We lost our house and almost everything we owned in a fire. Many people since have given us assistance, including various gift cards. Every gift card we have received has been easy to use. With one glaring, horrific exception. We received 5 Green Dot Visa Debit cards supposedly worth $50 each. So far we have spent roughly 4 hours trying to activate the cards and talking to customer service reps (4 calls so far, the most recent one was a hang up after being on hold for 10 minutes). We managed to activate one of the 5 cards, but in order to do so we had to apply for a Green Dot debit card, giving this horrible company our personal information. Someone told us that the other 4 cards were also activated. We tried to use all 5 cards for a major purchase. Only the one card we activated through the Debit card application process was activated, and it was only worth $42.05. We cannot figure out how to activate the other 4 cards and Green Dot customer support has been beyond worthless. At this point I am 99% convinced that Green Dot is nothing but a scam designed to steal consumer money.

Worst card ever

This is the worst debit card on the market, they cancelled my card out and refuses to give me another card but I still have money in that account, they are ripping me off, I would never use them again it's awful

We bought tires from a place called tempoe they over charged us 900 for these tires and they admitted it to us and the disputed team and greendot turned around and took there side greendot does not protect there customers they stick up for merchants so they should just do bussiness with the merchant I will be closing the account and taking my business somewhere else where I will not get screwed ahain

Disappointed

I have been banking with Greendot since 2015 and my debit card was skimmed on April 13 2022 I was robbed of $400.00 now Greendot has denied my Claim feels like I was robbed yet again to know my bank is not going to take care of me I have loss the security I thought I had. CLOSING my account as soon as I can transfer my direct deposits to Reputable Bank

Worst Company I have ever dealt with. Can't talk to a supervisor if u ask. Bought a. Loadable card at Kroger qnd as soon as I activated it my money was stolen off. It has been a complete nightmare trying to get anywhere with these people. I asked if they were based in the u.s. a and was told they are not. Go figure. Always have problems with them on just qbout everything. They are rude and hung up on u as well. Never will use them again.

Horrible

Horrible is all I can say. I only added twenty dollars to my card to simply get a car wash and get gas. The only twenty I had and they took almost ten dollars off. I guess for services. I feel like that is really bad because had I known I would have done that. I get that it says it somewhere in the small writing but I feel like they're tricking customers into buying just to do something messed up like that. Horrible business. I feel like I was robbed. Truly

Very dishonest and lie to customer's and try to hold on your money. They will not let you transfer money to other cards and the fees are stupid. This is a completely wrong place to put your money. So easy to deposit money, and almost impossible to withdraw. Thanks to gavibrenaid.com, they helped me get my money back from them. Report them now to gavibrenaid.com, if you also want to get ur money back.

Can't transfer money

Purchase a card
to transfer money. Every time I tried to send money kept telling me I had to register. Registered like six times and finally called a customer service. They told me I can't transfer money till I get the permanent card seven days from now. Defeats the whole purpose for this purchase. What a joke!

My 17 year old daughter has been working for 4 months, her company doesn't issue paper checks. Instead they issued her a Rapid Pay Card. Worst mistake! At first, all was great with the app and deposits. First note, you have to set the app up with all documents, including ID and Social Security card. 3 months into using the app and card, her money was not deposited to the account. Contacted customer Service. The Green Dot company was holding her money, stateing the account was not verified with the ID's. 4 customer Service agents later, after being yelled at and hung up on, 4 emails and 1 fax later - her id's were verified now we have to wait 24 hrs for final verification. This is a joke, simply theft for wages worked from a company that DOESN'T HAVE THEIR DUCKS IN A ROW. Nor an agent that can do anything, we get a different story from everyone that we spoke to. To the male customer service agent that yelled at my daughter, please! CALL BACK, I GOT You! YOu SUCK at customer Service and undoubtedly suck as a HUMAN BEING! KARMA, reap what you sow!

Terrible!

I purchased 4 prepaid visa gift cards to take on vacation with us. For some reason unknown to me there was a block placed on all 4 of the cards. They were declined everytime we tried to use them. After 1 month and 7+ hours on the phone with horrible customer service, I was hung up on too many times to count and every time I was able to talk to someone I was told a different story as to why the cards were blocked. I finally called Walmart Corporate and finally the blocks were lifted. We will NEVER get these cards again!

I have been trying to get money from my deceased daughter account. Given them all the paperwork and they won't close the account. Every time I call they say they are missing something. Jadda just told me all they need is my state id. They are charging her account $5 a month and will not close the account. This place is a joke.

Money scam fraud

I bought a card for the first time about a month ago. I took it home to activate it n before I could use it someone had already spent the fifty dollars I had put on it. I called to report it n they keep giving me the run around. DONT BUY THESE CARDS PLEASE. I HAVEN'T GOT MY MONEY YET.

I had my income tax put into account and had my money sent to other people six different times. I disputed the first one all money sent and denied my dispute. Almost 800.00 dollars green Dot is a scam and poor excuse for a bank. My account was left with 33.00 dollars they are sorry people that steal your money and are a fraud.

Account still under review they still won't give me my money they say it not closed so they can still deduct bank fees from my money but I can't touch it green dot response to post are the same to call customer service but I get the same response from them it's under review since February 20 2022. Pls help me if anyone else been in my place and got their money back pls let me know how.

Crappy service

I transferred money from cash app that was instantly transferred over. Never showed up in my green dot account. I spoke with 3 different CSR's and was told 3 different things. None of which got me the money back. One of the csr's initiated a reversal of funds (which they claim were rejected) which wasn't authorized by me to move forward with because I didn't wanna wait 10 days to get my money back that should've been instantly deposited. I was hung up on by a supervisor and I still haven't gotten my money back. DO NOT BANK WITH GREEN DOT!

I'm surprised at all these negative reviews. I've never had a problem. I agree the customer service isn't the best due to the language issue, but they've always been available to me. I get cash back every July. Really no complaints and very convenient

THIEVES!

I received a check with $69 in fees taken out. My tax refund was supposed to be electronically deposited. They NEVER tried to contact me by phone, email, or letter saying there was an issue and I NEVER consented to having a check sent with fees removed. TurboTax takes NO responsibility stating its a third party even though they choose to use them. My next step is the Better Business Bureau and possibly a lawyer to see about going after them for all the time I've lost trying to reach them to no avail.
