Love the presentation, love the shave cream (both smell and consistency).
Razors however leave much to be desired. The plastic around the blades is too bulky and as such I can't get above my lip all the way up to the bottom of my nose without contorting things considerably. I also often miss hairs in other hard to reach areas for the same reason (Don't experience this with other brand blades).
Also the blades themselves feel like nails on a chalkboard to my face. They may cut smooth and it comes with the territory (I see no difference in finished shave) but I find I'm often times shaving skin off instead of hair, especially around the Adams apple and other harder to shave areas. I also cut my face 1-2 spots at least every shave. FAR more often than any other shave method I've tried.
I really want to love this product for both presentation and price but I just can't continue to shave layers of my face off every time the razor is in my hand. I want to enjoy shaving not dread it.
Decided to try Harry's blades maybe six years ago. They were great. Then I ordered more only to find they have changed the housing that holds the blades. It's flimsier--less rigid--and bends when you apply pressure to shave which cuts your face. NOTE: Harry's has supplied us with two different housings stating they are the same. They are not! Believe it or not, the housings that have the "H" imprinted are the bad ones! The ones with no "H" are the good ones. Emailed and sent pics to Harry's but no reply.
First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to provide your input here. We updated our blades based off of feedback that we received from customers. All of our blades currently, are the exact same, and we respond to every single email that we receive, so we're so sorry to read this. Feel free to send us a private message, and we'd be happy to look further into this.
I used these blades for six months and they are very poor quality. After three uses they were useless. They cut my face every time I used them. It is a total rip off. My problem was I bought too many in the beginning. I hated wasting them but I could not stand them after a few uses. I was glad to go back to Costco and by some high quality blades.
Wish it could have worked out, but we understand that you've got to go with whatever gives you the best shave.
First, a razor, 3 blades and shaving cream for $15.00 - what a steal. Plus, awesome presentation w/packaging. I couldn't wait to try my "Truman." The razor has a design is flat, felt like I was shaving with a "putty knife." My first few passes w/the razor, I felt resistance. I suffered through and completed my shaved. Too much for friction for me. Felt I had to try this razor again (dreading it), using my shaving cream this time. Unfortunately, a lousy shave with skin burns followed. This is one of the WORST RAZORS I used in my 40 years of shaving. Guys, this isn't our excalibur. Keeping looking!
This is truly not the experience we want our customers to have, so we're so sorry! Just know that your review will be shared with our Research & Development team right away. Thank you for letting us know.
I've been a customer for a long time. It started out great then I heard Harry's was bought by someone (i assume Gillete) and the quality deteriorated right away. I
Could get 4 plus shaves per blade. Now a new blade is duller the first shave than an old one after 5.

We actually own our own factory in Germany, so no one owns us! We're so proud to control our entire business from the ground up, and send the blades directly to our customers. We're sorry it didn't last very long for you though, and we'll definitely let your thoughts be known.
Well, I've read through some of reviews on here and thought I would throw in my $0.02.
First the good:
I really liked the shape and feel of the handle. I bought one of the ordinary orange handles and really liked the feel and heft of it. It's kind of a bummer Gillette can't have a handle like this. I also really liked Harry's shaving gel and post shave balm. The trimmer blade is also a nice feature in an inexpensive razor.
The bad:
These razors are very overhyped. The main reason I purchased one is a guy I've known for a long time posted on facebook about how amazing these razors are. This guy has had a full beard since he was 14 and he's now 40. That and combined with a podcast I listened to, I decided to give these a shot. I'm not sorry I did, but they don't fit my shaving needs at all. The blades for me, are only good for about 4 good shaves. Which isn't bad considering I probably only shave 2-3 times per week. It shaved close enough, but it was pretty rough. Considering the reviews I've read raved about the smoothness I expected much better. While I liked the feel of the handle, the mechanism which attaches the handle to the blade needs improvement because the blade comes off almost by itself if you aren't careful. There have been people who say they are as good as Gillette's razors. In my experience this is 100% bull$#*!. The mach 3 Turbo is probably the BEST razor I've ever used and this razor doesn't even come close. I've heard the first generation razors were much better than the new ones so maybe the claim used to be true, but it isn't anymore. I bought 15 of the lower end Mach 3 Gillette's at Costco for about 30$ and they are much better than Harry's. The blades do rust, so if you buy some don't store them in your bathroom, assuming you shower in your bathroom. I've never seen a Gillette blade rust.
I wouldn't say don't buy these, but definitely test them out first. I think Harry's has a deal where you can get the handle and three razors for only $3 in shipping. Try it out and see if you like them. They didn't work for me, but they might for other people.
We so appreciate this review. We know that Harry's won't work for everyone, so all we ask is that guys give it a fair shot. Rest assured your feedback won't go unnoticed.
Everyone is different, and everyone needs something different. We designed Harry's to work for most guys, and we're always working on improving so it can work for EVERY guy. 8-10 shaves is the average lifespan of a Harry's blade, but we know it can be more, and we appreciate your patience. Thanks again for trying us out, and for your honest review.
Tried it out because I was tired of paying top dollar for razor blades. Used two razors to try and get use to them, about 6 shaves per razor. After the second shave I had to keep on passing over the same spot to try and remove all the hair which made my face raw. Even after numerous passes to try to get a close shave, my face still had patches that the razor wouldn't cut. Absolutely horrible! I' m going back to paying for Gillete. You get what you pay for.
So sorry to hear this. Experimenting with the angle at which you shave, plus adjusting the pressure tends to help. Nevertheless, we're so sorry that it wasn't a pleasing experience for you. Sometimes it can take a couple of tries to get used to, but we totally understand if you just need to go with something else.
Schick disposable razors give you a much better shave. It will take you five times as long to get a smooth shave. Incredible packaging though.
At the end of the day, you've got to use what's best for you. We just wish that it could be Harry's!
Theyre prices are the same as gillette but cheap blades... gillette is expensive but atleast its excellent quality! Its all about that money and trying to rip people off... smh
Thanks for your input here, Lorenzo. At $2 or less per blade, and with precision Swedish steel, our blades are of the highest quality. We're so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy them. We own our own factory, so the blades go straight to you with no middlemen involvement whatsoever, so we're definitely not trying to rip anyone off.
The blades used to be the best out there, they much have changed factories or not reinvested in new equipment. Now the blades are painful.
We actually haven't changed factories, Todd. As a matter of fact we own our own factory in Germany where the blades are made! So we control the entire blade-making process ourselves. We're sorry you're not getting the shave you desire though, we'll be sure to pass that along to our R&D team.
Not the worst blades I've ever shaved with, but close... didn't get a close shave and they cut me every day. Of the 3, I used them.
They also promise to email you prior to mailing the next batch of blades... nope. First thing I knew about blades coming was when my bank let me know I was over drawn... IF I had gotten the notice I could have cancelled it all... Now I want a full refund for both the "free trail", the blades I didn't want and the money the bank charged me for the overage.
Oh. And they don't answer their phones... seems the staff is all out of the office.
We're so sorry to hear this, Bruce. It certainly doesn't sound like us. Did you contact our help team? We're available anytime at [email protected], or at 888-212-6855 everyday from 10am - 6pm EST. We send an email for every order, it sounds like you might have signed up with the wrong email. Please contact us via that number or email, or send us a private message here. We're happy to help.
This has to be the biggest con out there. I assume they spent their budget on slick advertising, nice box and the handles, but not dime on the razors. 5 blades got about as close and comfortable as the dollar store single blades. Bic Flex 5 way out performs Targets Harry's. I would put this razor on the caliber of the Play-dooh razor my kids have, it has a nice handle too and both can shave clay off a fake bearded guy, neither gives a human a good shave
Hi Patrick- thank you so much for sharing your review here. We're sorry that it didn't work out for you. Our five-bladed cartridges are designed for a smooth and close shave, but we know that it can't work for everyone. Hopefully we'll have something for you in the future.
Sperm this is wat I get coming to India I ama proud canadian citizen n this is wat i get frm india banglore koramangala Harry's sucks to the core these bastard didn't let's me drink stating tht I look kido I mean wtf ama gay n bottom if i look kido tht not my $#*!ing problem the my horrmons
I purchased the Winston razor and accompanying blades for my fiancée, and upon being in a bind, used his razor on my legs and became hooked! Once I saw Target began carrying the brand, I bought multiple boxes, as we had become true fans of Harry's! Under no circumstances are here the same blades. The ones I purchased not only rusted after 1-2 uses, but I shaved a giant gash in my leg just above my ankle that had left me with an embarrassing scar atop of the trauma experienced when the event happened in the shower. For several days, any weight to that leg would cause bleeding. Regardless of the high quality of care I- and a family nurse provided- it became infected. I am embarrassed to wear shorts or skirts now as the result. Beware- do NOT buy these razors!
So sorry to read this, Miranda. We just sent you a private message regarding the matter.
HARRYS IS A JOKE. I RAN OUT OF BLADES AFTER MY TRIAL AND AFTER I ORDERED 8. I ATTEMPTED TO GET THEM TO ACCELERATE MY ORDER.
THEY SAID THEY WOULD FOR AN ADDITIONAL SHIPPING CHARGE OF $20.
I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DONT WASTE YOU MONEY ON A COMPANY THAT HAS NO CONCEPT OF CUSTOMERS.
The Free Trial does sign you up for a Shave Plan, but which can be cancelled or modified at any time at www.harrys.com/profile. If you want one-day shipping, we do have to charge extra for it, just like any order at any other company. If you don't mind waiting for economy shipping though, it is always free at $10 or over.
Well i have been using these blades for about a year now. Got more of them do not know why like the orange shave handle. The blades do not last after about two shades they are dull and you have to replace them quite often so you spend more money because you use more blades. I do not even think they give that great of a shave. And i nicked myself a few times with these blades they are cheap made. I kept using them because i thought just needed to get use to them not the case just junk. And the trimmer is a joke put it near your nose to try and trim under your nose like using a pair of tweezers and plucking the hair out so dangerous and does not work. These guys should be ashamed of them selfs any thing for a quick buck. The only thing they did and put most of the efforts it was packing pretty packed product nice boxes that is about the end of it. Do not buy them you will be sorry and i have used them for a year so not like i did not give them a chance going back to my fusion
Thanks for your feedback, Dave. We're so sorry that it didn't work out for you. Hopefully we'll have something for you in the future.
These blades are as good quality as their price, which is low. I used "the other company" for years - yes - Gillette. I would shave with the Harry's blades, brand new, and be left with stubble. I shaved with my Gillette fusion last night and it still feels like I just shaved - over 24 hours later. Harry's blades are the worst blades I have ever used. Not worth it at all. You will have to use 5 times as many blades as Gillette, and even then you won't get a close shave. Terrible
Oh yeah, and I've never cut myself more with any blade. These are absolute $#*!
We're truly sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you. Sometimes it just takes a little time to adjust to the differences in a new system: it often really helps to experiment with the angle at which you're holding the blade and the amount of pressure you're using (too much or too little). However, we also understand that at the end of the day you've got to use the blade that's best for you.
I've been a big fan of Gillette razors for many, many years but the cost has just gone out of sight. So I started using Harry's razors about 2 months ago. I had tried the blades from another shaving club program with disappointing results but the Harry's shaving experience for me has been fantastic. In my opinion, Harry's razors are as good as or better than Gillette at a fraction of the cost. And I really like their shave gel. It works well and smells like something a barber would use.
Just what we like to hear, Ron. Happy shaving!
I just got my Harry's starter kit in the mail. Everything about the packaging wreaks of manliness and simplicity. The shave was close and so comfortable. Almost felt "soft ". The price is considerably lower than my Gillette. And I felt the shave was much better. All in all A+. My face is baby smooth and my bravado is gentlemanly. Enjoy!
Amazing- thanks so much for sharing, Brian! We're thrilled it worked out.
Instead of gliding like a Gillette proglide this razor more like drags across you skin. And in certain areas take several passes to equal the smoothness of a Gillette. The blade is also not as wide as a Gillette and the trim blade is very sharp and rigid. No way one blade lasts 5-7 shaves. The shave gel is a nice product and the website was impressive. It makes it very easy to to do a trial and cancel in time without getting a blade shipment.
With proper care and maintenance, most blades can last for about 8-10 shaves. This involves storing the blade in a dry area and keeping it away from moisture. Nonetheless, we're sorry that it didn't work out for you. If there's anything you need at all, let us know at [email protected]!
Answer: Great question, Tony! Blade lifespan will definitely vary a bit based on your particular hair type, shave schedule, and blade care habits. While there's no exact standard for how long a cartridge will last you, we find that the average person likes to replace blades every 6-8 shaves. The idea is that our blades are durable and will last a long time, at a great price.
Answer: The new blades are not as smooth as the old ones and you cannot buy the old ones anymore.
Answer: Absolutely! There are lots of women who use our razors so we'd definitely encourage you to give them a try.
Answer: I had a problem with that when I first got them and found out that I wasn't pusing them on the handle far enough. Also if you hold too close to the blade and choke up on the handle too much your fingers tend to push the blades off. When I held back further on the handles... no worries. Since I changed those two things, I don't have that problem.
Answer: Because when they changed the design of the blade by adding the trimmer, the blade lost its smooth shaving quality, life of the blade and no burn feeling. Now it burns after the shave, blade does not last that long and all you are left with is a cheap blade. If they bring back there 1st generation blades back, I will be the first one to buy them and give back my business to Harry's for LIFE!

Shaving is evolving. Never buy overpriced razors again. Get Harry's German engineered blades and shaving cream online for a fair price.

We completely understand, Jason. Shaving should for sure be an enjoyable experience, and we're so sorry to hear it's not going that way for you. We did re-design our blades last year based on customer feedback, so rest assured it is all taken very seriously here. Your words won't be forgotten, and hopefully we'll have something that's more your style in the future.
