Ordered on Jan. 28th 2021... Just got the bulk of the order... 5-19-2021... still waiting on sweet corn seed and some pepper plants. They sent the sweet potato plant to me a month ago... planted immediately... all died. This place is such a $#*!show... wanted to start my pepper seed and tomato seed inside... call about the order to at least send me those 2 seed packets and they refused... was talking to the hindu hotline... no place to complain or contact someone of authority on the web site... I will never ever use this place again... never!
I ordered strawberries and a tiered strawberry lanter. The planter kept going on backorder until I finally canceled. All of the other items shipped later also. Customer service was non existent, they just read a script and were not helpful at all. Will not be ordering from them again, so sorry I trusted them with this growing season!
We ordered many items for our garden on March 12. Credit card was charged, and estimated delivery was in April. Just checked on our order (5/17/21) because we had yet to receive one single item, and delivery is now not available until June 1 - June 14, and many items are on backorder. We live in a very time-sensitive area with a short growing season. Canceled the order, but now probably won't be able to find the seeds locally because all are sold out. We've purchased through Guerney's in the past with good results, but never will again.
Sadden by the lack of integrity. Due to no longer available and credit I was informed they can only refund the additional cost I paid. The bean tower backorder 4 times, if you cancel they want refund entire dollar amount. Warning! 5 months delay!
This is not the Gurney's from a decade ago. They used to have great quality plants and seeds and excellent customer service. After they were bought out by some mega-corporation, they became rude, dismissive, and don't care about the quality of their stuff. I placed an order in February and they took my money right away but never shipped part of the order. They kept stringing me along claiming items were back ordered and then finally in May said the item was out of season and offered a partial refund. I will never order from them again. I recommend that if you get emails from them, mark them as spam and never buy anything from them.
There is no way that an item 6 hrs away should take 5+ days to deliver... free or not you need to devise a better plan for your shipping or use a better company... this was supposed to be a mother's day gift
There's a reason gurneys rating is in the 60s!
6 tomato plants were 10 days in transit. Were bone dry, not 1 viable leaf, very puny. Called customer service April 30th and service rep said she'd credit my discover card, but refunded my $38.97 with a coupon which could only be used at gurneys instead. Emailed customer service with photos on may 4, and resent email on 5th. No reply yet and it's the 7 th. Called customer service again today and insisted they credit my card. This will take 3-5 business days.
Gurney, please clean up your customer service division, and try using an American based customer service work force.

Gurney did not send my order in a timely manner. I sent them an email asking them to cancel my order because of this, and without any response they sent the order out. I had already purchased peas as they had to be planted earlier -- but the still sent the order along with other items I had requested canceled the VERY NEXT day after my cancellation request. It seems a bit strange that they had indicated some items would not be shipped for 2 more weeks, but miraculously were shipped when I asked for a cancellation. Lost a customer Gurneys.
Gardening is a release for my boyfriend and he takes pride in what we plant every year. We usually order from Jung's, but Gurney's sent us their catalog earlier and had a huge coupon if we ordered early. My boyfriend has had a couple of jobs impacted by the pandemic, so we decided to take advantage of this coupon. BIG MISTAKE! First of all, they charged me immediately, so I expected that when it was the right time for our zone I'd get the whole order. I got part of it, a lot of seeds, and that was fine. My next shipment was for garlic and strawberry plants. We paid $5 for garlic and got ONE bulb. I could have gone to Kroger and paid 50 cents for the same thing. I paid $14.99 for a pack of strawberry plants. I got a bag of dirt with no sign of plants in it. Now, I am waiting for my blackberry plant. It was shipped on 4/22 by FedEx. No sign of it, and the FedEx tracker only lists it as IN TRANSIT. At this point, it will no doubt arrive dead and I will have to wage war with them to get a refund. I tried to cancel the rest of my order and they would not let me. It's for spinach and carrot seeds and it's going to be too warm to plant them soon. I ended up having to go buy plants at the local nursery, which will be my go to from now on. They had a lot better inventory, better prices and better customer service. I'll only order from Gurney's again if I am desperate or senile. If there were Zero stars as an option I would have selected it.
If I could give this company a zero rating I sure would. Was shorted 10 strawberry plants. Ordered a blueberry bush it came just laying in box completely dried out a brittle stick. Have never been so disappointed in a company. Customer service was a complete waste of time. After repeating myself 6 or 7 times he just didn't know had to consult his supervisor then disconnected what a surprise. Never again last 80.00 dollars you will get from us.
Ordered in Feb for 2 different packs of seeds. I got one pack but as now 0n 19th april spring still waiting for the other said was back ordered don't think I will get.
We ordered seeds and plants, which were to arrive the end of March. Middle of April and still nothing. So much for their guarantee. Will never order again from gurneys.
Some of my items have not been shipped and the growing year is passing by. Can not see status nor do they respond to email communications.
Ordered all my garden seeds over three weeks ago as to start garden indoors for transplanting. Still no seeds have arrived. Next year, I'll order seeds from China, they are much faster. Oh yes,. I only live 200 miles from Gurneys too.
This company has turned into a disaster. I ordered seeds 8 wks ago, still no seeds. They have ruined my plans for gardening for this year by not sending seeds promptly.
Customer service? LOL, Could not get any help from them.
I WILL NEVER use them again. Stay clear of this company if you expect any type of service or seeds sent out in a timely manner. Very bad, very bad indeed
I ordered some vegetable plants in January. My credit card was charged supposedly so they could hold my order. Now it's April and I find out that some of the things I ordered are out of stock and won't be in until after my planting times. Now I have to scurry around to local nurseries to try and find what I need. This happened last year as well but I thought it was because of the pandemic so that is why I ordered so early this year.
I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN.
I purchased a 10 pack of asparagus crowns from gurney, and they only sent 5 in the package. Either they have dumb illiterate American employees, or illiterate illegal immigrants doing the counting. I mean we are the only counting up to 10 here. How do you mess that up. I can't reach gurney on the phone to help them correct the ai problem. Mean while I have already dug out the trench to plant for 1O. How incompetent can a big company be? Their website is so lame you can't even post a pic. Never order from this company if you are looking for quality service.
I wish I looked up reviews prior to my large order. I live in Pittsburgh and start my seeds beginning of April but not getting my order till mid to late May. I put in a complaint but still haven't heard back
Maybe I got lucky, but I ordered twice from Gurney's and they were not bad experiences. The first time I ordered a peach tree and it came perfectly packaged, in good timing and the instructions were simple and easy. My peach tree is growing strong two years later with no issues. It is just as resilient as it was advertised. The second time I ordered a pack of variety roses, and 3/5 thrived. Gurneys was good for me, but I can only vouch for my peach tree and roses.
Answer: Phone call the wait is moderate. However they just read from a script so are not helpful. I requested to speak to a manager. One wasnt available so the rep said one would call me by end oaf day. Of course I never got a call back from a manager.
Answer: It use to be a good company, now it seems like they don't care about quality.
Answer: Johnny's Selected Seeds is great for seeds. They are always tested for viability and the company is employee-owned. https://www.johnnyseeds.com/
