Best friends made here. Good Dog makes it simple for people to get dogs from good sources and for reputable breeders, shelters and rescues to put their dogs in good homes. And we provide all the support and guidance you need to feel confident every step of the way!
Good Dog has garnered a reputation for facilitating a seamless and trustworthy experience in connecting potential puppy owners with vetted breeders. Customers appreciate the user-friendly app, responsive customer service, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing breeders adhere to strict ethical standards. However, some breeders express frustration over the platform’s stringent policies and lack of transparency regarding fees and breed restrictions, which they find arbitrary and unfair. Overall, while many users celebrate their positive experiences, concerns about fairness and communication highlight areas for potential improvement in the company's approach.

At first this site helped us breeders, but lately Good Dog hasn't been helping. I know the market is stalling after the pandemic. But making it so the buyers can only pay through good dog when they don't want to is hurting us. I'm thinking of pulling my account.
Being a Breeder at Good dog is amazing they helped from the beginning to end setting up everything they help with all your needs this is the best website ever Hooray for having Good dog I will recommend them to everyone thanks again for all u guys do.
I was able to process applications and find the perfect home for my litter. The good dog took all the guess work out of the process. The applicants can read about you and your litter and decide to apply. I placed 2/3 of my puppies through this app and the staff always reached out to see if I needed any help.
Getting on as a breeder was not easy. But now,, I am looking forward to all the classes and info. I hope to see this platform go great.
Interested in purchasing a Schnauzer puppy which are kind of hard to find these days. Which led me to Good Dog. Breeders quickly responded to my query. All were very helpful and knowledgeable.
This service is most helpful. It makes communication with breeders efficient and timely.
Like others have noted, I've had issues with the fees. If you use credit card (which most people will, protection-wise), you're charged a 3% processing fee. However, this is against state law where I am (Massachusetts), where the law states that no seller in any sales transaction may impose a surcharge for someone electing to pay via card instead of ACH/etc.
They owe me 75 dollars from a breeder that didn't work out then I find another breeder met with two younger ladies but they gave us 10 minutes to pick a puppy out of a sand pit the puppies stunk the one we have had barnyard worms and bladder infection 700 dollars at vet first time we went. I was in contact with good dog and the breeder they were very nasty the puppy wasn't sick when we took him this was 48 hours later really? I've contacted animal control they have been to the property 5 times they will not contact them back mainly because they are doing goat yoga on the property hence the barnyard worms? Backyard breeder all the way I'm going to code enforcement next and then state's attorney to try and get my money back! Good dog will not answer messages or emails and backed a person who was proven that they weren't a breeder. The vet she used for the puppy's told me twice she was not a breeder she just brought the puppies in for there first shot. She refused to let us see the parents of this puppy and said they were akc registered I called akc they have never heard of her in the state of Florida makes me sick what scanners do to people and animals!
Hi Ramona,
We are so sorry that your pup has required some veterinary care.
We’re glad that members of our team were already able to communicate with you via multiple phone calls and email over the past weeks regarding our Code of Ethics and Standards, and answer your questions about how our screening process may apply to an individual breeding program.
As they previously shared with you, we take enforcement of our standards incredibly seriously and have a process in place in which we conduct an independent investigation of all complaints. After reviewing your concerns and all documentation provided, we determined Dirty Paws is not in violation of our Community Standards. You can review our Community Standards here [https://www.gooddog.com/standards-and-screening].
We hope this answers any remaining questions that you might have.

Good Dog has repeatedly demanded deadlines that were before health testing appointments. No real person responds so my emails. No real person from Good Dog has ever spoken to me about my breeding program even though their email response on the web said they did. Good Dog is located in New York City and has six investors (!) and those investors are going to get their money somehow. I personally do not believe it is a dog gone good idea to make puppy sales a corporate enterprise and I refuse to participate. I'm sick and tired of people running businesses by instilling unnecessary fear into others and then profiting off the solution. I have been doing this a long time and the problems are very few and far between. Simply put, do not buy puppies from people who can not give you proof. Cash sales are not a problem...some people don't like on line pay companies. Sales tax on puppies sales should be collected and sent in by the seller where applicable. And, I have never had a private check bounce when selling puppies. Best wishes everyone and I hope you find the puppy of your dreams and that it brings you many years of joy.
Hi Laura,
We’re glad that members of our team were already able to communicate with you via email over the past few days regarding our Code of Ethics and Standards, and how our screening process may apply to an individual breeding program.
As previously mentioned, whenever we have questions about whether a breeding program is in compliance with our Breeder Code of Ethics and Community Standards, we conduct an independent investigation, which may include an examination of all evidence submitted, review of any publicly available materials, discussions with any relevant third parties (including vets, co-breeders, past buyers, etc.), and a discussion with the breeder.
We hope this helps answer any remaining questions you have. If anything changes with your program, we would love to have you rejoin our community in the future. We continue to wish you all the best with your program.

I was looking for an English bulldog puppy and didn't see any on Facebook Market Place. I found Good Dog, which had a few breeders with adorable bulldog litters. I immediately applied and was shortly approved. Gooddog is such a helpful platform. The payments with the breeder were trusted and good!
It does not state in any of their information that you have to only use their credit card processing or you will be banned. So a buyer cannot use cash, check or money order and only use their card processing or the seller will be banned. After signing up you get an email to inform you of this.
Hi Elizabeth,
We’re glad a member of our team was able to connect with you via email and share more information about Good Dog’s On-Platform Payment Policy (https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/on-platform-policy).
As a quick recap, our policy asks that all deposits and final puppy payments be completed on Good Dog when working with a Good Dog applicant.
We make sure all Good Dog applicants are aware of this policy. When Good Dog applicants submit their application to a Good Breeder, they agree to abide by our policy before submitting their application. That means all Good Dog applicants understand that all deposit and final puppy payments should be completed on Good Dog, and we also let them know about the benefits that come with paying on Good Dog.
Buyers can pay through Good Dog “fee free” by simply selecting to opt-out of the optional Protection & Support fee and choosing to pay via bank transfer (ACH) for no additional card processing fees. Buyers can always reach out to our team for further assistance with this by giving us a call/text us at 855-446-6336, or emailing us at [email protected]
We hope this clears up any remaining questions you have!

We just happened to be looking for an Australian Shepherd to be part of our family and found Gooddog. The site had plenty of certified breeders and after searching we decided on a pup from Remy's BFF. Well it was absolutely the best decision we made when it came to searching for our aussie. The breeder was very helpful and professional. Elizabeth the aussies breeder was courteous, polite and offered to answer any questions we may have had. She was the ultimate professional, once we went through the required protocols for getting Beau we set up the date to meet her and the aussie pup. It was an absolute joy and when we actually saw him we knew he was the one. She and the trainer she has have done an outstanding job with Beau and he is absolutely one of a kind. I can only imagine what the rest of the pups are like. I would highly recommend Remy's BFF with a 5 plus star rating for the quality of the puppies they breed. They are well cared for, potty trained and taught basic commands. Beau has transitioned nicely into our family and is an absolute joy to have. We are so thankful for Elizabeth and hope that she will continue to breed top quality pets. The whole experience was worth its weight in gold.
After looking for 2 years for a breeder, we happened across Good Dog and we were so happy. So many scams going on out there but we found a breeder where we live and it's been nothing but a positive experience. I highly recommend Good Dog for your fur baby adoption.
I did not get my dog from this website, but they were very helpful in me finding my new dog.
I first tried a breeder from their website, but turned out to be a scam, and lost money on that.
This sight help me find what I was looking for from a legit breeder and gave me info on what I needed for the new puppy, and someone to talk to if I needed help
Everyone was very nice and well informed. Knew about all the breeds and who had puppies for sale! Their follow up is also good! Nice to know that they are really concerned about getting the pups a good home that will be best for the pup and the customer! Thanks and Aloha
Good website, but it would be nice to if every breeder included the same information, such as weight and heigth of the parents and specifics of testing, Genetics and OFA scores instead of a generic message
Dealing with Lizzy at EJC Cattle Dogs has been who I found on GoodDog.com has been awesome! GoodDogs.com has been super helpful and the staff Emailed me a lot making sure I was finding the right breeders and always there to answer any questions I've had and giving me recommendations on breeders. I pick up my little buddy next weekend and I'm super excited
I am very pleased with Good Dog. They made ample referrals to breeders, and I purchased a puppy from one of their referrals. They stayed in contact and provided good information on training.
Good Dog is not a reliable website. They do not properly vet their breeders, many of whom are exploitative and view dog breeding as little more than a commercial enterprise. My wife and I experienced considerable emotional and psychological trauma after an unreliable breeder pulled out of an arrangement on the scheduled pick-up date. I'm retrospect, it was sketchy from the start since we were unable to meet the puppy in advance or see the conditions in which the puppies were weaned, etc. Rather, all we received following our initial deposit was a few texted pictures and videos of the dog we were trying to adopt. Eventually, the breeder became increasingly erratic and unresponsive, pulling out of the transaction at the last minute. In a final act of desperation she even tried to have us meet her at a random gas station to drop off the puppy. It was extremely unprofessional, and needless to say, personally heartbreaking for us since we had built up an emotional connection to the puppy over the month since we first put down the deposit. All in all, I suspect that many breeders here are new and inexperienced—or worse, simply running puppy mills.
I advise all potential customers to do your research! Good Dog is not the best avenue to use. A reputable breeder should agree to have you meet the dog's parents, permitting you to meet them face-to-face, and ideally to see how and where the dogs are born and weaned. Needless to say, AKC papers and vaccination records are highly recommended.
My wife and I learned the hard way! To this day we are fighting for a deposit that was promised to be returned but hasn't been. It was nothing but trauma and tragedy, and my heart breaks for the puppies whose lives are caught up in scams of this nature.
Dear Richard,
Thank you so much for sharing your concerns. At Good Dog, our community and customers are the most important thing, so we’re really glad you were able to connect with and have a positive conversation with one of our Care Team members.
We completely understand your concerns about scams! The prevalence of scams is actually one of the reasons we started Good Dog - to easily connect people with responsible breeders. Good Dog is on a mission to use technology as a force for good to make it simple for people to get dogs from responsible sources. Each breeder on Good Dog sets their own payment policies and contract terms about non-refundable deposits, so we encourage puppy buyers to choose a breeder whose policies align with what they feel most comfortable with.
All of our featured breeders have been screened to ensure they meet community standards set by our team of veterinary and animal welfare experts. If it’s helpful, you can review our standards & screening guidelines here: https://www.gooddog.com/standards-and-screening

Hi Holly,
Thank you for sharing this feedback with us. As a friendly reminder, On-Platform Payment Policy asks that all deposits and final puppy payments be completed on Good Dog when working with a Good Dog applicant. We completely understand that you might have a different way of doing things with non-Good Dog applicants, and that’s ok - this policy only applies to applicants who apply to your program through Good Dog!
In case helpful, we also want to share that we do make sure all Good Dog applicants are aware of our Policy. When Good Dog applicants submit their application to a Good Breeder, they agree to abide by our Policy before submitting their application. That means all Good Dog applicants understand that all deposit and final puppy payments should be completed on Good Dog, and we also let them know about the benefits that come with paying on Good Dog.
