I really wanted to get along with this razor, great razor handle design, great marketing but sadly I can't get a close enough shave even after 3 passes in different directions first with the growth direction second across and third against. So back to my old 5 blade razor.
Like many - I was taken in by the slick marketing and promise of saving £££ on my shaving. The product is AWFUL.
The shave is not close enough at all. Still have stubble after shaving which you cant remove. Cant shave under bottom lip or under nose due to poor blade angles. Terrible! Same goes for Bold King.
There is an unguarded trimmer blade on the top of the blade unit. If you move the razor backwards towards your ear when shaving beneath the ear, or your nose when shaving the top lip you a have a good chance of cutting yourself badly. It should be on the front, pointing downwards like the other blades, to make it safe. Better still, get rid of it completely. The rubber handle gets quite slick and slippery when coated with shaving gel (as is inevitable). Overall, flawed and dangerous design, which is a shame because otherwise it gave a good close shave.
I have odd facial hair where if I don't shave twice a day, it shows, I can use the Harry Razor and it is good for 24 hours, I get 15-20 days out of a blade, my Gillette razor gets 10-12 days at shaving twice a day, price of blades are re much cheaper and last longer.
Like many previous reviewers, I too had the expectation that this fabulous marketing campaign, highlighting cutting-edge (pun intended) German manufacturing would produce a superior shaving product. It was a delight to receive and open the packaging and read the irreverent copy of how cool this company is and how much we're going to enjoy using this new razor.
I have shaved 3 times with the Harry and sadly, cannot recommend the blade. I did not receive any cuts, but the shave was not close at all. I was left with stubble on my chin and neck even after going over the area multiple times. The shave is simply not close.
Harry's suggests changing the angle of my shave - OK, maybe I'll give that a try over the weekend and see if I adjusting my technique produces a better outcome. If I can figure that out, the savings would be considerable.
However I am sceptical. This morning I reverted to Gilette using a month-old blade and had a perfectly close shave.
Haryry's - get your product right, charge 10% more and we'll all win.
I was cut deeply and badly while trying to shave with a new HARRYS DEFECTIVE BLADE!
The blades were sent as per usual from HARRYS DIRECT TO ME
Unfortunately they made a defective one were etch actual blades were skew and too tightly packed together which caused severe and serious cut s into my skin as i made the first strokes in to my facial hair.
I was in schlock and couldn't fathom what was going on as the blood dripped from my face in rapid time.
The Original blade design was Fantastic. Sorrily they ruined it with their new design. Also the blade on the back has cut me several times. What a shame..
Great concept but poorly executed. The first couple shaves were OK... after that the razor turned dull and tugged at my beard. When I called Harry's to cancel my plan, the guy who answered said "yeah, we hear that quite often." He also suggested I change the shaving angle..."I've been shaving for over 40 years" I told him! I've done a side by side vs Gillette... I got many more shaves with the Gillette than with Harry's. Don't be fooled by their ads guys!
So, like so many others I sought an alternative to expensive multi-blade razors. Having seen many of the $1 shave club ads as well as at least as many for Harry's, I made the decision to give it a try. I took the big plunge and ordered the best kit with 16 replaceable razor heads. Shipping was quick and problem free. My face and beard hated me. The shaving gel and the aftershave gel were both great. However, the razors were dull. I've pulled hair from my face for over 3 months. I'm glad they are all gone, finally! If the blades are improved to the sharpness of Gillette Fusion then I'd go back. I liked the price much better but one can only endure so much abuse. Stay away!
Target had an offer for a while where you bought a Harry's razor and had to use an included code to get 4 free blades. Turned out that you had to subscribe to the blades being delivered to get the "free" blades.
At the end of the day I get more miles out of regular "high priced" blades than Harry's.
I love the idea of the little company that could... I'm just not going to have a "blade subscription" and feel taken advantage of in the 4 free blades but only if you subscribe garbage. Not free at all.
I purchased 32 blades on 7/24 on 8/10 I still had not received my shipment. I contacted Harry's and Julio was very apologetic, stating they would get another shipment out immediately and refund my purchase price in full within 3 to 10 days. 15 days later I had not received a refund. I contacted Julio 8/25 and was told when I receive the product to return it and they would then give me a refund. I was a VP of logistics for over 30 years and would never treat a customer with such utter disrespect and out right lie to them. I will never purchase product from Harry's again. I will also tell as many people as possible that this is a terrible company to deal with.
Great company. The employees are great to work with. Please buy from them you won't be sorry. M. Landrum
Thanks for the love! Glad to hear it's working out for you.
It seems that for many Harry's wasn't the right choice, but for me it was great. I've been shaving since I was 16 and shaving my head daily since 1985. This first shave with Harry's was the best shave I have ever had, bar none, and I've tried them all. What remains is to see if the blades they send match up to the free trial blade and to see how long each blade lasts. I usually get a couple of weeks out of blade so time will tell, but for right now I'm sold.
Heard all the hype and decided to make the plunge. Lucky for me I went with a Target product rather than a website membership! First time use and I felt like that sixteen year old learning all over again. The razor tore me up. Felt almost like it was ripping the hair out of my face rather than shaving it off. I have never hated a shave so much in my life. I'll pay the extra overpriced if it means I'm not filleting my skin off!
Sorry to hear that. Sometimes it can take a couple of different tries to really get the hang of it- adjusting the angle at which you hold the handle and using a lighter blade pressure all help. Nonetheless, sometimes it's just not going to be the and we completely understand if that's the case.
Agree with comments about trial blades being good and replacements of low quality. Developed skin rash from using them. Always had stubble where I didn't nick myself. Shipping was ok. Back to national ripoff brand where at least high priced shave is reliable.
If you developed any sort of rash after the fact, please inform our team at [email protected]. We're happy to share any photos with our Research & Development team to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Went for the trial package was shipped 7/26 still not here, continues to be rerouted. When you call they try so hard to overlook the fact, that how it is shipped never gets there in time. Will not recomend to anyone. So cancel your Shave plans its not worth the headache. Cust want the product not the stress. "Harry get it together"
That doesn't sound like us- please let our team know at [email protected] or 888-212-6855 and we'll get another one off to you immediately.
I gave in to the hype. I liked the German factory stories. I loved the endorsements. The reviews are great. So I switched. I regret my choice. I wanted very much to like this product but finally admitted that it was a good shave for the first few shaves but then went steadily down hill very quickly.
When the second blade rusted I just had to realize that I was a fool to give up my excellent shaving experience (Gillette Fusion) for these marketing geniuses. My overwhelming question is what all these reviewers were using to shave before they tried Harry's in order to love it so much? A rock? Clam shell? Pen knife?
Thanks for letting us know. We're always working on improving our products, so any helpful feedback you have is of great importance to our team here.
I had been using Harry's for about 2 years now. After 20 years of shaving my head, in the last 2 months these Harry razor have cut the crap out of my head. The first time, I thought, fluke, cuts happen, (though it was a bad cut, flap of skin). Two days ago, another really bad cut to the back of my head. Like I said, I've been shaving my head since I started balding at 19,20 years ago. Going back the expensive razors that never took chunks of skin.
We are so, so sorry to hear this! Please let our team know right away at [email protected] so we can get you taken care of. We’re working on developing products for head shaving but in the meantime, we recommend that you only use Harry’s blades for the purpose they were designed for: to shave your face.
I too was taken in by the tantalizing promise of a great shave at a much cheaper price than the Gillette Fusion Pro Glide! Before I ordered, I checked out reviews and all I saw was effusive praise, so when it arrived and I didn't love it, I thought the problem was me!
I tried to convince myself that the shave was as good as a Gillette blade that I had used a couple of times. Honestly, the shave is not as close or comfortable as a Gillette blade that was at its end-of-life. I shave 3x a week - not that I have light growth, but I work from home. Lol.
I was accustomed to being able to shave downwards on my neck and chin with a single stroke and get a close shave with no irritation whatsoever. With Harry's, it looked like the elevator scene from "The Shining" if I shaved downwards! I had to shave upwards 3 times and still wind up with stray hairs.
I allowed the first order of 8 blades past the trial to be shipped because I thought I just needed time to adjust. I kept thinking back to all the great reviews - the reviews totally gaslighted me! I thought I was crazy! Now I realize that they were all obviously compensated reviews.
Finally, I gave it some rational thought. I've resisted making a decision to save $100/month by switching from Comcast to FIOS because of 2 small but very nagging deficiencies with FIOS for my purposes. But here I am putting myself in physical pain to try and save a few dollars on razors! I bought some Fusion Pro Glides and realized that the difference was comparable to the difference between Spam and Filet Mignon!
Rather than cancelling, I've been pushing back their shipments month after month. I'll tell the truth: I couldn't figure out how to cancel on their mobile site! I'm going on the computer and finally canceling today! I don't know what it says about me psychologically that I was giving positive (obviously compensated) reviews a greater weight than my own physical experience!
Really sorry to hear that you're having a hard time using our app. We suggest reaching out to our help team at [email protected] so you can get your plan properly cancelled. We'll also share this feedback with engineering team. We certainly don't want anyone to have any trouble with canceling their plan.
As is the case with so many others here, I found the new blade design to be unusable. I used Harry's for two years before the switch to the "trimmer" design. They were fantastic blades. The new ones are as bad as the old ones were great!
Really sorry to hear this, Rusty. What about them was so bad? We'd love more of your feedback.
Answer: Great question, Tony! Blade lifespan will definitely vary a bit based on your particular hair type, shave schedule, and blade care habits. While there's no exact standard for how long a cartridge will last you, we find that the average person likes to replace blades every 6-8 shaves. The idea is that our blades are durable and will last a long time, at a great price.
Answer: The new blades are not as smooth as the old ones and you cannot buy the old ones anymore.
Answer: Absolutely! There are lots of women who use our razors so we'd definitely encourage you to give them a try.
Answer: I had a problem with that when I first got them and found out that I wasn't pusing them on the handle far enough. Also if you hold too close to the blade and choke up on the handle too much your fingers tend to push the blades off. When I held back further on the handles... no worries. Since I changed those two things, I don't have that problem.
Answer: Because when they changed the design of the blade by adding the trimmer, the blade lost its smooth shaving quality, life of the blade and no burn feeling. Now it burns after the shave, blade does not last that long and all you are left with is a cheap blade. If they bring back there 1st generation blades back, I will be the first one to buy them and give back my business to Harry's for LIFE!
