Strictly a Walmart Card, Customer service is a joke and not to mention the $10 fees that apply even when card is not USED! I would not RECOMMEND
Absolutely worst, reversals for YOUR own money they hold for two + weeks, always saying some line " We are sorry the person day before told you wrong information, it will be tomorrow", hilarious been being told that for two + weeks now, be cautious people!
I have been waiting on my direct deposit that was stole from me February 25th and greendot said they refunded me a check I still have not got a penny of my money that was stole from me. They all have different story's all they say is 2 weeks. Everybody is from put of this country can't get nobody that speaks English very well and nothing has been done I email them are call everyday same lies they to me wait 2 weeks.
These people are crooked. I had two unauthorized transactions on my card. I canceled the card and now they say they can't issue a new card for 45 days. Garbage
So i recently purchases a prepaid card from Walgreens a couple days ago. My sister used this bank company before so I didn't think I would have any issues with it. The cashier uploaded my money onto this prepaid card without a problem. When I got into the car I attempted to activate my card. It kept saying I had a invalid card number or what not. So I call costumer service and tell the what's going she said give it about 24 hours and than I told her I was going to get court involved she turns around and say give it at least a hour. So decided to wait until the next day. I try one more time and it say it could not validate my card. So I call again and at this point I'm irritated. They say they will send me a refund check in my mailbox and it could take up to 2 business days. Hopefully they do or i will kindly go off on these people.
The fees they charge are a scam the overdraft protection is the biggest scam going half of customer service can't speak English the wait is soooo long Don't get green dot card Period
For some reason, QuickBooks has chosen Green Dot bank as the provider for their checking accounts for small businesses. Funds are very slow to transfer, and yesterday I placed a large order for materials for my business, and they declined the transaction and are holding my funds for up to a week with no reason given.
Long story short. I purchased 3 moneypak cards at $500 each. Didn't use them. Followed instructions online for refund of each. Got email with case number for each but after not hearing anything, I called. I received one refund eventually but called back and was told the picture quality wasn't good (it's the same quality as the one that was paid). Resent pictures anyway then was told neither my name nor the reference numbers they emailed me was in their system! I contacted the Consumer Protection Agency who referred the case to the Federal Reserve Board of San Francisco who regulates GreenDot. After numerous phone calls and almost 4 months I received the remaining funds. I could go into more details regarding my interactions with them but suffice it to say, it's a terrible, terrible company with terrible customer service. If enough people complain to the proper authorities, maybe some action will be taken to stop them from conducting business and ripping people off.
I've been waiting for my tax refund of $5000 since Feb 2022. I contacted IRS and they verified they sent it to Green Dot Feb 25,2022. I have called Green Dot and cannot get to a live person because it asks for account number which I do not have so it is impossible to reach a representative. I chatted with numerous reps via chat online and they cannot assist me because I do not have an account there. I do not even know why the IRS sent it to them in the first place. So basically, I cannot receive my refund. I have no choice at this point other than filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau
Company does nothing to help always hiding behind policy and never escaltes. I am missing two deposits. And by their attitude they do not care
I have been using this card for over 10 years. I haven't had a problem until recently. With that said I have lost a total of 450 dollars in the last 6 Mos. Closing out my account. Customer service IF you can get a hold of them they always blame the merchants for their mistakes. The merchants I speak of all have 5 star ratings. That alone tells you where the problems lie. Green Dot refuses to make adjustments to correct the problems they created. Again blaming the 5 star merchants. I am done Losing money with them. Save yourself the waste of time and money. I'm done they sent a payment in twice and then told me I have to file a dispute and wait ten days to get my money back when I do imma cut my card into small pieces and never deal with them again.
I will never use greendot card services again even if my life depended on it! They took my money after giving me the run around and said the documents I sent in wasn't legible. This company is a SCAM
I tried to refund my card from 10 month ago, I submitted all required documents they need, but no response and giving me bad excuses, some times they put me on hold for 30 minutes, some times they transfer me to resolution center which told me that is wrong department.
Conclusion
Don't ever never purchase this Green Dot Cards
I opened my greendot account in mid 2019. Never had any use for it really so I forgot about it.
Never even gave the card/account a second thought, until Feb 2021. I had a promo cash back deposit and it went to that card I must have attached it long ago and didn't realize.
No problem. I reloaded a prepaid beverage app and transferred the rest to my main bank account.
Again I completely forgot about this Green Dot account. After going through my phone to delete unused apps I opened the Green Dot app logged in and I have a NEGATIVE BALANCE over $110 in the whole.
It appears that in March 2021 they began charging a fee of $7.95 per month.
And I've never received emails, texts or even paper mail.
Why would I not have a fee for over a year and then out of the blue this fee shows up. 15 months it's been racking up.
It makes ZERO sense
Cannot delete or close the account and emailing customer service doesn't respond and calling just runs me in circles.
Racketeering is all I can compare it to.
I bought a green card over 2 years ago! I placed 100 dollars on the card and when I couldnt recieve my money I called them. They gave me a ticket number and promised to get back to me did they No! I still have my reciet I still have my card and ticket number. So please dont buy a green dot card! In fact stay away from this company completely! They dont care and they refuse to help you. So please go for a reloadable visa or Mastercard just please not them.
This is a con. I am giving them one star because I have to give atleast that much.
I am very certain whoever set up this? ( it's not a bank or card) is either a con or half honest. If there is even a slight doubt about legitimacy of this review request to be reached to me thru my email. I have not thrown their card. Shame on you Greendot, may you be exposed.

I am the director of a long term care facility trying to help a resident that bought a $250 card which never loaded properly and for which they were never reimbursed. They asked for my assistance and I was shocked to learn they had been working on this with Greendot for nearly a year. Despite supplying a case# for the incident this person with health concerns and limited funds has never received a reply or status for their request. Truly pathetic. We have raised funds in order to reimburse this resident, but I cannot say I support the purchase of the product since it is not well supported by their company.
I had $500 stolen out of my account and my dispute was denied. I've never spoken with anyone who speaks clear English. I was on hold forever. I honestly think it was an inside job! USE A REAL BANK!
