Another complaint about Green Dot Prepaid Card, I was charged $7.95 monthly fee after 24 hours purchasing the card. Call the back of the card ( customer service) nothing they could do! Will never purchase this piece of $#*! card Again!
There's no way to email them and when you call you can't even get an agent on the line. I used that card for 1 purchase and closed the account...except they didn't closed it and kept charging me montly payments. A refund was made after i got in contact and closed it AGAIN and it settled the negative amount. I was told the negative amount was gonna dissapear and the're was nothing they could do about the refund, but that's not what happened. The rest of the money is there and i can't even spend that because i don't have that card anymore. They told me a callback was gonna be made at the number provided in the account only...i don't have that anymore.
I am going on 10 weeks with my issue and no resolution. Submitted a payment of $117, their system took $1170. Mind you the balance owed total was $400 on a card with $800 limit. Called immediately and got told to contact my bank as there wasn't anything they could do. So I filed a dispute to get money back. Green Dot has fought it the entire time stating they want a receipt of my payment. That'd be doable if they actually gave you a receipt, rather you get a "thanks for your payment " when you submit a payment. They have since closed my account down due to me filing a dispute with bank. I can no longer access customer service and am still without the $700 they stole! I have filed complaints with BBB and Attorney General over this. Avoid Green Dot like the plague!
Don't sign up for any of Green Dot cards or accounts if you have a real bank account. You can not transfer your own money to any other bank or cash service at all. That means you are cut off from cash app, FBpay, venmo, zelle, Google pay... every major and minor bank, and savings and loan.
You can use the money at a store. Sure. You can go to an ATM and get some cash. Yeah. You can go to Walmart and get cash. Sure. With limits and hassles, you can access it. But you can't HAVE it.
You can't send it to yourself.
You also can't send it to anyone who isn't part of the GD network. So you can't, for instance, pay your rent with it. Or pay back a friend. Or, and I really can't stress this enough... YOU CAN'T SEND IT TO YOUR OWN BANK!
In the age of almost totally cashless banking, where we can accept payments from friends, clients, employers, the government... whomever!...from a plethora of 3rd party electronic funds transfer services, that can be linked to multiple banking services and institutions, so that you can take a payment from a client through cash app, and send it into your business account, then send some to your personal account at a different bank, and then, to a friend from there, through a different 3rd party EFTS, or even from your bank straight to their's, when competing banks and financial services have little problem sending and accepting EFTs from almost any other financial institution... Green Dot says, "No. You can send money from us to us. That's it. No one else. Unless they are with us. Then you can send it to them through us from your GD account to their GD account. But they won't be able to have it. Unless they have another GD account."
That...is ridiculous. Absolutely, completely, incomprehensibly, ridiculous.

I bought a green dot prepaid Visa card on January 1,2023. I tried and tried to get it working and they told me that they aren't affiliated with that card anymore. And that they would issue me a refund for the $51.97 in the form of a check that I would receive in 4-6 weeks. Spoiler alert, March 8,2023 I am still waiting for my money back. To add insult to injury, I received an email on February 23 stating that the research team has investigated my case and would like to talk to me about a resolution, so I called the number on the back of the card. When I called the second time the guy told me that my case had been closed but he would open a new one for me. Now I can't get anyone to answer the phone! Don't use green dot for anything! Take it from me or all the other reviews this is a bull$#*! money stealing overseas 'help call center'. What a joke. I want my money back. $51.97 isn't a lot of money but it's everything when you don't have anything.
Well i had over 100 bucks in my vault someone hacked into my online account changed all my info sign in password address phone eveything, then green dot i called they closed all accounts and card but then said i had to submit pics of my ID and a utility bill to get my money back and I had to mail a dispute letter in which I did now lets see how long it takes if i ever get my money back my advice is use paypal or something. Getting hacked like this sucks and you likley might not get your money back or it will take a long time and you'll have to submit and or mail bunch of bs. Say no to green dot.
I have attempted to contact them various time and have been met with the worst customer service I have ever received. Do not use this service if you can avoid!
Run away as fast as you can! These guys are fricking crooks! Cost me $57 in 2 months to have this card which was immediately hacked and cost me more! Then to get my money I had to pay even more and go to a Walmart money station… if you have problems, which you certainly will, go to a Walmart and they will help you! Green dots customer service is in some third world country! Run away from these guys as fast as you can!
Horrible customer service! Hung up on 3 times! Kids and husband screaming in the background, they cannot transfer calls. As they work from a cell phone. Cannot speak English. They cannot confirm if your email was received. I am cancelling this card ASAP!
I received a greendot gift card, in order to use or check my balance I MUST create an account with all my personal information INCLUDING my social security number. I never heard of "Gift Cards" asking for your social security number in order to be able to use it. I was able to register it without given them my social security number BUT I should still have a balance but it gets decline now. I call their Customer Service number but since I never gave them my SSN I caanot passed the machine screening to speak to a human. GREENDOT "BANK" IS A SCAM! FRAUD!
I will not let Green Dot have a pen in mind never again they will let your phone get cut your power get cut your family starved before they release your own money to you them in Walmart are in bed together they're both crooked as they can be I do not recommend them to anybody not anybody at all they don't deserve a star they won't let you give any less

So I used green dot for like a couple years...then I needed a regular bank account so I got one and have been with them 2 years.green dot has charged me 7.99 every month even though I was t using them. So I had an emergency and a friend sent me some money and used Walmart green dot and green dot took my 90$ and my account said -83.00 I called them and was not helped they pretty much told they are keeping my money. This is the only money transfer company that charged you when you don't use the app also the only one who doesn't try to Make it right either. DO NOT USE THEM!
I purchased card and put money towards the card which never got loaded on the card. Have been going in circles with emailing photos of receipts and packaging and still have not gotten my money. These people take money from hard working people.
This is absolutely the worse debit card to acquire.
The customer service is atrocious. They hang up on you if they don't want to assist you.
They hold your funds hostage using tricks like changing your pin number without telling you.
Run as fast as you can from this debit card. Get whatever money you might have and go elsewhere.

Do not use Green Dot prepaid cards and deposit money Green Dot will NOT resolve any issue with crediting your deposit. They will request receipt and lie about resolution pass you off to countless foreign speaking CSRs about your claim. Walmart should drop this service ASAP. The local store is somewhat helpful.

I have a bank account with GreenDot Bank. On 2/3/23, I discovered that my bank account had been emptied with someone by the business name of JEKA LLC. I called my bank to report the fraud, however, they stated that they will not refund funds and I would have to call back in 10 days to file a fraud complaint. I called JEKA LLC, and spoke to Jeff, who stated I was the 12th person to call him that morning and it was not his company. He provided me with a list of others who called him regarding the same issue. I contacted about 12-15 others, and they ALL had the EXACT AMOUNT of their bank accounts withdrawn, and told by GreenDot there's nothing they can do. I advised Green Dot that there has been a security or data breach, because we are all GreenDot banking customers, our accounts were emptied to the penny, and now we do not have the funds to pay bills, late fees are being incurred, and the bank is refusing to return funds and acknowledge there is an internal issue. - Everyone is a GreenDot customer - Everyone had all of the money in their accounts withdrawn by JEKA LLC - The bank refuses to help any of us or return our money. I have phone numbers of others who have experienced the same issue. - Green Dot refuses to provide a legal services dept or anyone within the bank that can escalate this issue. We are constantly told to call back in 10 days to file a dispute. - Myself, and others (all over the United States), are now concerned about credit, what data has been leaked, how they knew how much money was in all of our accounts, and we are now incurring late fees, and NSF fees, as a result of the banks negligence. My credit has also now been compromised.
Can only use for in store purchases for some reason my personal information was not verified even tho it was accurate,do NOT I repeat do NOT buy anything for this company,ANY alternative is better. No matter the situation, would not recommend you will spend hours dealing with BS. NO STARS
