God help you if your card is stolen and used. These people make you jump through hoops only to deny your claim. I even found the thief and had them arrested. Then I was told to get my money back through the court case.
Run from them!... and don't look back!
We had our card hacked and found out about it within hours of it happening. In an attempt to stop the thief and shut the card down we called green dot. After a cumlitate 6 hour hold time over a couple of days we are yet to be answered at all by anyone who can help us. We quite literally watched another attempt at a fraudulant charge on our card while on hold with Green dot. If you want any protection and security with your money this is not the company for you. If you want customer service and someone to help in times of trouble this is not the company for you. The gross negligance is disgusting. Shame on you Green Dot.
I'm losing money somewhere with green dot and that started about 6 months ago (roughly). I've had them for 2 almost 3 years. I don't recommend this way. Once my check is directly deposited on my green dot card I pull as much money out as I can (besides the bills that are set to pull automatically). I've now been able to save and I question what's missing the last 6 months. My spending habits haven't changed. I used to like green dot but if I lose my card (once) it was a miserable 3 week waiting period. Once again cash proves to be more reliable for someone like myself.
I purchased a prepaid card with $220 USD and I was not able to activate it, so the card got blocked. They told me since the card was blocked I can't do anything with the card such as pay a bill. I created a case on 10/17/2022 to get the money refunded. I sent a picture of the card front and back and also the receipt and I have been calling them to get updates without success. Today on 12/05/2022 I was able to get in touch with someone and they said that a purchase was made on 10/19/2022 which does not make sense because the card was blocked and Greendot Dot told me that if the card was blocked I can't make any purchases with the card. I need my money back.
BEWARE - We bought my son what we thought was a prepaid gift card for his birthday. What Green Dot didn't tell us is that we actually opened a bank account that comes along with a 5$ monthly Maintenance fee. My son held onto to the card but when He finally went to use it Green Dot says we owe them money! READ THE FINE PRINT - On their packaging they say in huge print NO FEES! It's an a absolute underhanded way to take advantage of unknowing consumers and they know it! So now not only does my son not have a birthday present, Green Dot is pursuing us for a balance due on the account!
They're so-called 795 fee 795 was reversed last month I called them up to talk to a supervisor got hung up on two times in a row then third time I got a hold of the supervisor they charged me $7.95 and I didn't use my card said it was valid and they were being rude about it don't get Green Dot don't call me!
Green Dot has continually report an account they claim I opened in 2017 as a negative charged off account in the amount of $67 despite I have filed disputes. I have demanded copies of account statements and the account application that has my signature showing I applied for an account and they have ignored me. I've disputed the reported account with the national credit bureaus and they keep responding that the account is valid and it remains on my credit file. I'm now filing complaints with the CFPB and FTC. I RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK AND AVOID DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM!
Put 200 on a card, then went to use 170. Weeks later I go online and somehow I was at negative 18 dollars. Then got set up for direct deposit got my first check and they stole 16 dollars of it. Disloyal business, would not recommend this trash company to even my most disliked enemies. In the course of 1 month they stole, 64 from me. Negative stars if possible. Have recites photos and screen shots for proof.
If i give the company five stars u should not make me put anything verbal because 5 stars speak for itself
I am not surprised with the bad reviews. I work as a dasher for door dash and forgot I signed up for a card using this bank.
Last weekend I needed money quick so I chose the fast pay option. A few days later I noticed that the money was not in my regular account. I called doordash who told me funds were sent to account from greendot bank and to contact them.
The customer service for green dot is beyond atrocious. They have a robot try to end call right away. They keep asking for card number which i dont have. I had to press option for identity theft just to reach a live person.
Unfortunately the customer rep was of no use either. Horrible customer service experience where she refused to help me retrieve my funds that I earned. I had Transaction ID and Reference number but she did not listen to me.
I am still very upset over the lack of care this bank had for me.
Please avoid this bank and their thieves!
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT WALMART WOULD BE AN INVESTOR IN THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE COMPLETE CROOKS! I ACTUALLY HAD AN EMPLOYEE TAKE MY MONEY WHILE LOOKING INTO MY ACCOUNT! WE HAVE TO MAIL OUR DISPUTE IN THE MATTER! WE ARE IN 2022 ANYWHERE ELSE YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO EMAIL AND HAVE THINGS TAKEN CARE OF! SO AFTER READING THE OTHER REVIEWS I AM SURE THIS IS GOING TO TAKE ME MONTHS TO GET MY $1200. NOT TO MENTION THE TIME THAT IT HAS EVEN TAKEN ME TO GET THIS FAR! 3 DAYS OF PHONE CALLS PEOPLE WHO DON'T SPEAK ANY KIND OF CLEAR ENGLISH BEING HUNG UP ON TRANSFERRED TO MULTIPLE PLACES AND BEING HUNG UP ON AS WELL! $#*! GREEN DOT!
I have had so much crap with green dot I would never recommend them to anyone they lie about how there accounts work and then just hang up on you cause they don't want to help you get it figured out... I will no longer have this bank account again... They have lost money of my held money of my and now won't even give me the cash back I made...so don't trust them at all...
I bought three $25 green dot cards for my boys and could never activate. I had to end up giving them cash for them and still cannot activate OR get any human on the line. It SUCKS. This company should not be in business.
I just purchased the card and got charged with a monthly fee how when the month just started smh then I called numerous time about getting money my money off the card and they keep telling me they didn't receive my documents with in fact I send it over 4 times please don't use Green dot
First non of the call team specialists speak English second they all give you the run around then hang up. They won't fix their mistakes then put it back on you the customer. This was a terrible experience my card was locked with 2000 dollars on it my direct deposits were blocked and access denied. Never again will I use this company.
The customer service representative is a voicemail that repeats the same questions if there is a problem. No other help available.
This is by far THE WORST BANK IN THE WORLD. My account was hacked and they allowed all my funds to be withdrawn and then put a block on my account. I called 20 times and kept getting hung up on before I was actually able to explain my issue. Stated they would be issuing a refund check in 2 weeks after I submitted the requested documents it has now been a month no check I called back and now it's back to getting hung up on …I WOULDNT SUGGEST ANYONE USE THIS BANK. I WOULDNT BANK WITH THEM IF THEY HAD A MILLION DOLLAR INCENTIVE…HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
I purchased a Green Dot card on 10/14/2022 from WalMart. When I got home to complete online activation I was asked to enter my SSN to activate the card. I did not want to enter my SSN for a reloadable card so I contacted Green Dot and spoke with a representative who assured me that I would be refunded my money for the $3.95 cost of purchasing the card and $25 I loaded on it. The representative asked me to send pictures of the card and receipt to obtain a refund. On 10/19/2022 I received an email saying that I would not receive a refund due to no funds being on the card. I paid for $25 to be loaded on the card on the day of purchase. I am 100% sure that this was an inside job. Whoever had access to the pictures I sent definitely registered the card and spent the money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PREPAID CARD
COMPANY! Purchase any card other than Green Dot if you value your money and don't want to be scammed by this company. The scams are taking place by their own employees which is really sad for consumers.
Green Dot's partnership with Quickbooks is beyond frustrating. The customer service at Green Dot will only read a script and refuses to provide helpful information about your account. It takes over 60 days to officially close the account if you need to which holds up so many other functions in Quickbooks. Save yourself the time and frustration and just go with a real bank!
If you care about your money go through a real bank because this one is a fraud! Poor customer service!
