They disabled my account & will not help to fix it.

Yeah. It's great that you get your check early, but lots of other banks do that. But if you ever have an issue (and you will) their customer service is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with. I made a purchase from Walmart and a usual because this is a prepaid card, they placed a hold for the pretax amount. A few days later, the total amount was charged, but the hold did not come off. I waited 2 weeks to see if it would clear up on its own before calling customer service. The girl I spoke with didn't understand this very common practice. She first argued that the dates were different. I explained the first was on the day the order was placed, the second was on the day it cleared. She argued that the amounts were different. I again explained that one was pretax, and the other for the final amount. She told me that the $99 charge must have been the delivery fee. I explained that there was no delivery fee. She insisted several times that my card had been compromised and the charge came from that. I explained several times that wasn't the case. I asked for a supervisor multiple times. She refused. In the end, she marked my account for fraud and disabled my card despite my telling her several times not to. They are STILL holding my $99. I am required to MAIL them all of the exact same information that I have over the phone. And I am still waiting for the new card, which means I have no access to my money. Obviously taking my money elsewhere. If you haven't signed up for their service, save yourself the hassle. I've heard good things about Chime.

I attempted to obtain a refund check for the remaining balance on a giftcard. It allowed me to hit the "submit" button after I entered my information, but nothing happened. I then decided to call the GreenDot help line (*******957)to inquire how to get the remaining balance. The representative stated that he could transfer my balance to one of my credit cards. He asked for the CVV number and I asked why he would need that and he stated that all of my information needed to be exact. I tried to get his name again but he spoke over me and with his heavy accent, I was unable to understand. Once I have him my information, I immediately received a fraud alert from Synchrony Bank. He assured me that it was not his company as he was unable to complete the transaction as my "credit limit was too high" and requested that I give him my debit card information instead. I told him absolutely not and demanded to know what the balance on the GreenDot card was. He told that I'd need to call *******411. This number is for DirectTV.

My daughter trusted this outfit to hold her money. Her account was hacked several times and she could not access her money for weeks. To speak to someone was a marathon of holding lengthy amounts of time. She died unexpectedly and it has been a nightmare to (1) reach someone, (2) jump through their hoops to regain her assets, (3) trust that her assets have not been stolen. No accounting of the activity on her account has been offered. We were told it would take two weeks to liquidate her account. It has now been two months. It was bad enough to lose our daughter, but her children need her assets. Please deal with your local bank where you can walk into a building and speak to a real person. So disappointed in this business.

I still have not received my refund from a deposit to an account that was supposed to be closed according to customer service. They still were charging me fees and never closed my account, then took money that did not belong to them. Watch your accounts closely and make sure when ask for it to be closed thats it's closed.

This is by far my first and last time I'll ever use green dot card ever again. I've turned in photos to verify my account and still haven't unblocked my cards. My bills are late because of this jackass company!

After 7 years of using this bank for my employer's direct depositing my pay checks they closed my account saying it was a new system. They said I can keep getting employer direct deposits and keep using the account they would only send me another bank card, than after the closing they said no you can't keep have employer's deposits and you can't use the account and I can't touch my money in the account. They would process my account in 30 days and mail my balance ten days later 90 days later they have not processed me my balance they have not mailed my balance for 90 days 30 phone calls they have completely lied. They are terrorists completely evil terrorists

I am a frequent user of pay as you go bank cards and have always had a very nice experience with the ones I have used in the past. So, I was completely flabbergasted by the green dot card. My family and I purchased green dot cards so that my sons could transfer their portion of the rent onto my green dot card, monthy. The first month we had no problem transferring funds but the second month was a complete disaster. When my sons transferred their amount of the rent onto my green dot card, green dot blocked ALL THREE of our accounts. When we each called to have the blocks removed we soon realized that the call center was not in the US and that the customer service reps were all reading from scripts and whenever I asked a question they would just continue to read from the script, like a robot. We soon learned that there was no way for anyone in customer service to take the blocks off of our accounts. That we would have to wait TWO BUSINESS days for any type of help and since this happened on a Friday this meant no one would be able to help us until the following week. The process for removing the blocks is to be given a case number, put it in the subject line and email green dot at a specific email address the front and back of your ID. We did this and eventually the blocks were removed but then green dot closed both my sons accounts without any type of communication so it wasn't until their checks the following week didn't show up on their green dot cards that we figured it out. Now neither of my sons got their paychecks and they cannot purchase food or any thing they need. They both had to email their jobs and find out where their checks went and they get paid every week so this is STILL an ongoing problem. I have already closed my account with them. And I urge you please for your own sanity and safety DO NOT PURCHASE A GREEN DOT CARD! I have gone back to using a Fred Meyer card since I have had it for years and NEVER had a problem with it. We will be trying out the Chime card. I have heard good things about it. Thank you for taking the time to read this and research the green dot card. I would give this card no stars if I could.

I had my card for years know like 4 any ways last year with the reward system I called them and said I did my 12 mths no button to click instead of telling me to wait tell later in the day for the button they said I was in the negative remind you I was never in the negative and I got the 10 dollars protection plan same thing just happened agian they told me it wasn't they app I asked to speak with a supervisor Bella asked for my number then hung up on me then called me back and stated she did hang up but on a accident any how the supervisor hung up on me before even speaking then I called back and was told I was in the negative agian I told them this happened last year well guess what my moneys on there now because like I said they app is messed up you don't get your money the 18 and when you do get it is 24 hrs from when they take the payment don't waste your time calling because they will have you believing you won't get your money

Garbage

Honestly. I've never had any issue with GreenDot until I've had to talk/interact with them. I been a customer for almost 2 years and had NO issue. But recently, I was paid by my Employer and within Minutes of being paid, they flagged my account and said that my employer paying me was "Unusual activity"...
So I call them right away and they don't give me ANY explanation, but tell me I need to provide proof that its ME. So I comply and do so, and they tell me "OK, we received the documents, give us up to 2 business days to review these documents"... and I'm going on day 7! I now have LATE FEES and still no access to my account, and let me remind you that they don't this within MINUTES of me being paid by my employer, my employer thats been paying me for YEARS! I'm definitely fighting this issue and will be switching banks. Thank God I have the recordings and screenshots,
So make sure you save ALL conversations and record when you talk to this company yall.

The worst service ever!

I would give them all negative stars. I bought a card today and followed directions to activate the card and cant get my card activated. Keeps giving me a error message and then of course you cant get a live agent on the phone and then when you finally do they can not help you other then telling you to try it again but you get the same error message. All they say is they can not help other then filing a report that will take 24 to 48 hours to get a response. Now my bill is late and my money is sitting out there some where and i dont have access to it at all and they just say they are sorry. I would not ever recommend this company or card to any one ever.

Charged me 7.95 for two straight years which ended up putting me in $170 debt even thought i haven't use the card or services. I activate a new card i had in my wallet apparently it was under the same account and i loaded $160 for my bill and it took all my money left me negative. I've called and now I'm just gonna open a class action lawsuit because the account should have been close earlier they know what they was doing. Worst company I've ever dealt with there corporate head quarters are a joke and i hear roosters in the background when i call figures.

Trying to activate a debit card ( gift card) and online is impossible... they say "we are having technical problems try later" and I have being trying for 1 week. When I call to activate the card they ask me for social security number, seriously? SSN to activate a gif card come on... Very bad...

HORRIBLE

I had a dispute of someone taking my money out of my account and they had my information, so I mentioned that to greendot customer service n everybody they transferred mae to as to give mae the run aroun unblocked my card fa that person once already. I called ro inform them of it and they blocked it again and told mae I had to give them my lease agreement n somemore documents to even get everything from my old account since I started up an entire new account because nobody was helpful enough to inform mae what actually I should had done, so I thought since I had a card already that I could just get everything transferred WRONG THEY'RE LIARS. Told mae that if I give them my lease agreement n other documents everything would be settled since my troubles are hitting mae back to back I didn't have my lease agreement at the time n proudly I found it a few days ago n sat down ro get all this mess nipped n they have let the same person get the rest of my money out of my account I'm just soo frustratedly pissed I'm not sure what to do rite now. My rating n warning to everyone they need to go out of business when they can't keep they're word cause I knew nobody else has my lease agreement. IMA JUST B THRU NOW SADLY 2 SAY THEY ARE NO HELP AND SRY. I tried recording our conversations and everything, but it all back fired on mae and I'm not sure if because I was soo mad I couldn't focus to do anything rite so no photos or recordings and that's not even all of it. Supervisor I spoke with took my name n number to update mae and my actual email never got nothing at all.

Fraudulentl Company

I've had my money be taken our fraud several times and had to make disputes but this company won't back it up and give my money back. They keep my money and give the excuses that they can't give it back. So far they have kept over $1000 of fraudulent charges of my money. They are the biggest fraudulent company I've ever dealt with.

My Card has been deactivated twice in 2 months! Both times on Friday! You can't get it reactivated until the following week! It's ridiculous! I would advise you to not get a greendot prepaid card! Also you can't understand a word customer service is saying! Their language is not understandable! You will not have any money until the following week!

Do not use Green Dot! They stole my entire paycheck blocked my card on my payday and sent me to their website where it tells me that my account don't exist! They stole $700 from me DO NOT USE GREEN DOT!

They say a charge is "pending" even though the merchant even calls and says to release the funds... nope they just hold it for 3 weeks without even telling you. Bc of my credit situation I was desperate but people fall on hard times. Understandable but what makes me sick are the billionaires that profit off of hard working people just trying to scrap by. 600 dollars they are sitting on. Normally a authorizing charge u get back immediately. But 3 days tops. 3 weeks? Disturbing that this is even aloud to happen. If ya don't hear back from me I probably froze to death since that money was keeping a roof over my damn head. Meanwhile green dots revenue is 1.2 billion dollars. So $#*!ing disgusted and angry

Big letters on front of card say NO MONTHLY FEE. Have to put your glasses on to see that it's with qualifying direct deposit. Who the $#*! buys a pre paid card to set up direct deposit? Now I'm out 8 dollars on a monthly fee I haven't even owned the card for a few days how can I charge me a monthly fee. This whole company needs shut down after reading all these reviews.
