If you want somebody to rob you of your money and then tell you how stupid you are for using them buy you some green dot prepaid cards and or open up a Green Dot account. This company is bull$#*!, what they stand for is bull$#*!, and they rob poor people or people who need their money and then they offer them absolutely no solutions.
I have received a phone call from Bernard stating I was going to get refund & also
I received phone call from Josh on 2//1/22 he informed me of BBB contacting greendot, and that I will be receiving my $200.00 back in a check. It takes 2 days to process the refund. From this day still no check in mail. I emailed twice, and finally got call from supervisor, which I was at work. So I called back and spoke to a lady and she informed me that I am not getting the $200.00 back because I did not give them the info they needed. I sent them the receipt. They want the card. I don't know how many times I have to say the card was stolen/lost and was sent to Florida in the mail. So I was lied too after Josh told me I'm getting the refund, and it will be mailed to my address. I have been dealing with this company since December, and was told twice that I would get refund back. When I talk to others they said no. I have spoken to Bernard and Josh from Greendot. They need to train employees. $200.00 is a lot to lose, and I sent my information that they request like 4 times. How many more times I have to keep emailing and calling. Thank you for your time, and understanding. I have been dealing with this company since December 2021 with phone calls back in forth and have been lied too. I am not going to waste my breath with them again. BEWARE OF THE COMPANY! I keep telling them I bought 2 gift cards for the amount of $200 one went to my daughter in Illinois, the other mailed to Florida and was stolen my son did not receive. I have been mailing the cards to him the last 5 years and this has never happened, and he is a cop for crying out loud he would not lie about not receiving the card. They lie, and they really need to train there employees if they are not going to give the refund!
There is a high monthly fee ($7), which rapidly depletes the account unless you put a lot of money in there. But why. It's not transferable, so you can't even send it as a gift. It's your card and it's linked to you. There is almost no advantage over cash that I can see. Even once your balance goes to zero, they still keep assessing monthly fees! I tried it out as a way to securely do transactions online, but it's not convenient, only works at some vendors. I put $25 on the card. The monthly fee brought the balance down to $12.05. I can't find a way to transfer the money to my PayPal account or a bank account, so I "payed a bill" to myself, so I can get a paper check which I'll deposit so I don't lose the rest of the money. Actually, I bought two cards at once (which was a mistake, because that means two monthly fees). When I tried to register the second card it seems to have taken over my account. There seems to be no way to have two Green Dot accounts on a single card. So now I don't even know how to get back to the first card I put in. I set up an additional green dot online account, but it's too late, because the second ard is already registered on my original account, so the money on the first card may be gone to me. Hopefully, I can figure that out, but it's not like I can call anyone for help. All I'm trying to do now is get back the $24.10 that is remaining on those two cards, and then close them out before I get assessed more fees. Fees, fees, fees, for everything. I wouldn't recommend one of these cards for anything to anybody.
Sadly, I believe almost all debit cards from all vendors operate the same way. I haven't found any that don't. We are locked into an oppressive banking system, and this card is just a part of it.
You are better off with something like Stash, where you can at least invest any money you are not using.
Bought gift cards for my kids and grandkids at Christmas, 1 of the gift cards had been opened and the number cut off. I made A LOT of calls, sent pictures of the receipt to Green Dot and they 'decided' the card had already been used so they couldn't replace it. I will NOT EVER purchase a gift card from Walmart again! Green Dot is a total SCAM! I wasted about 4 hours on the phone with them, holding, getting hung up on, only to be told they were not going to replace the gift card. SCAMMERS! I lost $100, not ever again!
PLEASE BE ADVISED... I will be losing my job because these theives have lied to me since March the 9th. But they are very very sorry about my situation, the first specialist I spoke with told me he had cancel my card but it would be ok because I could easily generate a barcode to receive money. I've missed 2 days of work because I have no way of. Getting fuel from the 850.00 I have on my account, but again they are very sorry. I only have to wait for 2 more days before I'll have new card. That will be awesome because I won't be employed. I wish their call center was close to me... or maybe I don't... I apologize for the threat Mr. Greendot. Lol
DO NOT USE THIS BANK! They will charge you to make deposits and they are not helping me fix an error they made. Now my account is $100 in the negative. I have called the help line and the chat option. No one will help me. They keep going in circles. I can't wait for the charges to go through and I can cancel my account. The worse banking system! I stayed at a hotel March 6th and paid in cash. They asked for a card to hold. I gave my green dot card. They did an authorization on it and immediately voided it. That was over a week ago. Green Dot is saying it went over my balance and they covered $90 and I owe them. I can't do anything until the 17th because it's a pending transaction. How the heck does it take that long for a transaction to go through! "They can't look at it until it's no longer pending." I have bills that wont get paid now. I can't wait to take my business elsewhere.
Green Dot Bank refuses to pay my cash back rewards. They have a scam where they will close your account before you can receive your cash back rewards. Green Dot will blame you for their mistake and not pay you the money you earned up until they close your account. Green Dot charges fees for ATM machines that they say are free, then Green Dot charges your card for the ATM fee.
I had a direct deposit sent to green dot bank they put my deposit in the wrong account and now want to keep telling me the sender has to retrieve the deposit. The sender says they have no way of getting the deposit back after the bank accepted it. I have contacted green dot over over 30 times to resolve this issue and repeatedly they say there is nothing they can do. Well someone needs to give me my 1446. 00 dollars back to me. What ever you do DO NOT TRUST GREENDOT BANK with a penny of your money they have sorry customer service nobody that answers the phones probably cant even use a computer because they do not know what they are doing in my opinion the federal government should take a look at their business practices they would probably be shut down. They are not a bank they are THIEVES so beware of them i warned you! I am just a hars worker trying to get my finances together after covid and they are taking from us the public
They robbed me of my cash back of almost 52.00 because of the a 795 bank fee that was owed on the account that's really crappy
This is BS! I deposited a check for $245.00... it's going to take 6 days for it to be deposited into my account! 6 DAYS! That's ridiculous! I suggest finding a better online bank! Maybe net spend or chime card. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT 6 DAYS FOR THERE MONEY!
They closed my quickbooks checking account with $2,600, no reason provided.

I WOULD NOT TELL NO FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS TO GET THIS CARD! MY MONEY HAVES BEEN STOLEN CUSTOMER SERVICE VERY RUDE AND HAVES NO KNOWLEDGE TO ANYTHING! COULD NOT EVEN ANSWER QUESTIONS. GO GET NETSPEND THEY ARE GREAT AND FAST ANSWER TO ANY OF YOUR QUESTIONS!
I had my taxes put on a geendot card and the money machine confiscated the card. I called green dot and they canceled my card and told me a new one will be commimg in the mail. I told them no I need access to the money and they hung up on me. I spend the whole day calling green dot to do anything all the way to corporate. Nobody speaks English and after a minute they just hang up. NEVER TRUST GREENDOT! It's been 15 days. No card, no money. Just hang ups.
I made over 70 calls and talked over 12 hours to get my money out of a Green Dot MoneyPak card and still can't get it out they keep sending me in circles I finally had to call the Federal Trade Commission on them
I've called for the last 4 hours no one was able to help me they just hang up on u horrible bank to use do not recommend
Someone stole 4300 from account and they did nothing do not use greendot cause u won't get your money back if something happens to it they will give u some bullcrap and think it's fine he'll no
My 82yr old mom passed on Sept 2021. I had a green dot acct for yrs she was having over draft fees at her traditional bank.So I moved her direct deposit from social security to a Green Dot card everything was going well and since she lives with me I thought there's no sense in paying two charges each month and I just started using her account for both of us but when she passed. Social security didn't want the money back anyway. Long story short GreenDot has been holding her money since September I sent two different letters of closure with all the things they required death certificate my ID everything and one tells me the account's closed and then processing my check another one says the account is still open and it's been reviewed by loss prevention nd they sent the money social security& social security sent it back and they see that her check was deposited on the 29th it was all gone and I had made two cash deposit since then but I can't get that money and she needs her funeral bill paid but yet they're continuing to take their $8 per month out I am going to the better Business bureau somebody somewhere has to stop these people they're like Walmart money hungry greedy greedy greedy you ever put it in there they're going to find some way to try to keep it and you can bet the three different Green Dot bank cards in my wallet are gone I will never trust them with another penny that belongs to anyone in my family.
Greendot is NOT a banking I would recommend. The company is trying very hard to rebrand as a convenient banking but they're not there yet. Be careful of sneaky tactics. Here's one --- the monthly fee.
Like any normal bank, they charge a monthly fee. That's okay! But it's a problem when you pay a fee to activate the card in-store, then set the account up online, then be charged a maintenance fee days after.
One would THINK a monthly fee be charged when the Greendot account reaches ONE month. But that's NOT the case.
I needed to pay a fee online for $10.00. I added $20.00 to a Greendot card. I paid the activation fee in the pharmacy, set the account up, and was up-and-running in minutes. Few days later, $7.00+ was removed from my account.
It's unflattering. Sneaky. And very unreliable and distasteful.
I've decided to shut my account down. I'll stick to my regular credit card company. I'm no longer comfortable using Greendot.

Greendot was recommended by my bank. There is $3.95 purchase fee but at the register a $20.00 deposit is also required. But before I purchased the card I created an online profile for my son. Immediately thereafter I could not log in. I changed the password and still had trouble and THEN I could not fully enter the username I had created. It stopped after 11 characters. I then went online and read terrible reviews and ratings. I did not purchase the card
