Why is this company even aloud to be operating? This company don't deserve not even a one-star rating! I needed to purchase 2 prepaid gift cards for my children's field trip. I went to a local grocery store thinking it is just a regular gift card. This company is horrible forcing people to open checking accounts. When you are activating a card, it asks you for your social security information and it will not allow you to activate the card unless you do so and when you do it they automatically open a checking account for you and send you a debit card. I was not even aware of that until I finished activating the card. Then they state that a fee is applied of $1.50 for every debit card transaction. The card was used as regular gift card transaction as credit, but it charged $1.50 for each transaction!
I hope someone shuts down this scammer company!
They have racked up a bunch of maintenance charges on my name. Nope that's a scam. They need sued. I'm not laying random charges stacking up. They can just stack up.
You go to chat and as soon as chat opens up it says chat has ended and wait time on the phone or trying to get a rep on the phone is impossible
I opened a account with them to help with making sure that my spouse would have access to an account that was not tied to our main account due to him working out of the country and this bank tried to say that our account was fraud and this really has pissed me off because they blocked the card first and then I called and sent in all the information that they asked for and therefore I was checking weekly to see what was going on with that account and here it is 7/24/2023 the lady finally says that the account was closed on July 6th and they stated that is was a fraud account and that I could no longer open another account with them. I advise anyone DO NOT USE THEM.
I was a customer for 10 years. At first they blocked my account for suspicious behavior. I sent my id and they unblocked my account for 3 days and blocked it again. I sent my id again but this time they closed my account without reaching out or any explanation. I know for a fact that there was no suspicious activity on my end. I have $5,299 in that account and can't get in touch with anyone. I've emailed them, called and waited on the phone for hours just to have someone say ok let me put you on hold just to hang up after an additional 20 minutes on hold. In the meantime my bills aren't getting paid, I'm running out of food and gas and greendot doesn't care. Worst experience ever. If I didn't have to give them a star trust me they would get zero. My next step is getting a lawyer because I refuse to let them keep my money
I received two cards in the mail that I did not order. There is no on on the phone to talk to and no way to use chat unless you sign up to activate the cards. They have an option to press if you believe you are a victim of identify theft, but you will stay on hold and the call is never answered. I have no idea how i got the cards and i have no way to have them closed out. I am so incredibly frustrated!
I thought I could trust them at first but when it came down to it they kept freezing my account over and over again. Finally, they froze it when I had 3k left and they would not give me MY money out of MY account! I am retaining an attorney now!

I feel like this green that is a scam. They're very unprofessional have the worst customer service I ever have experience I had my text return sent that court. It's been sitting on green dots is the 28th of last month. It is now the 14th of the next month And I still cannot use the cart. They placed it back on the car for no apparent reason when I called the office to ask why were there a block on the card they reply was it was fraudulent activity, which was a lie. I went to go withdraw some money from 7-Eleven and there was a black on the card. I called the office verified myself and asked if the black be lifted. They told me it's gonna take 48 hours to unpack the card that was a week and a half ago then I called them today. They told me that it's gonna take 10 days now to lift the block. I told him that my mom has his pass and I had to pay for the funeral that didn't mean anything to him. This is a scam definitely. I would advise anyone to stay away from green that it would be one of the worst decisions that you were made to try to do any kind of business with greenback. I will keep you posted on how long does it take for me to Ashley are use this card. He had the black took off, we're going on two weeks they're telling me 10 more days with no explanation
They are $#*!ing trash! Every person that works there should be in jail for fraud! $#*! the owner! $#*! the customer service! $#*! their family! $#*! there's pets! I hope they all get hit by a $#*!en buds
I always use these store bought cards to pay bills and buy things online. But lately every single one i buy is the same hassle. I get this green dot junk card. Put $270 dollars on it. And it wont let me register the card. For two weeks i fight and argue with someone from the philippines that say they have no power to register or activate my card. All they can do is refund my money in two weeks. By check. Obviously i needed to buy something now or i need my money. I dont make alot and i can afford to sit on money for weeks. Theres no one that can help. They just keep telling me to do the same things. So i get frustrated and the weekend comes and goes. The next week i try again registering online. Finally it goes thru partially. But they dont believe i am who i say i am. why would i use my own name and address if i was doing something fraudulent. Idiots. Now they want me to upload a i.d front and back. Then tells me its blurry when its not. And then tells me it doesnt meet the jpeg format. Anything to not give you YOUR MONEY. I finally get it to work and it gets declined because they instantly took a monthly fee the day i bought the card. The day i bought the card 2 weeks ago when it refused to let me use it. So there wasnt enough money on the card to make the purchase that i got it for. AND clearly says on the package no monthly fees. With smaller letters that say if unless you set up direct deposit. It didnt even give me a chance to set it up. They just took it. Total fraud and i dont know how they get away with it. The U.S Attorney General should shut this place down
I'm have been with green dot for 10 years an I'm definitely not satisfied. I have had taking off my an filed a dispute an got nothing back. I've lost a lot of money over the years. I wouldn't recommend Green Dot to no one they are horrible. I'm soon working on it right now. They better customer service too they are polite at all rude..
I've been using green dot for a while with no problems but here recently I've been having problems that forced me to find another alternative Financial institution to handle my finances. They've been double charging On certain things that I've attempted to purchase from multiple merchants. These merchants claimed that there's nothing they can do because they do not see these extra charges. Due to these double charges it has placed my account in overdraft and I accumulated multiples of overdraft charges in which green dot refuses to make right. Today I look at my green dot account to find yet another double charge. One posted and 1 in pending. This is from a totally different business with a totally different merchant service so they cannot blame where I purchased things from it's a problem glitch within the bank but they do not want to listen. So I'm taking my services elsewhere.
I should've read the reviews before I bought this card! I put 200 on the card and was never able to to register the card everytime I call there giving me the run around I only bought the card because the hotel I was going to stay didn't take my bank only took visa so I bought this card from Walgreens and now I'm outta 200 dollars they should be sued for scamming people out there money
Greeddot.com are nothing but scammers they scammed me out of my $235.00 on 07/03/2023 I purchased a Walmart debit card from then I put 235.00 Dollars in the debit card so I had to activated which it took a process which that's when the trouble began! I put all my correct information into the card and then they said it would take up to two business days for the car to be activated I waited two business days there was no money on the card so I call customer service Which day would not helpful at all they just gave me the runarounds first the the lady picked up and said I can mail you a check with you it will arrive on the 14th of July then I told her no I don't want a refund I just want the money to be on the card and she said okay I see your information on the on a database, So just give it two more days you money will be on the card I waited two more days looked on the account there was no money, My point to this review is they took my 235 and claim that there was no profile that I made and I did not make any purchase of the card even though I have the card in my hands and I have the Walmart receipt proving that I did purchase the card and put $235 onto the card they are scammers don't trust them My advice is do not purchase this card unless you want to lose money!
My elderly mother's card got locked because she answered a single security question inaccurately. While good security is important, they have a complete inability to deal with the situation once the card is locked. We've spent in excess of three hours on the phone. On hold. Getting cut off during transfers. Getting bounced around to supervisors, etc. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
On 9 June 2023, I made a bank transfer from my Walmart Money Card account, Green Dot Bank, Routing Number *******, for the amount of $201.00 and another transfer for $250.00 on 12 June 2023 from the same bank. Both transfers were to my Chime account from The Bancorp Bank, N.A., 6100 S Old Village Pl, Sioux Falls, SD *******, Routing Number *******. As of today, 27 June 2023, both Chime and The Bancorp Bank claim they have not received the transfers, but Green Dot Bank claims they have. My Walmart account has had the money deducted from my account. The first transfer was on 16 June 2023 (verification code: V1V0N-FW84B) and the second transfer was on 20 June 2023 (verification code: V1Y8K-9RGJY). I called the Walmart Money Card customer service department this morning and they claimed that both transfers were completed successfully. I then called Chime customer service and they claimed that neither transfer was showing in their system.
On June 3 Called green dot to cash out my card and send me a check. It's the 27th of June no check. That's "17" work days? I'm Mad! They can send you a card in 10 days. Giving your money back who knows I did call it's still processing.
What are u gonna do when millions realize u mixing lottery with the rewards u promising them. U took my $100 rewards. But u gonna fold after i put up these reviews.
They took our money and didn't apply it to the card. Their phone system doesn't recognize anything chat doesn't work.
