I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. I placed a sympathy basket order with GourmetGiftBaskets on 12/29/25 for my boss's mother-in-law's passing, sent on behalf of staff and corporate. Delivery was guaranteed for 1/2/26, which was especially important given the circumstances.
Today is January 4th, and the company still cannot explain why UPS delayed the shipment. I was again promised it would arrive on January 5th, but the lack of accountability is unacceptable.
This situation has been extremely embarrassing, as my boss still has not received the sympathy basket from us. For a company that advertises premium gifts and guaranteed delivery, this experience was disappointing.
I will not be ordering from GourmetGiftBaskets again.
This company should never be trusted to provide anything for any special occasion. I ordered 2 gift baskets for my grandson's for Easter. I ordered them on a Wednesday with a scheduled/promised delivery by Saturday. They did not send the baskets on time so UPS would not deliver until Monday - the day after Easter. When I wrote them to express my disgust and anger at the fact that they ruined my grandson's Easter they said they would refund the money, that it wasn't their fault and that they were going to cancel the order directly with UPS and if did come that I would have to return the baskets. They are by far the worst service I ever used and warn anybody considering using Gourmetgiftbaskets. Com to not trust anything about this company. They caused so much disappointment for 2 little boys and their only respond was essentially "oh well - not our fault". They are truly scum.
I ordered two gift boxes for our neighborhood HOA. Both were received in their boxes upside down. Opening the boxes as you would think to do so, based on the box and information, resulted in the items falling out as the box was opened upside down. Also, the gift card I wrote to go with the items was not included. I have written three times to the company (and sent a video of the box being opened) and have not heard back from them. This exhibits very bad businesses practices.
I had ordered multiple packages from this company to the same address before, and all were delivered. Today my son's 16th birthday cake wasn't delivered on time, because the UPS driver couldn't find the same address. I called this company twice. Extremely impolitely, I was told that UPS was informed and the company can't do anything for the package delivered today. Then I called UPS multiple times, and each time a representative told me that took notes, and the package would be delivered today. Finally after 5 PM, from the delivering UPS, I received a phone call, indicating they never received the above-mentioned messages, and the package cannot be delivered today! Under these conditions, I can't make any further purchases from this company.
I placed an order for the "Taste of Christmas" gift basket on December 17th, intending for it to be delivered by December 23rd. However, upon receiving feedback from my father-in-law the day after Christmas, it was evident that the majority of the snacks were stale. Generally, vacuum-sealed food has a shelf life of 1-2 months, but it depends on factors such as storage conditions.
It's disheartening that the company, despite anticipating a holiday rush, didn't ensure the freshness of the products in the baskets. I contacted Customer Service on December 26th, reporting the issue through the site and leaving a review. Strangely, they claimed not to have received the email, and my review, except for the 5-star ratings, mysteriously disappeared.
On January 18th, I received an email from a Personal Gift Concierge named Allyson Kilduff, expressing gratitude for my order (singular, though I placed 3 orders). I shared my bad experience with her, but after a week passed without a response, I followed up. She claimed not to have seen my reply initially and offered a replacement, which I declined, requesting a refund instead. She issued the refund, promising it would take 5-7 business days.
Despite being told on January 25th that the refund was being processed within the specified timeframe, I had not received it by February 3rd. Allyson assured me on February 5th that it was still processing, asking for a few more days. As of February 12th, I have yet to receive the refund, prompting me to initiate a dispute with my bank, given their 90-day window.
Considering my negative experience and feedback from others in different states, I advise potential customers to check reviews outside the company's site before placing orders. My recommendation is to avoid ordering from them altogether. In the future, I plan to create my own gift baskets from vendors with known fresh products, citing Home Goods as a reliable option, where snacks even come with expiration dates.
My order was received on date requested. Family member was surprised at the quantity and quality of the items. I am very pleased and will definitely order again.
We ordered the mini chocolate bundt cakes with chocolate whoopie pies. I did not know what to expect. They arrived way before Christmas in a beautiful, reuseable box decorated with a nutcracker. The cakes were well protected in the shipping box. My only concern was if they would be fresh for Christmas. Each cake was wrapped in a sealed plastic cover. The one I had was delicious. I highly recommend Gourmet Gift Baskets!
I received an email that someone was sending me a birthday gift basket arriving on a date I was not available. I called the company and asked to redirect the basket to a place where an event was being held. They took the address. I said this place doesn't have a refrigerator, could they let me know if the basket needed cold storage. While they could not divulge the particular basket, they said it didn't need to be kept cold. Then the basket arrived on the day I was not available and on the side was a caution about perishable items. I received the BOUNTIFUL HARVEST - FRUIT GIFT BASKET. Not helpful they ignored my request and really not helpful they sent cold storage items when they said the opposite. What was inside? A bounty of processed foods wrapped in cellophane. For $139. Also four apples, two pears and two oranges. The mountain of fake hay, the large basket, the cardboard, ribbon, and aforementioned cellophane done to make the 11 foods and small pile of fruits look larger. If this company were trying to say, "We don't believe in global warming." They nailed it. And the boxed food items were dented. If you really want to gift someone food items, get them a gift card to their favorite grocers for the same price and let them shop. This is an environmental and monetary waste. Photos show the "bountiful harvest" without the fruit and all the b.s. Wrapping to make it look bigger which is in its own photo as a big annoying chore. To add insult to... they added my email to their subscriber list.
My dear friend from North Carolina, kindly ordered a huge gift basket on June 23,2023, to be delivered to me in Canada, prior to her visit.
The basket was to arrive in time to coincide with the arrival of my guests, including herself...
Unfortunately, the gift basket must have been held up at Customs and was only just delivered yesterday, July 18, long after my guests had departed.
I felt so disappointed for my friend, she checked on the shipment several times while visiting, only to be told it should arrive any day. She never got to see what she had sent and it must have been a very expensive basket, judging from it's contents.
Perhaps, for future orders you should advise customers not to ship food items across the border, or check which items would cause delays (such as cheese & meat)...which, by the way, there was cheese & a sausage in my basket and as it sat for almost one (1) month out of refrigeration, I wonder are they safe to eat?
I had also been checking on the delivery prior to her arrival, and unfortunately fell for a scam relating to the shipment, I received a scam email, just after notification of the gift, telling me I needed to pay $1.95 for the customs charge... which I agreed to pay, thinking this would expediate delivery, except that I was actually charged $31.08... this charge is now in dispute with my bank, I had to cancel my credit card.
All in all... not a good experience for my friend or me.
Regards,
MJ

They charge A LOT for shipping... and the shipping service is not commensurate with the price tag. While I recognize that part of the issue is the breakdown in service at Fedex (and others), the gorgeous-looking gift basket never reached its destination. Neither I nor the recipient was ever called or notified of shipping issues when we might have been able to do something about it (despite Gourmet Gift Basket asking for phone numbers in case there are shipping issues). When I called, they completely wash their hands of any responsibility and deducted the return shipping fee from my refund -- granted, a much lesser fee than the original shipping, but close to $60 in shipping total with nothing to show for it.
Needed to send a birthday gift to my son in CA and didn't have much time. The two baskets both arrived exactly on his birthday and he loved them! Snacks, candy, fruit, and little cute cakes.
First time we used this company. It won't be the last. We sent a large basket to a new business associate and his family. The basket has something for all ages. They were very pleased, Selection of items was wonderful and GREAT customer service. Already planing to use you for holiday gifts.
The gift basket never arrived on time for a gift and no refund and they keep charging our account. Do not recommend
Always on time and always what was ordered. Have used numerous times and very satisfied. Will absolutely use again.
I ordered a gift basket online. It was delivered on the date predicted and someone from the company even called the next day to make sure it was satisfactory. Highly recommend!
Ordered French Champagne and Godiva basket, they charged me $48.00 for overnight delivery, which I never asked for, only saw it when I pressed Order. The next day delivery took 5 days. My package was sent back to them due to 3 attempts failed delivery, which I dont understand occupants were home, since they just had baby, I assume UPS in CA could not find the bell or call. The told me I would get credit on my cars within 5 to 10 business days, They lie, Its going on to a month, still no credit, They dont respond back, when I attempt to contact them. I'm forced to dispute the charge now. Stay Away from this company!
I paid extra for a gift basket and also chocolate covered strawberries to be delivered early for Christmas for my daughter who is away from home. They did not arrive on the 23rd as promised, and since she was away after Christmas by the time she got the fruit in the basket and strawberries a week later when she returned they were no longer edible! I contacted Gourmet Gift Baskets numerous times but no response whatsoever. A reply would have been appreciated. I understand delays can happen but due to no reply at all, I'll never use them again and would not recommend!
Ordered a gift basket before Christmas ordered chocolate caramel strawberries - recipient received ores paid $50 shipping to receive before Christmas recipient received wrong order Tuesday after Christmas called customer service still haven't gotten a response. Would order from this company first and last time
Paid for express shipping for a guaranteed delivery date. Package arrived 5 days late. Called customer service and was told the date I paid for was "estimated". Um, no. It wasn't; that's why I paid so much extra. Requested my shipping costs back and was told it was UPS's issue. Again, no. I don't have a contract with UPS, gourmet baskets does. It's their job to refund the customer and get reimbursed by their contracted delivery service. Bottom line: Terrible company for mediocre food. You'd do better at Walmart.
I ordered this for family to enjoy over the holiday weekend, since one of them is sick. I paid extra for two-day shipping for it to be there on a Friday. It was not delivered until the next Tuesday. It is now Thursday, and Customer Service never answered my email asking for a refund on shipping. Only going to give two stars because it did provide my family with snacks.
Answer: Very difficult. I called a few times with no answer.
Answer: Hi Ross! Thanks for the question. Could you send us the item # you were looking at? Thanks.
Answer: Never had to contact them. It was easy to order online.
Answer: I have three children and 7 grandkids. I found a great holiday treat for Halloween that they all liked.
Family owned and operated in scenic New Hampshire since the beginning, GourmetGiftBaskets.com is a different kind of gift company. In 2002, they began making beautiful gifts with the utmost care, artfully arranging each one by hand. To this day,...
