SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE! Never had such a bad customer service experience in my life. So many phone calls, countless emails, all ignored or brushed off with one line answers, all to get a refund of over £100 for a faulty product. The other company agreed to the refund immediately but Groupon still wouldn't refund, no replies to my countless messages. 5 weeks later still no explanation as to no refund, even the other company who sold the items where baffled. In the end the other company had to refund me as Groupon customer service failed to even reply or refund. DO NOT USE GROUPON UNLESS YOU ARE READY NOT TO GET A REFUND.
I have spent hundreds on Groupon in the past but have not used it since nor have anyone I know since I have warned them about Groupon's shady behaviour.
Would have given them 0/10 but this site has 1 star as the lowest score.

I have to add that this is my experience with Groupon.co.uk The United kingdom Groupon not USA. Perhaps the USA side of Groupon appreciates their customers more!

Groupon is a trusted site of mine. If you can put up with multiple daily emails, it's worth it. You may have to delete a lot of emails/deals that come through but that you don't need, but it's worth it when they post a deal that's relevant to you.

They offer at least 1/2 off on everything -- from food, spas, salons, clothes, adventures, event and movie tickets, even trips. They have a new feature now, called Groupon Now, that offers good deals that are available as soon as you purchase and expire within the day -- perfect for last minute lunch plans or a quick car wash.

All in all, definitely worth scoping out for gifts or for items that you would normally buy at full price anyway. A bonus to get things you wouldn't normally splurge on, but can afford at half off!

Had good experiences..
November 3, 2014

Had good experiences. Until I had a PROBLEM! I have purchased and returned from this site many times in the past without issue - if item didn't fit etc wasn't the sites problem BUT now that I spent a $150 on an item that didn't arrive as described and with missing parts I have tried to reach customer service to NO AVAIL. I was promised an initial response in 24 hours hours but stated they usually respond in less than 4,,, well over 30 + hours for mine and then there their answer was. Send pics of the defective item ---- ok fair... I did SO 2 DAYS AGO still NO response. I am giving them 24 hours before I dispute charge with credit card... what a waste of my time! I shop a lot of sample sites and I have had NO or little issue with their customer service on bad or defective items or returns. First and as far as I'm willing shop LAST bad experience I want with this site!

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us here on SiteJabber. I apologize for this issue and will be happy to help resolve it. It's possible that the agent you were working with may have been out of the office for the weekend when you responded. I apologize if that is the case but we do only have an initial response time but updated incidents are typically handled by the same agent who started working with you.

I'd love to help you resolve this issue and see if we can get a replacement sent to you or issue a refund if it is no longer available. Please provide me with your order number and, if you have it, the incident number in which the photos were sent, and I'll make sure to provide a resolution for you. From time to time if the photos were sent in a large file, the agent may not have received it due to the size of the attachment but I'll be glad to look into this and find out what happened.

I'm very sorry for this delay and look forward to helping you resolve this issue.

Best,

Much like this site, they make you register to view stuff. Unlike this site, they make it hard to unsubscribe. They seem to want to create a huge customer base/ mailing list - maybe to make themselves look beter as a company when marketing to vendors, like they reach more people. So whenever you want to view the site, you have to "sign up" with an email address. I must have signed up 20 times already. Fortunately only one was a real address cause unsub is a pain to locate. Just wanted to see what they're all about. The stuff is superfluous crap that I'd not really want to buy, or resort/entertainment deals with a lot of fine print. Prices are jacked up too, so that it looks like you're getting 50% off, when it's more like 20. But if you like wining and dining and massages and things, and don't care for word of mouth or doing your own bargain hunting, this could work for you.
It is nice in a catalog sort of way, like to get ideas on what to buy. But I'm going to leave it at that and shop outside of the site.
PS When signing up, *******@your.mom and all variations thereof are already taken.

The selection is great and sometimes you can find some really good deals. I ordered two sweaters and a tube scarf, which was shipped pretty promptly- however, my local post office lost the packages somehow, so now I am dealing with trying to find them or get my money back (personally I would really like to somehow get the items I ordered over getting my money back because I know I got great deals.) I spoke with an ideeli customer service representative online who put in a claim to the post office and I also talked to the post office multiple times. Everyone has been really nice, but over a week later I still have no idea what happened to my packages (isn't it weird that both disappeared?) and have not received a refund.

Every order with every credit card i have had has been cancelled by the site. It always tells me pending authorization, and to add a new card. When i do add yet another new card, the same thing constantly happens. I gave up after my third attempt at buying something failed. This site is ridiculously bad, stay away!

I read all the reviews here and I feel for Jason F! Hang-in-there Jason.

I'm a member since 2010. Please know that I had my fair share of issues with ideeli.com. The way I look at it, this is a young company with tonnes of potential and all the "kinks" we are experiencing right now is common with new business. The most important thing is ideeli.com continues to evolve and takes customers' comments and feedbacks seriously. I suggested an idea and I see changes made. That's what keeps me going back to the site.

Yesterday I received a pair of boots I ordered from ideli.com. Item arrived with a defect on which the decorative pull on the heels was broken. I love the boot so much and I sent in an email enquiring for a replacement instead of being on a waitlist for the next sale. Jessica from the customer service team sent back a very nice reply advising that they don't store item in stock. I should be mad because I'm expecting a brand new merchandise free of defect which I can enjoy this Thanksgiving right?... but... Jessica and the entire customer service team at ideeli.com shock and humbled me with their unexpected solution. They refunded my entire purchase price to my credit card (note that they divert from their normal return policy, they are not offering me store credit but refunded my monies!). To top it off they let me keep the the boots. I know a lot of you may not think that it is a great solution since it is a defective merchandise... but for myself... I did not expect that answer at all. The fact that they try all within their means to make me a happy customer is enough to make me a loyal customer for life.

The effort counts the rest is only things we have hanging around! To ideeli.com team keep up the good work!

Groupon's main website page touts the following:

"OUR PROMISE TO YOU:
Nothing is more important to us than treating our customers well.

If you ever feel like Groupon let you down, give us a call and we'll return your purchase – simple as that."

This statement is false, Groupon won't return your purchase if it goes wrong, as they claim. Instead they make excuses as to how this particular offer isn't covered for whatever reason.

Groupon won't stand behind it's promise with my purchase of a tiny, mis-represented, ManGrate Cast Iron Grill Grate. The picture showed a full size large grill, with a grate covering that grill - what I received is a tiny grate that you couldn't even cook a single burger on.

Shame on you Groupon with your meaningless, broken promises!

I never received my shipment from ideeli, even though it was 'delivered' according to UPS tracking. The customer service gave me generic responses for nine days and in the end, all I receive after a "technical team investigation" is that the order was delivered - "Please let us know if you want us to contact the shipping company". Seems like they did not see my complaint at all - the shipping company should've been contacted a week ago!
I have bought from ideeli before and have received shipments on time and the products were satisfactory too. This is the first time I had to contact their customer service and they were very slow and unsatisfactory.

Groupon is very reputable, especially in comparison to the many copycats on the market. There reputation enables them to offer deals with better vendors. I especially like their customer service. They responded quickly and, when I explained that I let some certificates expire without being used, they quickly refunded the money. Thanks.

I have ordered three times from this site. Apparently, that was two too many. My first ordered went fine. I then ordered a sweater and sunglasses from the site, and it has been well over a month. Still the items have not been delivered. The delivery was suppose to be completed by now, but the status simply says that UPS was directed by ideeli.com to hand over the shipment to the US postal service. How can that possibly make sense? Ideeli.com has no way to actually speak to a customer service representative, the live chat support is useless, rude and not helpful, and I've sent an email which has yet to receive a response. I made a third order shortly after the second, and neither order has shipped. I do a lot of on-line shopping and will not use this site again. A customer should have the ability to speak to someone live if necessary. A customer should also be able to get items on-time, as promised, especially since its the customer who is paying to ship the items. The only reason this site got two stars is because the selection and prices are great. However, you purchase items at the risk of getting them whenever they want to ship them, with no recourse whatsoever, or not getting them at all and having to deal with your credit card company. Overall, its a huge disappointment.

I purchased 2 massage vouchers from Groupon.com.au. It listed three phone numbers to call to book the massage. 2 wks after receving the voucher, I decided to book the massage. Two of the three telephone numbers have been cancelled. The third number says they are too busy to answer the call, and to leave a message. I have left multiple messages. They do not reply. I think it is likely that the business may not exist in the first place, and that they have listed with Groupon. Then when they have received 50% of the total payment from Groupon after the conclusion of the deal they shut up shop (if they were ever open in the first place) and have just pocketed many thousands of dollars. I expect many other "new" businesses to do the same, and therefore the number of these scams are going to keep increasing. All i have to do is register a business name, have an address, set up the groupon deal, and pocket the money and close up shop.

I bought a Groupon for "dinner for four" at a local restaurant. I took my wife there for dinner and they refused to honor the Groupon since there were only two people physically present. Nowhere in "The Fine Print" did it state that four people MUST be physically present -- the limitation on how much food you can order is the same. I contacted Groupon and they flat-out refused to give me a refund, only a credit which I'm far less happy about since I would not use them again. No matter how you choose to interpret the technicalities, it's clear that Groupon does not put the customer first, as they like to claim. You could save some money with Groupon and have a good experience, or have to deal with some frustrations in having your Groupon honored (there are plenty of stories far worse than mine out there) and then having to deal with stubborn customer support. Just know what you're getting into.

I have several issues with the seat and not all of them are their fault.

1. I have purchased several groupon vouchers that I did not end up using, I
Thought I had plenty of time when as time went buy I forgot about them and
Since they expired there was no refund.
2. All the spa treatments I purchased were bogus, they raised prices and gave
You less of a treatment if you had a GO.
3. Many times I have had excessively long waiting periods to get appointments,
If I had paid for the treatments I could get in within a few weeks.
4. Many of the vendors have shown a lack of appreciation for GO customers.

Id rather get a negotiate my own discount then buy a GO so i can get proper service. I had a vendor tell me that with GO they only get. 25 for very $1.00 because. 50 goes to GO and the rest is their cost. What business can survive long like that, no wonder some are a little snappy.
On a positive note buying vouchers that can be manipulated because everyone gets the same thing no matter what they pay (restaurants, haircuts tours etc...)are good deals assuming you use them.

I ordered two coats on 9/30/11 which was charged to my credit card but untill today there is no sign of package being delivered. I contacted Ideeli on 10/23/11, first the CS Rep stated that the package had been delivered. When I gave her the tracking number, she stated that the package had been delivered in July. Wake up! I ordered the coats in September.
Apparently the tracking number Ideeli provided was not correct.
It is a nightmare, I have wasted hours calling UPS and USPS to track the package, but in vain. Both tell me to contact Ideeli, when I call Ideeli, they tell me to call UPS.
Facts: 1. I was charged $289.93 was a product that still has not been delivered.
2. I was promised delivery within 10 Days for which I paid $9.95.

This is not acceptable.

My initial reaction when discovering Groupon was this must be scam. Discounts which sometimes exceed 90% surely is too good to be true. However, I have since determined that this isn't the case. There is still some question marks over how Groupon gets such good discounts and still manages to make money but I can see three reasons why. Firstly Groupon can presumably get discounts through bulk buying, secondly many companies must offer to give discounts to Groupon in exchange for the publicity and finally some money must be made from people who purchase activities off of the website and then don't use them.

Sure Groupon may have some good deals (after they rip off the merchant that is providing that deal), but once in a while, they make mistakes in the terms of the deal, and then try to cover it up later by changing the terms even after people have purchased it.

I've had this happen to a recent deal that I purchased. The terms were changed on the Groupon AFTER I had purchased it. It is obvious what had happened just from reading the Question and Answer page for the deal, where most of the concern is the term that was changed. Other customers on the same page had comments such as: "Hi! I bought this groupon maybe 2 hours ago, and I'm pretty sure the guidelines didn't include the "sun-thurs visits only" until now when i checked the site again. Why is there a sudden change in requirements that wasn't in place when I bought the groupon initially? And it looks like the question above me asked about the Fri/Sat usage and someone from Groupon replied that it is valid for fri/sat visits (and didnt comment about the $20 surcharge)... ".

Reading some of the other reviews of Groupon, it's not the first time that it has happened:
http://www.missmouthy.com/2011/03/09/groupon-buyers-beware/
http://www.hellopeter.com/take2takealot/complaints/changing-the-fine-print-on-a-groupon-offer-*******
http://www.retaildoc.com/blog/groupon-worst-marketing-business/

In the end, I sent an email to Groupon's customer service and they will probably refund it, but changing the terms on a deal hoping that people won't notice their original mistake is just plain shady. Shame on Groupon!
