money back bc policy is "once it's shipped out there is nothing they can do about the money"… okay but HOW was it "already shipped" if I cancelled SECONDS after subscribing. But then it still takes a whole week to get here? Makes no sense. I will never use hello fresh. Customer service is absolutely no help. The site is VERY confusing. You don't even get to see the meals before putting in your card information?!?! What kind of business is this. I DO NOT recommend
It's very very unclear that this is a weekly subscription plan, I canceled the delivery directly on the website once I noticed. And I still got charged and sent a box at an address I no linger even live at. Customer service is bad they don't give a $#*! about you.

If I can give a ZERO I would but review does not allow. I got an e it's and after the score was a promo stating "21 meals for free" from Hello Fresh so i decided to try it out. When I got to the end of my selections it asked for your credit card but o thought there would not be a charge only if I wanted to con't after my free trial. Trump out I was charged $36. I went back into the app to cancel the order and got a confirmation. A week later a box was sent to me which I don't know why bc I had already cancelled my order. Then I got my credit card statement showing the charge so I decided to call Hello Fresh to ask for a refund bc I had already canceled right when I ordered so it's not my fault that the system didnt pick up the cancellation. Anyhow I had to speak with a manager and they had called me back when I was not available. Their system sucks bc you have to call the Hello Fresh customer service and they will email the manager thru their system and there is not direct number to speak to a manager. So one of the rep said they will have the manager call back at a time good for me. No call back and I never got a hold of a manager. So I disputed the charge and somehow I was still in the wrong and doesn't make sense to me when I clearly cancelled the order less than 2 min after I clicked purchase! Hello Fresh has bad upper management service. Impossible to get a hold of someone. There was a deal at the time where I could get 21 meals for $35 but ge rep said since I already made then1st purchase they cannot change or modify order. So I guess they didn't want my business. I figured if I was going to be charge $36 for that order may as well just do the complete 21 order but they did not honor that. Therefore I don't recommend this company at all! Before you try their so call free 21 meals make sure you don't accident press complete your order without looking at the actual charge! Never doing business with this company. I already opt out of all their emails but for some darn reason they still send me email! STOP sending me emails!
So I got signed up just by looking at the site. I contacted immediately and was told it was refunded and stopped. Then I got charged again (without permission) three/four days later; they wouldn't refund it so I had to spend over 50 bucks on food I didn't want then I couldn't eat any of the meals because I have celiac disease and they don't even offer gluten free options. I was told it would be three meals. It was only 2 and they weren't the meals I was told I was getting. Their customer service reps kept trying to give me meals with gluten so then I gave up and sent the box to my brother.
My brother is a great cook. It was awful. He couldn't even eat it. So almost 60 dollars down the drain, horrible company, shady practices!
I got a postcard in the mail to restart my subscription at a very good price. I logged on to Hello Fresh, put in the coupon code, checked it out, decided it wasn't for me. I then got an email that said welcome back. I responded to the email that I did not come back, I do not want to be back, do not charge me, and do not send me a box. They charged me, sent me a box, and today I got another box for which they charged me regular price (not even the discounted code that I was sent). I called and spoke to them. They still don't have in my account that it is canceled. Even though I have the emails that verified I canceled. They refuse to credit back my card that they charged. I have reported them as fraudulent to my bank.
My daughter attempted to restart them and she was very dissatisfied. Many items were missing and meat items were coming spoiled. I will never ever use hello fresh again and I highly highly recommend no one else ever signs up for them.
Ridiculous customer service. I was charged incorrectly and received a box full of meals I don't even eat (I am vegetarian), and was told that there's nothing they can do because it's already been delivered.
They are charging me for food I have not received. DONT USE THEM. THEY OVER CHARGE. CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE THEY OVER CHARGE YOU
Over charged, we had a 40% off deal, but they changed the full amount and despite phoning, spending over an hour in an online chat and then emailing still no one has bothered to reply
Combined with Poor quality ingredients, half the vegetables arrived limp or actually rotten, the recipes use cheap chemically sauce's to mask any natural flavours, and the customer service is shocking. Unless you have a free box to use I certainly wouldn't recommend any one subscribes over priced, far too much plastic waste and second rate food
The food comes sorted with recipes, you can choose your preferences, and it tastes great! Easy to cook
There should be a class action lawsuit.
What they do is illegal. You cannot charge a customer and start shipping random food for simply logging in to the website. I had used them before a year or so ago before I moved out of state. Was considering starting again after receiving a promotional email.
Thursday evening I changed my password on their website logged in. I looking at the cost and decided maybe not yet. Friday morning I see a charge to my bank account. I NEVER WENT PAST THE CREDIT CARD SCREEN.
I called immediately to cancel. They told me I couldn't. The order would be delivered on Monday and any changes had to be made 5 days in advance now take note. That means I would have had to cancel before the fraudulent order was placed by them. They were shipping 4 meals to a house in another state that I sold a year ago. They wouldn't cancel the order or issue a refund.
Rip-off
I attempted to give this a try for the first time and it was a TOTAL disaster! The site was Not user friendly at all, wouldn't save my meal selections, couldn't customize anything, and when I tried to cancel the box and subscription I couldn't even talk to anyone for 48 hrs either through chat or on the phone, when the shipping confirmation on items I couldn't use and didn't want arrived.
When I FINALLY could talk to a CSR I got the same BS runaround that everyone else here has had. An unauthorized charge that can't be reversed on their end by design, and a lot more headache than the "convenience" of pre-established meals.
Run! Half of what we Would have enjoyed was "Sold Out", and anything else was prohibitively expensive to swap to, leaving us with a bunch of food that won't get half consumed from dietary needs/preferences. We are a household of Autistics and this was the WORST experience ever!
Receive a code from a friend to try it out. Everything is fine until I go to enter the card info, them BAM all of a sudden the code no longer works, but not to worry, they have other options for me, at 3TIMES THE COST OF THE COUPON I JUST HAD LOADED. SCAM SCAM SCAM buyer beware, shady business practices
Answer: I signed up and realised its a scam - your first order is only able to be placed 2 weeks away, meaning they get your money even if you use a coupon... and from other reviews they won't let you cancel. I just registered a voucher, saw the dates and tried to cancel... and can't - there is no "cancel" on their website
Answer: You will still have to pay for delivery and such because this company says those things cannot be covered by a gift card. Beware signing up, because they will subscribe you as soon as you enter credit card information. It is in their Terms and Conditions at the beginning of the process.
Answer: You're automatically on auto ship…any week you don't overtly cancel will get sent out and you'll get charged.
Answer: Nor really. They will want to give you a partial refund of the single ingredient you found to be of poor quality... and that's if you want to take the time to navigate the website to find out how to do it. Their website is totally designed to make customer service difficult.
